It feels like a life time ago I joined a mumsnet thread when I was obease and in my mid twenties.

With support from that thread, 100 in jokes and a patented claim to being "The best thread on mumsnet" TM I lost 6 stone.

Then life, babies, the pandemic and a million other things happened and I am dangerously dancing with being overweight again.

If any one new or old would like to join me in my new mumsnet weight loss journey I'll be here, any mode any method any size I am happy for the company.

@poorpaws i couldn't comment on weight and not mention Linda😊

I used to sing hue and cry song in my head when out on my exercise walks....

HairsprayBabe · 11/08/2023 16:53

@Pancakebatter glad to have you here, we have the same goal weight! I last weighed that much just before my wedding so I don't know if I am being optimistic or foolish!

@honeybonbon welcome welcome, my mother is also short of stature and bemoans how unfair it is that she has such a low calorie budget - do you have a preferred method?

It's just taken me back to the good times @TVHubbyClaire. Yeah we were all overweight but had so much fun and actually saw each other through hardships too. I really felt I knew everyone well, it was such a good time.

PurBal · 11/08/2023 16:54

I’m 2 children down and 20kg heavier than I was pre babies. I don’t know what that is in stone. Recently weighed at 86kg. Would like to be 67kg. I’m EBF an 8wo. So no major dietary changes or restrictions yet but more of a focus on not binging carbs and chocolates.

Lostmyunicorn · 11/08/2023 17:15

Can I join please? I’m 2.5 stone heavier than I want to be and I feel awful about myself. Currently on holiday so will be starting middle of next week and need accountability!

pickledandpuzzled · 11/08/2023 17:16

I'd like to join in!

I'm currently calling it 'target weight' at SW, but really could do with losing another two stone. I've lost six and regained one.

I'm working on sustainability though, changing my attitude to food, working on my tendency to be controlling around food. I'd like to become 'normal' about food. Neither dieting, nor indulging, just fuelling my body and enjoying life without obsessing about what I eat.

HairsprayBabe · 11/08/2023 17:17

@PurBal hello welcome, my second pregnancy I gained far more, she was a smaller baby so I guess all the extra hobnobs had to go somewhere - I should have taken advantage of my BF metabolism but I didn't!

@poorpaws of course! Glad to have you here!

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 11/08/2023 17:22

Hello!!! I’ve missed you all!!
Im only 3 or 2lbs depending on how much salty food I eat the day before of my final target (9st) but I have been for about a year…

2u2years · 11/08/2023 17:36

Can I join? Mine are 2 and nearly 4 so not babies anymore. I've just got down to pre-second pregnancy weight, about 1stone to pre-first pregnancy and then another stone to a healthy BMI. Have been at it 4 months and 2 stone down. IF 16/18hours weekends and ease up on weekends. Need to find time to exercise between babies and work!

TVHubbyClaire · 11/08/2023 20:11

@poorpaws

I couldn't agree more, so pleased to hear from you.

Now we are at a new time with new things, and changes for all of us since then I'm sure.

Slimmer by Autumn will be icing on cake😊

Hodgepodge211 · 11/08/2023 21:43

Can I join too! My little boy is turning 4 this weekend so again, not really "baby weight" Blush I've been intermittent fasting / calorie counting and lost 8lb so far, another 2 stone to go!

Ledochas · 11/08/2023 21:52

Joining in solidarity as I have a 3.5 year old and an almost 6 month old and am giving it my best shot to lose this weight once and for all... no more babies here.

Weighed in at 190lb before my second 8lber... currently 164lb. It's been painful and frustrating but slowly going downwards. Half the issue is I was a stone heavier when I fell pregnant with DC2 than DC1! My bad.

So, what’s the deal on this thread? I’m looking around for guidance.

What kind of guidance? I imagine between us we've tried most things. I am fairly confident I know what works for me, and am working on making healthy eating sustainable.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/08/2023 09:23

Sorry I meant what’s occurring, is there a theme? It used to be everyone aiming for 7lbs a month in whatever way suited them. Is it still that or more freestyle? Perfectly happy to do either of course. I think 7lbs a month is beyond me now, post menopause

Chardonnay73 · 12/08/2023 09:41

shuffles despairingly into thread
Im here. I wish I wasn’t. 🙄 I have had a cracking 5 years of putting weight back on🙄
So. Eat less, move more yes? Oh so simple… 🤣🤣🤦‍♀️

I was planning on just loitering and seeing how people I enjoyed chatting to are getting on 😂

Pennylope32 · 12/08/2023 09:46

Count me in! My son is nearly a year old and my starting weight was 13 stone 6, currently 11 stone 2. Goal weight was 9 stone 7. I did manage to lose a bit more and was nearer to 10 and a half stone but sleep deprivation and being a single mum I keep comfort eating :(

pickledandpuzzled · 12/08/2023 09:55

I'm interested in talking through how people make decisions about food. How we learn to eat 'normally', or 'like a thin person'.

Basically having been brought up by someone with food issues and been obese my whole life, I need to unlearn various unhelpful attitudes to food.

Limonatamum · 12/08/2023 10:06

Ooh can I join too please! I lost 4 stone pre wedding & baby, didn’t fare toooo badly with pregnancy but have a very stubborn stone to lose!
im tempted by fasting @Cocteautriplet im similar in terms of willpower!!

GandalfsSearchHistory · 12/08/2023 10:14

@pickledandpuzzled

I am very much starting out trying to shift 5 stone, but this is what I’ve been doing…

I cut out sugar and bread/anything made with flour. After a week I felt so much better - no hunger, no highs and lows of blood sugar.

Then I focused on only having (breakfast) lunch and dinner. Breakfast in brackets because we don’t need to eat the moment we’re out of bed unless genuinely hungry.

Finding out about the Glucose Goddess hacks the other day have really helped with thinking about what I eat. So now I’m having a small salad with homemade vinaigrette before main meal. Also eating fats like Creme fraiche with fruit to help with satiety as well as blood sugar spikes.

I’ve lost half a stone in 3 weeks and feeling happier, more energetic, my mind feels sharper and my memory is better. Even without weight loss this has been amazing. And best of all…no bloated feeling!

I have been inspired by listening to Dr. Rangan Chatterjee’s podcast “Feel Better Live More” and Dr. Jason Fung’s book “The Obesity Code”. Dr. Andrew Jenkinson’s book “Why We Eat (too much)” and Tim Spector’s “Spoon Fed” also worth reading.

GandalfsSearchHistory · 12/08/2023 10:15

Oh and crucially, no snacks!

PetitPorpoise · 12/08/2023 10:30

I'm interested in this. I'm currently over 14st. Would like to be under 10st but would settle for under 12 tbh. Scared to look as I've just had a week's holiday and meeting friends for a meals and drinks tonight.

I've been struggling for a few years. I've had a busy decade with marriage, babies, house move, career change for me and DH and focus on my health has been sporadic at best. I've never found a routine that I could stick to for more than a couple of months before it gets derailed and I'm back in 'just get through the week' survival mode thinking.

Newbornmum · 12/08/2023 11:13

Hi everyone, thanks for the thread. I'd love to join too please. I'm ebf my 5 week old at the moment and the postpartum changes to my body have been a shock to say the least! No idea yet what I have to lose.. Will check once I can pop baby down to snooze.

I've had a tricky relationship with dieting and restriction in the past so am aiming to keep things low key and focus mainly on adding things in (more veggies, movement, protein etc) rather than taking anything specific out. That's my very vague plan of action for now. Oh and I am a bridesmaid in less than three months!!! Currently very worried about getting the dress etc and trying (and failing) not to freak out too much about it - wasn't the most body confident person before pregnancy let alone now!

WILTYjim · 12/08/2023 11:15

@GandalfsSearchHistory thx for the podcast recommendation!
