Thread 1: www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4715040-lazy-pig-seeks-other-lazy-pigs-to-lose-1lb-a-week?page=1

We started on 9th January (ish) after we’d very heroically finished off the Christmas chocolate. We discussed our half-arsed plans to shift a bit of timber as we wafted our pudgy trotters vaguely towards the fruit bowl. No one really wanted to exercise properly because it’s too cold/wet/exercisey. We all love biscuits more than being thin yet we vowed to cut down on digestives. We promised, with our fingers crossed just in case. We owned our weaknesses, piggies, we owned them loud and proud and we were as determined as porky trough munchers can be, to aim for around 1lb a week weight loss.

And lo! Lazy Pig Club was born, hooray, and now we need a new thread. Let me know you’re here and how you’re doing, and new pigs are definitely more than welcome!!

Always remember our only rule and the LPC motto: “slowly, slowly - don’t make yourself sad”

I just can’t hit that bastarding stone and now all I can think of is getting a choc Lindt reindeer 🤬🤣

Ooh well done though @TheZeppo, you’re going brilliantly so probably deserve a bastarding reindeer!

I just bought some orange twirl Easter eggs for the kids at the supermarket but husband dropped and smashed one when we got home, so now we’ll have to eat it.

Pathetic here - 2nd of January - 11 stone, now 10.11

Have sweated every day and reduced alcohol to a mere sniff.

Apparently it is true, it's all about the food!

Better down than up, Colin! Keep going!

It is definitely food with me as I don’t exercise (must try squats again) and haven’t changed anything else. I’ve just stopped eating like a literal pig and become more carb conscious eg a bit less pasta and garlic bread, or saving some of my pizza for the kids lunch boxes next day. And I had to stop buying biscuits, I was doing in packets per week.

I’m tucking into a box of Dairy Milk right now though, the new honey crunch ones are gorgeous!

“carb conscious”?
Oh my god have I become a…. diet wanker…?

OP posts:
HamFrancisco · 07/03/2023 08:52

Good morning diet wankers everywhere. My period is due so I'm eating anything I can get my trotters on, it's ridiculous.

Mañanarama · 07/03/2023 14:45

Well I’ve got some good news. I have a couple of events coming up so ordered a LOT* of dresses to try on in 12s and 14s, most of which were too big so reordered 10s in my favourites and they’ve just arrived and they FIT! Hooray!

Now, could do with some sort of undergarments to tame the muffin tops and stop my arse looking square. Any ideas? Do I need a girdle?!

*24 in total, oops.

Right, let’s fix this. What have you been doing / not doing?

Right, let’s fix this. What have you been doing / not doing?

Oh it’s no mystery 😂
I’ve been eating all the things in the sty with absolutely no thought for the big picture! Over and over again.
I’ve had a bit of a change of heart though as to ‘why’ I’m doing this, which has helped over the last few days.
Ive only ever really wanted to drop a few pounds and all my clothes still fit from literally years ago, if a bit tighter than I’d like. Not a brag, it’s just meant I lose interest/motivation every time the cakes or crisps turn up. It has dawned on me though that my back issues are worse now than they used to be. I assumed it was age, but it could definitely be worse due to carrying a bit more weight.
so I’m back with a better reason and therefore hopefully a renewed determination

Mañanarama · 07/03/2023 15:31

Ah ok then, it’s really just a matter of a delayed start! You can do this!

Any distraction techniques for when you're feeling snacky? Don't say drink water or to snack on nuts/popcorn/celery. To quote Olivia Coleman, "I'd rather put shit in my eye." Although she was talking about running marathons*.

*I too have that feeling re. marathons.

HamFrancisco · 07/03/2023 19:11

Ugh, snacks are my nemesis. The argument “if it’s not in your house you can’t eat it” is bollocks too, I just get in the car and go to the shop.

Uhhhhh, snack are my downfall too. If I knew the secret to snack distraction / avoidance I would be thin 😬.

Odd thing is, all day I don't snack at all, it's the evening, sitting down to watch something when my snack craving hits. Perhaps temporarily wiring my snout shut is the only way.

If I were to do that it would merely hasten the development of inhalational chocolate. Steam has no calories, right?

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 07/03/2023 19:27

God I wish there was a like / lol button. 🤣

CheekySwine · 07/03/2023 20:01

Snacks are my downfall too. I work in a school and the staff room is always full of treats! I'm worst for snacking as soon as I get in from work, I cat wait for tea and end up inhaling a load of food.

I'm trying to swap biscuits for a boiled egg and a bit of day ham. Not the same though.

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 07/03/2023 20:10

@CheekySwine feel your pain there. Work in a small office where MD is a feeder. Last team meeting he spent £60 on m&s junk food because he thought people deserved a treat. Very sweet but two weeks later and I'm still avoiding it all. It's painful but I will not crack! Not been tempted yet.

However, if it was evening and that was in my house, I'd probably be hoovering it up faster than preppers hoard toilet roll during a pandemic.

My go to at the moment is if I want to snack, go for a bath. I'm positively prune like now....... Does that make me a devil on horseback 😉 ( see, food thought never ends)

BaconAndAvocado · 07/03/2023 20:38

Inchstonesbeatmilestones Snacking in front of the tellybox is 100% my downfall.

I’m sitting here now waiting to watch something with DH (who is watching Dune ....again) and the Kinder chocolate bars in the fridge are calling to me. I really shouldn’t ignore them.

For DH’s birthday I got him a subscription to a monthly healthy snack box (menopause brain is screaming that I’ve already posted this 🤔).
There is no CDM, Kinder or Lindor themed snacks. Boxes are shit.

EyesOnThePies · 10/03/2023 09:20

I like the little cornichons in a jar from Lidl, I get the chilli flavoured ones, and the saltiness and strong taste sort-of-almost replaces a crisp hit.

Meanwhile I have reached a new ‘lowest weight since starting the thread’ and am 100g away from having a new ‘big number’, always a boost to my motivation.

Come on Oinksters, we can do it!

A small success is a success, an up spike is just a little texture on the downward swoop of the graph , and each day is a new day, Trotters Forward!

BaconAndAvocado · 10/03/2023 10:45

Whoop whoop for you EyesOnThePie 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Just don’t do what I do and celebrate by mahoosive troughing.
Lost 0.5lb this week. Bit disappointed but the above-mentioned weight loss celebrations probably have something to do with it.....

Mañanarama · 10/03/2023 11:45

Morning all, I’ve been a bit ill this week so not eaten much, down to 10.1.4 this morning so that’s exactly 10lbs down since we started! A few big meals coming up though, starting in about 15 minutes with a nice steak pie.

OP posts:
EyesOnThePies · 10/03/2023 14:50

Wow @Mañanarama 10lbs down is fantastic!

I KNEW hollow choc santas are mostly fresh air!

BaconAndAvocado 0.5 lb is still a loss! Imagine a pack of butter? That's how much has disappeared from your piggy middle. That's good!

Mañanarama · 10/03/2023 15:07

Thanks @EyesOnThePies, it does sound a fair chunk but I’m not skipping about feeling svelte yet. Still flabby and not summer ready so I’ve got a bit to go.

Aiming for 9st 12 by 9th April which would exactly meet my initial pound a week target. I think the “slowly slowly” is working!

OP posts:
BaconAndAvocado · 10/03/2023 20:04

10lb overall is great Mãnanarama. Slowly, slowly, catchee skinny piggy!

HamFrancisco · 11/03/2023 08:24

Hello slender porklets. I’ve lost the plot a bit this week so am cheering from the sidelines rather than getting amongst it. Well done everyone!
