1st January start, anyone up for it?

I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

Sunday morning weigh in, one week in, I’ve lost 1.6kg which is around 3.5 pounds I think. So I’m very happy.
been making veg soups and having small serves as snacks, so now I’m off to buy a soup maker.
best of luck for a good second week for us all.

comeon2023 · 07/01/2023 22:18

@Itssuzeimoverhere that's great well done!

I managed about the same, just weighed in at 88.5kg which is 1.5kg down since last weekend and hopefully puts me on track for my next goals

PeppermintChoc · 08/01/2023 06:53

Weight in 9st 9.6lb - started at 10st 1lb so really pleased. Same as yesterday. I think it will start to slow but feeling positive.

Exercise wise I’ve just been walking. I’ve been a gym bunny, runner etc and now seem to be constantly riddled with injury and obstacles (including prolapse from childbirth) so I’m just starting with something I can maintain. The weight gain was from an injury when I was v fit. Might step it up but it’s working for me now.

Dry January too. Definitely helps with the urge to binge eat. Last night for the first time I was tempted to eat a load of chocolate - it’s always the evening when the kids are in bed. Glad I didn’t.

Good luck everyone!

@Itssuzeimoverhere @comeon2023 @PeppermintChoc well done! You're all smashing it!
First weigh in done and I'm 9st 13 1/2 meaning I've lost 3lbs! Really happy to be under the 10st mark again.

Good luck to everyone who's weighing in today 😊

PeppermintChoc · 08/01/2023 08:05

Well done @GlumShoe it feels so good to get under that next stone bracket doesn’t it 😁

scaredysquiggle · 08/01/2023 09:03

I've weighed in at 10st 5.4 today so that's a 4.6lb loss this week. Well done to everyone who's weighed in this morning so far.

As I'd not been well and not eating a lot I don't expect this loss to stick and will probably see a lb or two increase this week as I start to put more food in my system and get back to the gym. My idea goal for next Sunday is to maintain todays weight.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 08/01/2023 09:04

Some really good losses on here. Well done! The same over on Instagram. I need to be ready for not actually losing very much - I've been under calories every day but I've not actually been able to move very much, I was on enforced rest for most of the last week. I will take any loss, no matter how small, when I weigh tomorrow. 🤞🏻

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/01/2023 09:07

Morning losers! Well done all. Would be good to add up what we've collectively lost, it will be loads.

Start weight: 13st 12
Current weight 13st 9
Loss of 3lb.

I'm very pleased with that. I know my weight loss will slow after this, but it's pleasing to see I'm on the right road.

sylv165 · 08/01/2023 09:26

Congratulations everyone! Not such a good result here, I have gained 2lbs 😩. For some reason this often happens to me when I start a diet and it can take up to 4 weeks for me to actually start seeing a difference on the scales. But have to stay positive - even if I’m not getting thinner drinking lots of water, eating lots of fruit and veg and getting plenty of exercise will be doing wonders for my health!

TheWayItAllWouldGo · 08/01/2023 09:30

I've just weighed in and lost 5lbs in my first week😍🥰 absolutely delighted!

Well done everyone, some great losses.

TheWayItAllWouldGo · 08/01/2023 09:33

Kaylisa · 07/01/2023 20:26

@TheWayItAllWouldGo I want to lose at least 6 stone but I need to lose over 9 to be top end of healthy on the bmi. I have gained 9 stone 5 since being with my husband. Literally another person 😅 we can do it!

We can! We just have to grab 2023 by the horns and get on with it! We'll get there 💪

Haveagentlechristmas · 08/01/2023 09:37

Start weight 12.2 1/2
This morning I'm under 12 stone weighing in at 11.13 1/2
Hurrah!
Going in heavier next week with the exercise!

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 08/01/2023 09:39

@sylv165 well done on keeping positive. On the couple of occasions when I've successfully lost weight the scales have moved in fits and start. Sometimes I'll have had a "good" week and frustratingly there's a gain, but the following week I might lose a bit even if not dieting nearly as much.

I'm also trying to think of weight loss in a positive frame of mind, rather than depriving myself - my body is a (crumbling) temple and all that!

TomorrowAndTomorrowAndTomorrow · 08/01/2023 09:39

Week 1: 2.6kg, 5.7lbs 🥳 BMI from 33.3 to 32.3 so I'm pleased with that.

We are in the same boat so you aren't alone.
I also have around 9-10st to lose and have previously lost 7st and gained most back after a difficult few years.

Also weighing in weekly, first weigh in tomorrow. Good luck and report back. I will post in the morning.

What sort of method are you using to lose weight? I am calorie counting and fasting.

The method I'm using is a bit wishy washy, but it works😅. I'm not counting calories, but just having 3 balanced meals a day and 2 healthy snacks. See, my problem isn't my meals, it's the amount of snacks I shovel into my mouth of an evening!

I need to get my crisp consumption under control 🙈 I'd say once I lose a few stones though it will stop working and I'll have to start counting calories to continue to lose weight.

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 08/01/2023 09:48

What are low calorie filling snacks?
I had an 8am Pilates class so planned to eat after that but woke up ravenous so had a SlimFast shake just before I left as it was quick and easy. I'm now home, starving and it's at least 2.5 hours until I can have lunch.
One potential downside of Slimfast which I need to figure out if whether it wakes up my hunger rather than satisfy it. I don't want a quick & easy solution to actually cause more problems!

I'm sure this won't be the same for everyone, and might not be helpful, but when I have lost weight successfully, I've had to get a bit Zen about being hungry. I don't mean starving myself, but accepting that if I've had a decent breakfast and have lunch planned, then it's ok to be a bit hungry mid morning. I have to accept this to some degree as snacking is my downfall and I find it hard to snack small/healthily.

I eat fruit between meals. I find a banana really filling and when I lost 4 stones previously, I used to snack on fruit between meals.

0% fat Greek yogurt is also really good.

JoyPeaceHealth · 08/01/2023 10:10

68.4 phew.
I'd have plain yoghurt but full fat, it keeps you full longer.
When I was keto I'd have a babybell if I were starving but it wasn't a meal time.

Well done everyone, some great losses.

Well done!
I actually lost the same! 5lbs down.
I know it will be mostly water but it felt so good putting that in my app and to be losing rather than gaining.

When I lost 7st in 2019 I lost 5lbs my first week too so here's hoping it's a sign of things to come!

SillyLittleMargaret · 08/01/2023 10:41

Can I join you all? I know I'm a little late to the party. I gave up alcohol on 1st Jan and need to shift about 2 stone. I'm 50 in May and have put weight on over the last couple of years, a combination of lack of exercise and eating rubbish. I can be a bit all or nothing around food which leads to yo-yo weight loss/gain, so I'm not following a regime, rather planning 3 meals and 3 snacks (if I need them) and aiming for a run 3 x weekly.
Checking in today at 11st 4lb (71.8kg)

Twateralflow · 08/01/2023 11:12

Spent yesterday morning making healthy food for the week to stop me eating rubbish when I get in from work. I made vegetable Thai green curry with cauliflower rice, Moroccan sweet potato and chickpea stew to have with pitta bread and a mushroom and kale Wellington. I managed a 9k run this morning but on the flip side had a snackcident and managed to inhale a huge share bag of crisps yesterday - there was no sharing

PeppermintChoc · 08/01/2023 11:27

@Twateralflow forgive my ignorance - do you just rice a cauliflower?

PeppermintChoc · 08/01/2023 11:29

@SillyLittleMargaret come on in!

Doesitmatteranyway · 08/01/2023 11:30

I have also lost 3lbs this week which I’m happy with as a good start.
Hasn’t been too painful for me this week. Found it quite easy to turn down chocolate and cake when offered and I think once I’ve gone a few days without sugary foods I seem to be able to avoid them more easily.
well done to everyone for checking in and here’s to another good week.
@sylv165 keep going you are bound to see results if you can stay positive and keep trying.
