Ok, this starts on Monday, as I have a steak pie and mash and yorkies to eat tomorrow. Will also heroically finish the Christmas chocolate so it’s out of the house. Once that’s all achieved, I’m good to go.

I need and must lose at least one pound a week until April. That’s about a stone.

Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Wrong. I’m basically fucking lazy, I hate exercise, hate going out in bad weather and am a total gluttonous food guzzling pig. And probably peri menopausal. And I sit at a desk all day. And a million other pathetic excuses why I’ve not shifted this weight in 2022 like I said I would.

I can’t be the only one who’s got sod all willpower, so who’s up to being fully accountable to this thread?

Lazy pigs like me especially welcome. Weigh in Monday morning.

@whatausername haha 😂 that has tickled me! I’m only the vicar's wife though, we are more Agatha Christie Murder at the Vicarage than Vicar of Dibley (minus the actual murder, of course 😬😂) Actually I think the vicar's wife in that was a Geraldine, wasn’t she? Will have to look that up now.

Morning Oinksters! I have had my smug berry smoothie for breakfast and two mugs of tea, but after a lengthy staff meeting I’m ravenous and nowhere near lunch break…oops biscuit time 😱

That said, I did have a migraine last night (luckily I tend to get no headache, but the other symptoms are all there 🤢) so I’m trying to be gentle today and ended up driving in to work rather than biking 🙈

What is everyone else having for lunch? I have leftover roast veg and one (ONE!) single chipolata sausage. Not 100% virtuous but not terrible.

Hi MountainMermaid!

That all sounds very difficult. It does sound as if finding healthy affordable recipes will be crucial for you.

Are you looking for lower calorie versions of your cultural dishes or can they be any? Are you cooking for a family?

I have to be economical and these are a couple of things I do:

Salad items and be costly. And coleslaw slathered in hi calorie mayo. ‘Zingy slaw’ is v cheap, and low cal. I shred red cabbage and carrots, and dress with a little oil, lemon or lime juice, grated ginger (fresh, jar or even ground are ok) and salt. The colours cheer you up. I use sesame oil because I keep a bottle for stir fries etc but any salad oil is ok.

Tom Yum and other noodle soup type dishes. The paste can be expensive to make if you buy everything for small quantities, but I make up a load and freeze it as ice cubes. Or buy the tubs from E Asian shops, it keeps for ages. Anything but the jars from Tesco! Anyway, make a tasty broth, add noodles of choice, suitable veg that are reasonably priced (shredded cabbage is a good filler along with more expensive items like baby corn, bean shoots etc if you can stretch) spring onions. Add protein. Packs of chicken thighs are economical: 1 per person or 2 between 3 people.

Dhal and rice

Potato / chick pea/ spinach curry . Frozen leaf spinach from Iceland is good value. Steady on the oil.

Whoa, zingy slaw sounds amazing! I don't like coleslaw precisely because of the mayo but I need to give your recipe a go! 😋😋

EyesOnThePies · 12/01/2023 11:07

Zingy Slaw is fab! I like a lot of ginger and lime on mine.

I love ‘Smugberries’ 😂.

I love ginger and lime 😁😁 definitely will be trying this soon.

I am feeling quite nauseous and tired (3yo woke up for a loooong stretch last night) and would be very glad to go home abs have a long sleep. On the plus side, I’m not terribly hungry so I’m not snacking!

I've just had a situation involving a large lunch of bacon and egg but I haven't eaten 5 digestives so that's OK.

whatausername · 12/01/2023 13:08

Eggs are fine, they've been demonised! Unless by large lunch you mean 8 of them because, well, then that's less good. But also impressive in a weird way.

EyesOnThePies · 12/01/2023 13:14

Eggs: fine especially if boiled, poached or scrambled
Bacon: fine especially if grilled and lean
Eggs and bacon with fried bread, hash browns and 3 sausages: how we ended up in this thread.

🤣🤣🤣 ain’t that the truth!

Buggered up lunch, I think. Had a big fuck off tuna mayo and cheese bagel. I started feeling full about 3/4 way into it so I just, in the manner of a true LPC member, heroically powered my way through.

Snuffling in. Went to cinema last night with DD - Whitney film was v good, obviously brilliant music throughout (if you’re a Whitney fan and if you’re not why are you watching the film?). Only downside was it was audio described (didn’t tell me this when I booked) so had subtitles throughout with all the ‘loud applause’, ‘music swells’, ‘muffled laughter’ etc plus all the dialogue and lyrics - I found it v distracting. Obviously it’s great that they do offer this but it would be good to know beforehand as I’d probably have chosen a different viewing.

Anyhow, back to the LP plan - was good all day (can’t remember what I had now but it was ‘good’). I shared a small popcorn with DD and we threw half of the tub away so not too bad. Had half a small pizza for dinner and some wine. Still haven’t weighed myself cos you know, batteries... Tomorrow will be weigh in day for sure as hopefully will keep me in check for the weekend!

Some great lunch ideas on this thread but some don’t seem enough calories or at least for me!

Pretty sure my BFO bagel had enough calories for ALL of us.

vicaragechristmas · 12/01/2023 16:23

I accidentally had a small packet of hula hoops and another sausage as my afternoon snack, having been asleep since I got in from work 😳 my fitbit is making pointed comments about exercise but I’m still feeling shitty post-migraine. About to cancel a concert I was going to go to tonight with work friends - my favourite singer so I’m gutted! 😢 but I really don’t feel well.

Anyway MyFitnessPal had a nice motivational message at the top when I signed in to log my shame: "It's never too late to start again!"

Yup, this is making me smile too, as is @EyesOnThePies comment 😆

Ebananascroogey · 12/01/2023 16:24

OK so I completely gave up yesterday, I had the shittiest of shitty shit days, so I drank all the wine & kept away from the thread so as not to infect all you positive piggies with my bad mood!!
Back on it today. Had a bagel with just a scraping of butter & jam for breakfast, soup & toast for lunch & just 4 small marshmallows for a snack (I know that's wasted calories, but at least they're fat free!)
Now just need to keep it up for the evening, repeat after me "no wine, no wine!"

HamFrancisco · 12/01/2023 16:32

Thanks for your positive words about the bacon (although it's perilously close to cannibalism on this thread). It was relatively harmless given that I had the bacon and eggs with oatcakes.

However, something then happened that meant I ate some bourbon biscuits and a tube of mini eggs.

So there's that.

LazyPig · 12/01/2023 16:42

I am so bored of rice cakes. They really are basically cardboard.

Never mind the bourbons and Mini Eggs - oatcakes with bacon and eggs!? Really? Does that work? I've only read had butter/cheese/pate with oatcakes. Oh and jam once but that was a mistake never to be repeated.

HamFrancisco · 12/01/2023 16:44

Not those weird biscuit type oatcakes, North Staffordshire oatcakes, they're a bit like crepes.

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 12/01/2023 17:59

Evening all,

Had a good day today with soup for lunch with a fruit pot and a packet of hula hoops puft ( only 71 cals a pack, positively saintly 😉).

Got chilli for dinner but making a massive batch so I have some for the freezer.

Food shopping was delivered today and husbands at football tonight so think I'm going to have to take myself off for an early bath and bed so I don't boredom munch.

Plan on weighing tomorrow so don't want to go choffing the content of the kitchen tonight.

Tomorrow is wine night 🍷or gin ( or both)

SuzyQ12 · 12/01/2023 18:07

Had a reasonably good day which I've rounded off with a twix as a reward. Should still be in deficit, just not quite as big a one as pre twix!

Also looking forward to wine day tomorrow 🍷

heartbeatacrossthegrass · 12/01/2023 18:42

Evening piggies. I had a bit of a blowout meal yesterday evening. Have been relatively good today to try and make up for it.

Breakfast was yoghurt with cherries, coconut and a tiny bit of maple syrup (my hand didn't even slip). Lunch was a halloumi and falafel wrap. Dinner sea bass, veg and two slices of bread and butter. Will have a Milky Way for pudding later.

No idea what the calorie count is which is quite liberating but I have been strict about not eating between meals.

Ugh, it's all quite boring though isn't it. I'm fantasising about a banana split for some reason, with whipped cream and a cherry on top

EyesOnThePies · 12/01/2023 19:04

Posh lunch out, work related. Would have been ok except for a truly massive hunk of sourdough bread with butter.

But had a skinny breakfast (small bowl of porridge with smugberries), no afternoon snack, and will now try and restrict dinner to the modest rations I would usually scrape by on for lunch.
(Oliver Twist heart wrench scene)

whatausername · 12/01/2023 19:30

Scrambled eggs & toast
Slice of almond & cherry stollen
Pork, veggies, rice & marsala sauce
Kiwi

Probably some toast or cereal later on as working late

Mañanarama · 12/01/2023 19:40

I’ve just had a scroll through the whole thread, can’t believe we’re on over 400 posts and have dozens of lazy pigs in the sty!

So glad I started this - I knew I needed likeminded people to motivate me with a sense of humour and tales of weakness, and you haven’t let me down!! Hooray! 🐷
