2.5lb a week (on average)

I weighted myself this morning and I'm 14st 5lbs. That's a gain of 12lbs in the past 10 weeks - I'm disgusted with myself!!

I've been struggling to lose weight since DC2 was born 14 months ago. Nowhere near enough sleep, too exhausted to exercise and bingeing on crap at night when the kids are in bed.

We're going on our first family holiday abroad at the end of September and I want to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (11st) for then.

I have 18 weeks to lose 47lbs, that's 2.5lbs a week. I've fired up my fitbit and intend on doing the following:

10,000 steps a day
1200 calories a day
Log everything in MyFitnessPal
Drink 2 litres of water a day

I've lost around a stone twice already this year doing faddy diets but they aren't sustainable long term and I've put the weight back on (plus some) when I've stopped, so I want to do more of a lifestyle change than a crash diet this time.

Anyone want to join me for accountability? I plan on weighing myself every Monday morning and will share my results here (even if no-one else joins, it'll hopefully keep me on track).

Well, weigh in and I’m still 74kg!
I have to eat less this week!!

HawdMeBack · 10/07/2023 07:20

SW: 14st 5lbs
CW: 13st 8lbs
GW: 11st 0lbs

That's a loss of 2lbs this week. I'm happy with that at this stage!

6 weeks in and 11lbs down.

We're bound to have weeks where our weight sticks @Todaypicard I've had 2 so far where I've maintained but I've always lost the following week.

I’m not too disheartened- I think for many it would be easy to give up at this stage, but I won’t. I’ve lost over 4kg in 6 weeks and I’m still motivated as I want to be healthy and well for my DD. I’m going to make sure I don’t eat any sugar this week, as last week I did have that ice cream, and a croissant etc. and I’ll go for a big walk on my day off tomorrow.
I’ve totally adapted to lack of breakfast now - trying to eat it this morning on my work day was difficult! I only managed some raspberries and kefir yoghurt but felt quite sick. It’s tricky though because my lunch break isn’t until 1.45am which is so far away if I don’t have any. I’m not sure what would be best.

HawdMeBack · 10/07/2023 19:03

I personally wouldn't force myself to eat if I wasn't hungry. Is it possible to have a snack at work if you get hungry before your lunch break?

Today I've had:

Shredded wheat
A protein bar
A peach
Beans on toast
Snack-a-jacks

I'd like to day I'm done but I'll more than likely have something else before bed, a pear maybe?!

I wore a p a ir of jeans today that I haven't had on in a while. They weren't hanging off me by any means, but they were definitely more comfortable than I remember! I can't see the loss yet but I'm starting to feel it which is encouraging.

Thank you for your advice - it’s good to hear.
tricky really as I’m not sure what would travel well that isn’t proceed. perhaps something simple like an apple/banana/satsuma. I’ll try that and see. Alternatively I have made homemade cereal bars in the past but they tend to be sugar filled.

meals today
breakfast was berries and kefir with a sprinkle of museli
lunch was leftover filo pie (stuffed with spicy leeks and kale), carrots, broccoli, baby corn. More berries for afterwards.
dinner was an omelette with kale and broccoli. No cheese as we ran out - I definitely missed it!! Followed by an apple

Hubblebubble · 10/07/2023 21:45

I'm dreading stepping back on the scales after this holiday. I'm pretty sure I've undone 5 months in 2 weeks. I mean, one of the local delicacies is deep fried pickles.

Todaypicard · 11/07/2023 20:22

An unexpected meal out today! Lovely but limited food choices.

meals:
piece of rye toast with peanut butter at 11am.
then lunch at 1pm - I chose spicy black bean jambalaya with roasted okra. And a few chips!!
dinner - one slice toast, humous and and apple.

Todaypicard · 11/07/2023 20:22

Oh and celery and carrot sticks with dinner

Todaypicard · 12/07/2023 20:46

Posting my meals!
how are you all doing?

breakfast was a little homemade muesli and coconut kefir
lunch was the last bit of filo pie, kale and broccoli. Then raspberries and an apple
dinner was a plain 2 egg omelette

Fuckedthen · 12/07/2023 21:32

MIA (again)

Weighed in today - no change. 10st 6lbs.

Started again today so had a sausage sandwich for brunch, double cheeseburger with corn cobettes and onion rings, 4 cups of tea.

Have fought the good fight against the chocolate and cakes that have featured heavily for the past 10 or so days..... We march onwards! Just over 2 weeks to lose that 6lbs.

Ilovedavidmitchell · 13/07/2023 10:06

I weighed myself on Monday and had lost another pound so currently 4lbs down. But since then I've had really bad PMS cravings and not been as strict as I have been so I'm kind of dressing getting on the scales. I don't want to see the number go up.

I've got a good shop being delivered tomorrow and my cravings have died down now so I'm going to wait until probably the end of next week to weigh myself

I could do with some more inspo for evening meals though? I am struggling to think of low calorie evening meals the most

Ilovedavidmitchell · 13/07/2023 10:27

Dreading* not dressing

Quitelikeit · 13/07/2023 10:37

Hello 👋

I have been away to a sporting event so not posted!

I was doing up to 22,000 steps a day
but I drank a lot 🫣 but didn’t overdo it on food

i returned back

11st 11lbs!

god I feel stuck but I’ll keep on

I need to trust in the process of less calories in then eventually it’ll work

Today I had a full pack of salted beef from Aldi and some mangchego cheese and pimento stuffed olives from Sainsburys- far too scared to look at the calories in that though

I think I need to look into weight training

Todaypicard · 13/07/2023 15:04

i don’t know the calories, but my meal plan for the week (we shopped today) in case it gives you some inspiration is as follows:

  • butternut squash lasagne
  • dahl
  • roasted veg with feta and seeds
  • puy lentil gratin
  • tofu, coconut rice, and green veg
  • sweet potato, carrot, and lentil curry
  • and there should be leftovers for the last day! If not then it will be omelette and veg
Todaypicard · 13/07/2023 18:31

My meals today:
no breakfast
lunch - lentil soup, sourdough, celery/carrot sticks and homous. One biscuit that my daughter made! Her little face meant I couldn’t really say no.
dinner- squash lasagne, kale, green beans. Then strawberries and stewed rhubarb with coconut kefir.

Fuckedthen · 13/07/2023 20:46

The scales are teetering..... I saw a 10st 5lbs before it settled on 10st 6lbs this morning. Don't ask me why I'm weighing again but I am.

@Ilovedavidmitchell PMS is shit. You'll not have put lbs on, you just won't but weigh when you're comparable and keep up the non craving related choices.

@Quitelikeit that's some amount of steps. I need to get back out again. Organisation and less than favourable weather hasn't helped! Interested in strength training myself but no idea what to do in the gym.

@Todaypicard some good ideas there, you're laser focused. Admirable!

Today: chicken sausage sandwich, nandos pasta, garlic bread with cheese, little cadburys bar, 4 teas and 2 small brownie squares.

HawdMeBack · 13/07/2023 21:00

Hi All,

I can't provide any meal inspo unfortunately as I eat the same, box/packet stuff on repeat.

Today -

Fruit and Fibre
A peach
Peanut butter protein bar
Packet of wotsits
Cod fishcake with potato rosti (carb heavy)
Countless decaf coffees

My 6kg kettlebell arrived a couple of hours ago (feels about 20kg) so I'll be using that and following a YouTube video as of tomorrow.

Tried on a jumpsuit yesterday that I bought after DC1 was born but never had a chance to wear as it was slightly too tight. Thought I'd maybe get a wear out of it now but no, still too tight 😒 that was really disheartening!

Right everyone, it’s finally happened! I’ll fallen off the wagon! Please give me support and not make me feel worse than I already do…

I woke up hungry so had 2 small slices of sourdough with cheese and an apple

i then had a lab almond croissant and an orange at lunch time at a friends

i then came home and had for dinner a huge portion of dahl and rice (and seconds with the end of the sour dough to dip in it), and a biscuit that my daughter made yesterday.

and I’m still hungry… I KNOW it’s because of all the carbs and sugar I’ve eaten. I just feel so disappointed in myself, it’s not even 6pm and I’m still hungry. I’m considering a bowl of steamed veg? Or a bowl of fruit and kefir? And lots of cups of rooibos teas and water!

HawdMeBack · 14/07/2023 18:58

You're idea of falling off the wagon is VERY different to mine @Todaypicard none of what you've had is bad! Unless that portion of Dahl was enough to feed a family of 5, I'd say you're all good. We all have days where we're hungrier than others, and as long as we're eating more of the right stuff (which you are), there's no need to feel bad about it.

I've had -

Fruit and fibre
Snack a jacks
Nature valley honey and oats bar
Macaroni cheese

I really fancy some chocolate but all that's in the house is a milkyway and a Kinder bar (treats for the DC). If it were dairy milk or galaxy I'd have scoffed them, guilt free, but luckily for them I'm not a fan of either.

Intended to start my kettlebell routine today but.... I didn't, and won't now. I'm shattered! Will start tomorrow... famous last words 🫣

OP posts:
Todaypicard · 14/07/2023 19:41

Ah thank you, very kind! No it wouldn’t feed 5 - perhaps 2-3 😅

Hubblebubble · 14/07/2023 19:58

Back from holiday, so back to eating sensibly. Today has been an airplane breakfast of croissant, yoghurt and coffee. Slept through lunch time because of jet lag. A cup of tea and one slice of quiche lorraine for dinner.

Ilovedavidmitchell · 14/07/2023 20:16

@Todaypicard I also wouldn't consider that falling off the wagon, it still sounds good to me! Don't beat yourself up... I think the key is to just MOST of the time be eating well, but if you feel like you really need or want something then just have it! Don't deprive yourself. I felt shit the other day because I hadn't eaten any chocolate at all for 2 weeks but then it was a bad PMS day two days before my period, plus my cat was in the vets and I ate some chocolate buttons. I felt so guilty but it really satisfied me at the time and I haven't had any since. I think I needed it to keep going, otherwise I'd have just been miserable and more likely to fail overall.

I think you're going amazingly well!

Todaypicard · 14/07/2023 20:19

Thank you so much! Your message means a lot. I’m tucked up in bed with a hot drink and a bowl of strawberries!

Quitelikeit · 15/07/2023 10:47

Still 11st 12lbs 😩

I need to start the weight training. Must must must!!

Todaypicard · 15/07/2023 17:10

Two meals today and I think I’m done.

brunch of dahl, rice, kale, broccoli
“tea time” meal of squash lasagna, more kale, green beans. Followed by an apple.

I certainly could eat more … but if I feel I need something I’ll go for an omelette or 2 boiled eggs and some fruit. Anyone else find weekend eating more challenging?
