Yesterday I weighed myself and I have lost 6.5 pounds since starting 12 days ago. Pretty happy with that. Then last night I ate a sourdough pizza ( made by DS at his pizzeria and brought to us by him) as we were all too busy prepping for a surprise baby shower for DD1. Felt mild worry but it’s one meal and it won’t break me! I feel better than I have for a long time too

thislittlebird · 04/07/2023 11:56

Hello again, just joining the new thread. I’m plodding on with my weight loss, need to be strict and and keep at it, being tested for type 2 diabetes so no excuses now, the carbs have been mostly ditched and the symptoms have consequently gone away, I hope what I’m doing is working🤞

I’m about 9 stone 8 now, I think, will weigh in properly on Saturday. A couple more cm to come off my waist before it’ll be back to healthy measurements.

thislittlebird · 04/07/2023 11:56

That’s very good loss @Sooverthemill

BogRollBOGOF · 07/07/2023 08:16

I've lost an inch off my waist 😁
My scales are saying 2-3 lighter than they were a couple of months ago too.

Yesterday was supposed to be a fasting day, but I still had heavy legs from workouts last weekend/ early in the week and the carbs were calling me. I made some positive choices, and it was a lighter day than usual, but it wasn't a day to be purist and be miserable about it.
This is why my losses are such slow work! 😂

I am finding that I'm less snacky on other days though so there are positive benefits beyond the 2 days a week.

@BogRollBOGOF i wish I had taken measurements because while the weight loss has slowed I feel like I look much better now so think the measurements would be more impressive than the scales!

@Hoolahoophop previously I’ve always gone by what MFP or other apps allowed me which was invariably 1200. I find that really really hard and so have never stuck to it mostly because it makes me think about food all day. This time I started just tracking what I was actually eating and then used that to cut down. Making portion sizes a bit smaller, thinking about snacks more, slowing down and actually enjoying my snacks instead of guiltily shoving it in my mouth. I’m still eating everything I want just a bit less of it. Most days I’m eating 1400-1600 which is what the apps say should be my maintenance calories rather than weightloss but I’ve lost 2kg this way so it’s working for me at the moment.

Pommelegible · 07/07/2023 16:17

@BogRollBOGOF i also meant to say that your approach of listening to your body is very sensible.

Sooverthemill · 07/07/2023 17:38

Well I've plateaud which is annoying! I may increase then decrease again

Sooverthemill · 09/07/2023 13:18

And on official weigh in day I have actually lost another pound

TheRealProfessorYaffle · 10/07/2023 06:43

Definitely seeing the week 7 slowdown. Happily went from about 8 stone 13 to 8 stone 6 and not moving. Sigh. The only way out is through. The sheer amount you can't eat as a shorty to be in deficit is just criminal! I'm planning to muscle build the hell out of this body so I can eat!

Banshee9 · 10/07/2023 09:14

I am in! 5 foot 0 here and I've been hovering between 9 and 9 stone 6 for the last couple of years or so. All as a result of the constant working from home with related eating and drinking during COVID. Since then I've never shifted it.

Before this I was 8 stone ish max - this 9 stone + is new and it's not a good look on me. Just home from holidays and I look (and felt) dumpy and heavy. When you're this short there is nowhere for the pounds to hide. I want to resolve and get myself to a new, lower plateau.

I've never had to work at it before so I think I've been in denial that I'll actually need to DO something - I used to be one of those annoying people who could eat anything and it wouldn't affect me.

So I've downloaded MFP to keep an eye on what I'm eating (and drinking) to try and create some new habits and shift some unhelpful ones.

That's a great approach.
I'm too lazy to religiously calorie count, but it is useful doing an audit to check your habits and see what needs tweaking. Especially when it's for modest amounts that crept on over time and most of your routine is fine.

I'm having a good Monday. Didn't feel fabulous to start so had a few nuts to get me through my fitness class. A greek salad for lunch. A few nuts and a small bar of dark chocolate for a mid-afternoon perk-up, and about to have pork kebabs and salad for dinner. Just drunk water. Had some cherries too. I've not had any for ages, so they're definitely a treat by any standard.
It's definitely easier applying restraint two days a week, even if I'm not purist about the calories involved. I'm seeing positive results with patience anyway and I'm feeling good on it.

I have gained for 3 weeks in a row now. Only small ones half then 1 then another half. I thought I had a fairly good week last week too.

I think I might use slimfast for breakfast and lunch this week see how I get on with that and make a slimming world meal for the evening. Less snacking.

On a more positive note I have been measuring myself in cms and have definitely lost some of them.

I cannot give up!

BogRollBOGOF · 13/07/2023 17:21

Having a "fasting" day again. I try to hang on until 1pm before eating, but was ravenous this morning. I gave in half an hour early and had a "fry-up" of mushrooms, tomatoes, poached eggs, and a couple of rashers of bacon. I felt much better then!

Normally I'm distracted by exercise routines getting me out of the house, but I'd had to do a swap around for a school event so was in the house around the danger zone.

Still making progress by a mix of having a slim fast shake or bar a few times a week and sensible portions the rest of the time. Down another pound despite having had fish and chips this week!

Sooverthemill · 18/07/2023 08:18

Still hanging in here. Have you all left?

KatieBenz · 18/07/2023 09:34

Hello. Can I join? I’ve just booked a last minute holiday and need to lose as much as I can in 4 weeks 😬. BMI of 28. Need to lose just over a stone to get into normal bmi. That’s not going to happen in 4 weeks - half a stone would be good as then my size 14’s would be comfortable.
wine and snacks are my downfall. I actually eat healthy home cooked meals, but then blow it in the evening.

Mintearo7 · 18/07/2023 10:25

Still here but I’m afraid to say after my last big social occasion in early July I’ve fallen off the bandwagon, allowing myself far too many treats. I really need to start getting back in check again.

Toothiepegg · 18/07/2023 17:16

I'm joining if that's ok.

I lost a stone by calorie counting but the last two weeks I've been out of control, eating everything and anything.

Decided to get back on it this morning after weighing myself and realised I have put 5lbs back on in a the last fortnight.

Thought it might help me if I joined a weight loss thread, so here I am. 👋

SizzlestheSausageDog · 18/07/2023 17:32

Well I'm 5'1 and 60kg, I'd like to get to 57kg, my pre pregnancy weight then see how things look.
My arms just look so flabby now 😭 more veg, less carbs for me.

Sooverthemill · 19/07/2023 07:08

@KatieBenz yes of course, we are friendly ( when we are here!) we know the pain of only a couple of pounds making a huge difference

im stable which is annoying so back to Slimfast replacement for a couple of days

I’ve done pretty much to same things. Although I haven’t dared to weigh myself. Welcome and we can do this!!

Toothiepegg · 19/07/2023 10:15

Thanks for the welcome.

Toothiepegg · 19/07/2023 10:25

Oh no, I've just realised I should be 5'3 or under. I'm 5'4, please can I stay 😁

fiesta · 19/07/2023 15:06

Hi everyone. Can I join please. I am 5ft2 and have been doing intermittentvfastung since 12 May but I went on holiday for 2 weeks end of June. I started at 78 kg. Now I am 67kg. My aim is 56kg which would be the middle of my BMI. Still a long way to go.

BogRollBOGOF · 19/07/2023 17:45

Still plodding on a few ounces at a time here 😂

I'm seeing 9.6/ 9.7 much more on the scales, so I've lost roughly 3lb in 2.5 months. I'm calling that successful though. It's the right direction. I'm feeling better on it. I'm seeing an inch or so difference on my waist. I'm beginning to bounce a bit more.

I'm hoping I can keep it up in the holidays. It will be harder without my usual classes that distract me through the morning, plus the company of my young, hollow-legged carb-fuelled growth spurt fiends 😂 But in the past couple of months, keeping it simple by delaying my first meal twice a week, and focusing the day around protein, fibre and a bit of fat is doable. I've got a "plan" for my exercise and aim to run or strength work alternate mornings to keep a routine... well it's good to have an intention isn't it? 😁
