@Oooiwanna - the introductory dose of 0.25 is very low and although some people lose on it many don’t. I think Manual recommend taking a supplement of Glucomannan for the last few days every week as the hunger increases. It’s a fibre that can help you feel a bit fuller I think. I’ve never tried it. Manual sell it but you can get it in Holland and Barrett too.

It can take some time for the drug to build up in your system and some people do have bad side effects even on the lowest dose which is why staying on 0.25 is recommended. Although being completely honest I started on 0.5 as that was the advice I received from the supplier I used at the time.

I would carry on on 0.25 to see how you go. Make sure you are eating higher protein and fibre and low carbs and drinking lots of water.

what happens when you're BMI is under 30? Will they stop prescribing even thought you're still overweight?

I doubt it, as Ozempic is a long term drug when used to treat obesity.

@FatAgainItsLettuceTime I suppose earlier on this week my appetite was a little reduced but now (day 6) I just feel normal. Another injection tomorrow so maybe that will help? I’m not tracking calories yet - I was hoping not to but I think I’ll have to now I know it doesn’t work brilliantly for me at the mo x

I take Glucomannan on days 5 6 and 7 it really helps me. I spoke to Manual and they advise to drink lots of water.

I have also attached the photo of the needles it's easier to cut and paste a reply.

Anyone not lost anything in their first week? My first 0.25 doesn’t seem to have done anything for me. Haven’t lost any weight. Should I go up to 0.5?

Manual advise it takes several weeks for your body to read what they call a "steady state" . Give it time .

Just did my photos for Manual which was very unpleasant but also a good reminder of why I’m doing this- I carry so much weight on my stomach and I’m not healthy.

I’m assuming it won’t get dispatched over the bank holiday weekend but hopefully I’ll have it by next weekend.

I think each order has to be approved by a pharmacist I would expect your order to be approved Tuesday and despatched Wednesday. Hopefully you will
Receive it Thursday.

Even if you don't actually count calories, keeping a food diary is a good idea because it makes you more mindful of what you've eaten. It's so easy to just grab something from the fridge or the cupboard, eat it quickly then forget about it.

I watched some of that Michael Mosley show a couple of years ago about the Fast 800 diet and they advocate only eating when sat down, without telly, radio, books or anything really distracting you. So that you take the time to enjoy the food and remember eating it.

It makes sense to me because I'm always on the go (full time big job, kid with activities, house) so tend to grab a chocolate bar or a pepperami and eat it as I'm walking from the fridge to the living room so it's gone before I've even really noticed I've eaten it, then I forget and have something else.

Thank you. That's what I'm hoping as I'm at BMI 32 already and 4.5 stone away from being the upper of my healthy weight.

Twilightstarbright · 09/04/2023 10:12

@Beenalongwinter thank you. I’m WFH thurs so that would be ideal 🤞🏻

Hopefully if you take it in the evening you will wake up with no interest In food .
My weight was a bit up and down first week so ignore the scales on week one, I think by week 5 I will be almost a stone lighter . I feel Better already and it's great not to feel hungry all the time .

Does anyone have a quick meds code please?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 09/04/2023 11:02

The halflife of ozempic is 7 days. So half of the dose is still in your system when you take the next dose. So how much is on your system increases each week

Something like....
Wk 1 0.25mg
Wk2 0.37
Wk 3 0.43
Wk 4 0.47
Then they advise going onto 0.5
Wk 5 0.72
Wk 6 0.98

I've had zero side effects and limited noticeable effects on 3 weeks of 0.25.
Depending on results this week I'm going up to 0.5 a week early next week. There is a v small difference in the amount in your system between wk 3 and 4 so I doubt it will make a difference.

My bank balance would have liked a good weight loss on just 0.25. I will see what this week brings..

I had little interest in food for first few days, but last couple days have gone back to feeling hungry, and gave in to a sugar binge as well, what with lots of chocolate eggs etc around and my seeming inability to resist sugar 😡 Next dose tomorrow so hoping will help reduce appetite again so have assistance with not giving in to further binges. Not sure how I’m going to continue to afford it, but will have to manage it somehow if it can continue to help as did for first half of the week

TheGoodEnoughWife · 09/04/2023 13:30

Got bored so worked with the half life thingy... thank you @DrMadelineMaxwell for saying about it.

From what I can see it takes 16weeks for the dose we have floating around our bodies to even out. But also feels it builds quite nicely even with the low starting dose so that is good. I always thought I was in for the long haul but it now feels like the support Omezpic gets better each week for a whole four months and that feels good. If you see what I mean! Lol

Week 1 - 0.25
Week 2 - 0.37
Week 3 - 0.43
Week 4 - 0.46
Week 5 - 0.73 (upped dose to 0.5)
Week 6 - 0.86
Week 7 - 0.93
Week 8 - 1.01
Week 9 - 1.5 (upped dose to 1)
Week 10 - 1.75
Week 11 - 1.86
Week 12 - 1.93
Week 13 - 1.96
Week 14 - 1.98
Week 15 - 1.99
Week 16 - 1.99….

caringcarer · 09/04/2023 16:47

Half life information, very informative, thank you for posting that.

Peridot1 · 09/04/2023 17:00

Yes I’m finding the half life information very interesting too - thanks @DrMadelineMaxwell. And @TheGoodEnoughWife for taking it further. I’m definitely re-thinking how I take Ozempic. I was splitting the dose based on information from a FB group I was in that was run by the company I was buying from.

Oooiwanna · 09/04/2023 17:15

@TheGoodEnoughWife thanks this is really interesting and it all makes sense now! Thank you! X

TheGoodEnoughWife · 09/04/2023 17:28

I was 'banking' on having Ozempic for five months - 1k - a lot but would hopefully get me in a really good place weight wise (have around six stone to lose), that is paying £200 a month and it is clear there are offers to be had so hopefully can use those to go for longer and then see where the finances are at!

Mine has been approved over the weekend, but I’m assuming it won’t dispatch until Tuesday or Wednesday. Am hoping to get it weds or Thursday to get started as they’re days that are good for me!

TheGoodEnoughWife · 09/04/2023 17:56

Mine was dispatched the day after it was approved last week so fingers crossed yours arrives Wednesday.

Twilightstarbright · 09/04/2023 19:00

It would suit me best to get it weds (or ASAP really) as I’m WFH so if I do get diarrhoea I’m not in the office. Will see if I get is dispatch notification tomorrow, they’ve approved the order after the hideous photos were sent.

Remember tomorrow is a bank holiday too. I’m hedging my bets on Tuesday dispatch
