I'm doing this, giving myself 2 x 0.25 doses this week as I'm ready to go up to 0.5ml.

Then I've already got my 0.5 pen ready.

I've had limited effect from 0.25 (shame), and no side effects at all (excellent!), so I'm ready to go up a dose.

Fortheloveofus · 19/04/2023 22:00

Good luck @DrMadelineMaxwell . I hope the .5 has more of an effect for you (weight loss, not side effects, of course)

worriedgasper · 19/04/2023 22:38

It is ok to use if you're on HRT?

kkr168 · 20/04/2023 06:22

Week 1 completed, I've lost 7lb, with very minimal side affects.
I have never lost so much in a week before, on slimming world I starved myself to death & lost 1lb 🤣
I have had the odd wave of nausea, mainly in the 1st 3 days but it seemed to pass quickly.

Twilightstarbright · 20/04/2023 07:19

Well done @kkr168 ! I’ve lost 1kg in my first week which I’m very happy with. No side effects except appetite suppression on days 1-4.

Springclean8 · 20/04/2023 07:53

What is everyone's thoughts on James Smith's (personal trainer with a YouTube and insta following) post on ozempic x

It is ok to use if you're on HRT?

I was prescribed it and told them I take HRT so I would say yes.

GlowG · 20/04/2023 08:33

Five weeks in today, here’s my progress update.

I lost weight in the first two weeks, stayed the same weight for the next two weeks (which was really frustrating!), and then have lost weight in this fifth week (first week of 0.5).

Total weight loss: 13 stone down to 12 stone 7.

Peridot1 · 20/04/2023 09:28

@worriedgasper - I think so. But when you fill in a consultation with any of the suppliers they will ask you about what medication you are currently taking so if not they will let you know.

Great result @kkr168.

@Springclean8 - can you link to it? Or is it easy to find?

@GlowG - good result really. 0.25 is very low as I’m sure you know and some people don’t lose at all. Hopefully you will see more losses on 0.5.

SarahC50 · 20/04/2023 09:37

Thanks for the replies re the excess liquid left wish I'd posted before I'd ordered my next lot. Going up to 0.5 next week but anxious about a return of side effects.

Yes I am on hrt and take it I'm on the gel and utrogestan and it's fine. good luck xx

Twilightstarbright · 20/04/2023 09:45

@Springclean8 I haven’t seen it but in general I’m inclined to believe experts in the field like Dr Andrew Jenkinson or the Zoe podcast doctors over PTs.

Jillian Michaels has written an article trashing it but I feel like she has an interest in selling her diet plans so it’s not a neutral standpoint. If she was a leading obesity research scientist I’d pay more attention.

RausageSoul · 20/04/2023 09:53

@Springclean8 spot on. I'm paying for this instead of my PT who I've been seeing 2x week for over a year. I have lost absolutely no weight.

Decided to give this a go and already feel mentally clearer

Sameiam · 20/04/2023 09:56

James smith also had an absolute fit they dated to feature a fat (but very fit and very talented) female yoga teacher in a fitness magazine. He seems to have some serious hate about fat women so wouldn’t trust him on a drug that’s the ‘easy way out’ vs his blood sweat tears approach.

Whoknowswhere · 20/04/2023 10:05

Quick question for those that are a bit further along. Started Rybelsus from Health Express last week, all good so far. Do you need to go back through the questionnaire etc to order the next batch when the month is up? Or will you get prompted to go up to the 7mg?

Peridot1 · 20/04/2023 10:06

Just watched it. Slight annoyance that he doesn’t seem to know that Saxenda and Ozempic are different drugs. But ultimately he’s not wrong. Nobody should be taking it purely to lose a small amount of weight. Ozempic is for treatment of diabetes - which he doesn’t seem to mention. He does say at the end that if someone is obese and at risk of heart issues, stroke etc then it’s ok. Nobody should be taking it to get “shredded” as he put it.

Sameiam · 20/04/2023 10:07

My first 30 days (ish) on ozempic has been a success! Not really feeling like I look much different (my tight but can wear them out jeans are still tight) but have a very apple pcos shape so my weight is all stomach and boobs. Last time it took until I got to about 68kg before people started commenting that it looked like I’d lost.

Fortheloveofus · 20/04/2023 10:17

I started feeling nauseous yesterday morning, 1 week on from 1st jab. It did abate a little each time I ate (healthily) but still felt hungry.
Had my 2nd jab last night and I had an awful broken night's sleep, have woken up shivery, nauseous and, well let's just say I'm not constipated yet. It's a good job I work from home Thursdays (which is why I chose Wednesday evenings to inject) but I feel pretty sorry for myself.
I've gone from being worried about not having side-effrcts to wishing it was this time last week!
I have a long arranged all day event coming up this weekend and I'm going away for weekend next week and I'm worried I'm going to ruin/not enjoy both. Is there a chance I'll start to feel a bit better over next couple of days?

That’s the thing @Fortheloveofus -
when people without any side effects say they almost wish they had some, people like me who had side effects think, “trust me, you don’t want them!”
It’s a strange aspect of Ozempic that some people get negative side effects and others don’t. And the ones who don’t worry they they haven’t done it right 🤷🏼‍♀️

Abyss23 · 20/04/2023 14:06

I'm 4 weeks in now, no side effects at all and I've lost 16lb so very happy with that overall.

I should have gone up to 0.5 today but I have family coming for a visit this weekend and don't want to risk sudden onset of side effects so I've stuck with 0.25 from the original pen. Will probably do 0.5 next week.

Molly499 · 20/04/2023 14:28

OzzyTrier · 19/04/2023 19:40

So I had my third jab yesterday. I missed lunch because stuff, and had a moderate dinner.

And I have my first nausea .

  • *what are your best tips?

Don't miss lunch?

I have travel sickness pills in stock.

I had a digestive enzyme pill with dinner.

I'm worried about being able to consume enough. Any of you do meal replacement shakes?

I’ve had terrible nausea throughout and have found the Belvoir farm ginger cordial with warm water really helps. Just had my fourth injection, I feel really rubbish for 5 days out of 7, weight loss is really slow too.

Fortheloveofus · 20/04/2023 14:54

@Twiglets1 I know. I'm aware how hypocritical i sound. I think I'd care less about the side effects if I wasn't still permanently hungry. I usually go gym thursday lunchtime but missed today because i havent an ounce of emergy. I did lose 3lb last week but I do think that was the 3lb i put on over the Easter holidays, I'm still back to the dreaded 11st I can't move on from during last last few years. And I had to walk 10k a day and go gym a lot to achieve that. Let's see what this week brings.

Fortheloveofus · 20/04/2023 14:57

I've just had my first chat with Manual coach. I'm not sure I got told anything I hadn't already heard on here. Eat little and often, keep hydrated, nausea and bowel problems are all normal, it'll wear off, keep moving. Don't expect any appetite suppression until you're in month 3, don't compare yourself to others. Speak to you in 2 weeks. That's it really.

Sameiam · 20/04/2023 15:26

Just had a McDonald’s milkshake (totally for science) so it’ll be interesting to see if I get any negative effects from it or if my weight jumps up tomorrow from any bloat.

OohBurnDavid · 20/04/2023 15:58

I’m 48 hours in from first 0.25 dose, appetite has gone and I have an unpleasant taste in my mouth. No other side effects yet other than feeling extremely tired the first night and sleeping very heavily. I am eating three small meals per day but am not really enjoying them due to the taste. I made a chicken pitta with salad for lunch and only managed half, I ate the other half a couple of hours later as I am trying to avoid not eating enough and feeling sick.

Work ordered McDonald’s for breakfast and I chose porridge and a fruit bag and I enjoyed the porridge more than any meal. I think it was the texture. I’ve gone off fizzy and hot drinks too but drinking loads of water, I’ve had 3 litres both days which is double what I usually have in plain water.

I usually do well on a diet for a couple of days then quickly fall off the wagon so am interested to see how the next few weeks go.

LemonPledge555 · 20/04/2023 16:27

I felt exhausted a couple of days after my first jab (second tonight) and in fact I’m sure I had a terribly restless night the day after, so maybe that’s why I was shattered. Definitely planning ahead for that this week. Pizza doesn’t agree with me sadly, even though it’s from a lively local place and not at all greasy. And I definitely had some appetite suppression, as low cal days at the start of the week were MUCH easier than yesterday and today because I am so hungry!
