Thread 1: www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4715040-lazy-pig-seeks-other-lazy-pigs-to-lose-1lb-a-week?page=1

We started on 9th January (ish) after we’d very heroically finished off the Christmas chocolate. We discussed our half-arsed plans to shift a bit of timber as we wafted our pudgy trotters vaguely towards the fruit bowl. No one really wanted to exercise properly because it’s too cold/wet/exercisey. We all love biscuits more than being thin yet we vowed to cut down on digestives. We promised, with our fingers crossed just in case. We owned our weaknesses, piggies, we owned them loud and proud and we were as determined as porky trough munchers can be, to aim for around 1lb a week weight loss.

And lo! Lazy Pig Club was born, hooray, and now we need a new thread. Let me know you’re here and how you’re doing, and new pigs are definitely more than welcome!!

Always remember our only rule and the LPC motto: “slowly, slowly - don’t make yourself sad”

Yes, me.

Decided will be good in (most of) February.

Really need to sort myself out before spring springs, catches me out every year!

Mañanarama · 26/01/2025 13:41

Think I need to start weighing in more and writing it down, it helped last time, so I will announce my weight on 1st Feb and you must bollock me if I don’t lose at least 4lbs by 28th.

Greetings Piglets!

I was on this thread about a year ago......

I'm in a much better place re eating/weight.

I put on about half a stone last autumn/Christmas.

However, I'm not starving myself silly trying to lose it as I might have in the past.

Instead I'm eating more healthily, really upped my vegetable intake (easily smashing the 30 different plants a week)
I've also cut down massively on UPFs but I'm not berating myself if I have some chocolate.

Since I started this new approach I've lost 4lb.

Mañanarama · 10/04/2025 18:11

Thought I’d tell you about today’s remarkable achievement in my quest to reduce carbs. This is what I’ve eaten:

One boiled egg (good start)
A chicken, pesto and avocado sandwich (two veg, right?)
A doughnut (had a hole in it though)
A Greggs yumyum (because I craved one the other day and my daughter came home with one for me, and it’d have been rude not to)
A fish finger butty in doorstep bloomer
With chips.

@Mañanarama re the biscuits, is all you did to lose weight, give up biscuits for 8 weeks?

abracadabra1980 · 11/04/2025 07:39

@whatausername how long did it take for the cravings to go away? I have a dreadful craving for juicy raisins. I literally salivate when I see the packet. Urghh.

@Mañanarama re the biscuits, is all you did to lose weight, give up biscuits for 8 weeks?

I just cut right down on carbs (unlike yesterday) and need to pull my finger out and do it again. Biscuits were my biggest problem and ditching them made the most difference I reckon!!

Hello. I could do with losing a stone in the next 8 days. Any ideas?

TheZeppo · 10/07/2025 20:56

Im not sure. But I can tell you how to gain one in a month 😳

Ummm, stand on one leg on the scales?

Otherwise vitamin tablets and lovely glasses of cold water, and a sliver of chicken breast with some watercress once a day?

While taking a crash course in fell running?

Just LOOK at the Lindor?

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 11/07/2025 11:37

Well, not recommended but a colleague got food poisoning recently and lost 10 lbs in two days. Can only imagine the horror or how that came off 😱

Presuming you're not up for a bit of self poisoning and don't want to spend two days on the loo, get someone to hold up one of your legs whilst weighing yourself, see the lighter number and celebrate. If the scales say it's true, it's true 😉

Mañanarama · 02/01/2026 10:43

January 2nd weigh in - 10 stone 11 lbs. This is exactly where I was two years ago when I first posted. Felt chubby in my frock on NYE so we go again…

Another gentle and doable 1lb a week target, definitely need to be around 10 stone by the end of March or the dress I’m wearing for a wedding will not fit.

Anyone still around?

EyesOnThePies · 02/01/2026 11:00

Here I am and ready to get myself fitter and less insulated for Spring and Summer.

I did OK this year but have had an OTT Autumn and Christmas and this morning am heavier than I have been in 5.5 years (when I did my significant reset) .

So, aiming to lose 4Kg, by the end of March.

SW: 70.4 Kg.

NO MESSING!

EyesOnThePies · 02/01/2026 11:12

Actually, that’s pathetic: by the beginning of March!

Kgs always seem so big, it’s only 8 lbs.

I can do this!

I got a water filter jug for Christmas and am keeping it in the fridge. Cold nice tasting water is a good drink! I resisted opening wine while watching the Night Manager last night and enjoyed the wholesome refreshing water as well I might after NYE

The fridge is also full of veg after raiding the Lidl / Aldi 5p bags, so I will make a good lot of tasty veg soup.

Plan:
Breakfast: Porridge and berries / yogurt and berries , with added oat bran, a spoonful of flax seeds or a couple of walnuts.

Lunch: no more than one slice of wholemeal bread with some protein (could be lentil soup) and loads of veg / salad

Mid afternoon snack: e.g 2 oat biscuits and 39g cheese / satsuma and small mug of cocoa-only hot choc

Dinner: normal, but modest on the carbs, up the veg, no deep fried.

Alcohol: no more than a glass of wine, 3 nights a week only.

Mañanarama · 02/01/2026 11:18

Less insulated - love it!!

So we’re not far off a similar weight and target, we have to do this!!

I have a fair amount of Christmas chocolate to eat so think I will enjoy this weekend with my head in the Lindt pick n mix, and whatever’s left after that will just be little occasional treats.

OP posts:
EyesOnThePies · 02/01/2026 11:37

Fair enough, it is very hard while the Xmas goodies are still sending signals from within the cupboard, their pathetic but shrill “Come and get me, let me OOOOOUT” whining is constant.

I ate the last of the Christmas cake, the last mince pie and the last of the Celebrations that are everyone’s least favourite yesterday so the coast is clear.

Mañanarama · 02/01/2026 11:47

My food plan is:

One boiled egg for breakfast.
No carbs for lunch.
Normal tea but go easy on eg garlic bread, naans, potatoes etc.
DO NOT AT 10PM EAT ALL THE CHEESE
Stop buying biscuits.
Go to bed a bit hungry.
Lie down and marvel at the emergence of hip bones.

OP posts:
Mañanarama · 02/01/2026 11:49

Oh and water. Must drink more even though I hate it, so one pint every morning as a starting target.

OP posts:
EyesOnThePies · 02/01/2026 13:00

I think if you stick to that your hip bones will be fighting to be seen!

I weighed myself this morning and at 10st 8lb, I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, including pregnancies!
Would love to lose a stone.

EyesOnThePies · 03/01/2026 11:18

Go for it BaconAndAvocado?

What’s your strategy?

I am drawing a veil over yesterday as I was ambushed by some stowaway lebkuchen (?) and some chocs in gimmicky over-packaging from M&S.

No further excuses, I need to get myself into the mindset.

Enjoying healthy food, enjoying the fact that I am treating my body well and supporting my health.

I need to bootcamp myself for a couple of days as the first success, the first 100g down, fuels my motivation.

TheZeppo · 04/01/2026 12:43

im back too!

starting a new job tomorrow- first new job in almost 20 years. Want to make a good impression. So no sticking my head in the trough at lunchtime.

@Mañanarama One boiled egg for breakfast would have me knee deep in the trough by lunch! Maybe throw a babybel in the mix? Softly softly, don’t make yourself sad…

EyesOnThePies · 04/01/2026 13:14

Hey Up TheZeppo!

Good luck in your new job - that's fantastic!
