Is anyone else doing this? I started on Saturday (a little later than my planned 1st Jan start as I was skiing). So today I completed my first day of the 14 day phase 2.

I took the salts on Saturday but they didn't kick in until the evening so kids bedtime was fun.

I ate vegetables all weekend, drank black tea and coffee.

Today I have had:
B - Blueberries and Greek yogurt
L - Spicy mince with mushrooms, peppers and salad with ACV
D - 2 egg omelette with mushrooms and peppers and some cucumber and dessert was steamed apple sprinkled with cinnamon.

I have been sipping on fruit tea through the day (which I think is allowed).

I weighed in this morning and have lost 4 1/2 pounds so far - 148.8lbs starting weight and now am 144.5. So we will see how the weigh ins go...

Honestly I don't feel hungry, if I was to snack now it would be because of boredom rather than hunger which is why I'm planning to take myself to bed soon.

I'm really hoping to keep this up and complete all the phases but I would love to have a buddy? Is anyone else on the HBD wagon?

Anyone else feeling cold? Not felt warm since I started the diet.

Z0rr0 · 14/02/2024 15:06

@Ali102 Yes! Particularly in bed at night. Was so cold for at least the first week, I had to put my dressing gown on top of the duvet. Am mostly better now. She does address feeling cold in the book.

Perfect28 · 14/02/2024 15:10

@LBMCR avocado is fruit

Z0rr0 · 14/02/2024 15:22

I wouldn't necessarily advocate my approach which is more relaxed than most, but I am having a drop of milk in my coffee and tea. Maybe a tablespoon. Tho I have given up the half a teaspoon of sugar in my coffee. I didn't do the Epsom salts either. But the weight loss has still been great. 11lbs now (today is my last day of P2).
She says you can introduce rye bread / toast in P3. There's a woman on Insta on the HBD hashtag who is constantly promoting her chickpea flatbreads. I might give them a whirl.
So looking forward to introducing oil so I can have veggies that aren't just steamed.

Z0rr0 · 14/02/2024 15:23

@Perfect28 She says you can have up to 80g of avocado as part of your veg.

Perfect28 · 14/02/2024 15:30

Jeeze this diet sounds exhausting. Diet culture can get in the bin 👎

Yes I know but it’s permitted as per other comment

LBMCR · 14/02/2024 17:10

Also I completely agree, I never do restrictive diets usually. I’m trying this out as I’m peri menopausal and been gaining weight steadily the last few years plus I’m finding I’m intolerant of foods I never was before so rosacea is flaring up monthly whereas was v v rare in the past (like maybe every 3 years). Giving it a shot as a reset and then introduce foods back in

Mentaldays · 14/02/2024 17:59

I’ve been cold too!
Also I forgot to have a coffee with lunch so had it a bit later 🙈.
I had prawns and brussel sprouts for dinner with garlic and chilli, a bit unusual but filling.
Im also going to have my treat meal a day early as I just can not wait and want it at the weekend!

Ginthing · 14/02/2024 18:33

@Perfect28 i believe the thread is called Human Being Diet. If it’s not for you, scroll
on by, but some of us are finding the group chat helpful

Z0rr0 · 15/02/2024 09:57

Well despite my illegal gins on Tuesday and my one day early treat meal last night, I still lost another pound. Although I also know my body takes a few days to catch up to extra calories so I may well gain it back again. But that's 12lb for me. One more lb and I will be back to the weight I achieved last summer for a wedding, the lowest weight I've been for maybe 12 years. Looking forward to starting on the next stone and a half that I need to lose. But so far I am loving the impact of this diet. Need to read up on P3 now.

Lazydaiz · 15/02/2024 13:37

Well done you @Z0rr0! That’s really encouraging. 👏

Ginthing · 15/02/2024 13:57

@Z0rr0 well done! That’s great. Boy am I today! Think I took treat meal to excess!

lemontova · 15/02/2024 14:00

Being cold makes it harder to stick to. On days when I'm really struggling, for lunch I have 130g cauliflower sliced like a steak, air fried, then melt 50g cheese over it and have the rest of my cheese with an sliced apple after. Feels like a treat but is still on plan!

LBMCR · 16/02/2024 08:20

I completed phase 1. Didn’t find it as hard as I thought I would but I’m already sick of things cooked in stock I had the saltiest taste in my mouth. The Epsom salts decided to finally work at 11pm on day 1! So I was up late dealing with that. Just had 2 boiled eggs with spinach and a coffee. Very happy for some protein

LBMCR · 16/02/2024 08:48

I wanted to ask, does anyone know the reason that you can’t do cardio until phase 4? I’m not a gym goer but I normally do 1 dance class a week and a few home weight workouts
Also what phase can you drink fruit teas?

Ginthing · 16/02/2024 08:58

@LBMCR well done on completing P1! The reason for the no Cardio is that it raises Cortisol which has an impact on fat loss. It’s all in the book. Having said that I also attend a dance class and play tennis once a week. Both of which I love, and I think I need for my mental well being. I did stop the dance class through phases 1 and 2 but continued with tennis. Now I am into P3 and back to both. If this is to be a life style change then it needs to fit into my life style! Re the fruit teas, I think they can come back in P4 - sorry!

Ginthing · 16/02/2024 09:02

Aarghhh! So, treat meal fall out. Today I have gained 2lbs 😭 Three weeks ago I would have been thrilled by the number on the scales this morning, today I am more than a little disappointed. Also, having looked back, I hadn’t lost any weight at all since starting P3. I know she says it slows down but it’s a little disheartening. I have a big/busy weekend ahead. I really hope I don’t end up right back at the beginning on Monday, a little nervous now.

Thank you, I must have read it and then forgotten.

I think I keep up the dance class as I can go low impact

Z0rr0 · 16/02/2024 15:55

Ohh @Ginthing that is so disappointing but I am sure it's a blip. I bet it's mostly water because your treat meal was more salty than usual. Just remember where you were at the start and where you are now. Are you tracking your weight on Fitbit or MFP? That's good for always reminding you how far you've come even if there's a bit of a step back.
Hang in there. I think I will mostly be doing P2 with the oil added in to make cooking easier, plus the treat meal and some alcohol. I don't think I will be adding carbs or sugar back in. Maybe the occasional slice of toast with eggs.
Will see how that goes. Could well be commiserating with you come Monday if my more relaxed diet this weekend has me gaining weight!

Ginthing · 16/02/2024 16:08

@Z0rr0 hoping it’s mostly water. I did notice I hardly p’d at all yesterday. Sorry if that’s tmi 🤣. I use Happy Scale to track my weight. I like the rolling average’s. If I’m not happy with the number on the scale I have the average weight to keep an eye on as well. I’m mostly P2 with oil, although I have reintroduced yogurt at breakfast, was getting sick of eggs! And the cherries seem to be sneaking in after most lunches. I probably need to keep an eye on them. Fortunately I couldn’t find any 100% rye when I shopped so bread is still off the menu for now. Enjoy your relaxed weekend!

Z0rr0 · 17/02/2024 12:04

Had my first slice of toast in two and a half weeks this morning. Sort of half thought the wheat thing was BS but my wheat based rye bread honestly didn't really add much to my eggs, avo and mushroom breakfast and I feel so bloated now. So I think will be mostly leaving bread out for now unless I can try the proper rye bread she recommends.
No weight gain despite the more relaxed diet, but no loss either. See what happens next.

Ginthing · 19/02/2024 14:23

How are we all doing after the weekend? I went completely off the rails and had a mad weekend. But I knew that was going to happen. 4lbs back on, which is a shame, but no more than I deserved! Back to it today. Strict P3 until I get back to where I was weight wise, although I do seem to have just had a square of dark chocolate after lunch, so I guess it’s not that strict P3 🙄

Lazydaiz · 19/02/2024 18:00

I’m now on P2 D7 …….. and can’t believe that I’ve made it this far! I’m doing a lot better than I thought I would, and the cravings for carbs and alcohol are definitely fading. My portion sizes may have been a bit off for a couple of days as the batteries in my scales ran out so I was guesstimating, and I realize now that I was being rather generous! I’m feeling as though I can definitely get to the end of P2, and am starting to loose weight which is a great motivator.

@Ginthing I’m sure you’ll soon get back on track. Sounds as though you had a great weekend though!

Ginthing · 19/02/2024 19:31

@Lazydaiz oh well done for sticking with it. You’ve absolutely done the hardest part. The thought of having to re do P1&2 kept me on track and focused.
I had a great weekend! But I have been soooo hungry today. Literally counting down the minutes to each meal!
