2.5lb a week (on average)

HawdMeBack · 29/05/2023 07:33

I weighted myself this morning and I'm 14st 5lbs. That's a gain of 12lbs in the past 10 weeks - I'm disgusted with myself!!

I've been struggling to lose weight since DC2 was born 14 months ago. Nowhere near enough sleep, too exhausted to exercise and bingeing on crap at night when the kids are in bed.

We're going on our first family holiday abroad at the end of September and I want to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (11st) for then.

I have 18 weeks to lose 47lbs, that's 2.5lbs a week. I've fired up my fitbit and intend on doing the following:

10,000 steps a day
1200 calories a day
Log everything in MyFitnessPal
Drink 2 litres of water a day

I've lost around a stone twice already this year doing faddy diets but they aren't sustainable long term and I've put the weight back on (plus some) when I've stopped, so I want to do more of a lifestyle change than a crash diet this time.

Anyone want to join me for accountability? I plan on weighing myself every Monday morning and will share my results here (even if no-one else joins, it'll hopefully keep me on track).

Fuckedthen welcome back - that’s a great loss - 6LB in July is absolutely doable!

HawdMeBack · 04/07/2023 10:21

Morning all,

Weighed myself again this morning out of interest and, apparently, I've lost 3.2lbs overnight 🤣 I knew weight fluctuated daily but not by such huge amounts! Not logging it though, as far as I'm concerned, I'm 13st 10lb until next Monday.

LazyLeopard · 04/07/2023 10:21

Hi, sorry for the quiet few days - you're all doing so well to keep going, even with wobbles and stuff thrown in the way.

@Fuckedthen you've done so well, and I reckon you can do the 6lbs! I'll join you with that aim.

I lost 2lbs in June 🙄I keep losing 2 a week, then putting it back on again. But I am on 3 week periods, so I guess I can see why? I cut back on drinking in the week, and it made a difference, but guess which dickhead made up for it at the weekend? Next stop, cutting right back on weekends too.

Yesterday:

B: Danish toast and a bit of peanut butter
L: WW Chilli (never again, bought for the low calories) | few squares of dark chocolate
D: Aubergine, chilli, tomato pasta with a bit of cheese | strawberry protein mousse

Today:
B: None
L: Aubergine pasta left from last night
D: 3% Aldi burgers, home made wedges, and green beans.

HawdMeBack · 04/07/2023 10:26

If you can switch to clear spirits and have them with soda or tonic @LazyLeopard then you can still drink. Cocktails, wine and beers are full of empty calories.

2lbs is 2lbs, your going in the right direction!

Just thinking, my new bathroom flooring was laid yesterday, that might have made a difference to the scales.

OP posts:
LazyLeopard · 04/07/2023 11:03

@HawdMeBack Yes - I need to get back to gin and tonics, I sadly got into the habit of wine as it's quicker and easier to pour (I'm very picky about how my gins are made!) after a stressful day. This exercise is probably deeper than weight loss, because I reckon even though I was probably doubling my calories, it was also impacting what I fancied eating, if that makes sense?

The floor deffo impacted the scales. x

HawdMeBack · 04/07/2023 11:45

@LazyLeopard haha, I know exactly what you mean. Good food choices are never made after a couple of drinks! I don't drink, well, maybe the occasional beer once in a blue moon, so I can't even blame that as a contributing factor x

An okay day today:

meals as follows
no breakfast
lunch was one small/mini whole meal wrap with tofu/peppers/red onion with a fajita type seasoning. Some broccoli, an apple.
dinner was a 2 egg omelette with cheese, peas & broad beans & green beans. I also then had 4 mini pea and butter bean fritters as a test - they were okay but I wouldn’t make again! Then a pear.

Quitelikeit · 04/07/2023 22:07

11st 10lbs today woohoo

lunch was a salad from the bakers I dread to think about the calories chicken/bacon w mayonnaise plus coleslaw

then a tin on mackerel fillet in Tom sauce

skinny bagel with ham

7 pints of water

well done to all those keeping on and a pound a week is like 52lb a year so is quite amazing!

HawdMeBack · 04/07/2023 22:19

Today I had -

Shredded wheat
A banana
Beans on toast
Salt and vinegar snack-a-jacks
Countless (decaf) coffees

Not very inspiring but tasty and within calorie allowance. Didn't get many steps in today as it's been pouring of rain here so been home all day.

Evening!

The weather has been drastically different here today, lots of sunshine and much less wind 👍

Today's consumption was as follows:

Fruit n Fibre
Banana
Protein bar
Babybel
Char Su Pork with sticky rice

Still sadly lacking in fruit and veg but a bit more balanced than yesterday. Hope everyone's had a good day, that's us half way through our 5th week now!

Hello! I weighed myself again this morning. Couldn't help it. Lost a bit more 😄

SW: 11st 2
CW: 10st 13
GW: 9st 7

That's a 3lb loss in a week so maybe I'm not actually eating enough

Todaypicard · 06/07/2023 12:00

Hello sorry I forgot to update meals last night.

no breakfast

lunch was roasted vegetables (butternut squash, peppers, red onion, courgettes) in chilli oil, and steamed green beans, followed by a fruit salad (kiwi, apple, pear).

dinner was a total surprise! A dine in for 2 from my husband - tomato risotto and leeks/peas, followed by apple crumble and custard! And a fizzy soft drink. Delicious!

today I’ve just made for my first meal, a swede laska with rice noodles, caramelised shallots, baby sweetcorn, and kale.

HawdMeBack · 06/07/2023 17:40

1 slice of toast with cream cheese
Shredded wheat
Banana
A packet of quavers
(Just about to have)
Venison grillsteak with a handful of oven chips and roasted vine tomatoes

After that, I'm going for a long soak in the bath and early night, I'm shattered! Period is due any day, and my appetite has been ferocious, so best to get to bed before I open the kids' treat box and demolish the lot!

I'm back!

Thanks so much for the support guys it really helped my mindset. It took me a few days to get back into it but I think I'm on top again.

Breakfast- 2 English muffins with small amount of butter
Lunch - bacon sandwich with mayo/sliced tomatoes and hot sauce
Dinner - chicken wrap with a whole bell pepper and onion to bulk it out.

All within calories and have started a fast at 17:30 so will be having a late breakfast tomorrow.

@HawdMeBack I hear you! Also about to get my period and over the last 5 days or so I have been ravenous! It was too hard for me so I had some sweet stuff and ate way more than I should but the main thing I'm taking away is I've gone back to moderate which I never would have in the past!

Well done everyone you are all doing so, so well!

Todaypicard · 06/07/2023 21:36

So after my laska for lunch, I haven’t really fancied much dinner so I’ve just had some strawberries and banana with some coconut kefir and a little muesli.

my appetite has definitely reduced!

Todaypicard · 07/07/2023 18:33

Hello everyone! How’s it been today?

my meals: not brilliant!!

no breakfast
lunch at family members - potato and leek soup, with one slice of my own bread that I took with me.
an ice cream with a friend - I should have had one scoop but I couldn’t choose so had two. That was the wrong choice I know.
dinner - it’s so hot so I had cheese, humous oatcakes, celery, peppers and raspberries

Todaypicard · 07/07/2023 18:35

Oh does anyone take supplements? Especially those who are eating not many fruit/veg/limited diets?

I’ve just started taking calcium as I’ve read recently breastfeeding women need 1250mg per day. Non-breastfeeding women need 1000mg. And I’ve only been eating in my food <500mg per day. Really not sure how I missed this vital information! So now I’m worried about osteoporosis! I also take omega 3 and a multivitamin.

Hubblebubble · 07/07/2023 20:29

I take vitamin D all year round, and I do weight lifting to protect my future bone health.

Jeezo. Come on to say I'm not doing well and get hit with this too 🙈

I take no supplements. I have breastfeeding ones here but I forget to take them more often than I remember!

I'm going to set an alarm and start tonight.

Yeah, so sleep is terrible, baby is a cling on and I feel like shit majority of the time. Really not conducive to a motivated calorie deficit diet. Bring on the chocolate and the bad choices.

Giving myself a pep talk tonight and hopefully we'll be back on the wagon tomorrow.

July: week 1 - total write off 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ilovedavidmitchell · 07/07/2023 22:08

Not been a great day for me today either. I have got very sorry boobs though so I guess I am due on which might be contributing.

But tomorrow is a new day!

Ilovedavidmitchell · 07/07/2023 22:09

*sore boobs lol

Fuckedthen · 08/07/2023 09:53

@Ilovedavidmitchell agreed!

Started today well. Porridge with milk, banana & tsp biscoff spread. Should keep me full for a while.

Todaypicard · 08/07/2023 19:30

Well done everyone keep going!

oo biscoff spread - I’ve never tried it but heard lovely things !

meals today:
no breakfast
lunch was sweet potatoe and lentil curry, with kale and broccoli, followed by stewed rhubarb that I picked yesterday, raspberries and natural yoghurt.
dinner that I’ve just eaten was leek and chard martabak (filo pie) from the East cookbook, with broad beans, green beans and spinach. It apparently makes 8 portions but I’m sure that’s not correct - I think more like 4-6. I will have a green apple to follow!

HawdMeBack · 09/07/2023 17:28

Hi All, sorry I've been AWOL, been a busy weekend.

Still sticking mostly to plan, with the occasional treat (had more than a few chocolate raisins last night).

Going to buy myself a set of kettlebells this week and start getting a bit more exercise in when I can.

Weigh day tomorrow 💪and that marks 6 weeks done ✔️

Todaypicard · 09/07/2023 19:17

Gosh is it really 6 weeks!! Thanks to everyone for coming together on the journey. Honestly it’s been so much easier knowing you’re all there!

meals today:
no breakfast
lunch was sweet potato and lentil curry, with broccoli and carrots and baby sweetcorn. Followed by stewed rhubarb and raspberries with coconut kefir.
dinner was oatcakes, cheese, humous, green apple, celery and carrot sticks.

and I’m just eyeing the last croissant with a cup of tea!!

I do feel my losses have slowed… I need to try and reduce portion sizes slightly more next week
