Hello everyone, glad I found the new thread. Don’t know what’s going on but I am absolutely starving the last couple of days, it’s taking a lot of willpower not to just eat all day 😬

Mintearo7 · 21/06/2023 11:22

Joining. Got lots of birthday celebrations coming up so need to try and not overindulge!

Sooverthemill · 21/06/2023 12:57

Oh gosh I thought I'd lost you! So today I'm upping the calories slightly to fool my body. Not much but having late breakfast and lunch as well as evening meal.

Herbiebanannas · 21/06/2023 13:00

5 foot 1 and had hit 65 kg.

Started last week just by only eating veg (apart from potatoes) meat and eggs and only drinking water. No limit on portion sizes.

I lost 3kg in first five days and 2 in the next five. So five kilos in ten days!!

LeftyLou · 21/06/2023 13:09

Thank you for the welcome 😊

I lost 2.5 lbs last week taking me to 12 stone 12.5 and its weigh in for me again this evening. I am quite nervous but I always am.

@Herbiebanannas that is a great result!
I know its a silly question but when you say only water does that mean also no flavoured or sugar free squash?

Pommelegible · 21/06/2023 13:35

Wow @Herbiebanannas thats a lot in a short space of time! What was your eating like beforehand? My diet overall is ok, a good amount of veg, but I eat a lot of (mostly whole grain) carbs and too much chocolate. I kid myself it’s ok because it’s dark chocolate. Plus I like things like peanut butter, seeds, nuts, avocados, full fat yoghurt which are supposedly healthier fats but certainly bump up the calories.

Hoolahoophop · 21/06/2023 14:15

Hey, can I join in. I'm 4'11 and currently 57kg aiming for under 50kg.

I was doing quite well last week, but this week have some hormonal cravings and tiredness so struggling more.

Today I've eaten porridge made with water and semi skimmed milk (and raisins for sweetness)

I forgot to make lunch so got a meal deal from the supermarket, fruit, sushi and flavored water.....with Pop Chips because I couldn't resist.

Tonight I'll eat prawns.....but I don't know what with. Salad, or spaghetti, or maybe in a broth with rice noodles.

I walk around 10k steps most days often more, and try to run 15k a week over three sessions.

I usually have a piece of chocolate every evening. Weekends are difficult, too many treats around.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/06/2023 17:03

Hormonal carb phase and heat got the better of me today. I started the day with a Glucose Goddess type savory breakfast (vegetable omlette) rather than holding off too long, but I needed more to fuel me through a long and very sweaty run. A convenience store was visited en-route.
It's still an overall decent deficit for the day. That's life!

Hi all, I’m new to this thread. I’m 5’3 and have unfortunately gone up to 16st 10lbs which is obviously far, far too much. I’m 44.

Had a blood test this week and, surprise surprise, my blood sugar is too high. The nurse wants to re-do in 4wks so my first aim is to do what I can in that timeframe.

My problem is carbs (both sugar and starch). I eat them all the time. I’m going to stop all refined sugar, only eat between 10am-6pm and cut my portions down. My meals aren’t too bad (except too carby) but the sugary snacking MUST stop.

If anyone has any tips for reducing blood sugar (short term and long term) then I’m all ears. I’ve GOT to use this as a wake up call to sort my shit out.

Mull · 23/06/2023 07:26

Proper weigh in this morning to start - 16st 11lbs. Urgh. Plan for today:

Eat between 11-7 (two meals in that time so no breakfast)
Drink two big bottles of water (about 2l)
No biscuits / chocolate / cake. THIS IS THE BIG ONE 🙄
Have already been for a beach walk with the dog
Walk to pick DD up from school later (been using the car too much recently)

Sooverthemill · 23/06/2023 08:06

@Mull look up Dr Michael Mosley. He reversed his diabetes with a 5:2 diet. His website and book are good (DH works for NHS) I think it’s hard to start but doable

so I had a day yesterday of increasing calories to just over 1100 and felt very full by bedtime. I try to have a 14-16 hour window when I don’t eat but tbh I don’t think it makes much difference to what I eat overall. Today will be different but it depends on how I feel! According to the scales I’ve lost 3.5 lbs since Sunday but I know that’s mainly water but I will take it!

Hoolahoophop · 23/06/2023 09:51

So I might have eaten some of the kids home made flapjack this morning while packing their lunches. But lunch is a big old salad and dinner is fajitas might just skip the wrap and that will be ok. Hopefully still a deficit.

What do you all aim for calorie wise. I worked out my TDEE is about 1400 assuming I do no exercise all day. So I am for 1200 plus eat my exercise calories (as calculated by my Garmin which is not too inaccurate).

It will be a slow drop I think, but eating on average between 1300 and 1800 a day depending on how much exercise I do seems far more achievable than trying to stay lower.

@Sooverthemill 3.5lb is fantastic.

I started weighing in again on the 7th June and was 58.6kg. Today I am 57.2 so that's 1.4kg or 3lb in 16 days. Not great but going in the right direction.

Sooverthemill · 23/06/2023 18:51

@Hoolahoophop my maintenance needs are 1345 so I try for 1200 but this week I’ve been trying for 1000 (1200 yesterday) and will do 1200 most days next week with maybe one 1000 day. It’s not many calories for us short people!

BogRollBOGOF · 23/06/2023 22:37

I've lost an actual lb! 😂🥳
Plus I've got tender boob hormones when I'm normally a bit heavier so double bonus. ½ an inch off my waist too.

Fajitas here tonight too. I'm finding them handy as the DCs love them anyway, and I can skip the wrap and enjoy the spiced meat, veg, salad, salsa and cheese.

I had a good brunch today, bacon, egg, tomato, mushrooms and some asparagus before it totally wilted.

The reduced carb/ carb cycling approach is working and managable, and I was expecting to need patience. I didn't gain it in a week, I won't lose it in a week either and while I don't gain weight rapidly, I don't lose it rapidly either.

LeftyLou · 23/06/2023 23:31

Lost 1 lbs this week. It is coming off slower than last time but feel I am in control of it which is good.

@Sooverthemill well done on the 3.5 that's really good!

@Hoolahoophop remember it is all going in the right direction.

@BogRollBOGOF I love a NSV and losing inches off your waist is fantastic! I'm going to do my measurements.

I have become obsessed with potato waffles and whilst they are only 2.5 or 3 syns on the slimming world plan I am eating too many so going to have to pull that back. Also got to not use the weekend as an excuse to go overboard with treats.

TakingTheHorseToFrance · 23/06/2023 23:40

5ft 2. I weighed 9st 6 at Christmas and am down to 8st 11ish. I started going to the gym twice a week since Feb, walking and jogging and walking about 15k-20k steps (getting up at 6am to go for walks). Two weeks ago I did 3 day chemical diet/millatry diet which basically was severe cal restrictions but it got me under 9stone.

I'm off on holiday in 2 weeks and will no doubt put half of it back on

chasinghappiness · 24/06/2023 10:30

Hey all, can I join too?

5ft 1
SW: 12st 10lbs
CW: 9st 5lbs

Lost the weight so far in under 3 month through stress and now really need to focus on healthier habits and losing at a steadier pace.

Would love to be somewhere in the 7st 10lbs to 8st 3lbs range. Can't even remember the last time I weighed close to that though!

Mull · 25/06/2023 10:27

Hi all, I’m a couple of days in and so far:

Have drunk LOADS of water which I think is having lots of benefits

Weeing approx every 17mins (see point above)!

Have lost a couple of lbs of bloat but won’t weigh ‘properly’ until Fri

Have stuck to two meals within the 11-7 window but have had carbs with each meal. Trying to make better choices, eg sweet potato rather than normal, changing proportion of carbs to protein on my plate

Havent felt too hungry which is good. I’m never hungry before 9am anyway so waiting til 11am is fine although feels weird to have a savoury meal at 11 in the morning!

So, onwards and downwards (on the scales)!

Sooverthemill · 26/06/2023 08:30

@chasinghappiness welcome! I also used to be 7.5 stone! Happiest at 8st 4 but nowadays I’d be pleased to be 8.5.

weigh in day for me is now Sunday and yesterday the scales showed I’d lost 4 .2 pounds since last Sunday

Sooverthemill · 28/06/2023 19:15

Still plodding along. Looks like I've lost another pound but I know it's all ups and downs!

Mintearo7 · 29/06/2023 10:51

I am 5 foot 1 and currently 9st 8lb. Would like to lose a stone by the end of the year or sooner, then see if I want to go further. I’m one year postpartum after my second and not planning to have more, so really want to focus on getting to my pre pregnancy weight now otherwise it will never happen!!

BogRollBOGOF · 29/06/2023 14:22

I'm having a day when I'm not arguing with hormones. I'm not being daft about it, but my body is embracing carbs today. At least I'll have 2-3 good weeks of happy hormones before they hit lethargic/ all the carbs mode again.

Anyway, ibupofen doesn't like an empty stomach 😉

LeftyLou · 30/06/2023 11:18

I gained half this week. So I am left with a 3 lbs loss for June. Not too bad but I am determined to loose more for July.
Not sure how much but might aim to double it.

@chasinghappiness congratulations on your loss so far. I love seeing these type of posts as I feel it can really be done! I bet you feel great too!

Hope everyone has a good week. And a lovely weekend

LeftyLou · 30/06/2023 11:48

Ah sorry @chasinghappiness I feel my last message was insensitive as I see you said it was through stress. That would teach me to read properly. Just saw your weight loss and thought it was admirable

chasinghappiness · 01/07/2023 10:44

@LeftyLou don't worry, it's the only good thing to come out of an awful situation!

Just got to wait for my brain to catch up and see the changes in the mirror now!
