Hi all. Just spotted the previous thread filled up so thought I’d start a new one quickly.

I've looked into this drug for an obese family member. My feeling is that it is potentially very dangerous long-term, damaging to various internal organs and that the risks are much greater than suggested.

But I can see that if it is helping people to lose weight quickly, it must feel like a miracle solution. If I was in that position I can imagine I would not be receptive to warnings either

Your feelings aren't scientific - sorry.
I don't think the NHS would be involved in a big cover up - the drug has some counter indications and isn't suitable for everyone but no one is hiding that information.

HolidayHappy123 · 01/05/2023 15:57

Thanks @Twiglets1. First injection is done and was fine.

SarahC50 · 01/05/2023 16:01

@AutisticLegoLover people have their own reasons and use their own decision making processes to weigh up the drug and whether it is suitable for them. You seem to take personal offense to this and enjoy lengthy hectoring posts to people who aren't researching it properly in your eyes or to your standards.

I am not policing the thread but question the relevance of the post as this is a thread for people presumably already taking the drug

This is a thread for people on the drug we are paying £200 a month for the drug so don't need scare stories from the daily mail about ozempic face and weight regain, we already have read about this in our research

mumwheresmyribena · 01/05/2023 16:06

Excellent @HolidayHappy123 Hoping only the best results for you. I'm in a similar boat in that my GP suggested I looked at it (though couldn't prescribe it) and is supporting me with regular checks. 11 weeks in, I'm well in my way. It's slow but steady, every kg lost is hard fought but the benefits are tangiable and very obvious even though I'm still 32 BMI

AutisticLegoLover · 01/05/2023 16:09

I don't read the Daily Mail. I've contacted NovoNordisk directly and read their own research. If you want to pay out the money that's up to you but you don't get to police other posters pointing out potential issues. Some posters are very defensive and it is obvious why. Others are very measured and take on board what is being said and discuss rather than defend.
Good luck.

It was @Thedreamer28 who referred to Ozempic face not @AutisticLegoLover I think you got a bit confused there.

@AutisticLegoLover passive aggressive much?

HolidayHappy123 · 01/05/2023 16:18

Thanks @mumwheresmyribena. Do you mind me asking how much weight you’ve lost in 11 weeks. That’s when I go on holiday and it would be nice to be lighter for the hot weather.

SarahC50 · 01/05/2023 16:18

@Twiglets1 not confused it was my response to @Thedreamer28 that @AutisticLegoLover took displeasure with and commented on if you look back

9.5kg but I'm still taking 0.5mg and have had some personal challenges (not Ozempic related) in the last month. I probably could have lost a little more if I'd been a bit more diligent, but it's all good. I posted about it on to the "few months in" thread. Come in over, the signal to noise ratio is much better 🙂 www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4765359-ozempic-for-those-of-us-a-few-months-in

There is an email address in the “Contact us” section of their website (you have to scroll right to the bottom), so that might be worth a try.

Thanks, I've found it!

MissBridgetJones · 01/05/2023 18:04

Has anyone here tried Saxenda and Ozempic?

Saxenda gave me a banging headache. Considering giving Ozempic a try....

Sammysees · 01/05/2023 18:09

Quick question if anyone would mind answering? I took my first dose of 0.5 on Friday after 4 successful weeks on 0.25. No side effects bar some constipation. I’ve overhauled my diet and was doing really well. Today I have been so hungry for some reason. Has anyone else had this? I seem to have spent the whole day snacking. It was a bit of a shock after 4 weeks of never being hungry.

Jabiru · 01/05/2023 18:27

I’m in the same position, four weeks on 0.25, all good, started 0.5 on Thursday (with leftover from the 0.25 pen).

Ive felt quite a difference in terms of feeling very full, but I’ve also found it’s now hard to get any supplies of Ozempic at all, my original supplier is out of stock. I’ve consulted juniper instead but it’s pretty annoying having to chase stock isn’t it?

MuMuMuuuum · 01/05/2023 18:45

@Sammysees I'm only on week 12 so no expert but I've gone through spells of noticeable hunger returning and then it fades. Before I started I'd read a lot of Reddit threads and this is widely reported around the 5 week mark as your body starts to get used to the drug but hasn't yet built up enough in your system from higher doses. The therapeutic dose is 1mg (which I'm not up to yet). Everything below that is to build up tolerance without being dreadfully ill.

A few weeks ago (so maybe week 7 or 8) come dinner time I was HANGRY but after a few bites full. Just hang in there and try to choose health snack. Lots of protein.

Thank you! I hadn’t read that about the 5 week mark. I have been eating lots of chicken and veg today so will keep going. It was just so strange after 4 weeks of it working really well with no side effects. In fact it was working so well I did consider staying at 0.25. Thanks for your reply - it has put my mind at rest 😊

HolidayHappy123 · 01/05/2023 20:22

Wondering how quickly people find it works. I assumed it would be a couple of weeks at least. I’ve been grazing a bit today abut found I could only eat two-thirds of my admittedly big salad for dinner.

Everyone's different - I found I lost my appetite almost immediately, think it may have been partly psychological as it happened so fast but I don't know.
Other people find they don't lose their appetite for a few weeks.

Jabiru · 01/05/2023 20:57

A definite reduction in my appetite in the first week on 0.25 but the effects largely wore off by the end of the month. Just gone up to 0.5 and I’m full!

Click Pharmacy has it in stock

This supplier is £50 more than I’ve been paying. Does anyone have a discount code?

I’ve woken up starving and I don’t usually eat breakfast. My ADHD brain is wired slightly differently to most so it will be Sod’s Law that I gain weight rather than losing it. No nausea or other side effects to report yet.

Peridot1 · 02/05/2023 09:55

@HolidayHappy123 - I find I’m hungrier in the mornings now since starting Ozempic. But I find I eat less in the evening so it balances out. And eating less in the evening is probably why I wake up hungry!

Has anyone else had side effects kick in at week 4? No dose change, still on 0.25mg. Abdominal cramping, diarrhoea, and bloating have hit me like a brick wall in the last few days.

SarahC50 · 02/05/2023 15:13

I'm the same almost immediate loss of appetite after my first dose and only able to eat much smaller portions. Also like @Peridot1 I am hungrier in the mornings and at lunchtime with very little to no appetite in the evenings. It has been brilliant for me as evening mindless grazing was my problem. I now have an options to drink and I'm satisfied. I'm finding side effects aside the ozempic journey so far has been great for me x
