Ok, this starts on Monday, as I have a steak pie and mash and yorkies to eat tomorrow. Will also heroically finish the Christmas chocolate so it’s out of the house. Once that’s all achieved, I’m good to go.

I need and must lose at least one pound a week until April. That’s about a stone.

Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Wrong. I’m basically fucking lazy, I hate exercise, hate going out in bad weather and am a total gluttonous food guzzling pig. And probably peri menopausal. And I sit at a desk all day. And a million other pathetic excuses why I’ve not shifted this weight in 2022 like I said I would.

I can’t be the only one who’s got sod all willpower, so who’s up to being fully accountable to this thread?

Lazy pigs like me especially welcome. Weigh in Monday morning.

I’ll join, I have a few stone to loose and I hoped when I got our dog it would get me moving more but she is even lazier than I am, tomorrow more movement for the both of us.

boxingdayisbest · 08/01/2023 18:27

I'd love to join please. I have all the same challenges as you OP!

whatausername · 08/01/2023 18:27

@SparklyThrow 😱 oh no, my fear has come true! Someone has discussed the gloves in public! I've had a slight fear that someone will reveal how wonderful they are and that all the stock will vanish.*

*I make no claim as to the rationality of my fear, or even of my mind for that matter.

HamFrancisco · 08/01/2023 18:39

LazyPig · 08/01/2023 18:23

Ham - having a think about it is the first step. Thinking about reducing calorie intake reduces calories, surely?

Oh, absolutely. It all counts. Fools rush in, and all that.

SparklyThrow · 08/01/2023 18:42

@whatausername I have the same fear, I stock pile them. <<whispers>> you can get them for your feet as well, but they don't help with the snacking <<sigh>>

Ebananascroogey · 08/01/2023 18:43

@LazyPig in my head it would be no booze on a Sunday too, in reality I have a large glass of red in my hand whilst waiting for my hubby to produce a beef casserole with dumplings & bread with lashings of butter!!
Maybe I will go for no booze on a night that has school before & after - that makes sure I get Friday, Saturday & Sunday for drinking!🍷🍷

Waitingfortheweekend · 08/01/2023 18:46

I'm shamelessly marking this thread for when I can be arsed to make a bit more effort to lose weight. There's still too much Christmas chocolate in the house for me to sabotage me currently but once that's been dealt with I'll be all in. I'll be cheering you all on from the sofa in the meantime and hopefully getting some tips

SparklyThrow · 08/01/2023 18:47

The thing with calorie deficit is it's 3500 over a week, rather than 500 a day. This is how I justify my massive Friday night carb coma pizza. I just need to eat a lot of veggies on the other days.

theremustonlybeone · 08/01/2023 18:51

SparklyThrow that’s the best way to do it. Set calories for the week, track them and save some for treats! I am aiming to lose 2 lbs a week and lost 3 last week. And I know tracking and cutting out booze does it for me.

LazyPig · 08/01/2023 18:22

@Ebananascroogey when you say no booze on a school night: what about Sunday? 😱

I don't count Sunday as a school night, it's still the weekend, right? 😜

Pastatonight · 08/01/2023 18:53

I would like to apply for membership. I have decided my goal will be to say no to at least half the opertunities for gluttony presented to me in the day. Dont worry will not be missing out just less hopefully. I have started counting my steps as well.. has been a bit dire with wfh and started to feel like I was never going to feel agile again. Trying to keep above 7000 and then build from there...

@SuzyQ12 I can get on board with that logic, no need to make going back to work harder than it needs to be, right??

BazingaBaby · 08/01/2023 19:02

We only get two days at the weekend, don't make one of them sad! Monday through Friday can be sensible.

Bingo! We have a motto!

“It’s the thought that counts”

  • I think you should run for LPM. LazyPigMentor. This is an excellent idea.

Particularly as I'm not at school anymore. ☺️

Wowzel · 08/01/2023 19:04

I'm a lazy pig.

I need to be less fat by mid feb as my swimming costume doesn't fit!

@BazingaBaby Friday does stop when I log off for the weekend though? (Pleaee say yes!)

muddlingthrou · 08/01/2023 19:24

Please can I join? I've somehow gotten into a terrible habit of two breakfasts, afternoon snacks and wine at any excuse 🤦🏽‍♀️ my weight has been steadily creeping up ever since I had my DD early last year and the dog walks are getting shorter... I'd love to feel like myself again and fit into my wardrobe. It's time to draw a line!!!

Mañanarama · 08/01/2023 19:37

Everyone is welcome, particularly if they generally have the wrong attitude towards being good but are willing to give it a go.

I must say I’m pleasantly surprised by how many of us are in the same sinking ship boat!!

My thoughts exactly, surely the weekend stops Monday morning

Can I ask what time do you go to bed and what time do you start eating the next day? Desperately trying to defer the 6pm rule to like, 9 or 10pm, as I go to bed quite late and rarely eat again til lunch the next day (which, I’ll be honest, I’ve demolished by 11am some days)

Im usually in bed by 10 or 11 and wake up at 5/6pm when I start the day with coffee and then porridge or peanut butter toast.

But I don’t starve myself in the evening, I snack quite a bit and on weekends I do have carbs sometimes in the evening when we have guests over. It’s more like a general maintenance thing and works well for me.

misslonglegs · 08/01/2023 19:56

@Mañanarama Absolutely do what’s best for you, if you find it hard to stop with carbs so early you could eat things like ryvita with nice toppings or wholemeal toast/crackers. As long as you’re generally avoiding highly processed carbs which are just awful for you.

coffeeginandkindness · 08/01/2023 20:11

I am a lazy pig.

BazingaBaby · 08/01/2023 20:18

@Ebananascroogey of course! Little treat to congratulate another week of work done! But only a little one maybe, not a whole packet of bourbons (as I've accidentally done in the past!) Blush

Lovely234 · 08/01/2023 20:35

Yes!! This is my place. I’m sat on the sofa with my jeans unbuttoned as they’re too tight. I’ve eaten half a pack of chocolate malted milks and the other half is shouting me from the kitchen. Little hope but I’ll try!
