Ok, this starts on Monday, as I have a steak pie and mash and yorkies to eat tomorrow. Will also heroically finish the Christmas chocolate so it’s out of the house. Once that’s all achieved, I’m good to go.

I need and must lose at least one pound a week until April. That’s about a stone.

Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Wrong. I’m basically fucking lazy, I hate exercise, hate going out in bad weather and am a total gluttonous food guzzling pig. And probably peri menopausal. And I sit at a desk all day. And a million other pathetic excuses why I’ve not shifted this weight in 2022 like I said I would.

I can’t be the only one who’s got sod all willpower, so who’s up to being fully accountable to this thread?

Lazy pigs like me especially welcome. Weigh in Monday morning.

@vicaragechristmas hello fellow ADHDer! Mine comes with a side order of sensory issues so I have a small number of safe foods which makes everything harder.

Away from home last night with folks I've not seen for ages so dinner out and lots of wine. Off to buy supplies for today's meeting so shall include some grapes which will obviously offset all the biscuits. I shall also endeavour to eat five less biscuits than I would normally.

EyesOnThePies · 11/01/2023 09:02

Morning Oinksters,

After last night’s dinner out I am +100g on my Monday weight.

Will get back on track today and not weigh til next Wednesday I think. I would like to see something encouraging when I do!

V early appointment and then a busy over lunch time so I will have a wholesome mid morning something to cover both.

Good luck today everyone.

Inastatus · 11/01/2023 09:04

@heartbeatacrossthegrass - I’ll feedback. Well done - 2lb down already is brilliant!

vicaragechristmas · 11/01/2023 09:19

Morning Oinksters! I failed in my attempts to cycle rather than take the bus, but so far this morning I’ve only eaten my breakfast smoothie (which is as amazing as anticipated!). Definitely eating rather than drinking, as it seems to have settled overnight and is too thick to be chugged from the bottle 😆 so it is in my mug instead and I’m eating it with a spoon!

I have a selection of healthy and not so healthy food in my desk drawer, so we shall see how I do over the course of the day. However, I have noodles and leftover stir fry for my lunch today, so that’s exciting and also positively smug levels of healthy!

Catch up with you later, piggies x

Morning Piggies,

I've been toying with the idea of ordering Hello Fresh boxes as a way of getting some new recipes ( I can't be bothered to give new meal ideas too much thought at the moment).

Has anyone used them and are they good value? I do love to cook but sometimes get fed up deciding what to make, so look at these boxes but then think they're gimmicky and I can make similar without the box, talking myself out of buying them. However, my inner LP likes the idea right now of everything being delivered in one easy package.

thewayround · 11/01/2023 10:00

@Inchstonesbeatmilestones
if you would be mainly getting for new recipes, I wouldn’t bother.

just keep it super simple.
adapt your favourites ie you love fish and chips? Steamed fish and oven chips rather than from the chippy
go on bbc good food for ideas. Some delicious salads etc

Thank you, this is what I tend to do and the same thought loop I always go around 🙂. I think I need to be rich, have a chef / dietitian who says, here's what you're eating for those days when I don't want to think 🐷.

Think I'll just carry on as I am, Pinterest, goodle and PON. ( Plus the billions of recipe books I already own).

thewayround · 11/01/2023 10:10

Do you cook for yourself or have a family?

We’ve done Hello Fresh before but had issues with it not being that fresh and missing items (though they always give a credit if you complain). Just on our first Gousto box and impressed so far. Helps us for portion control (looks quite small but is always plenty) and reduces the nights we make unhealthy decisions (Mac and cheese or takeaway). Some good discount codes fit both at the moment.

Yes, have a family, one allergic to dairy and cook everything from scratch. Probably what's causing the meal decision fatigue 😬

thewayround · 11/01/2023 10:19

children? Presuming cooking them healthy meals? Not just smaller portions of whatever serving them?

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 11/01/2023 10:26

Two teens and a husband, all eat the same healthy meal. Like I mentioned, I love to cook, can cook but sometime get fed up planning meals all the time so looked at these boxes as a possible bit of reli f from the planning, but think I'll just carry on as I am. Have already decided I will cook double batches and freeze for my lazy days.

Thanks for the input everyone 🙂

Doesn’t sound like your a piggie then of eating healthy meals with your family!

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 11/01/2023 10:31

Haha, that's the problem, I eat the healthy meal and then get the evening boredom munchies. Just need to cut that out as good most of the day and turn into a LP in the evening.

Aghh I get the evening munchies too! I wonder if an evening smoothie might help with that (can you tell I’m obsessed with smoothies??)

One thing I find is that if I’m properly hydrated of an evening I am less likely to scoff stuff. I just need to remind myself of this!!

Wallowingwendy · 11/01/2023 12:06

I caved and had a burger king and a five guys as I've been working away and driving so service station food. Back on it today with soups

I caved and had two biscuits. They made me really happy after a bean salad lunch. Meh.

Hehe am also lazy pig but have to lose 4 stone by May.
Weigh in at 15st on Monday. No idea how that happened.

whatausername · 11/01/2023 15:44

Went to Post Office. Got rid of parcels and cards. Came home with Mini Eggs.

But it is a tiny snack tube, super small so I figure it's fine. Overall I still have eaten less than I usually would have by this point in the day

whatausername · 11/01/2023 15:45

Although it is 29% of my sugar RDA - my poor pancreas!

HamFrancisco · 11/01/2023 17:36

Afternoon, whopping heifers.

Lunch today was an entire packet of those biscuits that have chocolate on one side but are otherwise shaped like malted milks. The fancy ones.

So, I could have done better, but I was starvo as a meeting had overrun and the nearest shop didn't sell butties.

I'm due to run (aka wheeze my way round the block like an asthmatic slug) tomorrow. That will take a stone off, natch.

4 stone by May? I like the cut of your jib, @ReadtheReviews .
