1st January start, anyone up for it?

I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

It's still bread, still 100 calories per slice. I don't see the point. I've had them though.

JoyPeaceHealth · 11/01/2023 18:08

@Eggsley the brussel sprouts have made my stomach churn and gurgle, but still no ........change. @PeppermintChoc is right!

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 11/01/2023 21:28

@JoyPeaceHealth @Eggsley things have all been very efficient for me, perhaps because of the amount of veg I'm eating.

Today, for the first time, I ate impulsively rather than mindfully. I bought a fresh loaf of bread, sliced some for DS as soon as we got home and then had a chunk of crust myself. In terms of calories, it was fine as, having done a 2hr walk today, 30 mins on the cross trainer and 30 day shred, I can afford to go over on the calories. In terms of trying to make sensible decisions, only eat when genuinely hungry and so forth, it was a bit of a let down. I did, however, manage to stop straight after that rather than use it as a gateway for the rest of the loaf.

Otherwise, another good day. I made a new recipe from the Pinch of Nom cook book and it was delicious.

Plusses this week.
I discovered kojac skinny low carb noodles.
Did 2 weightlifting workouts

However weight is sticking a bit and I have eaten 5 dairy milk chocolates tonight!

@2023istheyearigetmyacttogether congrats on staying strong with the bread! I think one of the hardest things for me is losing the mentality that if I’ve missed my target for the day I may as well just blow it completely. Which is obviously counterproductive!

63.4kg this morning and yesterday. Decided to weigh a bit more often even though it means dealing with the dreaded fluctuations

PeppermintChoc · 12/01/2023 10:39

@2023istheyearigetmyacttogether don’t demonise a little luxury! That’s all about balance.

How is everyone getting on? I had a mindless sofa binge when the DC went to bed. I was just exhausted and it felt like such a hard day! I’ve forgiven myself - today is a new day!

Finding this thread helpful so checking back in.

PeppermintChoc · 12/01/2023 10:41

Absolutely! I am the same. Last night I went 200 cals over with a mince pie that had a short date. So thought sod it and probably ate a zillion calories!

Kaylisa · 12/01/2023 12:49

I’ve been great at sticking to my calories and feel good for it.
the scales went down a massive 10lb in the first week but have stayed the same so far this week which is fine (although who wouldn’t love 10lb a week?!) I am still weighing daily and still mostly eating between 10am-6pm.
I haven’t stuck to walking 2 miles a day as I don’t walk in the rain 😂 but I have been on walks as I have dogs.
all in all, going well!

10lb is fantastic!

I have managed to stick to the walking too. Just building up to go out on my lunchbreak
now. The joys of working from home.

A 10lb loss. That's amazing! What a massive kick start that is for you. Whilst I love it when the scales do a bigger than expected drop, I always have to remind myself not to get disheartened if I then plateau for a big. Weight loss is not linear, at least not for me.

Thanks for the encouragement. I, too, and finding this thread really helpful as you might guess from the number of times I post!. As you all rightly pointed out, a little indulgence is normal - and sometimes needed.

I think I'm about to get my period. I'm completely irregular so don't know but I'm feeling really drained and scatty which are normally signs. I have the ingredients in for carbonara after someone suggested it last week and did some research so also have dates, hummus and loads of green, leafy veg. I also have a giant bar of Dairy Meal in case I need to resort to tried & tested solutions! I can also see myself not doing any exercise tonight. A downside to being completely irregular is that it could just be that I'm having a rubbish day, end up eating the chocolate & doing no exercise only to not get my period and then repeat the whole process again a few days later!

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 12/01/2023 18:02

@PeppermintChoc I hope it was dry for your walk. I'm like @Kaylisa and very much a fair weather walker. It's been pouring all day here. And I forgot to wear my Fitbit to work and it always feels as if steps don't count it they're not recorded!

JoyPeaceHealth · 12/01/2023 18:18

I also used to have that mentality that if I didn't manage to meet all my rules that I might as well down tools and give in and eat cake the next day.

It's hard. I have been too obsessive in the past. I follow the rules like a computer programmer for 6 months then I fail, a bit, and sit around eating cake for another six months until I get my act together again.

JoyPeaceHealth · 12/01/2023 18:23

10lbs in a week is great!

Mumstheword2022 · 12/01/2023 20:59

Hey !

well done will that are losing but also those who are clearly trying so hard.

returned to the gym today - would have been sooner but work is mental. I came out buzzing!

I know now that I have key this slip for about a month and can see how the half a stone since the beginning of December might have found it harder to attach to my arse, tummy and face!

will try so hard to up my classes from two to three a week 🏋️‍♀️

wizzler · 12/01/2023 21:19

Had a bag of crisps today. Feel like I've let you all down !

HollyTheHarrier · 12/01/2023 22:17

@wizzler One bag of crisps won’t undo all your good work 😊

I made a big pot of dhal at the weekend which has been great for quick low calorie meals but I have basically had to eat it every night and I am really bored of it now. This weekend I need to make something I can freeze more easily I think!

Sjanish33 · 13/01/2023 00:19

@Kaylisa 10lb loss is wow! Hope everyone is good today was my first official weigh in day of the year and I am happy to see a loss of 2.2kg! (4.8lb)

SW 96.5.
CW 94.3. Week 1

That is week one behind me (though I haven't had any alcohol since the 2nd and I think that is also helping) I am calorie counting using nutracheck at 1400 calories a day but going under that between 1250 and 1350 most days.
I am finding it ok and not hungry or deprived but I have a steely resolve after seeing that start weight - I am on a journey to lose 5 stone, so it is very early days

Kaylisa · 13/01/2023 06:51

Thanks everyone…I was very shocked as I’ve only seen that before for me when I’ve done something like Cambridge diet or exante so the fact I’ve been on 1700 calories and it still went down was great. Made me think about what/how much I was eating before!

I do have a considerable amount to lose so I know that factors in and also the fact it’s basically static this week, so it has slowed right down. This is where I need to try and remember constantly what I want and why I’m doing it.
my step daughter (18) asked to go to McDonald’s when we were on the way home yesterday and I’d eaten all my calories so I took her to the drive through and just had a Coke Zero. That took a lot of will power 😂

keep going everyone!

HollyTheHarrier · 13/01/2023 07:09

Well done @Sjanish33 and @Kaylisa !

63.2kg for me this morning so 0.2kg lower. That could easily be just dehydration so won’t read much into it. I didn’t eat that well yesterday (too much chocolate) although stayed within calories because of a big run. Today is a rest day so no exercise to save me and I’m out for cocktails tonight so will definitely be going over but my aim is to log everything anyway and limit the damage.

scaredysquiggle · 13/01/2023 09:58

I just wanted to thank @HimiJendrix for starting so many of us off on our journey and hope you're doing well

PeppermintChoc · 13/01/2023 10:00

I’ve had a rubbish week! But I am not giving up. Need to shift 10lb before the spring!

JoyPeaceHealth · 13/01/2023 12:31

oh me too, but 20 pounds! I'm going to spain to visit school friends in spring so that will keep me on track.

it is 48 hours since i boiled up 150 grams of brussel sprouts............. and they have not had the desired effect. Yet. I'm having faith though so I just took out another 100 grams of brussel sprouts to boil up. I will not be in this situation next week.

I have been eating red peppers, onions, courgettes, leeks mushrooms all sautéed with either tuna/chicken and I have not been hungry. Also had salads from the shop (sweet potato, kidney bean and bulgar wheat) been having eggs, cheese, tomatoes. Lots of that plain soya no added sugars yogurt. drinking lots of water.

I'm actually very confused as I feel like i've been eating really healthily. Oh well, trust in the process.

JoyPeaceHealth · 14/01/2023 10:03

Slow progress for me here, but down 0.4 of a kilo from yesterday but I've been up and down like a yoyo in this kilo for a week. On the 8th Jan, I was 68.03. I won't feel I've made progress until the whole number goes down. Still, I am eating healthily, loads of veg. I think next week I'll see a big drop. I remember from previous attempts, it went like this, noticeable loss in the first ten days, stall for ten days, then another noticeable loss. So not disheartened yet.

TheWayItAllWouldGo · 14/01/2023 13:41

A 2lbs loss me for this week, taking me to 7lbs. 7lbs was my goal for the whole of January and I've hit it in 2 weeks, I'll take that 🥳

JoyPeaceHealth · 14/01/2023 14:22

Impressive!
