Hi all,

As the last thread is filling up I thought I'd start a new one so we don't get lost.

https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4788207-im-starting-saxenda-this-week

This is the follow up from "I'm starting Saxenda this week" I'm personally journaling my way to a hopefully healthier and happier life. I'm journaling what I'm eating, the weight I'm losing (and gaining) and trying to see the positives outweigh the negatives on a daily basis. I'm joined on this thread and journey by many amazing women who are all very supportive and who are also sharing as much or as little as they like.

I'm finding I'm opening this thread instead of opening the cupboards, the fridge and the food delivery app on my phone and feeling less in my struggles and frustration and writing about my days makes me realize my life isn't all bad.

I'm thankful for all the voices in this thread and feel supported by the sisterhood of women from all over facing the same body struggles as I am.

I post some pictures and photos and I really like it when others do too.

If you're new please join us if you want to and let us know how you're getting on with your Saxenda journey. Come here for compliments when you deserve them and commiseration when you need some. You're welcome whatever your age, wherever you are and if you have 1kg or 10 stone to loose.

I've been on Saxenda for 10 weeks and lost 9.2kg (1st 6.2lbs) so far. I started at over 96kg and am now 87 and a bit. I have at least another 20kg to go to be happy with how I look - but knowing that the Saxenda sisterhood is here makes the journey seem less intimidating.

Where’s everyone getting it from these days? Boots is out of stock

Glorfindels · 05/07/2023 18:26

Welcome everyone new to the thread.

@WinterCarlisle I think most of us are not able to get any further supplies. I have used two different online pharmacies & registered with 2 more, but they are all showing out of stock ( I am checking every day). I am considering alternatives & hoping Wegovy becomes available soon.

I was on a website earlier about weight loss & apparently I have lost the equivalent to the weight of a small microwave or 37 guinea pigs!! No wonder running up stairs feels easier.

I can’t believe there’s this shortage. I’ve only got one and a half pens left and I take the full dose. Is there any clue as to when it will return?

Hi All, long time lurker first time posting here!

Saw someone on Ozempic thread mentioning Rightangled and they actually received quite quickly their purchase so thought id bite the bullet and order too..

I can see there is still some stock for 5 pens, shipping bit expensive 4.99£ or 5.99£, bit pricey compared to Boots but for the moment will do..

After submitting the order i had to provide ID to verify identity.

Urgh, side effects again. Moved up a dose to 2.4mg yesterday and couldn’t keep anything down all day. Not taken it this morning, as still feeling pretty washed out. Think I’ll just go back down to 1.8 for the next dose, for a few days before trying to go back up again. I wish it was just easy and simple!

Footgoose · 06/07/2023 11:52

Hi everyone , new joiners hello, this is a great thread. Thank you @Saxendastarter for moving us all over .

I can’t answer any new joiner’s questions today as quite frankly I’m properly hung over and barely functioning today . 😂. But those of you just starting , I hope it goes well .
Today is the start of week 8 for me and for the first time ever I’ve had a gain . A whole 1lb overnight. I’m putting it down to a massive blip yesterday . I didn’t take my Sax pen to work . Was going to take it when I got home . Opened the fridge and thought f@@k it, and reached for the wine instead. Then DH flashed up the pizza oven and the rest of the night was a diet right off .😂We had fun so I’m not going to sweat it today . I’ll take my dose , stick to my regime and re weigh on Saturday. 🤦‍♀️

I’ve tried, says there are 2 packs of 5 left but when try to actually order days out of stock grrr

Footgoose · 06/07/2023 13:49

@Sotiredmjmmy . Same .

I think I’m resigned to not having any more . I’m in max. Dose of 3ml and 8 ( 9 now ) lbs of a healthy BMI . Ideally I would like to lose another stone but it’s probably not a bad idea to try and lose the last few pounds with Will power alone . After all , this new weight loss will be for life I hope and I can’t stay on saxenda forever .

i wish there was equivalent med for drinking less alcohol mind you . I’ve really appreciated the side effect of not wanting to drink alcohol every day .I do not want to be wrestling with that feeling every day again .

Footgoose · 06/07/2023 13:50

Off a health BMI , not of . 🤦‍♀️

CiderJabs · 06/07/2023 13:57

@Footgoose I'm the same as you. I've resigned myself to having to go solo for the last stone or so. I don't have the money to buy 5 more and I don't think I need that many so I'll use what I have and stop. I have just over one pen left.

The stock issues are a real worry. Those of you on 3ml, should you consider reducing it so as the pen lasts longer? I don't think it's good to stop without gradually reducing it, unless you know you have some on the way.

I've been on 1.2 for the last 4 days. I've not much appetite which is good but I also have a pounding headache. I might do 1.5 tonight, still not sure.

On the plus side, scales show 10st 12.2 this morning so I've gone down a tiny bit more. I should be 9st10 or lower ideally but I'll be happy if I get to 10 and manage to maintain it. That's my main worry after the last fiasco!

Sotiredmjmmy · 06/07/2023 14:23

For anyone else that was trying rightangled (not one I’ve ordered from before so can’t recommend but have plucked for it on off chance they may actually have stock and come good! and the price is fair ish), they have just let me order single pens x 5 , after no stock of 5s

WhiteNumen · 06/07/2023 14:33

Sotiredmjmmy · 06/07/2023 13:16

oh thats unlucky probably they havent updated that bit, ive checked again and seems they have only single pens now. ill keep in mind

also noticed ukmeds had 3x stock yesterday (didnt buy because unsure of them) and out of stock today

also another odd thing, on the main page says 5 pens 261£ (amount i paid) but if i select again (without bin) it says 295£!

They are doing something on their website listing as it’s changing constantly and saying is available but pricing changing, maybe as we are looking at it ha!

BeagleMum1 · 06/07/2023 16:55

I've gone from constipation to the complete opposite, since upping dose to 3mg. Neither is desirable, but I'm now getting struck my terrible cramps and have to quickly dash to the loo. I'm monitoring this and might drop back down to 2.4mg.

CiderJabs · 06/07/2023 17:03

@BeagleMum1 maybe try 2.7?

BinnityBoo · 06/07/2023 19:00

Hello lovelies!

Sorry I've been MIA and thank you for all the well wishes for my mam in the last thread. She thankfully tested negative for malaria and has a bad bout of pneumonia but some mega strong antibiotics and she's on the mend.

I've had a really shit week, me and DH have been looking for a house since last September and this will be the 3rd house sale to fall through right at the last hurdle. Supposed to be moving in tomorrow. We've lost almost 5k just in solicitors/surveys, other fees etc since last September which is sickening and currently living in an air BnB. I'm really aware of the fact I'm emotionally eating right now and really trying so hard to keep a handle on it but I've really not had a great week.

Trying to allow myself some time to process it all, it's just a blip, not the end of the world and all that jazz.

Ive got my first stone off and I'm now 12 stone 3lbs (77.5kg) but haven't weighed myself this week. I really need to get my head back in the zone. I've got 2 pens left, hoping I can get hold of some sharp-ish! Shortage is a bit of worry.

Anyway, I hope you're all good. Welcome to the newbies! ❤️🙌🏻

Everdecreasingcircumferences · 06/07/2023 20:58

Evening all, is anyone else absolutely exhausted? Since going up to 1.8 I'm just shattered, just like I used to feel before starting on HRT a couple of months ago. It makes me want to eat to get my energy back but I'm trying to resist as I really really really want to lose the weight. Food chatter has been strong today, though weirdly less so this evening.
Hope this tiredness goes as I feel it will be the undoing of my efforts otherwise - being tired all the time has definitely played a part in me getting to this size in the first place.

I wore a dress that I used to love today and it looks worse on me than ever - the cut used to be flattering under the bust but since hitting peri I've developed a not so attractive bloat which is accentuating my diastasis recti / umbilical hernia from my last pregnancy (and he's nearly 4 so clearly despite all the physio and exercises it's never going to get any better if I don't lose the fat that's putting even more pressure on it).

Hope you've all had good days, and if not I hope tomorrow is a new day for you.

Saxendastarter · 06/07/2023 21:08

Hi all,

@BinnityBoo Good to hear about your mum, but I'm so sorry about your housing situation - thats generally shit! I'm on holiday from this evening and leaving for malta on Saturday, when I'll have time to catch up properly.

Day 75

Breakfast
Water

Lunch
Chinese ravioli and beef
Ice tea
Chocolate waffle

Supper
Vodka and fizzy water
Buckwheat pancake
Squash
Water

Urgh, has gone from bad side effects to worse. Up all night with D+V. Fairly sure it’s the drug increase (even though I didn’t take it yesterday). Not taking it again today and considering stopping it altogether, or continuing at a lower dose.

on the plus side, I’ve lost 2kg overnight 😂

Namechange602 · 07/07/2023 08:32

Exciting news in our bathroom this morning! Yeah, that sounds a bit odd. Never mind. I stood on the scales and have broken the two stone barrier!

I am so, so chuffed.

Hope you all have an equally fab day x

Saxendastarter · 07/07/2023 08:43

@upanddownandupanddown Oh dear! that sounds rough. I hope you feel better soon.

@Namechange602 well done on 2 stone!

Hallo, I have just ordered from these guys - thanks for the heads up as I am now on my last and second pen. I had a bit of a bad start as I was struck down with serious nausea and diarrhoea so had to stop and restart after a brief holiday. Built myself up to 1.0 as was so scared of the nausea again and so far so good - I find I get a bit nauseous as it wears off i think. I have been sticking to this due to the shortage. I find that it stops the hunger pangs in the day but that at this dose I still have to exert some will power over my mind. It certainly does help with that too. I am also tracking everything I eat on Nutracheck and aiming for about 1300 calories a day. I have lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks so happy with that. Already I feel better and have restarted a couple of exercise classes. Good luck everyone.
