SWlurker, might have to try some of those ideas myself. Sugarlumps, I was anaemic during and after my 3rd pregnancy. Symptoms were similar to those you describe, extreme tiredness and dizzy spells. Also used to feel breathless at times. Good advice from SWlurker to get your haemoglobin checked in case it is anaemia. Hope you're feeling better soon x

I really need to get to shops again today. Need to stock up on fruit and laughing cow triangles, Nimble etc. I do mainly green days too.

Riallymusttryharder · 10/03/2008 11:14

morning. I am still off colour but trying hard to bshave, at least I didn't have any wine yesterday, just wholemeal bread last night as I didn't want to eat, so too much bread yesterday but no bad "bad" stuff iyswim.
DH made me an omelette for breakfast, I think we're on red today. I find green so much easier to stick to. Wasn't the original idea when SW started to alternate?
Cottage pie, veg & a tiny bit of potato later.
I REALLY want to have lost something tomorrow.
Good luck for this week guys!

BTW like the picnic idea and food suggestions.

Riallymusttryharder · 10/03/2008 11:14

oops behave, obviously!

peachespaige · 10/03/2008 13:02

Hi all. Just making myself a huge vegetable curry and rice, Im so hungry. Well I weighed today and have put on 4lbs in about 3 weeks, which included a weekend in Paris so not too bad.
Ive booked a body attack class for tonight and will go to the gym on Thursday night.
I lose all my will on the weekends so Ive decided to save ost of my syns for this. Im counting backwards so starting with 105 and deducting as I use them, Im starting with 70 though.
Well have a good Monday.

nikkid21 · 10/03/2008 14:12

Didn't have a very good weekend. Chinese and a bottle of bubbly on Friday night plus half bottle of red wine on saturday night.
Did a half hour spin class this morning and have a plan for the next 30 hours until weigh in tomorrow.
Am only going to have superspeed foods and do an hour spin class tomorrow. Hopefully i'll sweat another pound off. Only 5 1/2 lb until target so I need to knuckle down - if only so i save that £4.50 a week

sugarlumps · 10/03/2008 15:58

right well the picnic went well! lol we had quorn kebabs (quorn pieces with bits of pepper and onion put onto cocktail sticks and baked in the oven)
potato wedges with frylight and cajun spice mix pasted on them
i had ryvita with laughing cow extra light triangles and cucumber on, cal had a chs and ham roll,
carrot and cucumber to dip in extra low fat garlic and onion dip (not sure on the syns for that one)
and boiled eggs! oh and french fries
he also had sausage rolls and cocktail sausages but i gave those a miss.
a lovely picnic on the living room floor sat on a blanket with the washing airer over us like a tent haha
only problem now is - what to have for tea!

OP posts:
SWlurker · 10/03/2008 16:46

ooh sounds good I might give those kebabs a go! Bless at the tent

Riallymusttryharder · 10/03/2008 18:20

sounds like fun sugarlumps,

That's got to be an incentive, not lining the pockets of the already thin

kid · 10/03/2008 18:36

I had a disgusting dinner tonight. It was just pasta and green pesto but I hated it. I still ate it all as I am trying to be good.
I weighed myself after not following SW for a few weeks. I have put on Xlbs, I won't reveal how many though!

tootiredtothink · 10/03/2008 19:56

First time back on after and have lost 7Ib (over 2 weeks!) So very pleased - 8 1/2 stone to go!! Really am inspired by some of the menu suggestions and receipes so a big thanks to all of you!!! Hopefully will be able to add some of my own if i ever start cooking again!!!

SWlurker · 10/03/2008 20:46

Mmm should have sent it to me kid

I had guide camp chilli - a tin of tomatoes, tin of baked beans, tin of kidney beans and chilli powder to taste. Delish!

kid · 10/03/2008 21:01

I just want to be able to eat chocolate, lots of it!
Today, I had both b choices and 1 a, I have had 2 tbsp of green pesto and pasta. I also had some rice earlier.
I am going to have some hot chocolate in a minute which is about 1 ro 2 syns I believe. So, I have been very good indeed.
Hope the rest of the week is as easy.

sugarlumps · 11/03/2008 07:58

SWlurker · 11/03/2008 08:27

What week does everyone count their weigh-in day as? At the moment I am counting it as the previous week but I also seem to be going out for a lot of meals on Tuesdays, so the syns go right up, so I'm cheating myself really! Got another one tonight, and no matter what I have I will go over syns (e.g. there is pasta and tomato sauce but the sauce probably has oil in, starters aren't too healthy etc. At least i'm driving so no drink syns!)

Tuesdays aside, I have had bob on 80 syns this week. Fingers crossed I will have lost. I wonder what effect my exercise will have on my weight loss. I'm quite fit according to the nurse, and do fitness class twice a week, squash once a week and horse ride twice a week, but becuase I'm used to it I assume it maybe won't make that much difference? Only tonight will tell!

SWlurker · 11/03/2008 08:36

Sugarlumps.... could you curb it to be all free food picking? For me its not so much what to pick on but the fact I find it hard to try not to pick, so pile up a massive tupperware with free veg sticks, quorn kebabs(!), make your own dip, make a massive cold pasta salad, or potato salad, potato wedges, about 10 yoghurts, a mug shot or 10 etc (all green obv).. make loads/too much so that you always have something free to reach for rather than get desperate and reach for the crisps. Having said that if its one thing in particular you are craving then better to have it rather than press self-destruct.

Or maybe distract your hands - write to a friend you haven't seen in ages, take up knitting, or even fiddle with blue tack. Its a habit and if you break it just one night it will be so much easier to kick!
x

katylou25 · 11/03/2008 08:37

I have the same prob sugarlumps - can manage fine all day then come 8.30-9 I NEED chocolate, crisps etc! I try saving a he for then so i can have some toast - but still want crisps etc after it {greedy mare icon!}

I weigh on a weds evening - not looking to good this week had a nightmare weekend food wise - bottle of wine, jug of sangria and tapas friday night, kids parties sat and sun and then chinese sunday night - I just have got NO will power at the moment! Was good yesterday - did green
banana and yog for breakfast
couscous salad for lunch
roast chicken for tea (Yorkie = 4 syns, gravy = 1, chicken = heb)
snacks - ryvita and cheese (heb and a)
choc - 5 syns
fruit and yog
10 syns all day

Today is red
breakfast - banana and yog
lunch - left over roast chicken with salad and pesto mayo (1 syn0
tea - meatballs in mushroom sauce, 100g pasta (heb) grated cheese (hea) and salad/veg

leaving me 14 syns and i heb/a for snacking!

So should be a good day - i find if I plan really well I find it a lot easier.

toadette · 11/03/2008 10:34

Hi everyone. I weigh-in tonight so I am being extra good today. Might have to confess all at class tonight if no weight loss...have syn-ed badly this week (I really must remember that copious amounts of prawn crackers and red wine are NOT diet-friendly!). What I eat after weigh-in doesn't tend to feature on my food diaries for previous or next week, SWlurker!

I'm a weekend and evening snacker too, sugarlumps. SW chips are great on a green day. I made crisps one night too by cutting potato into fine rounds, spraying with frylight and baking in oven. Had them seasoned with salt and chilli flakes, yum! Think there's a recipe for roasted chickpeas on the website which is meant to be good for a green day too.

toadette · 11/03/2008 11:15

Found the roasted chickpea recipe, it's not on the SW website at the moment but found it on another one. Have copied it here in case anyone wants to try it. I haven't made them yet but someone from my group was highly recommending them.

(Syn Free - Green)
Method

Drain a can of chickpeas, sprinkle on salt or curry powder or chilli powder.

Spray a baking tray with frylight. Place chickpeas on tray and spray with frylight.

Bake in a hot oven until chickpeas are hard but not burnt. Takes approx. 40 mins.

Try a dip from fromage frais, onion, and garlic to go with them

toadette · 11/03/2008 11:18

Me again. Meant to ask earlier if anyone had any recipes using Quark. Finally managed to track some down in my local supermarket so have a tub in fridge but not sure what to do with it!

SWlurker · 11/03/2008 12:23

toadette - I add it to tomato based pasta sauces to make them creamy. I also dollop it onto anything I want to pretend I have a bit of creme frais or sour cream on

add a HEa of strong blue cheese to a tub, mix well and leave in fridge overnight for a blue cheese dip

Mix with an egg to make a creamy sauce that won't split. I add grated cheese and season well to make macaroni cheese.

It can act instead of butter in sandwiches, or as cream cheese (lol or should that be soft cheese??) on ryvita or sandwiches, just needs to have something tasty with it like ham or salad as its quite bland by itself.

If you cook with it the best bet is to add it last minute or over a low heat, or to add an egg as it splits easily.

nikkid21 · 11/03/2008 13:49

I use quark to make high syn flavours go a bit further. Current favourites are stirring a tablespoon of peanut butter or lemon curd into half a tub. You then leave it for a couple of hours to let the flavour seep in and stick it on scan bran or ryvita.

Weigh in tonight. Am hoping that I've done enough gym sessions this week to make up for the booze syns at the weekend.

Riallymusttryharder · 11/03/2008 14:57

Hi all, it's a chatty day today.

So, weighed in today. DH has lost 8lb and I've lost 2.5lb. I am as he's "cheated" as much as me and I have am lot more to lose, so I thought I would have lost maybe 1lb more.

Today not going well as I'm really suffering PMT and DS2 has chickenpox. But as someone said early, the rest of weigh-in day doesn't count.

Back to it tomorrow though as I would really like to lose at least 2lb for next week as it's my birthday.

Good luck for your weigh -ins

pippypoppypanda · 11/03/2008 15:31

Hi everyone hope its ok to join you, I could do with the extra support through the week! went back to SW beginning of Jan and im starting to get stuck in an eating rut!!xx

Riallymusttryharder · 11/03/2008 15:37

Hi PPP, and nappyneeds too - sorry I appeared to ignore you yesterday. The more support the better

pippypoppypanda · 11/03/2008 15:41

Nappyneeds - about the green day thing, i find that I bloat out on them so I usually have them the first 3 days of my SW week then have 4 red so the bloating calms down by weigh in!!
