It feels like a life time ago I joined a mumsnet thread when I was obease and in my mid twenties.

With support from that thread, 100 in jokes and a patented claim to being "The best thread on mumsnet" TM I lost 6 stone.

Then life, babies, the pandemic and a million other things happened and I am dangerously dancing with being overweight again.

If any one new or old would like to join me in my new mumsnet weight loss journey I'll be here, any mode any method any size I am happy for the company.

@Lastqueenofscotland2 hello! Loitering you say? I can loiter! I’m a great loiterer!

BitOutOfPractice · 12/08/2023 11:35

How lovely to see so many friendly and familiar faces!

poorpaws · 12/08/2023 15:18

Hi @BitOutOfPractice There is no way I can go back to trying to lose 7lbs a month! My plan is to lose very little every week, even as small as half a pound or less. I've been yo-yoing like crazy for a few years but am nearly 1.5 stones down from a few years ago.

I need to lose about 11 lbs now, have been needing to lose it for a long time, so I'm going very slowly to try and finish what has been a nightmare for a long time. Target weight 10 sts, that will do me.

Other than that I'm here to catch up with my old pals.

BitOutOfPractice · 12/08/2023 16:53

I think that’s my plan too @poorpaws ive lost 10lbs since my birthday in June. A little under 1lb a week. I’m happy with that. So far so good. I’m still super focused (as is DP which helps).

SushiSuave · 12/08/2023 17:46

Hi all, I will join too (although I'm having a final weekend of treats before starting on Monday!). I lost 2 stone last year but a change of career and a very stressful few months has resulted in me putting it all back on. But I really want my clothes to fit again so giving it a second shot! I just need to not snack in the evening - that's my danger zone.

SW: 11st 11lb
GW: 9st 6lb

Aiming to lose 2-3lb per week. I usually have a big loss in week 1 and then it levels out so let's see how we go.

Iwanderedlonelyasagoat · 12/08/2023 18:11

Can I join? Ive just had a second baby and never quite got back to my pre-pregnancy weight with the first one! I ate so much during this pregnancy. My baby was born a week ago and I'm breastfeeding so taking it really steadily to start with - I've been trying to eat 3 varied heavily meals and eat a lot of fruit and veg. In a few weeks I'll get walking longer distances and add some more exercise. At the moment I have literally one pair of gym leggings which fit and some nursing tops and on maternity leave I absolutely dont have the money to buy bigger clothes - I'd like to try and get into the winter ones by the time it's cold enough!

Start weight - 12 st 7
Goal Weight - 9 st 7.

pickledandpuzzled · 12/08/2023 18:35

@GandalfsSearchHistory I've read the andrew jenkinson one. I'm interested in the glucose goddess-

The thing is, someone has pointed out that I'm inclined to severe rules around food, which then lead to a kind of boom/bust situation. She's keen for me to be more intuitive. She thinks that my tendency to binge is caused by my restrictions. She's not the first to say so either. I might read the recommended books and just come up with a new set of rules.

So I will have a look and see whether there are some take aways for me which aren't about restrictions.

Newbornmum · 12/08/2023 19:07

@pipickledandpuzzled I can relate to that and found the books Intuitive Eating by Elyse Resch and Evelyn Tribole and The F*ck it Diet by Caroline Dooner completely life changing. I definitely can't afford to go back to strict food rules so I'm trying to focus on adding things in rather than taking anything away.

Thanks, I'll check them out.

I'm terrified of putting weight back on, so am finding it tricky to find a way.

Ninjago22 · 12/08/2023 19:30

This is really bizarre! I lurked on the Slenderistas chats for ages. That makes me sound really creepy, I'm not, honest! 😂 I did post very occasionally! And am very grateful to you all as I lost 7 stone by following the fab tips and tricks along the way and finally felt good about myself!

Have had a traumatic couple of years - I have been diagnosed with a pretty horrible illness & have become a full time wheelchair user and just to pile it on, am halfway through a divorce. I don't want to feel sorry for myself so just need to put my health and happiness first for a bit!

I've gained back 3 of the lost 7 stone and am feeling really crappy about myself and my clothes are too tight again so decided to get back on the wagon and have started IF again and trying to cut out the rubbish and mindless snacking. Although easier said than done when we're out of routine in the summer hols!

Anyway, moan out of the way- Decided at the beginning of this month I have to lose some weight and two days ago to log back into MN to find some support! Universe is definitely on my side! You have no idea how happy I am to see chat about Lindas again 😂

August SW 14st 9lbs
CW 14st 4lbs
GW 12st (anything below that is a bonus- I'm 5'11" so that takes me to healthy BMI again!)

Hope the OG's are all well and looking forward to getting to know the newbies too.

pickledandpuzzled · 12/08/2023 21:51

You have been busy, Ninjago!

I lost almost 6 stone during Covid. I only went to slimming world because it was a compulsory part of the NHS Bariatric surgery path!

I could lose another 4/5 to get to a healthy BMI, but don't think that would be healthy for me. One stone would be great, two would be fabulous. But mainly I want to find a way to live that's neither obsessively watching what I eat, nor putting weight on.

HairsprayBabe · 12/08/2023 22:24

@BitOutOfPractice I'm aiming for 7lbs but I don't know how realistic it is with small children I always seem to be around carbs these days!

I had an OK day subway salad for lunch no cheese no dressing so that came in about 400cals then it was supposed to be pizza night DH does home made so I had 2 small slices and filled the rest of the plate with salad

I used to weigh every day when I was in the zone but I don't know any more I feel like I am starting from scratch again!

@Chardonnay73 @Ninjago22 @Lastqueenofscotland2 so glad to see you all, I think I had forgotten just how much of a lovely community we had on the old thread this is giving me warm fuzzys!

I have my daughters baptism towards the end of September and I would like to have made a decent dent in the Linda's by then!

Careerdilemma · 12/08/2023 22:39

I'm in if you'll have me! I had a crazy high metabolism when breastfeeding so was eating everything in sight and still losing weight. Sadly that eating thenbecame a habit and as the nursing dropped off I started piling on the pounds.

I have a stone to lose, I can feel the extra chub and all my clothes feel awful.

Not quite sure on the best approach. I find calorie counting hard with homemade stuff. I"m wondering if I can do it by dramatically increasing my exercise and just cutting out all crap.

PlumpAndGrump · 12/08/2023 22:43

Hello! I would love to join.

I'm 3 weeks into my weight loss journey. 12lbs down.

Sw 20st 4lbs.

I lost 7st in 2019 through calorie counting and blaming Covid, lockdowns, pregnancy and post partum for gaining pretty much every pound back.

My youngest is 2 now so it's time to crack on again! Using nutracheck app for calories

WestrayWife · 12/08/2023 23:01

Another former Slenderista lurker here... I would love to join you properly this time. Really need a kick up the arse and to banish some Lindas. Have a shiny new Garmin arriving this week so hopefully that will also help motivate me Halo

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 13/08/2023 00:26

@HairsprayBabe sort of low-gluten and sugar, with IF. The problem is I'm a teacher so feel exhausted in evenings and don't exercise enough/ always have work to do and don't plan in exercise sessions.

Will have to get strict and say 'I am doing XYZ this night/ morning' every week. And avoid staffroom treats!

Just gained menopause weight too :( But talking to doc about HRT soon.

MountainDweller · 13/08/2023 00:43

Hi @HairsprayBabe and anyone else who remembers me. I was on those threads sporadically and everyone was so nice. I was in complete awe of you, HairsprayBabe because you were so focussed! I lost a bit over a stone but had loads more still to go. Then my dad died and I started being too nice to myself, never got back to it** and annoyingly have regained most of what I lost in the 6 years since.

I was counting calories back then and it worked when I stuck to it. I don't think I'll manage 7 Lindas a month but it's nice to dream!

HairsprayBabe · 13/08/2023 08:05

@AtomHeartMotherOfGod I totally get that, so hard to focus on being golden when you are shattered after work, could you do a bit of batch cooking or meal prep to take the thinking element out of it? Office/staff room cakes are a nightmare my mother said they always seem to appear when you have had your worst class 😭

@MountainDweller Hi welcome back! So sorry to hear about your DF 💐
I was reading back through old posts to remember things and I was a bit scarey 😅 I do need to get back in the zone thoroughly, Ideally I don't want to be wearing my maternity coat again this Christmas 😭

Good morning Slenderistas!

I went rogue yesterday with wine and pizza but that was all planned so I don’t feel too shabby about it.

i am now up for a golden week. I lost 1lb last week, that’s 9 Lindas in total. Only about another 30 to go 🙄

I have my food planned for the week (I’m calorie counting) and I’m feeling all up-and-at-em this morning.

Sorry I know it’s a bit early on a Sunday to deal with an insufferable Pollyanna like me 😬

Justkoko · 13/08/2023 08:33

Hey Slenderistas! Glad to see you, this was a lovely friendly group! Lockdowns weren't kind to me and I gained but seem to have found focus recently and losing very slowly without feeling restricted. Tend not to eat breakfast and just eating a little lighter. Nothing extreme or particularly planned.

Newbornmum · 13/08/2023 08:39

Morning everyone 🙂 🌻

I've weighed and have 10kg/21 pounds to lose. Would be very happy with 1.5 a week. That would take me close to my GW by the wedding. Not sure where that leaves me with the bridesmaid dress though! Eeek! I need to try and balance the weight loss with keeping my milk supply happy so might read up a bit on that today.

Yesterday was good - lots of water and veggies and walked a good hour with DS in the carrier. Darn ankle is playing me up a bit so definitely need to be strict with myself about finding time for regular stretching, which I am terrible for skipping out on when I'm exercising.

Think I'm going to try and weigh once a week on a Sunday morning and see how that goes or was there a weigh day for the thread I missed? I only bought the scales yesterday hence weighing today.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend x

Limonatamum · 13/08/2023 08:40

ooooh good idea @Newbornmum lets have a weigh day!

SophieHope7 · 13/08/2023 08:50

Add me too! Need to lost 2 stone (currently 11. 13lbs and want to be 10 stone)

Ps thanks for not using kgs. So baffling

BitOutOfPractice · 13/08/2023 08:50

I weigh on Saturday mornings but I’m happy to join in on whatever day. Maybe we should go with @HairsprayBabe ’s weigh in day as it’s her thread.
