Has anyone tried Slimpod?

Just wondered if it works? I only have about a stone and a half to shift, but it's just proving very difficult - my self-control is shot.

Me too, looks interesting and may try 10 days free trial.

Seriouslymole · 08/03/2023 17:10

Yes, I was looking at the free trial. I guess it's worth a go if there's no tie in.

Bookmarking as also interested!

Seriouslymole · 08/03/2023 17:34

Well if anyone bites the bullet and takes one for the team on this, I'd be interested in feedback :)

A friend of mine has done this and swears by it, she keeps recommending it to me.

And the obvious question to this - has she lost weight?!

Just had a look at the trust pilot reviews, and a few other reviews and am going to sign up. I think 10days is a good amount of time to give it a go.
Will let you know how I get on!

Picoloangel · 08/03/2023 21:03

Thank you @Zazu44 I have a really mad week ahead so can’t commit this week. Please do post back I’m intrigued!

Babana123 · 08/03/2023 21:28

Yes, I have lost 4 stone since August using Slimpod. Half a stone to go. Most stress free way losing weight ever.

It was £33 per month for three months then nothing. So I have paid £99 in total. Not paid anything since Nov.

Really wish I'd found it sooner.

Seriouslymole · 08/03/2023 23:00

@Babana123 - how does it work?

@Babana123 - how does it work?

You have pods to listen to every day. I listen whilst falling asleep at night. There are coaching videos which are released every week.

There is no food plan and no calories counting. It's aim is to get you to rethink your relationship with food and get you to a point where you make wiser and healthier decisions around food. The same way naturally slim people do.

I have found that I now do not eat inbetween meals and as a result do not now really eat biscuits, cakes and crisps. There has been no real effort in this. These things are not banned and if I really want a cake/biscuit etc I will have them. No guilt. It is being able to recognise whether I really want to eat something or whether it's just habit.

There is no syns, no free food, no calorie counting, no panicking if you go out and are trying to 'be good.' It's a change in mindset around food

I'm guessing Slimpod doesn't work for everyone and you have to WANT to fully engage with it, but as my issues with food are all to do with emotional eating it is definitely right for me.

Seriouslymole · 09/03/2023 09:28

That's really interesting actually. I might try it. My is emotional eating and boredom as I work from home. I find if I'm in the office (every other week) I eat three meals a day, and that's it. Thanks for the update.

I found it only worked for about 3 weeks. In fact l got my money back.

Zazu44 · 09/03/2023 10:42

I joined and listened to the pod last night and then the chill pod after, I went to sleep so much easier, really hopes it helps with my binge eating

Pipil · 09/03/2023 17:39

It's an offer for everyone and you can cancel in the 1st 30 days. Impressed so far

mamatoTails · 09/03/2023 18:39

Oh the reviews for this look great,
Definitely going to read a bit more and consider it

Inkpotlover · 10/03/2023 07:03

I've tried it and didn't get on with it. The pod recordings themselves are great and I listened to them as directed, but there are quite a few other things you're expected to do along the way, like eat avocado/spinach/broccoli every day or throwing away the scales, so even though it talks about ripping up the diet rules, there was still an emphasis on 'you MUST follow the steps to the letter or it won't work'. I found the process quite mind-consuming in the end, which is ironic because it's supposed to change how you think about food.

Inkpotlover · 10/03/2023 07:44

To add, it clearly works for lots of people - in the FB group people record massive losses. But I've been trying to get away from the 'I'm on a diet' mentality, so I think that was a factor in why I didn't get on with it. It says it's not a diet but if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck... 🦆

Yes, I was thinking that. I did in fact, get the free 10 days yesterday and tried it last night for the first time. I want to get to a mindset where I don't actively think about food all the time. However, this is actually making me think more about food. It was a bit like a friend of mine who went to AA to help with his drinking, and said having sat round in a circle and talked about nothing but alcohol for an hour, he came out desperate for a drink. It didn't help that, having listened to the pod, I slept really badly last night - snoring other half and diabetes alarms from DS going off all night. Sigh

Anyway, I'm going to give it longer than one night and see where we get to. I have a big holiday coming up in three weeks, and I would quite like to go and not go totally loopy on holiday like I normally do.

That is exactly it, OP! I couldn't stop thinking about what I needed to do to lose weight and was I following the programme correctly. It was a constant and it wore me down.

Where I did find it worthwhile was it made me take stock of my eating habits and I realised that 80% of the time I was actually a healthy eater. Cooking from scratch, loads of veg and salad, but I had a major weakness for crisps that would trigger binges. I also ate WAY too much - portion sizes that could feed two adults and still have leftovers. I'm now using a portion plate and I've set myself one rule – I only eat crisps on Fridays now. The weight is finally coming off and best of all, my mind is freed up. To the point that I only remembered about ten minutes ago that it's Crisp Friday!

I hate to say it then, but it sounds like it did work for you - that does sound a bit like a "mind reset" - no?

I'm still thinking about what I "should and shouldn't eat" and I really want to just get to a place where I don't think about it at all - like I don't think about drinking wine every hour of every day, I'll just have a glass of wine (or three) over other week or whatever - I need to be like that with "treat food" that I don't think about it but enjoy it when I have it - if that makes sense.

Enjoy the crisps :)

You know what, you're right - I suppose it did give me a mind reset in a round about way! I just felt like I'd failed at it because I didn't complete the 12 weeks and didn't listen every day. But somewhere deep down in my subconscious it has affected a change in thinking, because no food is off limits for me as is the Slimpod ethos, I just have less of it. And I get what you're saying about wine – I can easily go days/weeks without drinking too, but it's so much harder with food. Crisp Day works for me because when I was a kid we'd get a packet of crisps on a Friday night as a treat when my dad went to the offy to buy his weekend beers. It was SUCH a treat, I loved it and savoured every mouthful. So I'm using that positive association to stick to it and it's a breeze - I don't even think about crisps in the week now (have been doing this since beginning of Jan).

As an aside, OH has just offered to make nachos with all the toppings for dinner tonight because it's Crisp Day! That's love!
