Will I ever do it I wonder? 41 this year and still a fat fucker. Every year I promise myself I will not be obese for another year. FFS how I lie to myself. Someone wire my fucking jaw shut please!

Every single year I lose weight for my holiday and then put it all back on. Currently in the loss phase of the perpetual cycle. It's so hard, I never lose enough and never carry on after the holiday.

When will I ever learn? Hmm

toomanyleggings · 11/06/2023 22:57

Yerse me as well. 8 weeks until
my holiday and I’m 7lb heavier than I was last year ffs. It’s been a fucking shit 12 months though that’s my excuse

DasAlteLeid · 11/06/2023 22:58

I’ve found it so hard to lose weight since entering my 40s 😞 plus if I just have a greedy pig day as a one-off now, I find I put on a good couple of lbs which then takes a week or more to shift 😩

happy to stay on this thread for accountability if anyone else is!! I just want to lose about 6/7 lbs to get to a weight that I feel comfortable with (still on the cusp of overweight according to BMI though!!).

Come to me my fellow chubsters for a group hug and high 5! I’m sorry you’re all in the same boat but I’m happy I’m not the only one. I don’t feel so alone. @Nepmarthiturn imagine the chafing, sweating, having to expose doughy wobbly skin to the world or sweat to death under long sleeves and trousers to hide your embarrassment, the looks and sniggers from others as we blob along red faced and melting. That’s why the season matters. That’s why we wanted to get rid of the fat before summer came around again. Every day is day one at the moment. Need a gastric bloody band.

High five op 🙌
Fancy checking in here with progress?

Oh I see. 😔 Sorry. I was thinking for a health perspective and don't really care what anybody thinks 😆 so would just wear cool and comfortable stuff not try to cover up in warm weather. That sounds horrible.

weirdthigh · 12/06/2023 08:14

This is me!!
I'm 36. Every single year I've said the same. Every year I'm heavier than the one before :(
Really need to get it sorted!
I'm a bridesmaid in 5 weeks which doesn't help.
:(

Betsybee88 · 12/06/2023 16:32

I had my youngest 4 years ago, gained 4st whilst pregnant and still have yet to shift it.
I will say for the first 3 years I wasn't bothered due to quiet severe depression but now I have to deal with the consequences, I just lack motivation. It doesn't help after a long period of self isolation I've discovered a love of socialising again which inevitably involves either food or alcohol.

CottonSock · 12/06/2023 16:48

@PatChaunceysFruitCake I am exactly the same. I need to stop going on holiday!

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 12/06/2023 17:03

Maybe we just need more regular holidays @CottonSock, then we'd always have a 'pre holiday diet' on the horizon Grin

caringcarer · 12/06/2023 18:46

I'm still very fat but on Ozempic I've managed to lose 15.8kg in 11 weeks. I've still got a long way to go but I don't feel hungry much anymore. The first 4 days after my injection, I've really no appetite. It slowly returns on day 6. Then the next day another jab. I've never done this well on a diet before.

Lostinplaces · 12/06/2023 20:53

@caringcarer I’ve been contemplating Ozempic the past couple of weeks! Fantastic that it’s working for you, may you continue to shed those lbs by the day.

Solidarity to you all, I’m sat here slowly melting. Red faced and miserable. Ate a massive dinner 😞😞 absolutely no need for it at all. Blobbing into tomorrow with determination to eat mainly salad and drink mainly water. On a plus side I always manage 10k steps a day thanks to my job so that’s a win. May the weight loss gods shine down on you all and let you sweat off a few lbs at least.

Checking in. Hot, sweaty, gross mess with no nice clothes to wear. I feel like it's very unfair as I have been walking about 17000 steps a day since late last year, gym a couple of times a week and swimming some weeks too. It doesn't seem to have made any difference, although I do quite enjoy it.

Lostinplaces · 12/06/2023 21:24

@ColouringPencils how frustrating! Well
done for keeping it going though. It will be doing your body good even if the weight is being stubborn.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 12/06/2023 21:39

Me too! Every single year it’s the same. I’m 49 this year and menopausal which doesn’t help.

I consider it an achievement that I am no heavier than last year, that is really bloody sad!

I’ve always had weight issues but am heavier than I have ever been and cannot seem to shift anything. I know the problem, work stress, terrible eating habits, no break, addiction to sugar and snack foods.

Doesn’t help that I know too many people whose weight yoyo’s and I don’t want to be like that, I’ve done that too often before.

I’d love to know what has worked for other people.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 12/06/2023 21:41

I literally ate nothing from my breakfast of toast until I came home from work and had a few spoons of a curry DH made but really couldn’t face it as still had work crap to deal with. Since then though I’ve eaten some starburst and Pringle’s. That is my life too many days😢 It’s no wonder I feel shit!

NorthWestThree · 12/06/2023 21:42

Ha, same, once again I forgot to lose two stone for summer 😂

Makegoodchoices · 12/06/2023 21:53

I am currently refusing to believe that we’re halfway through June already. Because I can’t have done it again!

I’m prepared for the thigh chafing this time and I have the bigger clothes from last year.

But I’m so annoyed with myself! Especially as I’m going on hols with a skinny friend and her husband.

I hear people talking about ozempic - but my problem is nothing to do with hunger so I don’t think it would work for me.

continentallentil · 12/06/2023 21:59

I do know broadly how you feel, being very fat myself.

But.. could you start by being a bit nicer to yourself? - if only because it’s 10 times harder to do anything from a place of massive self criticism, and weight loss is hard enough.

Eating too much is usually either a coping strategy or an expression of pain. It’s not like you’re doing it for fun.

toomanyleggings · 12/06/2023 21:59

I can testify that ozempic doesn’t work. I tried it for four months. It just gave me diarrhoea and sulphur burps

Lostinplaces · 12/06/2023 23:06

@continentallentil I am kind to myself I promise. Talking shit in a humorous way is a coping mechanism for me, helps to deal.

@toomanyleggings sorry to here it didn’t work for you, having the squirts + yucky burps is a crap way to live!

LibbySarjeant · 12/06/2023 23:54

@Lostinplaces yep, same here - I was never one for the heat but now I'm roughly the size and shape of Humpty Dumpty, I loathe it! I have around 50lb to lose, and that's to take me to the top end of my healthy weight range Confused

@LunaNorth I'm very active too, working my way through C25K at the moment, walk at least 10K per day, usually take the DC out for a game of cricket/ football at the weekend... and still the pounds love me and refuse to budge. Pah.

TheTempest · 13/06/2023 00:02

That’s exactly how I feel too. Sweating my fat arse off and none of my summer clothes fit. On the plus side, I had a gastric sleeve a week ago, so this time next year I’ll be slim(mer!) and wafting along graciously in the heat 😂

LibbySarjeant · 13/06/2023 23:48

Oh blimey @TheTempest, I hope the gastric sleeve is worth it and makes life easier for you!

Honestly I feel that I could be doing so much better, but I have so little time to plan and cook, I have no idea how people do it Sad

SquirrelSoShiny · 13/06/2023 23:52

I have found my people! ✋️

WhenDoISleep · 13/06/2023 23:57

Fist bump in solidarity to everyone on the thread.
