I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

My problem is snacking whilst cooking the evening meal. I think I might have some porridge and fruit when I get home from work to try and curb it.

Haveagentlechristmas · 01/01/2023 16:13

Have gone for a tofu Curry with loads of veg for lunch. Will need to think about what I can have for dinner!
Also going to get to lidl and aldi soon for a top up. I need some sweet tooth hacks to replace biscuits etc. I'm thinking bananas or sugar free sweets.

EddietheEagle · 01/01/2023 16:17

@Syrax

I love orange juice too, it's ok to still have it of course, but if I'm trying to cut calories I leave it out. As a rule I never waste calories on drinks as they don't fill me up.

Today has gone well. I’ve tracked my calories in the nhs app. I’ve been on a 3 mile walk. Have drank only water. Feeling good for it!

Count me in. Last time I weighed (about two weeks ago) I was 13st 6, which for my height 5ft 6, makes me look like a roly poly dough person.
I would love to lose 3 stone by the end of the year, but even losing less than that and sorting the health problems that come from carrying so much weight would be a start.

Walked 10k steps today and this is my last day of eating rubbish as haven’t had time to meal plan over new year. Going to go back to intermittent fasting which did me the world of good in 2021, and see where I end up!

Lets do this ⭐️

You are virtually my height and weight twin. And my normal weight for most of adult life was 10-11 which looks good on me. I really need to shift it as despite caring less about how I look with age, I have started to feel really uncomfortable with it now.

mothertrucking · 01/01/2023 17:08

I've just joined the gym, now just need to get myself some trainers so I can go!
I'm going to aim to go x2 a week after work and once on a weekend.

Wagsandclaws · 01/01/2023 17:09

Well done everyone that's a fantastic start for you all.

I've had about 10 coffees and teas - for dinner I'm having scrambled egg with a slice of nature cheese and salt and pepper.

Dessert will be a couple of pink lady apples - I need to go shopping tomorrow and get the lower carb stuff in as we still have lots left over from Christmas and I'm abiding the kitchen as much as possible 😬.

I haven't weighed myself as I don't think I can face it. I'm somewhere between 14.7 and 14.10.

This time last year I was 12.2 and that was my happy spot. After being 18.5 stone I was really happy at that size (16 ) I probably could have lost another 2 stone really but I was happy. I think my bmi was 27 at the time and I'm 5.5

Ok well That's nearly one day down. I have chronic insomnia due to the menopause and sometimes would snack late at night on crap, it's going to be that bit that's hard.

I was up till 4am today, reading and stuff. Not enough sleep is taking it's toll but I just can't get to sleep. Fingers crossed I get through tonight!

Good luck ladies for the rest of today and tomorrow 🤞😊

this could be a good habit if you make the snacks healthy! I find I'm less likely to overeat at dinner if I have regular healthy snacks during the day. I'm cooking stir fry right now and just ate a slice of raw yellow pepper, half a celery stick and a spoonful of peanut butter

Threeboysandadog · 01/01/2023 17:50

18st 2lb the heaviest and most miserable I have ever been.

Porridge for brunch and about to make a prawn salad.

AliceChambers · 01/01/2023 17:52

I'm in.
Been trying to lose weight all year and finally dropped 7lb when I got Covid recently.
I don't want to put it back on so I'm calorie counting with Nutracheck. Weighed in today at 175.4 lbs and first goal is 164lbs.
I'm ok with maintaining for a bit until I'm well enough to return to regular exercise (dance and walking).
Good luck everyone!

Iamclearlyamug · 01/01/2023 17:55

Me. I lost 16lb before Xmas and I've regained half of it just over the holiday period 🤦‍♀️😫

lorisparkle · 01/01/2023 17:56

@comeon2023 I wish I had the will power for healthy snacks. I find it is carbs I crave in the early evening. I will try and train myself into healthy snacks though!

lorisparkle · 01/01/2023 18:01

@Wagsandclaws I read that not getting enough sleep has a huge impact on your weight. Menopause seems to have so many things that work against losing weight!

Wagsandclaws · 01/01/2023 18:02

@lorisparkle I read that too Xmas Sad.

That's my danger time when I think oh well I just stay here at this weight and eat crap etc.

I was so much happier and confident at 12 stone so I'll just keep going till Easter and hopefully my summer wardrobe will fit again Smile

LostaraYil · 01/01/2023 18:21

I need this as well, I was happy with my weight last summer but have gradually let my appetite get out of control with lots of excess over Christmas. I haven't weighed yet today, but I think I'm around 10 1/2 stone and would like to lose around a stone. The plan is fewer carbs and some HIIT workouts and weights.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 01/01/2023 18:43

Evening all,

I've had a family NYD meal and tracked the lot, inc the dessert - all came in under the days kcals.

I've had two days on track now and the bloat is starting to go down. Feels good.

Hello to all our new joiners, and good luck!

anonexhausted · 01/01/2023 18:54

So far so good, we'll within calories including a couple of mini hamburgers to see in the New Year Day supper with the kids (replaced the bread with lettuce leaves which was surprisingly delicious). Have even drunk water as well as coffee today. Going to have a bath and book to avoid nighttime snack attacks!

KathyBurke · 01/01/2023 18:59

Well done @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa , it sounds like you are doing really well. It's surprising how quickly the bloat goes down and it is really encouraging. Keep going.

wizzler · 01/01/2023 19:27

First few days are really hard. I find once I can see the scales start to move in the right direction I am more motivated. Have only snacked on fruit today.
Let's keep going and for those like me disappointed with what they weigh, I am convincing myself that I will never weigh that much again

KathyBurke · 01/01/2023 19:48

I've been really upset all day after weighing myself this morning. It has shocked me to be honest. I have been good with my eating today so hopefully I can keep it up.

I got even more upset when I tried a top on that I ordered and I looked so fat in it plus it was too small so I'm sending it back. It has motivated me though to do something about it.

Have done an online food shop to be delivered in the morning and I've ordered loads of veg and no sweet stuff at all.

Mumski45 · 01/01/2023 20:02

I will join you. I think I have about a stone I want to lose but for me it's more about getting back into my clothes. I stopped exercising about a month ago when my Dad passed away, then with one thing and another I haven't been able to start again properly. I already had plenty to lose at that point so Xmas with no exercise has made it worse.

Today has been a good day with about 16500 steps walked and roughly 1200 calories.

My aim is to get back to cycling about 100m a week and sticking to between 1200-1500 calories and day. This has worked for me in the past and fingers crossed will work again this time.

I am too annoyed with myself to get on the scales at the moment so will wait a week or 2 before I do so that I know I am going in the right direction.

KathyBurke · 01/01/2023 20:21

Hi @Mumski45 so sorry to hear about your Dad x

@comeon2023 I wish I had the will power for healthy snacks. I find it is carbs I crave in the early evening. I will try and train myself into healthy snacks though!

I hear you!! It's hard work. I'm trying a low(ish) carb diet for the first time after decades of using carbs & sugar as my #1 source of comfort and energy. I've found swapping the carbs & sugar for protein & fat really helps even though it'll probably make my weight loss a bit slower. Apple & peanut butter is a good one cos you're getting some fat and sugar to make your brain feel happy but it's still healthier than crisps biscuits chocs etc. Or another one of my favourite snacks is a slice of cheese with a slice of ham wrapped around it 😅 it looks silly but it's tasty, satisfying & low carb!

Bluevases · 01/01/2023 20:52

Weighed in 😱. Managed to stick under 800 cals today and did 16k steps. It's a start...

lorisparkle · 01/01/2023 21:03

@Bluevases sounds like a fabulous start

@comeon2023 apple and peanut butter sounds delicious- I will give it a go

@Mumski45 so sorry to hear about your dad.
