Hi all,

As the last thread is filling up I thought I'd start a new one so we don't get lost.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4788207-im-starting-saxenda-this-week

This is the follow up from "I'm starting Saxenda this week" I'm personally journaling my way to a hopefully healthier and happier life. I'm journaling what I'm eating, the weight I'm losing (and gaining) and trying to see the positives outweigh the negatives on a daily basis. I'm joined on this thread and journey by many amazing women who are all very supportive and who are also sharing as much or as little as they like.

I'm finding I'm opening this thread instead of opening the cupboards, the fridge and the food delivery app on my phone and feeling less in my struggles and frustration and writing about my days makes me realize my life isn't all bad.

I'm thankful for all the voices in this thread and feel supported by the sisterhood of women from all over facing the same body struggles as I am.

I post some pictures and photos and I really like it when others do too.

If you're new please join us if you want to and let us know how you're getting on with your Saxenda journey. Come here for compliments when you deserve them and commiseration when you need some. You're welcome whatever your age, wherever you are and if you have 1kg or 10 stone to loose.

I've been on Saxenda for 10 weeks and lost 9.2kg (1st 6.2lbs) so far. I started at over 96kg and am now 87 and a bit. I have at least another 20kg to go to be happy with how I look - but knowing that the Saxenda sisterhood is here makes the journey seem less intimidating.

You look great @ThisMustBeMyDream I currently look like your "before" pic and have a prescription for Saxenda but don't intend to start until after my holidays in 2 weeks time. Did you follow an exercise regime / low fat diet in addition to the injections?
Well done on the loss so far!

Scottishlanza · 02/07/2024 15:50

Well I’ve completed stalled with the weight loss. I had lost a fraction over 2 stones by the end of March but then a couple of holidays and events have put some weight on. I managed to get back on track with the diet and still only taking 0.6 of the saxenda but I now seem to be stuck at 1 stone 12 off, and can’t get back to the 2 stone off mark. I’ve tried upping the saxenda but the side effects are too much.

Any ideas on kickstarting the weight loss again?

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/07/2024 17:57

@scottishlanza I'm afraid to say that when I stalled down to slow 1/2lb a week losses, the only thing that worked was to strictly calorie count and take up the gym.
This worked very well and put me back to 1-1.5lb a week losses.
I use my fitness pal and for my height/weight (short arse) I have 1290 cals to lose 1lb a week. It wont let me drop lower than that, so basically im unlikely to lose 2lb a week anymore. I'm exercising 3x a week doing 2hrs in the gym with around 50 min cardio and the rest weights. I've also tried upping my steps dramatically. I was doing 1-2k a day before! Some days I still can only do that (work days) but my 4 days off I'm doing 10k+. My headphones and music have saved me, I'm enjoying the excercise and the walking thanks to the music! I never had time to listen this much before!
Sorry, its probably not that helpful! But it's what worked for me. The sax is helping me stick to it!

See above! I didn't, not until March this year (10 months in, and 4st loss). But once it slowed right down, I had to.
I actually started sax 5 weeks prior to an all inclusive holiday last year. I lost 1.5lb that week, and still ate what I wanted! I just wanted a bit less than I'd ordinarily want on an AI holiday.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 03/07/2024 18:00

@footgoose I love looking back and seeing just how much change has happened. It is so motivating when time is otherwise tough!

Annonymiss123 · 26/07/2024 10:06

Well I've started on Saxenda. I'm the heaviest, fattest I've ever been. 😔222.4lbs.
I really hope this works.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 26/07/2024 15:07

Absolute best of luck @Annonymiss123 . I hope it is successful. Everything crossed!!

I'm 2 weeks away from my holiday, and 3lb from my first target of 11st. I'm not sure I'm going to make it, but I'm as near as damn it! Most days I can't quite believe it tbh. I'm bloody thrilled! I wish you the same joy I've had the whole way through this journey ❤️.

Hello everyone!!!

Still plodding along here, although I started on Wegovy. I have broken the 100 kilos though (just). Strict calories and intermittent fasting plus exercise bike has helped me break the plateau. I am eating 1200 calories roughly. Mostly meat and veg, plus an ice cream a day as it has been in the 30's over here... (photo of the jet d'Eau to send sunshine to the UK)

I had a visitor this week who wanted to try out Saxenda, and she only did three 0.6 doses before deciding it wasn't for her, and now I have this pen in my fridge, opened... I hate waste!!! But I guess there is nothing else that I can do with it, and I can't use it with Wegovy.

Keep going everyone!!!

Well the weight is coming off.... slowly, but I suppose it's better to be slow and steady.

23rd July: 222.4lbs (1st weigh in)
20th August: 214.4lbs (4 weeks)

Total loss: 8lb

Scottishlanza · 25/09/2024 22:09

Is Everyone still on Saxenda or moved on to an alternative or stopped altogether, trying to decide on my next move

ThisMustBeMyDream · 25/09/2024 22:57

I'm still on sax!
I'm 1lb away from 6st loss. I'm at my first goal. My original goal! But now I have a revised goal. 1st 4lb to my final goal. Can't quite believe it most days.
Here's a picture from a few weeks ago on holiday!

Well done @ThisMustBeMyDream - you look fantastic!

As for me…

23rd July: 222.4lbs (1st weigh in)
20th August: 214.4lbs (4 weeks)
24th Sept: 207.2lb (8 weeks)

Total loss: 15lb

Footgoose · 28/09/2024 07:04

Well done @ThisMustBeMyDream . Your picture is fantastic . Glad you are still doing well. I look forward to the final pictures but to be fair you already look great !
Update from me , a year on from stopping Saxenda and the habits I formed while taking the medication have more or less stuck . Im still a healthy weight with a BMI of 24. 7 but I have put on 8lbs which I’ve not intention of keeping . Had a couple of blips including a nasty car accident followed by a period of immobility and emotional / boredom eating . My mind set is back on it now .

ThisMustBeMyDream · 20/10/2024 14:08

I've been reading of some amazing losses in quick speeds on Mounjaro. It's very tempting to switch, but ive come so far and its working. So I'm loathe to change. Has anyone else? It seems Mounjaro is more effective for more people.

I'm now 10st 10, and have just 13lb to goal! I can't believe I'm in to the final stone!

@Footgoose You give me hope that maintaining it will be possible. I'm definitely terrified about keeping it off!

I'm now at the stage where all my "thin clothes" that I was desperate to fit are all too big. I had a bunch of 12s dresses that I wanted to get in to. Well they are all too big now and I'm buying size 10 dresses, size 8 tops and size 12 jeans. It's looking like I'll be a size 8 on top and a 10 on the bottom when this final 13lb is gone. I literally can not believe it.

I'm 40 in 2 weeks. I bloody did it. This whole journey was to not be fat and 40. Well, as DP (DF I suppose given we got engaged this summer!) said this week as he pinched my bum.... "you're fit and 40". I've never been called fit 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

I'm going out to a Halloween do next weekend in this dress. This was in the loft from my early 20s! I'm actually going out like this!!!

I’ve actually had a little cry reading this @ThisMustBeMyDream . You and I are currently more or less the same weight but you look so much more amazing ( I’m 55 ! So maintaining 10 stone plus or minus 5 pounds suits me fine ) . I remember turning 40 and not wanting to be unfit. I lost the weight but gained it again . This time I honestly believe my brain has somehow retrained itself , if it hasn’t then I’m more mindful of the disconnect between head and stomache . I’m happy maintaining with brain and stomache more or less agreeing with each other
As for Monjaro . I have a friend who tried it made her really poorly. This weight loss journey is not the same for everyone. I’m weirdly proud to be a part of yours . I’m a year on from saxander and still living a healthy best life . X

ThisMustBeMyDream · 20/10/2024 18:29

I promise you, the state of my stomach is not amazing. Unfortunately what I hoped was fat appears to just be loose skin now, and what I thought was back fat - same. Its gutting. But if I cover it, no one knows. So that's what I'll do.
Please don't feel upset, everyone's shape is so different, even at the same heights and weights. There's a gazillion things I'd love to change about mine. None of us are ever 100% happy with it. I think accepting it for what it is is all we can do.
You've done absolutely amazingly to keep it off for this long. I'm hoping to follow in your inspirational footsteps ❤️.

Footgoose · 20/10/2024 18:49

not sure if my post sounded different from what I meant …. I had a little cry as I’m so happy for you ! Just read it again and thought it may sound like I’m disappointed myself. Not at all. Im happy for me and really happy for you ! Well done. Don’t worry about the “wobbly bits” …. You notice them more than anyone else. My current Face book profile picture makes a me look like a Bond Girl ( which clearly I’m not ) 😆

ThisMustBeMyDream · 21/10/2024 17:28

Ah I see! I'm glad you don't feel that way!

Nananana90 · 08/10/2025 14:39

Hi everyone I hope I can join in. I started Saxenda four days ago. I'm on 0.6 mg and have just felt very tired. I have no appetite at all I'm struggling to eat. I don't think I will be going up as this seems to suppress my appetite fine for now. Has anyone else completely lost their appetite. I'm going to weigh in weekly to keep myself accountable and post here. My goal is 9 stone so iv a fair bit to go yet.

Well I'm down 3lbs since Wednesday so delighted with that. Think I will go up tomorrow as I am starting to feel really hungry again

Hi @Nananana90 . It’s lovely to see someone posting in this chat again but you may like to note it’s been quiet for a year or so and want to find a more active thread . For what it’s worth , I have used both saxander and Mounjaro . Of the 2 Mounjaro worked best for me . I wish you all the best and I hope you find a supportive tribe to help you along the way . X
