Thread 1: www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4715040-lazy-pig-seeks-other-lazy-pigs-to-lose-1lb-a-week?page=1

We started on 9th January (ish) after we’d very heroically finished off the Christmas chocolate. We discussed our half-arsed plans to shift a bit of timber as we wafted our pudgy trotters vaguely towards the fruit bowl. No one really wanted to exercise properly because it’s too cold/wet/exercisey. We all love biscuits more than being thin yet we vowed to cut down on digestives. We promised, with our fingers crossed just in case. We owned our weaknesses, piggies, we owned them loud and proud and we were as determined as porky trough munchers can be, to aim for around 1lb a week weight loss.

And lo! Lazy Pig Club was born, hooray, and now we need a new thread. Let me know you’re here and how you’re doing, and new pigs are definitely more than welcome!!

Always remember our only rule and the LPC motto: “slowly, slowly - don’t make yourself sad”

Thank you! My work clothes are a tad tight 😂

we can do this!

Mañanarama · 05/01/2026 13:39

Good luck @TheZeppo!

I’ve failed at the first hurdle, had leftover beef stew and mash for lunch. It’s too cold for salad. And while I’ve diligently ploughed my way through most of the Christmas chocolate, I’ve not even opened the 30 quids worth of Lindt yet.

Logged onto this board to join a weight loss thread and saw this one was resurrected! These threads made me laugh a lot in the past so can I please join again? I didn't post much but always read and was under another name.

I have started this morning. Start weight 13st 2 but in my defence I had a baby 6 months ago 😁

I want to focus on healthy foods, more veg, fibre, etc, as opposed to focussing on calorie counting as I will use that as an excuse to eat crisps! But I will weigh my food and input what I eat into MFP to keep track.

What I have eaten so far:

B: Granola and kefir
L: 2 slices seeded sourdough, houmous, rocket and tomatoes. 2 sq dark choc

I will post at the end of the day what I have had for dinner!

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 05/01/2026 14:27

Happy New Year all. Great to see this thread back up and running.

Had an up and down year but mostly down thank goodness. Got to be the first year ever that I didn't put on weight at Christmas. ( I can thank the husband as he's gone dairy free in support of our youngest who's allergic, so no lovely cheese or chocolates over Christmas).

Hoping to lose a couple of stone this year which will put me just below the middle of my healthy BMI.

Lots of homemade soups on the horizon as my trotters are frozen 🥶

EyesOnThePies · 05/01/2026 14:55

Welcome to the sty, @2025MUM2025 where we aim to keep our trough healthy and our spirits high!

Good start!

I am back in my exercise routine and went to a Body Pump class this morning. I am imagining myself full of purpose and fuelled by...what is it exercise produces? Endorphins? Oxy somethings?

2025MUM2025 · 06/01/2026 12:22

Sorry meant to come back last night and post what I had for dinner but life took over.

I had chicken, rice, green veg stir fry with a honey soy sauce from a packet, I think I can make the sauce myself next time.

Also picked at DC's leftovers, 1 sausage and 1 slice of white toast 😫

Started the day good with my usual granola and kefir. Have a soup making on the hob.

EyesOnThePies · 06/01/2026 15:43

Good stuff @2025MUM2025

I am having a soup making marathon today. Using up veg I bought when Lidl were selling 5p bags. A bowl of hot soup is a good decoy when a cheese toastie starts to look tempting.

How's the job going @TheZeppo ?

And the water drinking, @Mañanarama ? You really don't need to make yourself miserable drinking a pint in the morning? No-one's hip bones demand that great an ordeal. And you'll just wee more.

SW: 70.4 Kg
TW: 70.1 Kg

(Starting / Today's Weight)

<<Cautious smugness>>

Yesterday:

Coffee. Didn't get up in time for breakfast before gym class.

Boiled egg and wholemeal toast
Extra toast with jam

2 ginger biscuits

1 and a half kippers with new potatoes, tenderstem broccoli and peas.

Small bowl of meusli.

So...not really a good day for sensible eating.

Today so far:

Blueberries with a couple of spoons of meusli, spoon of oat bran, semi-skimmed milk

Half a kipper mashed with a small amount of mayo on 1 slice of wholemeal toast, little gem lettuce

Small bowl of soup (parsnip, fennel, channa dhal and sage - a version of Jamies white bean and sage soup)

Might have an apple in a bit.

Dinner: not sure.

I have been adding oat bran to breakfast as I am trying to keep cholesterol down. Also it is filling without being calorific.

EyesOnThePies · 06/01/2026 15:54

@Mañanarama does your Lindt stash include any of the new Pistachio Lindor?

I was hoping for some for Christmas as I haven't tried them yet. No such luck, all I got was a packet of almost out of date roasted nuts from an aunt. FFS.

Yes, it’s my second favourite so I picked loads! You can now get them in boxes in the supermarket and they are a fiver ish well spent.

I’ve realised there is little point launching my new regime until all the chocolate is gone. After that I will feed a bit sad but hopefully thinner.

Powering through it, ladies. I’m a trooper.

My new job hurts my brain. But it’s kept me ridgedly on task: diet going well! Not really diet. Just not eating everything in the house. Dry Jan too. Hmph.

lost my Xmas weight though 🎉

no one bought me Lindt either. Selfish bastards. And I didn’t even get the consolation prize of nearly out of date nuts. Sod them all.

2025MUM2025 · 08/01/2026 13:56

So I have realised I have been massively undercounting my calories, eg, the sourdough slices when weighed were DOUBLE what I was counting them as 😨And I wasn't counting a drink I was having which is 175 calories.

I think I am going to have to cut back on bread and carbs!

Had the last of my granola this morning and crumbled a Weetabix into it that needs using up. Won't be buying that again.

Currently making a chicken, rice, vegetable soup using stock from the freezer.

Mañanarama · 13/01/2026 19:54

Fucking hell. Having just about finished all the festive treats, my husband just walked in with a Lindt reindeer his aunt gave him in December to give to me for Christmas, which he accidentally left in his car boot.

AIBU to eat the whole thing tonight? Medium sized (it, not me)

Wrong thread sorry!

EAT IT!

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 13/01/2026 21:42

Rude not to eat it 😉

Consider it an act of mercy, no reindeer left behind 😂🦌

Mañanarama · 13/01/2026 21:52

It is done. RIP Rudolph.

Reindeer Down!

I was doing SO well and then was deployed to look after a relative for a few days in circumstances where I had no choice of meals and was also plunged into not just comfort eating but a full blown emotional crisis BINGE due to the unbearable personalities and behaviour of certain people involved.

I am back now and have resumed my healthy eating pattern. But it set me back a lot (my own fault really) and I have decided to see how much damage limitation I have managed by a weigh in on Friday.

As we say in the sty - tomorrow is another day!

Onwards, Oinksters!
