I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

Lost only half a pound but at least I'm going in the right direction ( and I ate a lot yesterday!!)
Now I've stopped snacking between meals I'm going to look at portion size and healthy choices
Well done to all you losers Smile

Start: 86kg
week 1: 84.9kg
loss: 1.1kg (just under 2.5lb)

my problem is snacking in the evenings, especially as there are still biscuits and chocolates around post Christmas.
I need to do something with my hands in the evenings to stop eating out if boredom/laziness.
I’m going to try picking up my writing again or get back into some crochet.

What do other people do in the evening?

Snacking in the evening is a big one for me too but I've managed to cut down in the last 2 weeks. When I get the urge to snack I'm trying to sit for a minute and ask myself why I want to, am I actually hungry? Do I have loads of chores to do and need an energy boost? Am I feeling sad? Am I feeling overwhelmed by work & motherhood and like I haven't had a single minute to myself all day and thats why now the DC are finally asleep I want 3 bowls of cornflakes??

Trying to replace sugar binges with a healthy snack or some other nice activity like a long shower or an easy yoga video

Though tbh the most effective thing for me is just going to bed ridiculously early 😅 if I put myself to bed at 9pm with a hot water bottle and a good book or netflix on the laptop I can't be bothered to go back down to the cold kitchen looking for snacks! Then I'm often asleep before 10.30 which makes getting woken up before 6am by the toddler a bit more bearable, and I'm less tired the next day so less likely to crave sugar

11st 7.5lbs here so 4lbs off for me. That's half of the December weight gain gone! I'd like the rest gone by 20th Jan as have a couple of events that weekend and need to be able to fit into a few more clothes by then!
Well done to the other losers and to those who have stayed the same or gone up a bit but are sticking with it.

Really pleased the number is still going down. I'm expecting a bit of a stall soon, trying to prepare myself. I'm off work atm so I can take care of myself v well, going back to work on the 16th and I'm scared it'll be harder. I will resist all the biscuits and sweets but I mean at lunch time, I feel like it's harder to transport the kind of food I've been eating. I need proper plastic tubs with lids. OK, that's my mission.

AliceChambers · 09/01/2023 18:13

172.8 yesterday so 2.6 lbs lost in the first week. That's more than expected but my appetite is still very low post-Covid. I need to manage the transitional period now when I'm more active, eating more but haven't yet returned to exercise. Don't want to put it all back on!

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 09/01/2023 19:16

@JoyPeaceHealth - I went to the giant supermarket near us to stock up on containers for healthy lunches. I also burrowed to the back of a cupboard and dug out a wide necked thermos so I can take home made soup.
Our canteen is hugely subsidised and the food is good so it's unusual for someone not to go for lunch. I've gone pretty much every day since I've worked there. There are healthy options but it's all too tempting to be swayed once you're there and smell a lasagne or something. I was worried that I'd get comments from colleagues about not going but I told one of the chattier ones that I'm going to give it a miss for a few weeks and I think she spread the word! One colleague did call me over today but I just said something about having a healthier few weeks and his reply was along the lines of a lot of people feeling like that and well done for actually putting it into action. I'd built it up to such a thing in my head and it was absolutely fine!

JoyPeaceHealth · 09/01/2023 20:42

@2023istheyearigetmyacttogether thanks for that! I'd be the same, I could have a salad prepared but the smell of lasagne would be hard to resist.

I just ordered some pots with lids from amazon. I like to mix plain greek yoghurt with a diet yoghurt as it fills you up and as a bit of taste. I might make some ''egg bites'' with cheese and tomato so I'll need containers for that too.

I don't think my colleagues really care but I feel a bit self-conscious. A canteen would be nice! I'm kind of jealous but I know at the same time, the last place I worked that had a good canteen, I ended up having chips with may everyday! and I was thin then! Now, it'd ruin me. So, Bon Courage staying out of the canteen for a few weeks. I think when you know you've made progress it's easier to pop in for a tea.

JoyPeaceHealth · 09/01/2023 20:47

@2023istheyearigetmyacttogether Oh I'd be the same, I would have a salad prepared, then smell lasagne and feel defenceless to resist. I have my pots with lids ordered now. Amazon prime are pretty quick. Planning salads, egg bites, various plain yogurt and raspberry combinations. It is more work but I will do it! It's not visible yet but I've lost about 4 kilos since St Stephen's Day so soon it will feel crazy to go back. I'm also self-conscious but realistically even if somebody says ''are you on a diet?'' I think I'd just admit it, so I'll cope!

JoyPeaceHealth · 09/01/2023 21:40

Mumsnet playing up making me look like a CRAZY person. It said error when I pressed post.

Eggsley · 10/01/2023 13:40

12st 12.2lbs yesterday, 12st 11.2lbs this morning, so still going in the right direction.

Had porridge yesterday, then two sandwich thins with corned beef and a cup a soup. Also had 5 peanut butter santas and a quality street orange creme. Chilli for dinner with cauliflower rice and a plate of fruit with a bit of cheese in the evening.

Today I've had porridge for breakfast and got cup a soup and two sandwich thins for lunch. Not sure what's for dinner yet.

Have been for a walk both lunchtimes as well. Need to work on getting to bed earlier so I'm less tired! Definitely feeling better for eating less junk. Trying to remember to drink more water too!

MonicaBingaling · 10/01/2023 16:05

Hey, hoping I can join please?

been so good since 30tn dec when I started my weight loss journey and successfully lost 6lbs.

todays been a wobbly day, feeling very tired and depressed and normally at this point I would turn to comfort eating and order a McDonald’s , but I’m trying to be good! I don’t want to ruin my good progress.

need support from others and coming here for accountability

JoyPeaceHealth · 10/01/2023 16:10

68.1
Feeling like the reducing figure is slowing down but staying on track.

scaredysquiggle · 10/01/2023 16:42

Welcome @MonicaBingaling :)

Stick with it, you can do this!

Eggsley · 10/01/2023 21:01

Welcome @MonicaBingaling, 6lbs is amazing!

@JoyPeaceHealth it's still going in the right direction which is the main thing! I have a tendency to think that if I've been careful for a few days then I should lose a stone almost instantly, and then I'm disheartened if I don't, then give up too easily. I'm determined not to do that this time, I have to keep reminding myself it's a marathon, not a sprint and if I keep doing the right things then the weight will go gradually.

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 10/01/2023 21:28

Same as usual here.
Another supermarket order bulging with groceries being delivered tomorrow. I'm trying loads of new recipes at the moment to keep the calories down which I am enjoying. DC are upper primary/beginning of secondary so finally, after years of beige, are willing to try new things which makes it easier.
I am feeling thinner today. I was so bloated, not just over Christmas but also during much of December and I think 10 days or so of little sugar and processed food has really helped with that.

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 10/01/2023 21:29

Bulging with vegetables not groceries! You'd hope a supermarket delivery would have groceries in it!

wizzler · 10/01/2023 21:33

Definitely feeling thinner. Had chicken and celery salad for lunch, and NO biscuits ! Drinking gallons of tea.
Finding all your posts about losing pounds very motivating

Sjanish33 · 11/01/2023 00:11

I am feeling pretty positive today. Calorie counting is going well and I feel so much less bloated - officially weighing in on Thursday...so hoping I will see that reflected in the scales.

I find weighing in nearer the weekend gives me the impetus to keep at it - the weekends are normally wine, cheese and crackers - Still haven't had a drink this year ;) hope to keep it up.

Hope you all sail over the midweek hump!

JoyPeaceHealth · 11/01/2023 09:13

I've put on 0.6 of a kilo! But I'm not going to panic. I've been keeping to under 1200 most days, if i went over it was only by a tiny bit. I was making good choices, no sugar,no refined carbs There were some days I only had 1000 calories and I didn't feel hungry so I don't think I'm eating too little! (I'm only 155cm). I put my height and weight and age in to some calculator and it said 1000 calories per day for fast weight loss and 1200 per day for a slower weight loss but I wasn't seeing any difference between the two.

I'm going to trouble shoot this by having a cup of brussel sprouts for brunch! 😐

JoyPeaceHealth · 11/01/2023 11:39

Not to be unladylike, heaven forbid, but I just boiled up 135 grams of brussel sprouts.

I'm a bit confused. Does bread make you regular. I hate that word, sincere apologies. Given that I was generally trying not to eat cake and biscuits, the only things I've removed are pasta, bread and small amounts of porridge. Was never eating large amounts of these things though. I tended to go straight for the sugary stuff like chocolate or cake! But the cakes must have had a lot of fibre in them Confused

PeppermintChoc · 11/01/2023 11:41

@JoyPeaceHealth you would probably benefit from a higher calorie day to shake your metabolism up a bit.

PeppermintChoc · 11/01/2023 11:47

Your bowel is like a dustbin, if you fill it slower you won’t have to empty it so often.

Eggsley · 11/01/2023 13:37

Haha @JoyPeaceHealth a very diplomatic way of asking. I have noticed a decided slow down in my situation now that I am eating less. I agree with@PeppermintChoc.

Still at 12st 11.2lbs here this morning - porridge for breakfast, cup a soup and 2 x sandwich thins for lunch. Have been for a walk at lunchtime. Managed to get 7k steps for the last couple of days which is almost double my usual (desk-based job so very sedentary!).

scaredysquiggle · 11/01/2023 14:29

I've seen a few people reference sandwich thins. What are they and in what way is this better then bread? Thanks
