2.5lb a week (on average)

HawdMeBack · 29/05/2023 07:33

I weighted myself this morning and I'm 14st 5lbs. That's a gain of 12lbs in the past 10 weeks - I'm disgusted with myself!!

I've been struggling to lose weight since DC2 was born 14 months ago. Nowhere near enough sleep, too exhausted to exercise and bingeing on crap at night when the kids are in bed.

We're going on our first family holiday abroad at the end of September and I want to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (11st) for then.

I have 18 weeks to lose 47lbs, that's 2.5lbs a week. I've fired up my fitbit and intend on doing the following:

10,000 steps a day
1200 calories a day
Log everything in MyFitnessPal
Drink 2 litres of water a day

I've lost around a stone twice already this year doing faddy diets but they aren't sustainable long term and I've put the weight back on (plus some) when I've stopped, so I want to do more of a lifestyle change than a crash diet this time.

Anyone want to join me for accountability? I plan on weighing myself every Monday morning and will share my results here (even if no-one else joins, it'll hopefully keep me on track).

We'd a BBQ today. I'm not sure I've over eaten but I've definitely not made the best choices.

Currently fighting off the craving to have some ice-cream and chocolate.....

I think I might just go to sleep 😴

I'll weigh tomorrow and hope for a loss!

WEIGH DAY

Morning All!

Great that we're all keeping each other updated, it really does help with accountability and motivation.

@Todaypicard your meals sound ultra healthy and nourishing.

@Fuckedthen I didn't have a great day yesterday either. DS1 has had a D&V bug since Saturday night so I was pinned to the couch yesterday whilst he slept on me. I only managed 5,894 steps. I also had an oven pizza for tea as I was starving and tired. All in all, I had just over 2000 calories. Not crazy but not ideal.

Weighed myself this morning and I'm down 3.6lbs.

Monday 29th May - 14st 5lbs
Monday 5th June - 14st 1.4lbs

I'm really happy with that considering I've been eating real food and not surviving on shakes and bars. Aiming for 2lb next week to get me into the 13's.

How did everyone else get on???

I’ve lost 0.9kg (2lb)

starting weight was 78.4kg
current weight 77.5kg

i know I’m sounding ungrateful, but really thought if maybe lose a bit more the first week. BUT it’s all about slow and steady and sustainable changes isn’t it. 8-10lb a month loss is still a loss!

im planning the same approach for this week, but trying to increase driving levels if I can. A hike on Tuesday with husband whilst daughter is at school, 2 working days on my feet, and then trying to fill the rest of the week with going out with daughter.

well done everyone with the effort so far! Keep going!

Welcome!! Do you have a goal weight in mind?

No specific weight goal in mind just want to feel comfy in my clothes again & get my energy levels back turned in to a sofa sloth

Todaypicard · 05/06/2023 19:12

Hello, and welcome Cazs818!

a positive day here I think.

a working day so I had breakfast - strawberries, a banana and about 5 grapes, with one large spoon Greek yoghurt and a sprinkle of homemade muesli.

lunch was a small portion of spicy lentil and brown rice dish with lots of fresh tomatoes, beetroot, green beans and kale. Followed by approx 6 cashew nuts and an apple.

dinner (which I’m just making) is 2 boiled eggs from our own hens, one slice of rye bread, and a side bowl of broad bean, sweetcorn, and cooked spinach.

despite beint almost vegan the last 3 years I am considering a small amount of organic chicken… thinking an order from “the ethical butcher” or “pipers farm” to improve my protein?

Frankcat19 · 05/06/2023 19:27

I am joining in too if that is ok.
Weighed this morning and 12stone exactly.
I would like to lose 2 stone before the end of October.
Main aims, no snacking at work!
Calories between 1200 and 1600 each day
Running/ cardio 3 times a week
Weights/strength 3 times a week
Steps 12000 a day.

Today I had a banana and peanut butter smoothie for breakfast
Lunch was a hallumi, spinach and orange salad with wholemeal flatbread.
Dinner chicken and roasted vegetables.
Snack two oat cakes and a handful of grapes.

15 minute weight workout.
Steps currently 11654 so should make 12000 today.

Tomorrow I need to drink more water!

Fuckedthen · 05/06/2023 20:58

Evening!

Weighed in this morning at 10st 9lbs so a 1lb loss from last week. I'll take it. Would much prefer if it was 2lbs+ but it is what it is.

I had porridge, banana and biscoff this morning. I find that oats really fill me up, until they don't 😕 wasn't well planned enough - ended up grazing on an antipasti platter, eating DCs left over hm pizza then wired into my own hm pizza. I made the spicy beef topping so don't think it was too calorific but this guessing and gliding with no real accountability will have to stop if I want a consistent loss! Steps didn't meet goal today either - I'll just keep plodding.

Tomorrow is a new day.

Hubblebubble · 05/06/2023 22:45

Today was a swim followed by overnight oats (white chocolate protein yoghurt, oats and a handful of seeds) and an americano with skim milk. Then a weight training session followed by a chicken wrap, carrots and hummous and an iced coffee. Dinner was a pub burger with fries and a lemonade. All still within a calorie deficit according to myfitnesspal. And I've lost one pound this week.

Hubblebubble · 05/06/2023 22:52

2.5 a week seems a bug beyond me to be honest. I've got much better at not snacking, but if I don't have 3 square meals I'm just grumpy

HawdMeBack · 05/06/2023 23:20

Everyone has lost this week 👏 great start! How did you get on @giantwaterbottle?

DS still isn't well so today was much the same as yesterday in terms of steps (currently 5,560). Foodwise, I had:

Trusty Shredded wheat
3 x chicken satay skewers
2 x babybels
Venison grillsteak & 6 x halloumi fries
Salt and vinegar snack-a-jacks
An orange

Totally calories consumed = 1357

Hoping to get a bit more sleep tonight and get a few more steps in tomorrow. Caught a glimpse of myself on the baby monitor earlier and was not happy! Either the camera really does add 10 (20) pounds or I really need to get my arse moving!!

Could have wrote your post ! Baby is nearly 14 months , didn't put a massive amount of weight on during pregnancy but about a stone after he was born..
we're going to Spain end of September and am on the same mission as you, started four weeks ago though and have lost 7lb so far. Calorie counting and low carb.
Just getting the energy to start exercising the last few days but the scales seem to be stuck!

What a coincidence! Half a stone in 4 weeks is great 👌

We can do this! I keep picturing myself walking around in the sun wearing something really nice and that helps motivate me. The last thing I want is to be on holiday and feel self-conscious or uncomfortable in my clothes. I want some nice family photos of our first family holiday abroad, ones that I look back on and smile at. Not ones I'm embarrassed about.

Another good day here, I’m feeling pleased with myself.

no breakfast

lunch - 2 slices of rye bread (a sandwich 😂), with cheese, beetroot, humous and spinach. Carrot sticks, and celery sticks on the side. Than an apple.

dinner - lemon chickpea stew with kale and broccoli.

I think I will have some yogurt and a cup of tea now.

walked almost 17000 steps!

welcome new people! How are you all getting on?

I’ve been reading on the other threads about UPF - now we generally don’t eat processed food, but I’m struggling to get rid of the last few like humous, and bread. But think I’ll buy a Breadmaker as we don’t have any bakeries near us.

Fuckedthen · 07/06/2023 19:31

Decent day here. Under calories and reasonable steps. Still making the good choices.

I LOVE Starbucks iced coffee. It's on deal at Sainsbury's right now and I could easily go thru a carton a day. Not good for breastfeeding and even worse for my pocket even when on deal!

I'm going to figure out how to make it on my own so that I can decaff and save some money. Wish me luck!

Todaypicard · 07/06/2023 22:12

Today started well! At work so breakfast was a 2 egg omelette with sweetcorn and feta in.

lunch was a small portion of spicy lentils and rice, fresh tomatoes, kale and green beans. An apple.

then I had to stay late at work due to an emergency and didn’t leave until 9pm so had a work sandwich to keep me going, a small slice of quiche and a small cake!!

only 6000 steps which doesn’t seem right! I’ve been on my feet all day

HawdMeBack · 07/06/2023 23:07

Just over 6,500 steps today and stayed within calorie allowance. AF made an appearance yesterday so feeling a bit blah today. Going to wash the windows tomorrow so that'll be my exercise for the day.

Hello hope you’re all feeling good!
todays meals - so so!

no breakfast
lunch was a white miso chilli ramen - small amount (half an adult portion) of wholewheat noodles, home pickled carrots end radishes, broad beans and peas, smoked tofu, and a lovely spicy almond milk sauce.

dinner just now was 2 slices (should have had one…) of spelt bread, with boursin, pickled beetroot, celery and carrot sticks. Then a small bowl of strawberries blueberries and one spoon of plain yoghurt.

Fuckedthen · 08/06/2023 20:43

@Todaypicard you're doing well.

I did a wee exercise class today. Some work with resistance bands, core and cardio. Felt good to move the body. My eight month old was with me so some stopping and starting but feeling good to have gone. Also, walked for an hour with a friend.

Food:
Porridge with SS milk, banana & biscoff
Chicken Satay sticks & caramel macchiato
Lasagne, sweetcorn & small handful frozen chips

Wanting something else so I'm in my bed 🤣 Fighting the good fight - we'll see which wins!

Fuckedthen · 08/06/2023 21:45

Ice cream and a flake won! First I've had something out with plan for a while. I'm enjoying it. Back to it tomorrow.

Todaypicard · 08/06/2023 21:46

Ah that’s lovely you could take your baby with you! What a good idea!

HawdMeBack · 09/06/2023 09:23

Well done that’s great work Hawdmeback!
I’ve got chicken and vegetable soup in the pressure cooker for my first meal of the day but I couldn’t wait and so just had a slice of pumpernickel bread with chilli and corriander sardines! I’ll have the soup later instead!

Fuckedthen · 09/06/2023 14:33

Learned something. Keep off the sweet stuff. It's like it activates a switch 😞

Daim bar, 400ml caramel macchiato, McD cheeseburger and a regular caramel frappe down already today! Jeezo.

Need to get that willpower back.
