5st to loose, 26 weeks, 1:1 diet

oddwellingtonboots · 13/06/2023 22:10

Hallo everyone,

Jumping on here as I have set a target to loose as much weight as possible before Christmas.

Starting stats
16st 2lbs
5ft 6
Age 39
Size 18

Due to other health issues I need a healthy BMI to qualify for a breast reduction and life insurance, both of which I'd like to have by 2024.

Target weight is 11st. Going to start on 1:1 when I'm back from working away next week so I can get my delivery, see how that goes for a couple of months.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Xx

Does anyone else equate being overweight with being miserable and being at target with being happy? I'm quite sure I award my value to my reflection, and am only truly happy when I am at target. Being unfit drags my mental health down, but it's not just that, I feel like a second class citizen because I feel ugly.

People around me don't seem to notice, although I do tell them, the impact is on me, and caused by me!!!

X

Bumblebeebum23 · 09/09/2023 13:43

I'm similar @Willowview. For me, it's all linked to my levels of confidence and self-esteem. Sadly, much of my self-worth comes from external sources (eg. people's/society's judgement of me.) When I am bigger, I feel self-conscious and inadequate. The silly thing is, I would never ever judge people as harshly as I judge myself.

Willowview · 09/09/2023 14:31

Crazy isn't it, I'm the same, my harshest critic.

You've hit the nail on the head, it's about low self-esteem x

GeorgiePorge · 09/09/2023 14:49

Hi all...just discovered this thread and hoping to join in.
finally got my arse in gear 3 weeks ago having put 2st on through covid and then 2 pregnancies. I already had a couple of stone at least to lose back then so a fair chunk of weight to lose now 😪

I'm 5ft 6
SW 100kg
CW 95kg
TW 66kg

it's great to see people's amazing results so far, and nice to know I'm not alone. I'm miserable in the heat so feeling pretty motivated at the moment to get to target weight by next summer!

Willowview · 09/09/2023 14:54

Good afternoon and welcome @GeorgiePorge , I feel ya, it's so crap isn't it, swimming would be lush right now x

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/09/2023 19:29

@Bumblebeebum23 so story to hear you've been feeling so poorly, I hope the doctor gave you something (medicine / advice) which has been helping.

@SuffolkUnicorn Gosh it is a big decision but honestly an understandable one, I'll second the people asking you to keep us posted with how it's going.

@Willowview the trend is what matters but changing scales and going up must feel so frustrating. I measured myself with a new tape measure and had lost SO MANY inches, until I realised the tape measure was just wrong - ho hum c'est la vie.

@Hurryupharry yay! awesome work on reaching your milestone!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/09/2023 19:30

Hi @GeorgiePorge welcome aboard

Bumblebeebum23 · 10/09/2023 20:11

Thank you @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk unfortunately it's gone from bad to worse. Ended up at the out of hours gp today. She has given me codeine and stronger antibiotics and booked me in with the ENT at the hospital for Tues (which happens to be my bloody birthday 😫) where I will probably have to have some minor surgery. It is so swollen and painful that I haven't been able to eat at all today. I am struggling with water but just about managing with a straw. I've cried twice today, which is unheard of for me. Feeling very sorry for myself. No doubt I will have a loss tomorrow, but definitely not the way to do it! Can't believe I am ill again after being unwell on holiday too. I very rarely get poorly so it's really frustrating.

Sorry to vent. Well done to everybody this week, and welcome to the newcomers 👋 I really do appreciate this thread xx

Willowview · 10/09/2023 20:47

Oh FFS, blummin tape measure @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk 🤣🤣🤣, thanks x

@Bumblebeebum23 I'm sorry to hear that, sounds awful. Bad luck about your Birthday too! Sods law!!! Terrible when you can't escape from constant pain, I hope you can sleep x 💐

Bumblebeebum23 · 10/09/2023 22:05

Thank you, @Willowview. It's the worst pain I have ever been in and feels never-ending. Honestly, I think I would rather give birth again!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 10/09/2023 22:56

Oh @Bumblebeebum23 that's awful poor you. Yes whilst certainly not what you need on your birthday, hopefully they'll be able to sort it out.

Bumblebeebum23 · 11/09/2023 08:02

Well, Monday weigh in 13st 12lb. I should be thrilled....out of the 14s and 1st 11lbs total loss but unfortunately, I am aware that this loss is primarily due to being unwell and am under no illusion that some of this may go back on when I can actually eat again. Going to try and get some sort of meal replacement shakes today so I can actually take something other than water in

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 11/09/2023 08:15

starting weight 150kg
most recent milestone achieved 142.5kg =5% weight reduction
current weight 135.7kg
target weight 60kg

next milestones 135kg = 10% weight reduction (soo soo close)
127.5kg = 15% reduction (early to mid November?)

This quarter weight loss goal was 10kg
(week 11 of 13) actual weight loss 14kg

Pleased with my progress so far (14kg is a little over 2 stone) and to be so close to my next milestone.

Hurryupharry · 11/09/2023 08:16

@Bumblebeebum23 what you are describing with your mouth and the pain sounds unbearable. What a horrible time you’ve had. Barely being able to even drink water over the weekend must have been a nightmare. Hoping that the new antibiotics start to bring some relief. I think you’re going to need a second birthday on a day when you’re fully recovered xx

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 11/09/2023 08:19

nutrition shakes sound like a good idea Bumble, undoubtedly not all of the weight loss will be burnt fat and your weight will bounce back a little once you're eating and drinking again. But getting better is the only real concern at the moment.

Thinking of you, I personally think you get a raincheck on a slap up meal for your birthday to be redeemed when you're feeling up to it.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 11/09/2023 08:20

@Hurryupharry great minds think alike.

yeah totally have a second birthday when you're up to celebrating it

Hurryupharry · 11/09/2023 08:25

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk you’re smashing it ⭐️ that’s fantastic progress. I find the more I see results the more committed I become. Still a challenge though every day for those of us so used to using food for lots of reasons apart from hunger.
I have had a horrible cold and although my food choices haven’t been bad, I have eating more of what I fancied. Unfortunately eating also seemed to help me feel a bit more ‘with it’ so I have definitely upped my intake over the weekend.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 11/09/2023 08:42

@Hurryupharry I totally get it! I didn't get to be this size by having a healthy relationship with food! It's a coping mechanism for some people, and unhealthy as overeating is it's certainly more healthy / or at least as healthy as smoking or drinking to excess. Especially when the kids were younger food has been an emotional crutch, in the evening after the kids were in bed and whether I deserved a bowl of ice cream totally depended on how much the day had sucked not how many calories I'd already eaten that day.

Sometimes it's a form of self harm; but as methods of killing yourself go it is pretty slow, so at least you have time to get better.

When my mental health is good I can lose weight, I know what to do. But when my mental health isn't good I can't actually do it. If I'm too stressed, anxious, overloaded then it's too much - the meal planning, buying the right ingredients at the right times so that you can cook the planned meal, cooking the planned meal rather than whatever is quickest and easiest, counting calories.

Nope if my mental health isn't good I can't do it.
Crappy mental health and I put weight on.

oddwellingtonboots · 11/09/2023 09:48

Hallo everyone! Sorry I've been so quiet; life has well and truly taken over - I've been to a couple of festivals and then work got super busy. I've been very, very active but have eaten everything so have been dreading getting on the scales and back on this thread now summer holiday mindset is fading away.

However, bit the bullet this morning and here we are.

VERY pleasantly surprised.

SW: 16st 2lbs
Current: 14st 9lbs
Total loss - 1st 5lbs!!!
(age 39, 5ft 6)

On both arms, both legs, waist, hips and chest my total inches loss is 26.
I was 15st the last time I checked into this thread mid-August.

I'm definitely getting back on the water drinking, calorie counting etc this week.
I've got a whole box of New You to try, so might start that soon.

I'll catch up on the thread now.
Total loss of 2-3 stone this year seems doable now. I'd love to be 13st by Christmas.

Hope everyone is keeping well, so happy to see this thread so busy.

Good morning ladies x

Mindset is the only key isn't it, I'm having to force myself to adopt a positive attitude today 🙄, I would be lost without this thread, I need the accountability and understanding.

Well done indeed on weight loss AND enjoying your summer @oddwellingtonboots WIN WIN!!!

@Bumblebeebum23 how are you?

Willowview · 11/09/2023 11:22

Apologies ladies I didn't read far enough back.

missed your results @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk you're on a roll! Happy days!

Shakes sound great @Bumblebeebum23 , you'll be so drained from the pain and not eating.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 11/09/2023 14:01

thanks for the kind words @Hurryupharry and @Willowview I agree the thread is super useful!

"Well done indeed on weight loss AND enjoying your summer @oddwellingtonboots WIN WIN!!!" totally seconded. When you can live your life for a bit without worrying about your diet too much and come back to a loss you've clearly been creating healthier habits and are in a great place to lose weight a little faster if you want to.

@Bumblebeebum23 thinking of you, I hope you got some shakes and they're helping. I know they have pre mixed drinks in many supermarkets but if you can't get in yourself or send someone for you order some off amazon even if its more expensive.

Bumblebeebum23 · 11/09/2023 14:25

Aww, thank you so much for everybody's kind words and concern. I am still in lots and lots of pain but have managed to drink a shake and sleep today. I'm praying that the ENT sorts tomorrow because it is unbearable 😫

And on a more positive note, well done to everybody for you amazing progress 💪🥳. I know this sounds cheesy, but I am so proud of you all (and of me). Often, these threads tail off, but it has felt so supportive and validating, as well as giving me motivation and accountability. You are all amazing. Thank you x

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 11/09/2023 14:42

Thanks @Bumblebeebum23 I'm happy you've popped in, its good to hear you've managed a shake wishing you well for the ENT tomorrow, fingers crossed it'll all be good news and easy fixes.

I'm proud of us too! Well done everybody, especially if you're persevering when you aren't getting the results you'd like, it's actually way harder.

HippyChickMama · 12/09/2023 07:33

Good morning all, I hope you're all okay. I have weighed this morning and 2lbs off this week, 5 weeks since starting that's 12lb in total. Next week should see me into the next stone down and my clothes are starting to feel more comfortable. Well done on all your losses
