I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

Well done everyone.
Stayed the same which I was expecting. Need to do better from now as we have booked a holiday in the Summer.

dylgan · 08/01/2023 12:55

It has been a bit of a mixed week for me food wise, some good days and a few days at work where I couldn't resist the treats. But I managed to lose 3lbs, so am pleased with that.

Eggsley · 08/01/2023 13:00

Well done all, some great losses this week. And even more well done to those who haven't had a loss because it's even harder to keep going and be motivated when the scales don't budge.

I'm 12st 12.2lbs this morning, so total loss from starting weight is 2.6lbs. Happy with that for my first week, especially being back in the 12st bracket.

Yesterday I had porridge with some golden syrup for breakfast, a hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows mid morning (oops!), two sandwich thins with tuna and vegan mayo and a bag of baked crisps for lunch. We went out for dinner and I had a burger and chips, followed by a baileys latte so I dread to think how many calories were in that, but I did enjoy it! Not a great day all in all, but better that it would have been in the past.

Had a huge lie in this morning (we are usually up and out at football on a Sunday morning but it was called off so it's been the laziest morning!). Have had a cup of tea but nothing to eat yet and I'm not massively hungry. DH has opened some Reece's peanut butter cups in front of me and I haven't had one Halo We are going out for lunch. I will try to make healthier choices than usual!

DrunkenKoala · 08/01/2023 13:11

Forgot to weigh myself until after breakfast this morning. I weighed 14.11 which is up 1.5lbs since Weds but still down 0.75lbs on last Sunday.

Unfortunately everything went a bit rubbish midweek as ended up in McDonalds on Weds evening for tea, did manage to go swimming on Thurs morning but only managed 16 lengths (still feeling the effects of covid probably). Then skipped swimming on Fri morning as still felt so knackered - probably my body telling me to slow down and recover properly. Gutted though as before I had covid I had loads of energy and was swimming faster and further than normal.

We had DD’s birthday yesterday so ate loads of crap and we’ve still got loads of birthday cake left 🤦🏻‍♀️. Hoping I’ve got the willpower to stay away from it.

So this week I’m planning on not having any bread until next Sunday. I’ve had lots of fruit and veg come in my shopping order this morning. I’m also planning on swimming four times next week (doing at least 2 Kms). I still haven’t got much room to hula hoop yet (desperate to get back on it) but our building work has started up again and hopefully another week or two and we’ll be able to start moving stuff into the new extension and my living room won’t look like a junk yard 😫.

@2023istheyearigetmyacttogether
I always exercise in an empty stomach (except glass of water) and then I have a 0% fat, high protein yoghurt as part of my breakfast - usually the Arla Skyr. Its sugar content is around 7g/100g, if hungry I’ll have some fruit mid morning and then a largish lunch.

Daisychops · 08/01/2023 13:35

Well done everyone, your losses are inspiring me to stick with it, or should I say start!

I'm a 2.2lb gain today, but I'm ok with that as I knew it was going to be a bad week with a family funeral and also totm and also not been feeling great.

I've joined SW online and I've joined a gym so no excuses for starting next week!

To the pp asking about cauliflower rice, I buy frozen, it's really handy and just goes in the microwave, great to go with stir fry dishes I try to batch cook and freeze

Twateralflow · 08/01/2023 16:21

PeppermintChoc · 08/01/2023 11:27

@Twateralflow forgive my ignorance - do you just rice a cauliflower?

Not ignorant at all @PeppermintChoc. I blitz raw cauliflower in a food processor and then fry in a tiny spray of oil add spices/herbs etc

TheWayItAllWouldGo · 08/01/2023 17:10

Have spent today batch cooking and freezing all my lunches and dinners for the week. I did this last week and it really helped me stay away from Just Eat!

It was also fantastic coming home from a long day at work and just having to heat my dinners up, and not having to think about what I'm having for lunch every day!

Also made little overnight oats pots to take to work all week for breakfast 🙂

If you are able to batch cook and freeze, I strongly recommend doing it.

TheWayItAllWouldGo · 08/01/2023 17:12

Twateralflow · 08/01/2023 11:12

Spent yesterday morning making healthy food for the week to stop me eating rubbish when I get in from work. I made vegetable Thai green curry with cauliflower rice, Moroccan sweet potato and chickpea stew to have with pitta bread and a mushroom and kale Wellington. I managed a 9k run this morning but on the flip side had a snackcident and managed to inhale a huge share bag of crisps yesterday - there was no sharing

Ah, I see you are a fan of meal prepping too 😊 doesn't it make healthy eating so much easier? And just life in general!

PeppermintChoc · 08/01/2023 17:29

@TheWayItAllWouldGo
i love batch cooking, although I love it a little too much as have packed my freezer and totally ran out of tuppawear. I love always having a decent meal on hand. Tonight I planned to do the kids a frozen pie but got in today late so we’ve just had a spag Bol (packed full of veg) 👌🏻 Takeaways never the quicker option here.

Good luck to everyone weighing in tomorrow

falgelednl · 08/01/2023 19:09

Start: 86kg
week 1: 84.9kg
loss: 1.1kg (just under 2.5lb)

my problem is snacking in the evenings, especially as there are still biscuits and chocolates around post Christmas.
I need to do something with my hands in the evenings to stop eating out if boredom/laziness.
I’m going to try picking up my writing again or get back into some crochet.

What do other people do in the evening?

Sjanish33 · 08/01/2023 19:27

Hello Everyone I have been following this thread for some inspiration- Can I join?

I got a shock weighing in last Sunday the 1st at
96.5kg!!! I have been on HRT for just over a year and my weight has gone up - I am 54 and my knees are not thanking me at all! I have stopped the HRT for now because it just isn't helping and I think I need a different approach - I have been battling the weight for many years and lost 2 stone in 2019 only to slowly regain it all.

My official weigh in day is Thursday (as I didn't start getting serious until then) but I checked the scales this am and I am down 1kg - I am calorie counting using Nutracheck and haven't had a glass of wine this year and intend to stay off it for as long as I can!

SW 96.5kg
CW 95.5kg

My goal weight is 65kg (could take years!)
My first goal is 85kg by late spring
if I could do 3kg a month I would be happy

I find it difficult to lose weight - If I as much as look at a carb I put on weight and of course I love cheese!

This is what gets me too- snacking in the PM! I try and keep myself busy with my hobbies but sometimes it doesn't work and I end up bingeing. Would love to know how other people manage this successfully!

It's so handy having a meal all prepared, isn't it! It means there is no excuse to order takeaway, which is what I usually did before, because I couldn't be arsed cooking!

That's why I'm trying so hard to keep on top of this meal prepping business. My Dh thinks I am obsessed with it, and he may be right 😅 but I just know if I stop doing it I will slip back into binge and takeaway territory!

Ooh your spag bol sounds amazing! Hope you enjoyed it. What are some of your fave meals to cook in advance? I'm always looking for inspiration.

Spag Bol, chilli, curry, soups, casseroles, fish pie, cottage pie, I make double sauces for pasta bakes and freeze those all freeze well. I’ve just been using The Batch Lady cookbook recently. Freezing different stuff to usual like 5 spice chicken marinated and frozen, a fakeaway beef dish.

I tend to meal plan and use two frozen meals and then make two freezer meals for the following week.

I also use simply cook which I find really handy for quick, tasty meals that don’t require much prep or fancy ingredients.

I have a code for simply cook for a free box www.simplycook.com/invite/XWEKDA?via=app

My meals have never been the cause of my weight gain - it’s the evening binging that is!

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 08/01/2023 20:15

Hello
In common with many of you, I've spent the weekend meal prepping too. I had no idea that you could buy frozen cauli rice until @Daisychops mentioned it so will definitely get some of that to have along with the various curries I've put in the freezer.
I am feeling very proud of myself as I did manage to stay away from the snacks this morning and managed to push lunch back a bit. Like @TheTurn0fTheScrew, I figured out that snacking was what had got me into this mess and that I need to learn to live with a bit of hunger. It's not as if I'm actually going to starve or have any other problems. Instead, I drank a lot of hot water and set myself on a mission to clear out a couple of cupboards.
End of week one for me tonight. I've spent a bit of time today thinking about this past week as I know that how I feel tomorrow will be influenced by the scales. I think it's been a good week. I've enjoyed most of my meals. I've enjoyed doing more exercise, particularly the classes. My hunger levels have generally been OK. I've slept and had similar energy levels to normal. It feels sustainable. Let's see what the morning brings!
I'm just going to finish usual Sunday night chores and then will spend an hour on the cross trainer watching TV.

PeppermintChoc · 08/01/2023 20:18

I’ve managed not to stuff my face for 7 full days and stick to calories but just scoffed loads of Christmas chocolates and cookies 😳

7 days is a record though and tomorrow is a new day!

HollyTheHarrier · 08/01/2023 21:30

@falgelednl I knit and definitely find this helps keep me busy in the evenings and stops me reaching for chocolate!

Stayed under my calorie target both yesterday and today so that’s good! I often give up tracking at the weekend and that leads to saying ‘fuck it’ and eating all the chocolate. So that is good for me. Will weigh in tomorrow 🤞

Eggsley · 08/01/2023 23:00

Had sausage, mash, peas and gravy for lunch. McDonald's for dinner and had a cheeseburger, regular fries and toffee latte (would usually have a lot more). No snacks at all, despite DH asking me twice if I wanted anything. Have not drunk any water all day. It's much easier to remember to drink water when I'm at work! Not the best day, but not the worst either.

I've got a holiday booked for the end of May so I reaaaalllyyy need to stick to this, otherwise I will feel uncomfortable and annoyed with myself for not trying!

Feeling positive going into next week. We can do this!

recklessgran · 09/01/2023 06:32

Morning all. I'm back having been AWOL all week. Really bad week here so no loss for me. Starting afresh today. Start weight 14st 11lbs. Shocking and I need to lose at least 3 stone. I'm so encouraged though reading about everyone's losses you've all made a great start so I''m hoping you lovely lot will help keep me on the straight and narrow. I know what I need to do but actually doing it is another matter! I'm doing 16:8 so nothing for me until midday. I'm currently drinking a black coffee.

HollyTheHarrier · 09/01/2023 06:37

64.6kg for me this morning so 0.5kg loss. Not as much as I was hoping to be honest, mid week the scales were under 64kg so I’ve bounced back up. But I guess all progress is good progress!

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 09/01/2023 06:47

Morning!

Week One - 5.5lbs down. Really pleased!

Have a great day everyone.

scaredysquiggle · 09/01/2023 08:05

Well done to @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa and @HollyTheHarrier on your losses. And good luck to @recklessgran this week.

I struggled with snacking on sweets last night. I'm really disappointed in myself as I hadn't touched anything other then my emails all week so I'm not sure why I wobbled. As such I haven't weighed in yet today but about to.

Happy Monday everyone

Imgonnabeslim23 · 09/01/2023 08:18
