5ft 4- what weight is considered slim?

Hi
Firstly I know this is hugely subjective. Just wondering what people's opinions are on this. I have lost weight over the last year and a half, gone down from 17st 3lbs to 12st 8.25lbs. goal weight is 10st 6lbs which I want to get down to by the end of the year.
I would like to know what people consider a good weight for my height (5ft 4inches), like what weight would make me look slim, I don't know whether to lower my goal weight. Ive still got quite a big belly. I'm not expecting to ever be stick thin, but would like to look relatively slim by the end of it

Thanks for any responses in advance 😊

I'm 5'4". When I am 9 and a half stone I am definitely a size 10. Currently 10 and a half stone and I would say I am looking a chonky size 12/14. Amazing how quickly weight impacts at this height. Lucky bastard DH at 6'2"!

MatildaJayne · 09/01/2023 15:25

I'm 5'4" and I lost 4 stone when I got divorced through stress. I got to 9st 4lbs and I felt fab. Looking back at photos though, I looked a bit gaunt around my face and my apron never did tone up! I looked a lot better at 10st 7lbs. I'm now back to 13st 4lbs sadly!

newtb · 09/01/2023 15:31

I used to weigh 10st 2 and at that weight measured 36-24-35 at the same height. Fat, I was not.

Firstshoes · 09/01/2023 15:32

I'm 5'4 and 10st 3, size 10-12. I feel I look pretty good and always told I look slim. I would like to get to 9st7 ideally but no less than that. I'm in my fifties and think my face would suffer if I lost much more than that!

Ihavedogs · 09/01/2023 15:33

Well done on your weight loss so far.

I would stick to your current goal weight and then reevaluate once that is in sight. Once you get there, you may feel quite differently about things.

Lemonademoney · 09/01/2023 15:35

Same height as me! Currently nearly ten stone and not carrying it well although I am small busted and carry weight on my arms and legs. I generally feel I look at my best about a stone lighter so around 8 and 3/4 but I only ever get to this weight through dieting and exercise and I find it hard to maintain! My usual weight sits around 9 1/2 stone when I’m not scoffing cheese and chocolate whilst quaffing wine 🤣

Appleblum · 09/01/2023 15:36

I am 5'5" and around 7.5 stone. I think I'll probably still look slim around 8 stone.

Ansjovis · 09/01/2023 15:44

Body fat percentage is important here too. I'm 5ft 4, 9 stone with 22% body fat and get told a lot that I am "tiny". When I started being serious about my diet and exercise I was 36% body fat and looking at the before and after photos you can really see the difference.

My mother is 5,4” and has always been between 8-9 stone, she has a narrow frame and she has always looked slim and petite. For comparison I’m 5,6 and 8 stone 3 but I look bigger than my mum despite wearing smaller clothes as my overall frame is larger (wider hips, slightly broader shoulders).

AardvarkParty · 09/01/2023 20:00

I'm your height OP and I was over 15 stone as a young adult. Well done on your weight lossy

I've been around 10 stone for years now. To me, my happy weight is the one that I can maintain without any stress/battle/restriction. This appears to be about 10 stone for me now.

I do lift weights regularly and have done for a long time, so I probably weigh more than I would have done in the past but look slimmer, if you know what I mean. I'm toned with decent muscle mass.

I'm a size 10 in most shops (vanity sizing means I'm sometimes an 8).

Purpleavocado · 09/01/2023 20:06

I'm 5'3" and 9st 7lb and a solid size 12. I want to get down to 9st, possibly a bit less. I'm worried that I carry weight as an apple, so probably around my organs.

idonotmind · 09/01/2023 20:35

I'm 5'4 and my optimum weight is around 9.5 stone. Reckon I'm around 10.5 at the moment, looks OK but could do better really.

Clothes hang better when I'm slimmer.

Sparklefoof · 09/01/2023 20:37

I'm the same height and I'm happiest around 9st (currently a not so happy 11st!)

HairyKitty · 09/01/2023 20:42

It’s very individual as different bodies look different. I’m 5’5” and just over 9 st but I wear a 12/14 and look like other women who weigh 10.5/11 stone

Stroopwaffle5000 · 09/01/2023 21:01

I'm 5'6 and look my best at 9 stone

HaroldsDogBowl · 09/01/2023 21:03

I'm 5ft 1.5 and I'm chubby at anything over 8st 5lbs

And I'll always have a bloody belly after the 2 kids. Angry

Helenahandkart · 09/01/2023 21:11

I’m 5’4” and currently 10st5lbs. I look ok, and a lot slimmer than I did at 13st, but probably not slim.
I think a lot of it depends on how you carry your weight. Mine is all round my hips, so at my current weight my top half looks pretty slim.
I used to be slim in my teens and 20s and had a steady weight of around 8.5st. When I slimmed down to a similar weight a few years ago everyone said I looked too thin, so maybe how thin you appear depends on your age as well.
I’m aiming for 9st.

Thanks all. I'm 30 and have never been slim, so find it hard to judge what is a good weight, I set the initial goal at the top end of a healthy BMI. But I would love to look good weight wise at some point and I think now I've lost a decent amount of weight, I'm re-evaluating the goal weight
I would ideally like to ultimately be maybe a size 10.
I'm thinking maybe dropping my goal by another stone, so 9st 6lbs?

I’d keep your goal as current. You’ve done so well. See how you feel when you get to that weight and assess then.
Have a plan for when you do get to the weight you want to stick at as I know several people who have also said in varying ways that they found hitting their target weight and then not putting the weight back on in some ways the hardest bit of their weight loss journey.

elastamum · 09/01/2023 21:13

I am nearly 60 and 5ft5. About 9st6 and look pretty good for my age. I am very active and look fit rather than thin.

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 09/01/2023 21:31

I’m 5.4
when I got married I was ideal at 9 stone 9.
I have big boobs and carry water weight.
9 stone would probably be too skinny on me. I’m 10.3 now since having a baby and can’t (not trying hard) to get it down.

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 09/01/2023 21:34

I’m still a size 10!

NeedAHoliday2021 · 09/01/2023 21:41

It’s fascinating how different builds make such a difference.

I’m 5’4” and currently 11st 9 - this on me is a size 12-14 but really more a loose 14. My favourite weight in my 20s was 9st 4 - less and I looked ill. I’m 2020 I was 10st and happy as I had the balance of eating well and nice shape but then I put on weight and started weight training. Being a toned 10st 6 looked good on me.

TheDogsMother · 09/01/2023 21:50

I'm 5ft 3 and am about right at 8 stone 4 or 5. I am currently 9 stone and it's sitting on my stomach and thighs. Any more than this and I get a matronly shelf for a bust too 🤣

NeedAHoliday2021 · 09/01/2023 23:19

I’d stick with your target, get there then decide how you feel. Weightloss is better with small targets.
