Thread 1: www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4715040-lazy-pig-seeks-other-lazy-pigs-to-lose-1lb-a-week?page=1

We started on 9th January (ish) after we’d very heroically finished off the Christmas chocolate. We discussed our half-arsed plans to shift a bit of timber as we wafted our pudgy trotters vaguely towards the fruit bowl. No one really wanted to exercise properly because it’s too cold/wet/exercisey. We all love biscuits more than being thin yet we vowed to cut down on digestives. We promised, with our fingers crossed just in case. We owned our weaknesses, piggies, we owned them loud and proud and we were as determined as porky trough munchers can be, to aim for around 1lb a week weight loss.

And lo! Lazy Pig Club was born, hooray, and now we need a new thread. Let me know you’re here and how you’re doing, and new pigs are definitely more than welcome!!

Always remember our only rule and the LPC motto: “slowly, slowly - don’t make yourself sad”

Hello all. May I shuffle in and join you in the sty?

I'm a stone and a half heavier than I was 10 years ago and I'd like to wear some (not all) of my old things again - or at least not have to buy new ones for weight related reasons. Put on my trusty bellwether trousers yesterday (the ones that can handle a range in weight of about 25lbs) and they are straining grumpily at the seams.

I lost 10lb in January, before sitting my arse down on the sofa and gaining it back with a few extra lbs to add to the party.

I'm phenomenally shit at preparing food and will always go for the least effort possible. Think bowls of dry cereal and/or oatcakes. Terrible hunger cues, so will eat nothing all day because I'm not hungry, then demolish a box of cornflakes in one sitting. I despair of myself, honestly.

Well done to those who have shifted a few pounds!

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 15/03/2023 13:04

Well, they do say one or two squares of dark chocolate a day is good for you. No one said how big those squares were 😉

Kitchen isn't allowed to open again until the next morning..... Hmmm, I feel an early night or two coming on!

BeADinosaur · 15/03/2023 16:45

Super busy at work, but just popping in to say a Fuck You to Twiglets.

They are so addictive and ruining my good plans.

Though they are baked, so on the healthier side of things to be addicted to.

It could be Crack I guess.

EyesOnThePies · 15/03/2023 18:04

I think I view Twiglets as a health food.

Maybe this is where I am going wrong.

BeADinosaur · 15/03/2023 18:24

Compared to crack I think you are going right with the Twiglets.

SignOnTheWindow · 15/03/2023 18:29

Lots of B vitamins in twiglets... I think?

DietQueen2023 · 15/03/2023 21:58

I was on the last thread but fell off! It is good to see everyone doing well!

im losing more like half a pound a week 😬

Colinthedaxi · 16/03/2023 07:46

Probably a pound a month here DietQueen but back on a very gradual loss. 10.9 (from 11 stone) this morning. Deleted Happy Scale App, was not making me happy 🤣

EyesOnThePies · 16/03/2023 08:12

Hello @SignOnTheWindow and respect @DietQueen2023 , a lb a month is still a downward slope on the graph. And also, not an increase. Stopping putting on any more weight is a good start!

@SignOnTheWindow In order to stop my endless snacking, working from home was really ‘working from next to the toaster’ I had to actually schedule a snack. Decide what time to have lunch, and that a snack would be at 4pm, and decide in advance what it would be and have it reasonably ready. So that I didn’t just veer off into the fridge for a free for all.

Maybe you could schedule breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner, set an alert, eat something prep-free but healthy at those times whether you are hungry or not?

Ready made soup and one slice of toast. Salad from a bag. A banana. Chicken drumstick bought cooked. Felafels if veggie.

It took me about 5 days to break my snack habit and adjust comfortably to the new timetable.

EyesOnThePies · 16/03/2023 08:55

A new low since joining the thread: I only have half a Kg to go before reaching my target!

This is what I ate yesterday:
A couple of spoons combined of oat bran, all bran, Lidl fruity flax seed mix , with Smugberries, half a chopped apple and a spoon of full fat Greek yogurt.

One slice of wholemeal bread, toasted, half spread with a third of a mashed avocado, half buttered and with a boiled egg.

One hot cross bun modestly buttered

Shepherds Pie (sensible portion), red cabbage, broccoli

Tiny fig pastry

V small bowl of cereal

1 vodka and lightweight tonic

1 teaspoon of chopped candied peel.

Mañanarama · 16/03/2023 09:20

Well done everyone, especially @TheZeppo and @EyesOnThePies for your sterling achievements!

And welcome @SignOnTheWindow, you found your pigs!

I’m still hovering around 10.2 but considering what I’ve eaten this week I’m not holding out much hope for loss. Fell into the Lindt shop the other day and left £20 lighter.

More meals out to go then back on it properly next week!!

Keep going, ladies! 🐷

EyesOnThePies · 16/03/2023 09:58

There is an actual Lindt shop?
<<swoon>>

EyesOnThePies · 16/03/2023 10:00

That makes you 20 pounds lighter?

We need a piggy day out!

Mañanarama · 16/03/2023 10:39

Yes! Imagine the damage we could do in there!! All aboard the pigmobile!

Avoiding the scales this week, for fear of inevitable gain.
Back on it next week.....as long as I don’t get any Mother’s Day chocs. Been dropping huge hints about Lindor white strawberries and cream chocolates so that may not pan out.

EyesOnThePies · 16/03/2023 11:59

Is the Pigmobile affected by strikes?
I can't see Porcine United in the list of striking unions?

Can confirm the direct route from sty to Lindt store will never be on strike. Never.

Morning all. You know those slow bicycle races where you have to go as slowly as possible and not fall off? I’m doing the weight loss version of that. Half a stone exactly today. At some point I should start depriving myself a little more. Blush

amberedover · 17/03/2023 10:15

@HamFrancisco half a stone !!! bloody brilliant !

^^ that is such a good idea ,I'm going for it .I have a big failure of making a proper meal and then grabbing calorie dense and fattening stuff .

Thanks! I’m about 4.5 stone overweight so I could certainly lose weight faster than I am with more discipline, but today at least I’m a winner. 😆

Mañanarama · 17/03/2023 13:43

Well done @HamFrancisco, half a stone is much better off than on!

@EyesOnThePies, that is a very good suggestion indeed - thank you. I will give it a go (once I have lifted my snout from the Pie de Angloys cheese I was, ahem, 'made' to buy earlier).

I might need to get myself a nice, meal-planning notebook...

SignOnTheWindow · 18/03/2023 17:29

@Mañanarama The Lindt Chocolatier must be the Pied Piper of pigs. I'd happily skitter after him to that shop, even if he is well creepy on that advert.
