Oh I know @Twiglets1! And for food treats I’m fine with that. I let myself have some treats at the weekend each day. Just wish I’d gone off wine!

RebelGeek76 · 25/04/2023 12:44

@Peridot1 I wish I'd gone off wine too, it doesn't seem to interact as much with Ozempic now as it did in the first few weeks, i.e. I'm no longer a lightweight! I'm slowly losing weight but I'm sure having the odd glass a few nights a week is contributing to my plateaus.

OohBurnDavid · 25/04/2023 14:14

I’ve taken second dose this afternoon. I was definitely hungrier today and yesterday and ready for food first thing so the side effects were wearing off. I ate my sandwich at lunchtime and could have eaten more whereas earlier in the week I struggled to finish it.

I am going to weigh in the morning.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 25/04/2023 15:49

I’ve been trying to get my water drinking up to help with weight loss overall as I know fat burning uses water, but also to assist with feeling fuller. So 2lts water a day means I’m back and forth to the toilet all bloody day. Helping with increasing steps though which is good I suppose 😁

TakeMeToKernow · 25/04/2023 18:40

Afternoon all. A check in on what has been my roughest day so far since starting.

  1. I was late taking the dose. Should have taken it Sunday, but took it late last night instead and didn’t really feel the effects of it today
  2. Over the last 3 weeks, Ozempic has given me a sort of freedom to make so much better choices. I’ve been enjoying plant based eating, but today I’ve just eaten (binged) nothing but UPF and I feel awful. Properly sick.
  3. After waiting for a Dr telephone appointment for ages, the Dr has told me they don’t prescribe semaglutide at all and it’s the “weight mangement services” contractor who is the route to a prescription. Yep, it was that contractor who had redirected me back to my GP.

tomorrow’s a new day. I’m seeing friends to play sport this evening, I’ll call the weight management people tomorrow and see how on Earth I try to get through their process to a possible prescription.

The first three weeks went really well - few side effects and 6lb loss.

Abyss23 · 25/04/2023 19:23

@TakeMeToKernow my understanding is that ozempic isn't available for weight loss on the NHS yet. They can only prescribe it for diabetes.

Fortheloveofus · 25/04/2023 20:00

@TakeMeToKernow I'm not sure I understand your post. Who did you get your first prescription from?
We're you looking to your GP for help with side-effects or for a new prescription of Ozempic?
I'm sorry you've been feeling so bad and hope you're feeling better soon

RausageSoul · 25/04/2023 20:29

Second dose today. Took at 7pm and feeling a wee bit chilly?

Had my first in person compliment today that I look like I've lost some weight. Looks like a 6lbs loss so far

Fortheloveofus · 25/04/2023 20:48

@RausageSoul 6lb in a week. That's brilliant, well done. I developed shivers on the day I was due to take 2nd jab. That was a week ago and still getting them now

RausageSoul · 25/04/2023 20:54

Do you find it debilitating? I have had to put my dressing gown on 🥶

Fortheloveofus · 25/04/2023 21:03

@RausageSoul I'm sat here in winter pj's, heating on and a big fluffy blanket and I'm still cold. But I've also had a lot of nausea and exhaustion too. I've had to ask to work from home on my office days since last Wednesday, not been to gym and haven't been getting my steps in every and had to leave an engagement early on Sunday...so, yeah, not been a great week. Thinking bout missing tomorrow's dose (or doing half, as someone suggested) as supposed to be away at weekend and not sure I could cope feeling this bad and ruining mine and everyone else's weekend

TakeMeToKernow · 25/04/2023 22:01

Thank you x
I purchased Ozempic from Juniper, but I was hoping to be able to get an NHS prescription for Wegovy. I contacted my GP a few weeks ago who was initially supportive of my request, but then said I’d need to go through weight management services.
I think the NICE guidance says it should be for people who have a comorbidity. Below from NICE:

“NICE has recommended the use of semaglutide, also called Wegovy, alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity to adults who have at least 1 weight-related comorbidity and a body mass index (BMI) of at least 35kg/m2.
People with an BMI of between 30-34.9 kg/m2, with 1 weight-related comorbidity who are eligible for referral to specialist weight management services could also be prescribed the drug”

I’m obese and definitely the unhealthy kind. Not the kind of obese where the BMI calculator seems inappropriate for them. But I’ve never been tested for any comorbidities.

FMLWTF · 25/04/2023 23:16

I took my second dose tonight and royally screwed it up. What a plonker. I was rushing and didn’t remove the second cap 🤦‍♀️ Pressed it to my leg, pressed the clicker, waited, removed it and saw a little puddle of liquid sitting on my thigh - the entire dose just dribbling down my leg. So I repeated it - pretty certain that I haven’t double dosed myself but just foolishly wasted one. 😠

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 26/04/2023 01:52

FMLWTF, how annoying, but don't worry too much about wasting some. I actually got 4 x extra 0.25 doses out of my first pen (used for week 1 & 2 of upping dose to 0.50) which was handy since QM had a shortage around that time.
Chills: Now some of you are mentioning it, I've been getting them 2 days after injecting too. I also wonder if it might be making my facial skin a bit drier. I had expected the opposite since I'm drinking so much water + cutting alcohol & sugar.

uggmum · 26/04/2023 08:27

If anyone could send me a discount code for juniper or Manual I would really appreciate it.

Peridot1 · 26/04/2023 08:43

@TakeMeToKernow - Wegovy is not actually available in the UK as yet. When it is it will be available from Boots and other pharmacies. Hopefully cheaper than Ozempic is currently priced! But I agree being given the runaround is frustrating.

@FMLWTF - I did that once. So annoying!

TakeMeToKernow · 26/04/2023 09:03

Oh that’s interesting Peridot! Thank you, I’ve located and signed up to the Boots waiting list :)

TakeMeToKernow · 26/04/2023 09:10

And I’ve got up feeling better today. Slightly nauseous, which is preferable to how I often feel on waking. I get what people say about the mental “chatter” being turned off, but sometimes that chatter is a scream in my head. Instead of flipping UPF cereal, this morning’s breakfast (eaten in two parts) is raspberries, strawberries, Greek yogurt, oats and mixed nuts that I’ve bashed up. Caprese salad prepped for lunch and dinner will likely be tortilla.

Peridot1 · 26/04/2023 09:25

Yes my ‘food chatter’ can sometimes be a scream too @TakeMeToKernow. I still get it a bit now on Ozempic but just try to make better choices so at least I know I’m not actually hungry I just want something.

Your menu plan for the day sounds good. I’m having caprese salad for lunch too. No idea about dinner yet though.

CuckooMamgu · 26/04/2023 09:49

I'm due my second injection tomorrow - I found the first couple of days the "food chatter" stopped completely, and I had absolutely no desire for chocolate of any sort. But the last 2 days, I've been craving chocolate as strongly as ever (I'm a massive sugar addict) but if I give in and eat it, even a small amount, within minutes I have to run for the bathroom - is this normal?

Sameiam · 26/04/2023 10:06

really hungry this morning even though I took my (third) 0.5 dose on Sunday evening. Unfortunate as I’d hoped to stay on 0.5 for another month considering the shortage in 1mg pens. Hopefully it’s just pre period weirdness and I go back to having the appetite suppression soon.

Movinghouseatlast · 26/04/2023 10:16

Hi all. I can't seem to get hold of the 0.5 pen. I have already gone up to 0.5 dose with the extra dose in my 0.25 pen. Health Express are sold out and everywhere I looked would only allow a 0.25 pen as I was a new starter in their eyes I think.

I ordered from Manual yesterday and I called them. They said to go back to a 0.25 dose. I'm just wondering if anyone has gone down in dosage and it still work for them?

That’s odd, juniper would let me start at 0.5 after I did manual for a month for my 0.25. Shortages must be bad!

CuckooMamgu · 26/04/2023 10:24

@Movinghouseatlast Can you not just buy a 0.25 pen and do a double dose? The 0.25 and 0.50 pens are basically the same pen but with different dose labels.

The pens contain 1.5ml of liquid, but there's only 0.19ml per 0.25 dose, so you get 8 doses of 0.25 or 4 doses of 0.5 from each pen.

Hope that makes sense!
