Thanks @OohBurnDavid - is any type ok?

OohBurnDavid · 23/04/2023 21:49

I prefer the powder than capsules, I buy it from bulk powders which works out cheaper than Holland and Barrett. It’s not got any taste but is gritty, I use half a cup of water then drink a cup afterwards to rinse my mouth.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 23/04/2023 22:09

Thanks! Just ordering some which should arrive tomorrow. Really keen to keep my insides moving as normal as possible!

caringcarer · 23/04/2023 23:05

Almost a month now and I've lost 7.7kg. Hoping to get to 8kg by Wednesday. Excited to be moving up to 0.5 dose. I haven't really had any side effects, just a bit queasy when I have not eaten for 5 hours. Have people found side effects started when on 0.5 if you did not have side effects at 0.25?

caringcarer · 23/04/2023 23:47

Can I ask if once people get down to a healthy weight is anyone planning on taking the 0.25 dose permanently to keep their appetite under control?

caringcarer · 23/04/2023 23:56

TheWayOfTheWorld · 23/04/2023 20:14

Taking my first dose tonight. Will drink plenty of water tomorrow and focus on protein and whole foods. Any other immediate tips?!

Eat protein, low carbs and low fat. Lots of water before eating especially. Eat plenty of fruit and veg to avoid constipation. Just small meals and if you eat out order a mixed grill as mostly protein. I ate 1/2 chicken breast about a quarter gammon steak and a few mouthfuls of steak. I only ate 6 chips and peas I also ate a pineapple ring and an egg yolk but all I ate that day except an apple.

Peridot1 · 24/04/2023 09:51

Well done @caringcarer - that’s a great result. You are doing really well. It’s hard to say about side effects when you increase the dose as it’s so different for everyone but in the Zoe podcast they said if you do get increased side effects to drop back down and take longer to go up a dose.

They also talked about increased appetite once you come off the medication- I’m not sure yet what to do. I sort of think that if the medication is supporting me and how my body deals with food intake particularly with regard to the GLP-1 hormone then maybe I need to take it for life so I’m open to that outcome. But that would be along with still following the guidelines for food - higher protein and fibre and lower carbs etc. What I’m aiming for now generally is being more strict Mon to Friday and having a few treats at the weekend.

Hi all, I've just spent about an hour reading through all these posts! So much info!! :) I was going to move up to 1.5 but after reading a link that someone posted I'm going to leave it for a while and properly look at what I'm losing (weight, inches & appetite). In the meantime, would anyone be kind enough to to send me a code please. More than happy to repay the favour if I get one. TIA xx

Fortheloveofus · 24/04/2023 14:06

Hi, can I ask if anyone has purposely missed a week? My 3rd jab is due Wednesday but I've been feeling so utterly tired and nauseous since last Wednesday even before I took 2nd dose. I had a longstanding engagement yesterday which was completely ruined because I just felt ill all day and ended up coming home early. I have a weekend away this coming weekend and I just don't want it to be ruined by being too scared to wander away from the loo or have a glass of wine. I don't want to miss the dose so I can eat or drink more, just so I might have the energy to enjoy the weekend. Any thoughts?

Peridot1 · 24/04/2023 14:13

Yes I have a couple of times. Last year on holiday and also last Christmas. It’s just takes a bit of time to build back up obviously.

I can’t remember what dose you are on? 0.25? The Zoe podcast touched on people having more severe side effects and recommended increasing dosages very slowly. I’m not sure how you would manage that on the lowest dose but you could maybe use the click chart and do half a 0.25 dose for a couple of weeks. Maybe ask the supplier you used?

Fortheloveofus · 24/04/2023 14:19

@Peridot1 thanks for replying. Yeah, I'm only 2 jabs in on the 0.25. I never thought about taking half dose, that's a good idea. It would be a pity to lose a whole week of build up so this could be ideal solution. I've read about people counting clicks but I'm not sure I fully understand it so I'll read up a bit about it. I did have conversation with Manual coach last week but she didn't recommend changing day or missing a dose but I just wanted to see if other people have done it or if I'm just being a lightweight and not putting up with it all so early in my journey

I don't think you are being a lightweight, I just think some people suffer more from the side effects than others. Some people only get mild nausea for example, easily helped by ginger biscuits etc, while others get severe nausea that nothing seems to help.

I think a half dose is worth a try - maybe I should have tried it before giving up on Ozempic. I might try that in future as it definitely sounds worth a go at reducing your side effects. Sorry you've been feeling so ill, I know it's awful.

GlowG · 24/04/2023 15:45

D5W6 and I can definitely feel it wearing off. It’s funny, a couple of days ago I could barely manage 800 cals in the day and yet right now I’m craving two hot melty slices of cheese on toast!

SarahC50 · 24/04/2023 16:52

@caringcarer I'm hoping to be on the drug six months or so and to titrate down at the other side not stop abruptly. I don't want to be on it long term as worry about health effects and also I can't afford it. I'm hoping in these months I'll have lost my cravings for upf, choc and crap I'm also hoping that I've learnt good habits.

It does terrify me coming off it and the weight piling back on but I'll need to be really vigilant.

@Fortheloveofus I'm sorry you're having side effects I found my first two weeks were bad but week three and four I've been ok. Some waves of nausea and fatigue but the fatigue I'm eating a third of what calories I ate before. I go up to 0.5mg this week and I'm scared I'll feel like crap again.Ill report back.

Good Luck ladies we will all get there xxxx

Juniper referral bonus is back, rip the thread code spam 😂

Prettybubblesintheair · 24/04/2023 18:14

If anyone wants a juniper code please pm me!

HermioneWeasley · 24/04/2023 20:13

Does anyone have a health express discount code? I’m considering switching providers

thanks

OohBurnDavid · 24/04/2023 21:11

I took my teen and a friend out for the afternoon and they chose McDonald’s for tea. I chose a crispy chicken wrap, no chips and water. Within 30 minutes I had stomach pains and had to rush to the loo. I assume it was the fried chicken. That’s the first time I’ve reacted to any foods but I’ve stuck to nutritious stuff until this. It will make me think twice about having it again!

iontheprize · 24/04/2023 22:01

Someone posted a DIY mixture to add to water to make up electrolytes but i can't find it now. It was probably some mixture of sugar and salt, but had some other bits in it too. Does anyone have the recipe to hand?

ZiggZagg · 24/04/2023 23:35

Pint of water with a swoosh of lemon juice and a pinch of salt Grin

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 25/04/2023 01:06

Hope everyone is feeling ok.
I'm six weeks in and have lost 8 kg in total, at a steady pace. BMI 31 now so still some way to go, but I am pleased. I've not had any major side effects, but I can't say it's been zero effort. I'm counting calories and am at a pretty big deficit, something I could have never done as comfortably without the appetite suppressing effect. It's really made me think of portion sizes and nutritional value. Best of all: This has totally re-wired my brain in terms of snacking and alcohol (my weak spot). I just don't have any cravings.

SueTirza · 25/04/2023 05:39

I have found coconut water to be a godsend, especially if you are out, it’s pretty easy to get. I make a smoothie in the morning using coconut water as the liquid part.

Twilightstarbright · 25/04/2023 06:53

I agree @VanellopeVonSchweetz99 its not zero effort- you can’t inject yourself and eat whatever you fancy in whatever quantity but it’s a tool to help the process. I’ve noticed a big reduction in my cravings too.

Peridot1 · 25/04/2023 08:41

@HermioneWeasley - I think at this stage it’s just a matter of finding a supplier with stock! There seems to be a shortage again.

@VanellopeVonSchweetz99 - well done. You are right it’s not effortless. The guy in the Zoe podcast on Ozempic said that in the trial both the participants taking Ozempic and those on the placebo were given the same lifestyle advice - higher protein and fibre, lower carbs and fat and to exercise. They don’t expect people to carry in eating the way that they ate before and just take the injection and lose because they are eating much less. It takes effort and being aware of what we are eating. I just wish it stopped my wine cravings! Hasn’t had that effect on me sadly!

Life’s boring without no little sins though @Peridot1 so as long as you’re still slowly losing weight, I wouldn’t worry about still enjoying your wine 😊
