Will I ever do it I wonder? 41 this year and still a fat fucker. Every year I promise myself I will not be obese for another year. FFS how I lie to myself. Someone wire my fucking jaw shut please!

Hi op, losing weight isn't easy and changing the habits that got us heavier than we would like takes time and effort.

Have you thought about what strategy you would like to try?

I'm older than you, post menopausal and pounds stick to me like glue.

stopthejetwashingmadness · 11/06/2023 20:38

Me ducking too

stopthejetwashingmadness · 11/06/2023 20:39

Nothing fits.
I am wafting around in maxi dresses but look like a ship in full sail
So depressed by it
I am 45 this year and was slimmer 5 -6 years ago.
Just trying to sort out clothes and wondering whether to bin the old ones...

DressDilemma · 11/06/2023 20:41

Me too. I turned 45 this year and vowed to lose a stone by summer. I am actually now half a stone heavier. I can blame it on perimenopause but in reality it is all down to stress, no exercise and crap diet.

TheDuchessOfMN · 11/06/2023 20:44

If you start right now, you could easily lose a stone or even more over the summer, in time for august and September.

NotAdultingToday · 11/06/2023 20:45

I have found my people! This is me!

Every year im so miserable in the heat and say never again and every year its the same. Im so mad at myself! I thought i looked nice today new comfy really nice top, one picture put paid to that

I am on slimming world and slowly slowwwly losing it but annoyed i got to this place! Plus i cant afford to keep getting new clothes every year as i slowly get fatter.

I suppose i did have a baby last nov but i still hadnt lost the weight from number 1, 6 years ago 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

Is it winter yet?

InSpainTheRain · 11/06/2023 21:16

I'm still obese but much happier as I've lost 40 lbs since end October '22. This has made me much more active and happier. Even taken up hiking again. Still some way to go, still trying to learn new habits. But ozempic has massively helped me. I feel it makes my eating normal rather than out of control.

melissasummerfield · 11/06/2023 21:22

I have literally just said this to my dad almost word for word!

also just turned 40 and so fed up with myself.

I know exactly how to lose weight, when i calorie count and do light exercise it just falls off me. I just need to get a grip!

LunaNorth · 11/06/2023 21:23

I’m still a chunk, too. Last year’s denim shorts are a squeeze.

The annoying thing is, I’ve been eating healthily, I exercise three or four times a week, I’m never bloody still.

And yet here I am, chubby. It’s not fair.

I'm thinking this. Let's do it. Starting tomorrow!!!

hartof · 11/06/2023 21:25

My sister gets married in august and I was determined to lose weight. I've lost one dress size but I have plenty more to lose!! It's just so hard

Riverlee · 11/06/2023 21:25

I’ve got a wedding to go to in August and using it as my aim to loose weight. I’ve cut out alcohol (almost), reduced portion sizes, refused cakes (or had smaller pieces), and lost about 4lb in three months. Honestly don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

ShatParp · 11/06/2023 21:26

OP solidarity!!!! Every summer I say "next summer I am NOT going to be covering my fat body up and sweltering when I could be in a vest and shorts" and yet here I am, still fucking fat too, I totally sympathise!! Really though we should be saying fuck it, life's too short, but I haven't managed to feel all Zen about it yet 😂

That’s what I thought, 1/2 lb per week. It’s not happened. I could honestly cry.

BookLover7777 · 11/06/2023 21:28

Do something about it while you still can! I said the same thing at 41… and 42, 43, 44 etc etc... now I'm 51 and I'm STILL sodding saying it and I hate summer because I feel so flabby and uncomfortable in summer clothes. But now I'm menopausal and on HRT and it's even bloody harder. Don't be me, OP!

Backstreets · 11/06/2023 21:30

Keto is the only thing ever worked for me. Some of us the weight sticks on like a bloody bramble. It's not fair, but it is what it is.

Nepmarthiturn · 11/06/2023 21:30

Why does it matter if it is summer? I think attaching it to a season you are maybe putting an unhelpful pressure on yourself. Better to just decide to make the change because you want to and not have this sort of time pressure and then disappointment in yourself? Maybe focus on what you want to do that would make you feel healthier and then celebrate the changes as they come rather than attach it to a season? I might be being thick! But not sure why the season makes a difference?

Oscarpapa · 11/06/2023 21:34

Yup same boat. I feel absolutely awful. Need to lose about 6 stone and feel horrendous.

Guessing you're not overweight then!

Because you can't hide behind cardigans and layers in summer Sad

Lostinplaces · 11/06/2023 22:05

Come to me my fellow chubsters for a group hug and high 5! I’m sorry you’re all in the same boat but I’m happy I’m not the only one. I don’t feel so alone. @Nepmarthiturn imagine the chafing, sweating, having to expose doughy wobbly skin to the world or sweat to death under long sleeves and trousers to hide your embarrassment, the looks and sniggers from others as we blob along red faced and melting. That’s why the season matters. That’s why we wanted to get rid of the fat before summer came around again. Every day is day one at the moment. Need a gastric bloody band.

I hear u. I.gained three stone in less than 3 years. Peed off with myself. Had terrible tragedy, but all the same it is still disappointing.

Lovebeingamummy2 · 11/06/2023 22:08

Op your tittle made me laugh because it's actually how I feel I'll try so hard for a while and even do well but I always resort back to my old ways food is just my comfort 🤷‍♀️

Stillfatstillmiserable · 11/06/2023 22:18

I hear you! Another summer fat and suffering.... I work in a restaurant kitchen and have been on the verge of fainting due to heat on several occasions.
Every year I say never again, next year I'll be slimmer but just keep getting bigger🥵

Why does it matter more in summer? - because fat people have the equivalent of slim people walking around with a winter duvet strapped to them so no matter how you dress, you are still sweating your arse off...

Razberryberet · 11/06/2023 22:38

I've been thinking this too! I'm so mad at myself to still be like this for another summer! I was pregnant last summer so couldn't do much about it then and I thought breastfeeding will help me speed up my weight loss, yeah right I've been more of a pig than ever n now I'm a sweaty fat mess for another summer! Well done me!! 😩
