5st to loose, 26 weeks, 1:1 diet

Hallo everyone,

Jumping on here as I have set a target to loose as much weight as possible before Christmas.

Starting stats
16st 2lbs
5ft 6
Age 39
Size 18

Due to other health issues I need a healthy BMI to qualify for a breast reduction and life insurance, both of which I'd like to have by 2024.

Target weight is 11st. Going to start on 1:1 when I'm back from working away next week so I can get my delivery, see how that goes for a couple of months.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Xx

welcome back @HippyChickMama - we missed you, jump on in, post all sorts - literally just writing things out somewhere public really helps. We've got this - 20 weeks till Christmas.

@Bumblebeebum23 - whoop whoop, a loss when you have had a busy food week is bloody marvellous. Well done you :) Looking forward to seeing what you post as your loss before holidays Smile

@ZombiePara welcome, welcome - iIsupplemented 1:1 with a daily banana and had a salad and some chicken breast or prawns with some of the meals too and lost weight doing that - I found just having 800 cals really hard to walk the dog (felt really faint), 1200 felt better (x4 products plus 400 in extra food).

@Londonnight - I cannot wait to be able to write what you have written, you must feel absolutely amazing. Remind me when did you start?

@SuffolkUnicorn - I found 3 protein bars in aldi for £3.70, 21g protein in each, 3g sugar. I love them, usually have one a day as my 'treat'.

Hi, wondering if I can join you? I have been dieting more seriously on and off for the last 4 years and in 2019 lost 4 stones but lockdown etc saw some of my weight loss go back on in chunks.
Restarted in May - again- and so far I have lost 1st 2lbs, helped along recently by my relationship ending- or at least in a pretty critical condition!
I tend to try to do IF and restrict calories although I find that it works best for me when I say nothing is forbidden and I just try to adjust intake in other ways or at other times.

May SW 17 st 8lbs
Thread SW 16 st 6lbs
Interim TW 15st - Christmas 23
TW - 13st - not been close to this for probably 25+ years

I will post daily or regularly to keep me focused.

Londonnight · 09/08/2023 06:43

@oddwellingtonboots I started this journey 26 February 2023.

HippyChickMama · 09/08/2023 09:48

I weighed myself this morning, I'm only supposed to weigh in on a Monday but the scales were just there. 3lbs off since Monday, although I didn't start tracking until Monday, I did a lot of walking last week including a mountain hike so that's probably helped

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 09/08/2023 13:02

@Hurryupharry I'll take the liberty of saying of course you're very welcome.

@HippyChickMama I know opinions vary on how often you should weigh yourself but for me I try to think that there are two different (but related) things; how much you weigh and how much fat you've burnt. I like to weigh myself at the same time every day but recognise that my weight fluctuates quite a bit so I track the highest reading of the week and the lowest, and then compare the highest reading against the highest reading of the previous week and the lowest reading against the lowest reading of the previous week and then tends to work quite well for me in terms of averaging out bumps and fluctuations which might otherwise be really upsetting.

oddwellingtonboots · 10/08/2023 09:16

@Londonnight - thats amazing in such a short space of time. Have you reached TW now? Will you carry on 1:1? Are you on 3 products a day + 600 cal dinner?

@Hurryupharry - very welcome to join, 15st goal by Christmas is great - 19 weeks to go :) I remember being 12st 6 years ago - it creeps on doesn't it.

@HippyChickMama woooohooo! 3lbs is ace, which mountain?

HippyChickMama · 10/08/2023 09:45

@oddwellingtonboots I'm hoping it stays off and more comes off by the end of the week. It was Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), up the Watkin Path but only as far as the waterfalls. Lovely walk if anyone is in the area and enjoys hiking

Just to say Xenical is the same as Orlistat, Xenical contains 120mg of the drug Orlistat. Xenical is just a brand name.

I have Orlistat from my gp prescribed at 120mg so is the same as the branded version of Xenical.

Over the counter with no prescription you can buy Orlistat but these only contain 60mg of orlistat, and are branded versions for example Alli.

Hope that clears a few things up :)

@HippyChickMama thats really close to my house! stunning isn't it.

Thank you for the welcome @howdoesatoastermaketoast and @oddwellingtonboots this seems a lovely friendly and supportive thread. Looking forward to seeing what differences we can achieve in the coming weeks.
I am 1lb down this morning so need to maintain that ( or improve on) for my Saturday check in. Weekly target to hit 15st for Christmas is 1lb a week so hopefully achievable. Well that’s the theory 🤞🏼
Hope everyone is having a good week.

HippyChickMama · 10/08/2023 11:58

@oddwellingtonboots it's beautiful, as is the whole of Eryri. You're very lucky to live there, we are hoping to make the move in 8-10 years once the youngest heads off to uni. I'm learning Welsh in preparation as I'd need it for my job there and we're hoping to live in Beddgelert

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 10/08/2023 13:03

From tracing family history we had family in Beddgelert, so we went for a visit. Lovely place.

It's my favourite place in the world. Dh and I both have Welsh ancestry and a very Welsh surname but have lived in England our whole lives, I spent pretty much every holiday as a child in Wales and for as long as I can remember, it's felt like home to me. Very strange feeling, and I'm not in the slightest bit 'woo' but it feels like I belong there. We visit as much as we can and I always feel so sad when we leave.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 10/08/2023 17:37

@HippyChickMama I know what you mean,

My dh ancestor worked here https://www.syguncoppermine.co.uk/ stunningly beautiful valley, as you emerge from the mines it's just breathtakingly beautiful.

We've been there, such a lovely area. I've sidetracked the thread talking about Wales! Back to the diet, today I didn't have breakfast as I wasn't hungry, was starving by 11am but held out until lunch and had salad with a couple of slices of ham, two boiled eggs and a tablespoon of reduced calorie mayo followed by a pot of sugar free jelly. Dinner was a barbecue chicken ready meal thing from the reduced calorie range (6 ww points) and more salad. I've got loads of points left but I'm not hungry so will just have my tea and two biscuits later

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 10/08/2023 20:54

Well done @HippyChickMama

I managed to stick to my target calories of 1450 exactly. 200 kcal chocolate huel for breakfast and the same for lunch plus a pitta pocket, afternoon snack was 2 sticks of celery today, so I was on 500, so I had half a can of cider and (veggie) hotdogs for dinner.

I try to have the high calorie dinners on days where I managed to keep the calorie count really low during the day.

I'll update now as we're about to go on Holiday
6kg in the last 6 weeks [6.3kg loss high to high, 5.7kh loss low to low]

10.7kg loss since the diet began

Warm regards to everybody I hope you're doing ok in yourselves.

Londonnight · 11/08/2023 07:40

@oddwellingtonboots

I would like to lose around another stone. According to NHS charts I am still overweight [ though no longer obese 😄}
I have two products a day, {breakfast and lunch}, then a meal of 600 calories in the evening.
I am going to work with my consultant as to whether I carry on with some products once I reach target. I will probably stick to one product a day as I really don't want to put the weight back on. I have tried too many times in the past, lost weight, then put it back on, and more.

Challenge to come is going away for a week in September at a half board hotel , so it will be interesting to see my weight once I get back.

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 11/08/2023 16:36

@Londonnight I'm really impressed with how far you've come and how well you're still doing. As you say forming some long term habits to keep it off is an important step.

Hurryupharry · 12/08/2023 11:25

Morning. Hope everyone is doing well and has some nice plans for the weekend.
My 1lb dip earlier in the week has disappeared so it’s a STS 16 st 6lbs for me today. I don’t think I’m overeating but my calories are too carb dense I think. I am choosing things that I want- bread, biscuits etc, staying within calories roughly but clearly not enough to make a difference. It’s been a difficult couple of weeks emotionally. I need to get my head back on this, including more exercise/activity.

HippyChickMama · 14/08/2023 08:42

Morning, hope everyone had a good weekend! Weigh in day today and my official first week's loss is 4lb. I'm pleased with that considering it was ds's birthday on Saturday. I tracked and used my weekly points as well as that day's points and stayed within them, however, it involved a lot of empty calories and carbs.
@Hurryupharry previous experience (Slimming World and their unlimited pasta days) has told me that I am carb sensitive and have to keep pasta, rice, bread and potatoes low to lose weight.
Im planning to start exercising this week to try to accelerate the weight loss, running every other day and some yoga in between. I'll be returning to my martial arts classes in September too

Bumblebeebum23 · 14/08/2023 08:53

Nearly 3lbs off this week 😊 weighed in at 14st 6lbs this morning, so much better than last week.

1 stone 3lbs in total since June 😊

Off on my (all-inclusive) holiday tomorrow, so it could be a tricky week, but I'm going to try my best to make mindful choices and do lots of swimming.

Hope you have all had a good week. Pictures of Wales look beautiful and sounds like everyone is doing well 😊

oddwellingtonboots · 14/08/2023 10:34

Morning all, I've switched my Friday morning weigh ins to Mondays as it helps to focus my mind around the weekend a bit.

Delighted to report a 1lb loss this week which I didn't think would happen because I've eaten what feels like a tonne of carbs and chocolate this week as I've had a period which I don't usually have - the pill I'm on atm is weird. However, i've been pretty active - fitbit logged 481 active zone minutes! Anyone else using fitbit?

Thread start weight: 16st 2lbs
Today: 15st
5ft 6 / age 39

Total loss - 1st 2lbs, just behind @Bumblebeebum23 - have an amazing holiday!

Bumblebeebum23 · 14/08/2023 10:46

Wow well done @oddwellingtonboots 👏 so close to the 14s too 😀 keep going 👍 I am using a fitbit too. Trying to ensure I do at least 30 active mins a day as a minimum x

Hurryupharry · 19/08/2023 08:49

I seem to be stuck on a plateau. I haven’t been really strict on calories or intake but neither have I been eating excessively. I have downloaded my fitness pal and I am going to log foods so I can track a bit better. I have joined a local leisure centre on a six week offer - gym, swim, classes etc. So far so good. Focusing on that, my daughters and a bit of a house and life audit while I wait to find out if my relationship is salvageable. I don’t think it is sadly so distracting myself with other things for the time being.
Hope everyone is doing okay. Have a great weekend 💪🏻☺️

howdoesatoastermaketoast · 19/08/2023 20:52

So I just got back from my holiday. To share the good news I was delighted that I didn't need a seatbelt extender (there OR back!) that did feel really nice.
