Ok, this starts on Monday, as I have a steak pie and mash and yorkies to eat tomorrow. Will also heroically finish the Christmas chocolate so it’s out of the house. Once that’s all achieved, I’m good to go.

I need and must lose at least one pound a week until April. That’s about a stone.

Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Wrong. I’m basically fucking lazy, I hate exercise, hate going out in bad weather and am a total gluttonous food guzzling pig. And probably peri menopausal. And I sit at a desk all day. And a million other pathetic excuses why I’ve not shifted this weight in 2022 like I said I would.

I can’t be the only one who’s got sod all willpower, so who’s up to being fully accountable to this thread?

Lazy pigs like me especially welcome. Weigh in Monday morning.

I really need to join you all.

I was meant to start my diet in 1st jan but it's now 10th and zero progress made.

I need to lose a minimum of 3 stone, but for now I'd be happy with any loss. Went through menopause 9 years ago after a hysterectomy and take hrt. Since then weight takes forever and ever to lose.

Budget is limited so I can't afford to buy any extra foods but will try and control portion sizes and make better choices instead. Have already cut down on take aways.

Exercise is another thing I keep meaning to start and haven't. I have a hula hoop so will use that and also try some weights routines.
In the next 6 mths I'll be lucky enough to have access to a small gym that my brother is building in the garage. It would be nice to have already lost some weight by then.

My biggest problems are that I am very very lazy, eat when I'm bored and severely lack motivation to do anything other than sit. Plus I sit all day cos I work an office job.

I have a holiday booked at end of June and would be ecstatic to have even lost a stone by then.

Current weight is 85kg and I'm 5'2.

Gonna go read through the thread now to see how the rest of you are doing Smile

Panetonne: I have that difficulty with scales too. And I know it is the scales not me because they recently recoded wildly different weights 5 mins apart when I had done nothing but breathe in between. New batteries help, and I do now put the scales in the exact same position, and try to weight when the room temperature is stable too.

EyesOnThePies · 10/01/2023 14:16

Nutty You can do a stone by your holiday, and a stone will make a big difference in how you feel.

What's your plan? Adjusting to healthy eating and cutting takeaways sounds good, along with portion control.

Healthy eating doesn't have to be expensive. Or unenjoyable. I think most of us succeed best when we don't make weight loss miserable

Good luck!

EyesOnThePies · 10/01/2023 14:21

How are we doing today, Oinksters?

I am on track so far -
Breakfast - 2 dessert spoons of granola, 1 of Greek Yog, frozen blueberries and cherries.
Lunch - made a big pan of spicy carrot and lentil soup for today and tomorrow and a couple of portions in the freezer. Had a bowl. with 2 crisp breads and some cottage cheese.

Now starving but ignoring it.

Am out for dinner tonight. Plan to enjoy it but not go overboard on the extras.

TheOriginalNutty · 10/01/2023 14:22

@EyesOnThePies thanks for the encouragement Smile

My plan is to calorie count as that's the only thing that ever seems to work when I stick to it.

Other than that I just really need to move more. If sitting were a sport I'd have won sports woman of the year since it began.

My brother kindly bought me a cast iron kettle bell for my birthday last June. It's currently being used to prop the dog gate open lol.
I definitely need to build my core strength up as I'm so weak. Hopefully the hula hooping will help with that.

StephanieSuperpowers · 10/01/2023 14:33

I'm doing OK. After a BIG Sunday blowout and a chastening Monday weigh in as a result, today I'm down an illusory kilo. Fine. But it was only food from Sunday, I'm pretty sure of that. However, I did OK yesterday and so far, OK today.

I've eaten two of those old el paso stand and stuff taco boats with scrambled eggs (2 eggs) in them and a little cheese, baked in the oven with some salt and pepper. Quite nice, quite filling.

Planning salmon and veg for dinner. Possibly a few olives afterwards.

Good old planning.

vicaragechristmas · 10/01/2023 14:34

Well, so far calorie counting has not gone so well, but on the plus side I’ve been out in the garden turning over the veg bed and clearing out the greenhouse ready for this year's crops, so that was some good exercise!

Roast duck for dinner tonight so that will bugger up my chances of sticking to my calorie limit but at least I haven’t sat on my piggy behind all day!

Ps love Oinksters, I’m taking that one on!

StampOnTheGround · 10/01/2023 15:15

I decided to eat a whole tube of smarties yesterday and had a large glass of wine, decided to move my fat ass a bit though so ended up a lb down, this works for me 😂

SuzyQ12 · 10/01/2023 17:03

1600 calories in and 2100 burned today, according to my Fitbit, so feeling quite pleased with that. Might even be wiggle room for a bourbon biscuit if I take the dog out for a walk this evening.

Mañanarama · 10/01/2023 17:53

I’ve just had pizza for tea, just over half of one (and they’re smaller than they used to be and I didn’t eat the crusts) now just trying to keep my sweet tooth in check but may crack open the Lindt santas later…

Ohhh it was all going so well! All those steps first thing, healthy porridge for breakfast, only had a small portion of naughty lunch at work & then got home & hubby has laid new floor tiles in front of the cooker that can't be stood on for 8 hours & bought me a bottle of wine to treat me for putting up for the DIY mess!!!!! Pizza & wine for tea it is then - gutted & not gutted all at the same time.
Guess I'm going to have to just enjoy it & get back on the wagon with a vengeance tomorrow.

vicaragechristmas · 10/01/2023 19:41

That’s it, @Ebananascroogey, you may slip up but you start afresh every day. At least that’s what I tell myself 😆

I’ve had way more calories than I should have but tomorrow is another day, and if my arms don’t ache too much from digging over the veg patch, I shall cycle into work.

Ebananascroogey · 10/01/2023 19:58

@vicaragechristmas thank you for the encouragement!

I'm very pleased that I managed to stop eating as soon as I was full & instead of rubbing my hands with glee at the thought of a leftover pizza breakfast I've wrapped & frozen the leftovers for the next time we want a treat so saving money & calories.
I'm telling myself that the little things like that will add up & have an impact eventually 🤞

Inastatus · 10/01/2023 11:09

@muddlingthrou - happy birthday. Enjoy every minute of your gathering, do not let a bit of extra weight stop you! Most of us have put on a few extra pounds over Xmas and real friends shouldn’t be judging you that way in any case! If you need a confidence boost how about getting some Spanx? Otherwise just put on your best smile and have a great time - dancing burns calories.

@Inastatus thank you for the kind words 😊 I do think we need to appreciate our bodies and all they've done for us. And know when to cut loose and enjoy ourselves! I'm going to have a proper uninhibited dance on my birthday. I don't think my friends will be judging me, you're right.

MKDmumofflash · 10/01/2023 21:17

Oh god I've just got on the scales. This is after eating all my feelings in Gregs this afternoon. How the hell do I shift this?

Is anyone else clutching at straws and eyeing up thyroid tests/blood sugar tests/ozempic in a desperate way to pass the buck?

Noooo, never weigh yourself after a day of eating. It includes the burden of your day as well as actual body weight!

Is there any chance the burden of my day can account for 10 stone? 🤔

On a bad day, not far off. Don’t be hard on yourself, I defo didn’t start the thread for diligent dieting or beige food shaming!

Oh please don't worry, I've taken my scales shame and hit it head on with a Gu Salted Caramel pudding and squirty cream 😂😂😂

I find with ADHD that pretty much every plan goes wonky after a week or two, so I’m hoping the Oinksters will be some sort of accountability for me!

Anyway, part of living with ADHD is anticipating disorganisation, so I’m trying my hardest to get into the habit of preparing my lunch and my breakfast smoothie the night before, and I’m proud to say I've stuck to that for a whole week now! My Christmas present of a smoothie blender with bottle attachments has really helped! The only problem I have is trying not to drink the whole thing immediately after I’ve made it 😆 I made my sister crease up the other day when I texted to say I’d had half my breakfast the evening before 😆

I ordered frozen blueberries this week and asded them to tomorrow's smoothie with pear, oats, pear juice, oat milk and yoghurt, with a dash of maple syrup. Lor lummee it is fantastic! I am excited for tomorrow now 😄😄

EyesOnThePies · 10/01/2023 23:00

Noooooo, definitely weigh first thing in the morning. After a wee and before you eat or drink anything!

Basically our bodies are overnight fat burning machines! Metabolising away while we dream and turning all our fat and fuel to warmth and water. We just breathe it out!

Obviously not enough for the dedicated daytime trough dweller, but a fair bit of our daily calorie use!

So…today I am pleased that although I went out for dinner as planned, and very nice it was too, I ate healthily at breakfast and lunch, and at dinner only had one drink and no dessert. And didn’t feel deprived, just didn’t want it.

EyesOnThePies · 10/01/2023 23:03

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 10/01/2023 23:47

@Mañanarama These are the ones I can vaguely remember. I'm pretty sure one of them was grapes washed and then sprinkled with sugar free jelly crystals and frozen in the freezer. They're pretty nice.

SlimmingWorld haribos: make up a packet of sugar free jelly in choice of flavour. Pour half into one jug and half into another jug. In one half mix in a muller light yogurt. I used strawberry jelly and strawberry yoghurt. Pour into a container or ice cube tray and put in fridge and allow to set enough to pour the part of the jelly on top. Leave to set and cut into cubes. Obviously no where near as nice as the real thing but they're still pretty good.

SlimmingWorld cheesecake. Low fat digestive biscuits crushed and mixed with butter. Mix jelly and mullerlight yogurt together and pour on top.

There's a recipe somewhere for SlimmingWorld crème brûlée. I tried it at taster and liked it but I've never made it myself

Also a recipe for slimming world baileys. I've never tried it so I'm not sure how it would taste.

Definitely do not recommend the SlimmingWorld chocolate brownie. It tastes fuck all like a brownie

SlimmingWorld cheese scones. Cottage cheese, an egg and smash. Mix together shape and then cook in the oven. Can also add in bacon, chives etc

SlimmingWorld quiche. I just did bacon mushroom And onion in mine. Then mixed together either cottage cheese or quark with a couple of eggs and poured it over the top sprinkled with cheese and baked for about 25-30 mins till set. I used to have a slice on a night time with either a mug of homemade soup or some pickles. You can also line a muffin tin with weight watchers wraps and put the filling inside If you want to. Sort of feels like a proper quiche then.

Overnight oats. Mix 40g of oats with fat free yogurt. Some people use muller lights I use Skyr plain fat free yogurt in mine. Top with frozen fruit of choice and leave in the fridge overnight. The following morning once the fruit is defrosted all the juices run through and you just mix it all together. It's not like porridge. I can't stand the stuff but I like this. One topping I do is a few drops of almond essence and frozen cherries so it's tastes like Cherry Bakewell. Some people do grated carrot and mixed spice for a carrot cake flavoured one. Not tried that one yet.

That's all I can remember for now but if I think of anything else I'll post again later

Inastatus · 11/01/2023 08:41

Morning piggies. Still haven’t weighed in - the batteries for my scales still haven’t made it from the kitchen drawer to the bathroom 🤪 However, I have been quite good so far this week - eating healthily, more fruit, no snacking and no wine! Going to the cinema with DD later to see the Whitney Houston film so must resist buying huge bucket of popcorn. If I can’t resist then plan B for the foreseeable is this

Ooh I want to see that @Inastatus hope it's good.

Two days in I've lost 2lbs so feeling pretty good. Let's see how today goes.

I've had a cheese omelette and fruit juice for breakfast. Lunch will probably be boring soup and oatcakes yet a-bloody-gain. I'm out for Thai tonight so not sure I'll be able to resist the lure of the prawn toast ...
