Lazy pig seeks other lazy pigs to lose 1lb a week.

Ok, this starts on Monday, as I have a steak pie and mash and yorkies to eat tomorrow. Will also heroically finish the Christmas chocolate so it’s out of the house. Once that’s all achieved, I’m good to go.

I need and must lose at least one pound a week until April. That’s about a stone.

Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Wrong. I’m basically fucking lazy, I hate exercise, hate going out in bad weather and am a total gluttonous food guzzling pig. And probably peri menopausal. And I sit at a desk all day. And a million other pathetic excuses why I’ve not shifted this weight in 2022 like I said I would.

I can’t be the only one who’s got sod all willpower, so who’s up to being fully accountable to this thread?

Lazy pigs like me especially welcome. Weigh in Monday morning.

Good morning Slim Judith, @Mañanarama, and all the other LazyPigs!

I am particularly proud of myself this morning: for my two Sports Direct mugs full of tea for my liquid breakfast, I didn't put in sugar 😮

I now have a "sugar deprivation" (self-diagnosed) headache and am trying not to look at the Christmas chocolate which is winking at me.

What's for lunch, LPs?

1.5 stone to lose. I was in a MUCH BETTER shape this time last year.

Mini goals:

  1. My trainer is back from holiday so re-starting 3x workouts a week from today
  2. Drink water! 8x glasses/day. I use beautiful glasses and this helps
  3. Fruit every day
  4. Dessert only sunday
  5. No random snacking.
readingismycardio · 09/01/2023 09:40

Ohhhh and veg with every meal!

EyesOnThePies · 09/01/2023 09:44

I had a really good day yesterday… and then completely blew it by eating a whole bar if Ritter Sport Peppermint Cream.

No matter: today will be better.

I am squeezing into my new gym leggings and going off to a Body Pump class!

Ebananascroogey · 09/01/2023 09:46

@muddlingthrou I'm not sure about perseverance, I'm lucky that my body likes lentils. Raw veg & salad is my big problems, my ibs blows me up like a balloon if eat them, I love a good salad, but have to pick when I actually eat them so I can lie on the sofa with my jeans undone, farming like the said trooper!!

Inastatus · 09/01/2023 09:51

@Ebananascroogey - farming sounds quite strenuous, should help things 😂

Yeah I have a super healthy really annoying husband who goes for a walk early every morning and eats fruit for fun. I know! I should probably LTB as this is mumsnet.

Kids are fine too and pretty active. It’s just me.

How DH for a walk. Maybe start off once a week?

Do you walk the school run to up your steps?

weekends… what do you do with your kids? Could you incorporate a short walk?

I can’t function on a morning until I’ve had at least two cups of tea and a poo. I also struggle to tolerate my/any humans (it’s not them, it’s me).

I asked my husband what’s the best thing to do, for me, and he said “go to bed hungry”. He obviously knows my limitations and that seems easier than marching up hills at 7:30am or whatever time he goes (I don’t know - I’m asleep). So tonight I’m going to do just that.

I'm going for a walk.

I am, I really am.

I started off well and walked the kids the 2mins to school but it was COLD!

I've done one work meeting and now I will try to stop finding excuses and get myself out of the door (and stop reading this thread!!)

Haven't weighed myself. Too scary.

Ebananascroogey · 09/01/2023 10:19

@Inastatus if farting burned as many calories as farming i would have no need at all to be here! 🤣🤣

Mañanarama · 09/01/2023 10:30

I’ve just done 25 squats with accompanying knee clicks. Will try to do that hourly during the working day. Have not eaten anything yet so I feel like I’m in credit.

Do you do the school run? How old are your kids? Could you use them as a motivation to get moving more?

in my aunt’s experience who very very gently and slowly lost weight… but she did it AND she kept it off…. She made teeny tiny changes to her movement. That kept her out of the kitchen for a start but also had a domino effect that after a walk, she didn’t want to undo it with stuffing her face with biscuits.

how old are your kids? And do they do sport outside of school?

TomAllenWife · 09/01/2023 10:55

For those with lack of childcare / time try Les Mills online
There are zero equipment options

I find it much easier to get home, put the oven on, bang out 30 min class, put dinner in, shower & done

TomAllenWife · 09/01/2023 10:56

Much heavier than I expected but still hoping for 1st loss
Protein shake this morning
🤢

Wallowingwendy · 09/01/2023 11:00

I have shreddies this morning. 150 kcal soup for lunch but then I'm driving and will miss dinner so will have to go to a service station. The lure of McDonald's will likely be too much.

My kids are teenagers so I no longer do the school run, they’re pretty active outside of school as well as walking there and back every day. I think
home based exercise is best for me until it’s warmer and I actually want to go out for nice healthy walks!!

Which protein shakes do you use? Wondering if this would be a good mid morning option for me.

You lot have made me chuckle, and also feel a little better.

I am also heavier than I've ever been. This time last year I was heavier than I've ever been...I'm nearly a stone heavier than that! I have two to lose really, but am happy to knock one off first.

I sat and instead of doing my morning doom scroll, I meal planned and did an online shop that I'm picking up later. I have had yogurt, frozen blueberries zapped so they're warm, strawberries, a bit of honey and some flaked almonds for breakfast. For lunch I have a chicken casserole that we made in the slow cooker last week, looked at and thought 'we'd rather order a curry' and so I whacked it in the freezer.

I have also set up a spreadsheet with losing 1lb a week so I can watch a graph going down. It's gone up this month.

TomAllenWife · 09/01/2023 11:28

@Mañanarama a PT I know recommended this

Lazy pig seeks other lazy pigs to lose 1lb a week.
TheDogsMother · 09/01/2023 11:34

Ooh can I join you all ! I have been fannying about for 18 months trying to shift 1.5 stone. It seemed to appear from nowhere and has set up home around my stomach, thighs and arse. It doesn't seem to be in a hurry to leave either. I do try to get 10k steps per day but have fallen off the home workout wagon in some style. I am relying on muscle memory to get back to it but it's going to have to be a very distant memory. I have a milestone birthday coming up in July and don't want to look like an over stuffed sofa for it. I'm 5 ft 3 so not enough height to spread it all over 😂

Mañanarama · 09/01/2023 11:40

Welcome, new lazy piggies!

Done another 25 squats and still not eaten, so I must have shifted a pound since this morning, right? RIGHT?

I was up late working on a project so only got up late for a meeting. Meeting was rubbish and near enough pointless. So now I'm having a very late breakfast. At least the delayed breakfast means this is a proper meal and not stress/angry/exhausted eating!

whatausername · 09/01/2023 12:15

Can't even have a proper coffee because the water is now off for a repair. Just going to angrily nibble the banana I'm having with breakfast.

Mañanarama · 09/01/2023 12:22

I’ve had a poached egg on toast for lunch. Feeling a bit smug a whole 4 hours into the Lazy Pig plan. Told Mr Manana (chief chef) I need to start eating more healthily, and he just laughed. This is not him being unsupportive, he just knows me. He won’t be laughing when I need a whole new wardrobe because I’m soooo slim.
