@Sugarfree23 I see him once a week but I do the workouts he suggested to me 4 times a week, plus 12,000 steps per day. On the days I’m not training in the gym my plan is to do a spin class.
I have been counting calories and exercising for 10 days and just saw my first proper loss, only 1.5 pounds but hopefully the beginning of a 24 pound journey.
I have smart scales and the graph section is so depressing - June 2022 I was 20 pounds lighter than I am now.
@Forgoodnesssakewhatnow I also need to cut booze - this week I have cut back but not seeing the losses I need so will have to cut it out completely and then consider how (if ever) I can add it back in without gaining all the weight back.

@SunshineAndSlushies sorry you have been so unwell - are you feeling better now? I’m also 10 stone 4!

Forgoodnesssakewhatnow · 16/08/2023 08:24

Wow, you’re doing loads @Sugarfree23.

I’m considering a virtual PT but I keep having a circular conversation with myself - a PT would help but I can’t get to the gym (young children and DH is renovating the house every evening). But then I used to have daily PT sessions 10 years ago, so I know what workouts I could do. Is it worth paying for someone to tell me what to do when I could do it myself? The virtual ones are still quite a lot of money.

One of the reasons I went missing was because we’ve just been though a very busy period with the renovation, where I was also decorating every evening. It does mean that I now have a home gym. The challenge is now to create the habit of using it.

Sugarfree23 · 16/08/2023 11:36

It's not me that's doing loads, it's @Gensola.

Over summer I've being doing circuits midweek and bodypump at weekends.
Kids are back in school, so I want to add a couple of 30 mins swims and PT session, I'm thinking weekly for 6-8 weeks then fortnightly
But might switch things round once the PT gets involved.

SunshineAndSlushies · 16/08/2023 18:01

Thanks for the messages, covid has knocked me, I was feeling so much better but needed to take today off work as I was horribly fatigued. It's only been a couple of days back at work, after nearly 4 weeks off so I'm trying to be kind to myself.

@Sooverthemill I'm the same when it comes to the weather, it massively impacts my mood! Hoping all is well with your daughter, as well as can be.

@Forgoodnesssakewhatnow oh how lovely you are still here, how are your little ones? your youngest isn't so little now I imagine!
You always do well when you cut out the booze if I recall correctly. I agree with the approach, enjoy your break and start afresh when you are back.
Re the exercise, you know what to do - it's just the 'doing'. There's something about a virtual PT that always feels a little 'off' to me, if you know what I mean, but it a scheduled time will help you? otherwise, we'll keep you accountable!

@Gensola congrats on the loss! I feel your pain when looking at graphs, I keep losing and then gaining the same 1st. This thread keeps me accountable though so let's give it another try!

@Gensola @Sugarfree23 sounds like you are both doing well on the exercise front!

B - nothing (only because I was sleeping)
L - spanish omelette, and roasted veg
S - cherries
D - baked tofu, and basmati rice https://ilovevegan.com/baked-sriracha-soy-sauce-tofu-2-quick-easy-recipes/

I am a cheese addict I'm talking consumed at 2 of 3 meals a day so I'm attempting to be cheese and pasta free for this week! My weaknesses are cheese, bread, pasta - I can eat none of these in sensible portions. Today is day 3 cheese free, I have never gone more than 2 days without cheese before!

Exercise - I started pilates classes a couple of months ago, once a week, occasionally twice but I've not been in a month due to covid, and now my pilates instructor is away until early Sept.

For accountability, I'm committing to doing a pilates video before Sunday. Baby steps

I will also dig out my dumbbells if anyone can suggest an easy starter plan

Gensola · 17/08/2023 11:38

Just weighed in - started with my PT on 7th Aug and was 10 stone 4 now 9 stone 13. Delighted! Just can’t wait to be further away from the 10 mark as right now I feel it could bounce back up really easily.
“official” weigh in with PT tomorrow morning so really hope it sticks at 9.13 or lower

SunshineAndSlushies · 17/08/2023 12:05

@Gensola That is amazing!! What is your goal weight?

I'm 5'1, and my first goal is to get to under 10st, then set future goals in half stone increments. Ideally I'd like to get down to 8st7 but I'll settle for 9st or just under if I can make it.

I am weighing in tomorrow. Is Friday still a regular weigh in day for everyone?

Food today:
B - nothing
L - leftovers from last nights dinner. Baked tofu and rice
D - frozen french fries, veggie sausages and baked beans

I have limited groceries in, and I'm also trying to use up freezer food.

Had to take another day off sick, still fatigued and I'm trying not to worry about work building up. Easier said than done!

Sugarfree23 · 17/08/2023 12:41

@Gensola that's a huge drop in 10days. Well done you.

Gensola · 17/08/2023 12:45

My goal is 118 pounds so 8 stone 6 I think (?) I started at 145 😩

SunshineAndSlushies · 17/08/2023 12:50

@Gensola looks like we're on a similar path.

I expect to be about 143-145lbs when I weigh in tomorrow, and would love to be 119lbs but not sure how realistic that is. It's been years since I was that weight!

The lowest I made it to was 124lbs about 6 years ago

Gensola · 17/08/2023 17:44

I am determined to at least get there even if I decide it’s now too light for me/too hard to maintain. I was 7 stone in 2014 and that is too small, but I’m hoping 8.4-8.7 could be a good range. Only one way to find out 😄🏋🏻

SunshineAndSlushies · 18/08/2023 09:19

Weighing in at 10st2.8 /142.8lbs

Way better than the 10st5 I thought it might be. I tend to weigh myself every couple of days but only ever record the Friday weight. Daily weighing doesn't work for everyone, but I like to see the fluctuations, and I take it all with a pinch of salt

I stuck to yesterday's meal plan with the addition of an ice lolly, and 2 extra sausages late at night

Today
B - none
L - 2 veggie sausages, 2 fried eggs, baked beans. I think I might have some hash browns in the freezer to add to this
D - tbc

Sooverthemill · 18/08/2023 14:53

You people changing your names!!!
Thanks for asking, I’m okay and DD isn’t too bad at the moment . No emergency dashes for a while just hanging on to those epipens!
im still stick but that’s okay, I can do a big push but at the moment I have other things on my mind

BogRollBOGOF · 20/08/2023 18:37

I'm hoping my mojo is coming back. I knew the holidays would be tough, but I've been unexpectedly derailed by being ill twice in a month with two different bugs. Still in school holiday mode for another 2+ weeks, but my holiday away is done and I'm feeling ready to find healthier habits again.

The holiday wasn't too bad. We self-catered, although the kitchen was stupidly basic, as in it was a choice of table knife or blunt bread knife, so at least some real food was consumed, as well as the cider. DH turns into a sugar demon on holiday and I have at least accepted what I actually wanted and declined what I didn't want rather than mindlessly eating.

More water. More salad.
Get back in the exercise routine.
Reduce the shock when term starts!

Forgoodnesssakewhatnow · 21/08/2023 11:21

Holiday is done with here too, I’m 9st 8lbs exactly so will try to bring it down by 0.5lb per week.

The plan is mostly no alcohol and the healthier meals in the repertoire, nothing too diet-y as it makes me think about food and eat more.

Gensola · 22/08/2023 12:15

Down to 138 pounds / 9 stone 12. Goal is still a very long way off at 118llb or 8 stone 6. I am now 2.5 weeks into my 12 week PT plan, and I feel good. My main issue was drinking wine then eating crap when hungover so have cut alcohol almost completely and am full of energy.
I have been suffering from constipation due to upping my protein, my body seems to function best on UPF and white carbs etc, probably because that’s what I was raised on. Hopefully it will get used to the new food soon.
@Forgoodnesssakewhatnow that seems super sustainable as a plan 😊

ImperfectMamma · 23/08/2023 08:44

Can I join? I'm 5ft 2 and 10 stone 3 :-( My problem is that I do well for a couple of days and then ruin it by bingeing when I get a moment to myself (almost as a treat.) I'll try to be accountable here!

Gensola · 23/08/2023 12:42

Hey @ImperfectMamma that was pretty much my starting weight -I’m also 5’2 so it put me into the overweight category.
I also lost about a stone last year and then treated myself to the point where it was all back on! For me it’s a glass of wine which leads to two more than a load of carbs, plus no energy the next day so not enough movement. So I’ve cut out booze almost completely for now.

Hi @Gensola I could have written this, I do exactly the same. I'm also awful when I have my period and just fall off the calorie restriction wagon immediately. Sounds like you've done really well- so pleased for you!

BogRollBOGOF · 23/08/2023 19:13

I got on the scales to see the post-holiday damage and was pleased to see that it was 9.8.8, still under the 9.10 that I started off at and am so slowly shedding ounce by ounce.
Until term and normal routines resume, I'm concentrating on getting back into good nutrition habits and back on a regular running pattern. Not necessarily losses, but preparing for that.

It's amazing how much I notice the way 2-3 lb feels on the way my body moves.

Hi there, I would love to join in. I’m 5ft2 and 10st 3 after having my second baby nearly 2 and a half years ago! I would love to get to 9 stone and I’m looking at Christmas as a good target. My problem is snacking in the afternoon when my kids are asking for food! And general comfort eating as I’m home a lot with them and it’s hard work some days. Hoping to make some changes as I don’t want this weight to be my new normal- I just don’t feel myself anymore!

Welcome in!

They're my kind of issues. I find it helps to avoid sweetness as long as possible through the day and concentrate on fibre, protein, fat and complex carbs.

I do seem to have mastered the morning snack craving this year though, so that is progress.

OP posts:
Verbenabon · 24/08/2023 20:48

Yes definitely- having sweet things early on in the day just spirals! I was having a savoury breakfast (boiled eggs on toast mainly) until the summer holidays but I’ve got out of the habit. Must pick that back up!

I also didn’t realise how my weight gain is probably more noticeable because of my height until recently… sounds obvious but it never really twigged with me!

Forgoodnesssakewhatnow · 25/08/2023 09:47

Welcome @Verbenabon 👋

After posting that my post holiday weight was 9st 8, I was then 9st 8.8 all week - the same as you I think @BogRollBOGOF. I guess I was dehydrated from travelling the first day.

I slipped up on the no booze and had one gin and tonic this week but did go to the pub with friends and just had slimline tonics which is unheard of! But actually, I had just as much fun.

Friday is weigh in day but after being 9st 8.8 all week I’ve had a sudden drop of 1.5lbs which seems too good to be true overnight. So I’m going to delay a day and see what I’m on tomorrow. If I log it and it’s an anomaly, I’ll be demotivated next week when it seems like it’s all going in the wrong direction.

Gnomegnomegnome · 27/08/2023 22:56

Please may I join you?
I feel like reading this that I found my people!

I’m 5’’2 and unsure of current weight but I’ll weigh tomorrow! I had always been 6-7 stone which I know was under weight according to the bmi calculator but my goal is 7 and a half stone/8 stone. Due to medication I went up to over 9 stone (still within a healthy bmi but not for me). I struggle with other weight loss threads as because when you put anything under 9 stone people mention eating disorders etc without taking into account that we are shorties!

I have a PT that I see once a week and she sets work outs for another 2 gym sessions a week. I also walk a minimum of 10000 steps a day. My diet is mostly good but could do with some improvement (hello rum and coke in my hand).

BogRollBOGOF · 28/08/2023 23:42

Hello!

Yes, it is hard having sensible conversations on this theme out in the real world. It's also frustrating that small person losses can also be very small and gradual especially if there's not far to get you back to your comfort size. People can easily fluctuate by more than I want to lose over months within a day or two. We're all built differently.

Since my 20s are a distant memory (well biologically anyway) it is a delicate balancing act between maintaining a healthy weight and enjoying life, but people don't want to see that there is effort involved, or if you do vidisibly make healthier choices like a salad or declining dessert, they don't see why you would have to make that choice. It can feel very much like it gets shut down, yet others have a licence to discuss it as they wish.

Counting down the days until term time routine restarts... at least last week was back on form for exercise.
