@Fortheloveofus it does help - I've tried to lose weight for years but only ever managed a pound or two, but it's much easier to properly diet and change the way you're eating if you're just not hungry, which is where ozempic comes in. Cost varies, but if you shop around it's abou £150 pcm I've sent you a code for £50 off juniper.

Lostinalibrary · 06/04/2023 19:48

ZiggZagg · 06/04/2023 19:38

Hi I've sent a 20% off code for UK Meds, that works out about £105 per pen. 😊

I can’t see stock there?

ZiggZagg · 06/04/2023 19:49

They definitely have the 0.25mg and should have other strengths in each Monday

Fortheloveofus · 06/04/2023 19:55

Thank you @ZiggZagg and @polopolopolopoo

Fortheloveofus · 06/04/2023 19:59

UK meds says out of stock of all strengths

TheGoodEnoughWife · 06/04/2023 20:11

First jab done.

Going to weigh tomorrow morning to get an up to date figure. Then count cals...

(So far too scared to drink alcohol or eat chocolate in case of dodgy side affects so long may that last!)

RichTeaCheddars · 06/04/2023 20:12

I check UK meds each day this week and not found them in stock. I must be being unlucky.

Used some of the remainder of the 0.25 pen for my first 0.5 dose this eve. The needles I bought hurt more! I bought 32g 4mm but it's not as fine and it's longer. :-( at least it's only for 2 weeks until I start the proper 0.5 pen!

UsernameFail · 06/04/2023 20:36

I saw these posted on another thread @RichTeaCheddars

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 06/04/2023 20:52

@RichTeaCheddars - I'm looking constantly too, nothing ever in stock for UK Meds. Really frustrating.

I have a 10%code for Health express that I'm going to use for my next pen and then I'm hoping Wegovy will be available soon after and I think it may be slightly cheaper than ozempics price point.

They don’t.

Diedre44 · 06/04/2023 21:19

I'm due my 4th 0.25 jab on Saturday morning but going away for the weekend, does anyone know if I'll be alright taking it a day early?
I've seen can take it up to 2 days later to continue with your usual schedule but can't seem to find anything for earlier.

LemonPledge555 · 06/04/2023 22:08

Daft question before I take the plunge. Am I to calorie count alongside ozempic? Or is that just what some people do to help?

Habbyhadno · 06/04/2023 22:29

Hello everyone! I've taken my first dose of 0.25 tonight. I'm under the obesity team at hospital but really don't want surgery and also have pre-diabetes, so this is my last stab at losing without surgical help.

I've ordered the pen a while ago and it's been sitting in my fridge unopened as I'm terrified of feeling sick, but tonight I decided to take the plunge.

I tried Saxenda a few months back and only lost 4lb in 6 weeks and felt really rough, so I'm really hoping Ozempic gets better results.

I've just read the very first thread and it was really helpful, so thank you all you OG posters.

Adarajames · 06/04/2023 23:17

I had first injection on Monday and had totally no interest in food for Monday and Tuesday which is unheard of for me unless I’m really really ill. Yesterday wasn’t as easy and snacked more than would be ideal. Today I’m also not interested in food either, unless it’s sugar like Easter eggs 🙄 I did make a decent brunch of mushrooms on toast and an egg, but was a case of eating as needed to and felt almost over full on something that wouldn’t previously fill me up.

Have given in to some chocolate, had a few mini eggs and a couple mini Cadbury eggs, and made myself have some celery and rice cakes with little blue spreadable cheese as felt should eat as diabetic but not bothered.

Do feel internally sluggish though, and realised I’m probably rather dehydrated as haven’t get like drinking either when I usually drink loads so going to have to make myself have more water going forward. Few lbs lost though so it’s going ok

I'm on my second week. I'm giving it my best shot as in the past I have been crap at dieting. I've cut back on carbs and fat. I'm not feeling hungry. For a late breakfast I am eating alternatively, either fruit medley and Greek Yoghurt or 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 1 hash brown, 1/2 tin of baked beans. On fruit medley days I have 1/2 a breast of chicken and beans on toast for lunch or on alternate day fruit medley and Greek Yoghurt. I've had scrambled eggs (2) on a slice of brown bread and an apple for lunch. For dinner I've eaten salmon fingers, 4 baby potatoes and peas or 1/2 a large chicken breast and carrots and peas. I've had fish in breadcrumbs and mushy peas. I've had a pork medallion with blue cheese sauce made with low fat creme fresh and a small jacket potato and carrots. I've been feeling full but have had a slice of melon a few late afternoons. I've not had any alcohol. In week 1 I lost 2 kg. Twice I've had a slice of cheese. I've nibbled it slowly and savoured it. One day I had a small portion of spag bol with only a half portion of spaghetti and that was more or less the only carb I ate that day.

Twilightstarbright · 07/04/2023 01:34

UK meds has shown as out of stock everyday for me too.

LittleDitto · 07/04/2023 04:17

What happens if you’re a few months in and the supplier runs out of stock then?

You will loose interest on food. I
calorie count but mainly due to the hidden calories , as I could use my daily calories on milk in lots of tea and coffee , I now have one fresh coffee lots of herbal tea and one tea with milk in the afternoon. Same with butter I have reduced my carbs and therefore use less butter, no toast dripping with butter, no afternoon scone, instead I have a tiny flapjack of a slither of cake .
It will be important to be aware of calories once you reach your desired weight and to help maintain that weight.

Has anyone had this prescribed by GP on nhs? I doubt I can afford £129-150 a month

It's not prescribable for weight loss yet, only for diabetes. It won't be prescribed by GPs for weight loss either, only tier three weight loss service which you need to be referred for.

I didn't think I could afford it either, but the money I have saved by not eating as much has more than paid for it so far.

MuMuMuuuum · 07/04/2023 08:00

End of week 8 for me and I'm now down 12.5lbs which I'm delighted with. It averages around 1.5lb a week, some weeks I've lost more others less. I'm on 0.5mg and my 1mg pen has arrived but I'm going to stay on 0.5mg for now as my symptoms are non existent unless I over eat.

Ozempic has been a game changer for me. In the beginning I lost my appetite and had to make myself eat. Now I definitely still get hungry but I'm able to not overeat and spiral after 1 biscuit or a bag of crisps. Im sure if I went up to 1mg I'd lose my appetite but I'm seeing this as chance to change my ways and have sensible responses to hunger cues so when I'm off the med I won't gain it all back.

Peridot1 · 07/04/2023 08:17

@Diedre44 - yes you should be fine to take it a day early.

@LemonPledge555 - I didn’t calorie count especially early on as was just eating way less anyway. And to be honest I’m not a fan. But it can be useful for some people. Bear in mind that like any weight loss method if you go back to eating the way you ate beforehand you will regain the lost weight so it is important to have a plan. And given that for most of us it’s the bad carbs and sugary fatty foods that contrite to our weight gain the most it’s best to gradually adopt a way of eating for life that severely limits those foods. It’s recommend to eat higher protein and fibre and lower carb whilst taking Ozempic and going forward to maintain loss that will be how I would aim to eat.

@LittleDitto - that has happened. The supplier I was using last year ran out of Ozempic and I know some people switched to the tablet form for a while until supplies resumed. There seem to me more suppliers now so I think it would be a case of just keeping checking to see who had stock. Australia ran out completely earlier in the year and my friend had to stop taking it. Hopefully the manufacturer has improved production. And I think Wegovy being available soon will help with issues with supplies of Ozempic.

I calorie count. Did do before so it's habit to me anyway. But I like to keep check and make sure I'm not wasting cals on stupid stuff like sauces or alcohol. Seeing how many cals are in a glass of wine is a good visual and makes me stop and think whether I really want it. Plus it will stand me in good stead for maintenance when I stop taking the drug.

Oh that’s interesting, I hadn’t actually considered it a possibility before starting. Hopefully it won’t happen again. This new drug sounds like a total game changer though! I wonder if it’ll have any reflection on the prices.

That's interesting about Wegovy being cheaper, when is it likely to be available ?
