Friday weigh in club!

Anyone fancy joining me in weighing every Friday and posting our progress? I will also post what exercise I have managed that week.
I need somewhere to be accountable! Ideas for meals would be good to share as we go along too.
I have around a stone to lose and am aiming for 1lb a week loss. I will be loosely calorie counting.

I was just going to aim for a calorie deficit so say aprox 1200 cals a day. Just trying to be healthier eating and not meal skipping because I totally binge when I'm too hungry. Hoping to exercise everyday at home (walking workout vids on YouTube), but if there are any recommendations out there, I would be very happy to hear them.

That's similar to what I'm doing/dine in the past, although I'm not getting as much success this time round! Sun & Mon I come in at 1200 and weds-thurs <1000. Fri & Sat I eat naughty but only one meal a day.im very active via my job and I generally walk 5 miles a day o top of that with the dog. Yet 😭, only lost 2lbs thus month!

choc27 · 17/02/2023 21:51

@weightstrugglinmum will you track your calories? I recommend MFP if you aren't already using it.

Sorry you aren't happy @FlutterbButterfly ☹️ did you say you are taking measurements? I'm sure something is happening even if it's not showing on the scales.

Braved the scales and the pizza wine pig out has not done too much damage and I lost what I gained on work trip. Still have the next week of holiday to contend with. Its a hard balance isn't it? Treating yourself, but not setting the spiral of bad choices again.

10.4 lbs down since 1st Jan. That's half way to goal.

Amdone123 · 18/02/2023 08:33

@CottonSock , that's really good. Well done. Yes, it's a hard balance !

Whats MFP? Do you have to be really accurate and know all the calorie content of things you're eating?

weightstrugglinmum · 18/02/2023 13:42

I'm definitely noticing as I'm getting older its harder to shift the weight. Plus I'm bottom on the list in terms of everything that needs to get done, so prioritising time for exercising and making sure I eat right, needs to be really important.

choc27 · 18/02/2023 15:39

My fitness pal. It's an app. You do need to weigh all your food yes but you can scan the bar codes on packets. It really opens your eyes to how many calories are in things!

I'm not, although I know I should! I put on weight as soon as I stopped getting on the scales they kept me in check. I'm in for a shock when I hit that measuring tape out, I was 25"..... I'm aiming to hey in my beautiful Levis end of summer!

What are you basing 1200 on? It's not a magic number..... It's too low for a lot of people

weightstrugglinmum · 18/02/2023 17:52

Just plucked that calorific intake out of thin air, is 1400-1500 better?

choc27 · 18/02/2023 18:55

Use an online calculator to work out your calories so you are at a reasonable Deficit. Try www.calculator.net it will tell you your calories to maintain your weight and to lose weight.

OK that link isn't right, hold on...

Of you go through the link, go to the 3 little lines top right, then fitness and health then calorie calculator. There are others if you Google.

I'm 5ft 9 and have a stone to lose. I maintained on around 1400 cals per day , I only lose once i go sub 1200. No calculator tells me this its just fact for me! I'm active too, not a gym goer but my job is within the sports industry (customer facing) and I regularly walk 5 -7 miles a day I top with the dog 🤷🏼‍♀️

weightstrugglinmum · 19/02/2023 12:49

Thank you all, I will look at that online calculator but I suspect will try to aim for 1200 ish a day and see how that is. I probably have about 2 stone to loose really, and when my new batteries arrive for my weighing scales (expecting Tuesday), I'm going to have a real horrible shock, but I hope that helps motivate me, as I'm not going to fit into any of my summer clothes for the second summer running at this rate, and I'm fed up of feeling so rubbish about myself!

weightstrugglinmum · 19/02/2023 12:50

I think I also have to be alot more honest about the calories in stuff, so to be able to properly track those, will be interesting!

CottonSock · 20/02/2023 08:53

You might not get 1200 every day, but the more days you do the more success you have. It is doable without being hungry though I was surprised.

catsandkid · 20/02/2023 09:46

Sorry, been MIA for a week or so. We went away last Friday on holiday for the weekend, and then I've had all of half-term off as annual leave. Have been off-plan totally for those 10 days (lots of meals out, few take-aways, choccy treats!) and didn't manage to workout either as been so busy and just enjoying myself (did a LOT of walking though and typically managed 10k-15k steps each day).

Weighed 132.8lbs Fri 10th Feb
Weight today 134.0lbs

So I'm up about 1-1.5lbs which I expected.

Back to work today and on plan again! Started the day with 30mins workout and feeling good!

choc27 · 20/02/2023 19:24

Wondered where you had got to @catsandkid !
That was too bad damage really, well done for getting back on plan!

I stupidly weighed this morning and was back up 1lb from Friday. I can't believe I have actually put that on though. I was OK over the weekend. Then I wondered if my scales were dodgy because I was so surprised at losing that 1lb on Friday. Maybe I never actually did and it was the scales being messed up 😡

OP posts:
choc27 · 20/02/2023 19:24

Should have said wasn't too bad damage!

OP posts:
weightstrugglinmum · 20/02/2023 23:15

Well it's been a pretty poor first day, think starting on the first day of a busy half term break might not have been the best idea. New batteries are in the weighing scales so will see full extent of the damage tomorrow morning, and I hope that gives me the serious motivation that I need. Just wish I didn't love food so much......

FlutterbButterfly · 21/02/2023 13:44

Just back from a brisk 6 mile dog walk, protein shake and 2 cuppas consumed so far. I'm going to do some air-fryer 'boiled' eggs to make an egg salad for later. I should come in just under 1000 cals today which I know is low but imbalances out my weekend habits.

I'm going to continue with my plan for a bit longer but if I don't see any progress soon I'll have to re-think. Was foolproof last time round! I've also got new batteries for my scales so who onows what they will state this week 🤔

Good luck everyone, enjoy your day.

IHeartGeneHunt · 21/02/2023 18:10

Well today I've done 1530 calories, got my period so I'm not weighing myself till that's gone, so I think I'm still 16.7 but hoping for 16.5!

choc27 · 21/02/2023 19:38

I've done 1500 calories which was 100 over target but have been to the gym so hoping that is ok!

How is everyone else doing midweek?
