1st January start, anyone up for it?

I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

Ugh, have had another brilliant day and stuck to my plan, but I'm really bloated tonight. I hate that. It makes you feel really big when you've stuck to your plan.

I had grilled salmon with vegetables for tea, and I'm really bloated and gassy. My belly feels like a balloon. Can't stop farting either, really uncomfortable 😣

Elerandooo · 05/01/2023 22:21

I’m down 3lbs in just 5 days. Granted it’ll all be water weight, but it does feel damn good looking at the scales and is definitely giving me the drive to keep going! I’ve been sticking to 1200 calories per day as well as 2 litres of water and a few green teas. Feeling quite clear headed and positive which is a nice change as it’s been a tough year and things have been really weighing on my mind- maybe it was just the fact I was a lazy bugger who stuffed her face with crap all day long 😂
Would love to see a 5lb loss by end of next week. Really want to commit to this as I’m fed up of feeling shite in every piece of clothing I put on (would also be nice to run around with my little one and not be fighting for my breath) 👍🏻

Toomuch2019 · 06/01/2023 06:06

Going ok for me this week. I've lost a few lbs already although I reckon it's mainly water but feels good.

I'm doing a combo of mostly 16:8 plus eat less rubbish (chocolate, alcohol, white bread general processed stuff) - less rather than cutting out
totally. And eating more veg. I'll move on to something more structured when the weight loss stops on that method but have a lot to lose so starting gently!

Is anyone else a bit worried about the weekend and reversing any losses from this week? Weekends tend to be my downfall, partly from sheer habit, partly from having time and no doubt a whole host of other reasons!
This weekend should be a bit easier as we're not having friends over or going out for a meal.'I'm meeting one friend for a coffee but that's it (well other than acting as a taxi service for the DC!).
I'm also very good at prevaricating about exercise at the weekend. If there's no structure, it's easy to keep pushing it back.

I've deliberately kept social plans to a minimum in Jan to avoid being conflicted in this way (helps to save some money too!)

I've also moved my weigh day to Monday from Friday as I found I just ate what I wanted over the weekend, post weigh in.

At the weekend I used to always try and get exercise out of the way ASAP because I knew once I got comfy with a book or no set there was no chance of it happening!

EddietheEagle · 06/01/2023 10:00

Well the bloating has gone this morning and I feel great!! Also half a pound lighter!!

It's working!! 9.5lbs to go until I'm 11.13

Bring it on

Kaylisa · 06/01/2023 10:09

I’m not too worried about the weekend as I’m just thinking eat what I want but count the calories. So I know I’ll be eating out Sunday, I’ll pick something from menu that’s within my allowance.
will be a bit of a challenge as I noticed since the calories have been on menus, my ‘go to’ options are always up there amongst the most calories…explains a lot!

JoyPeaceHealth · 06/01/2023 12:46

Lost another 0.2 of a kilo! yay. I also have a few EATING OUTs coming up though. i'll try to go, act normal, eat 3/4s of something normal and then stay on track. That's the plan.
Now, pilates. Then a walk

I was shocked to discover the things I'd avoided as I'd perceived them to be bad were healthier then the things I'd gone for instead. You live and learn.

HairsprayBabe · 06/01/2023 16:01

I don't calorie count on the weekend but I don't go mad either, limit drinks to one or two vodka sodas rather than sugary cocktails or wine, opt for lower cal things on menus if we are eating out, skip breakfast if I know ive got big foodie plans later etc.

HairsprayBabe · 06/01/2023 16:03

11st bang on for me this morning, so if I have a "good" weekend then hopefully I'll be into the 10s firmly next week

JoyPeaceHealth · 06/01/2023 16:15

I got a mixed salad from the salad bar at the supermarket. 0.336 kilos. VERY hard to know how many calories in it. Calling it 400. There wasn't much salad dressing I don't think but there was a bit of bulgar wheat, curried cauliflower, chickpeas.

sylv165 · 06/01/2023 17:09

Its been a bit of a mixed day here. I've been busy with various things and have been rushing from place to place. So I really haven't eaten very much at all so far. But haven't had any time to do exercise and am now absolutely ravenous! Need to make sure I don't snack or overeat. Also, I now have the Friday night craving for wine - must stay strong!!

JoyPeaceHealth · 06/01/2023 17:49

I'm going out tonight and I'm going to try and have one glass of champagne and then switch to sparkling water. God help me stay strong Grin
Because I've been doing well. I don't want to ruin it so fingers crossed.

Eggsley · 06/01/2023 18:49

I've been awol as busy at work but am still going! I was 12st 11.4lbs yesterday and the same this morning.

Yesterday I forgot about breakfast, had two sandwich thins, a minestrone cup a soup and 25g onion rings crisps for lunch. DS1 had a party early evening so I had a latte, a few chips and about 4 teeny tiny strips of pizza (they were about a finger width each) there. Then had a load of fruit and some cheese later on, and a hot chocolate.

Today I had porridge for breakfast and a roasted squash flatbread with salad for lunch. No snacks (so far) and DH is making dinner, he says it's a surprise so I'm not allowed into the kitchen but I think it involves chicken and bacon. I am so hungry! Might have a hot chocolate later.

I usually do a lot more steps at the weekend as we always seem to be busy. We often get a McDonald's as it's quick but we are avoiding fast food/takeaways at the moment.

I haven't had enough to drink today and can feel a headache coming on because of it.

@JoyPeaceHealth love the name change Grin

Mumstheword2022 · 06/01/2023 19:12

Okay so this morning I had lost 5 lbs since Tuesday. This tells me little really although I do feel much better but I seem to gain and lose like this in recent months.

back under 12 stone though - by a smidge!

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 06/01/2023 20:41

@scaredysquiggle I had the same revelation since the introduction of the calorie thing.

I went to a friend's on the way home and she had some Pringles out. I had 4 and then stopped. She's doing dry Jan so at least there was no alcohol on offer.

Supper tonight was a bowl of fresh salad with courgette, spinach & feta which meant I ate 1350 calories but I did do 400 calories worth of exercise today.

Haveagentlechristmas · 06/01/2023 20:52

It's been hard these last few days but I've reigned it in to about 1335 calories today, plus I did a decent dog walk. But have had such a bad cough I haven't managed any weights classes this week. Managed 50g of protein today, trying for a bit higher, say 60 to 70 per day.

Ninjajay · 06/01/2023 20:53

Weighed in at 11st 12 this morning down from 11st 12.9 - least it's a bit of a loss.

I'm weaning the sugar, I can't just cut it out. Trying to stick to my calories though. Walking as much as possible.

Hoping to be 11st 11lb by next Friday

Shnowfairy · 06/01/2023 21:04

Mind if I join? I’m 14st and feel like a right big lump! I’ve been ordering Hello Fresh as that always helps me, I think all the different flavours satisfy me enough to stop any cravings!

I’ve really lost motivation tonight, been browsing Mybodygallery all evening but I think I need a bit of accountability.

Haveagentlechristmas · 06/01/2023 23:21

Try upping protein and try sugar substitutes like sugar free sweets as a treat.

AutumnOcean · 07/01/2023 01:33

Mumski45 · 05/01/2023 07:46

Weighed it at 61.0 this morning which is 0.1 down from yesterday. Not much but at least it's in the right direction. Today will be tougher as no exercise planned to boost my calorie allowance.

@wizzler that sounds like a good plan as you are more likely to stick to it than drastically changing your eating habits.

@Twateralflow I like that idea. In fact I do something similar but having a cup of tea if I feel peckish just to try to put me on to the next mealtime.

@AutumnOcean good luck for your weigh in at the weekend. I find myself checking it daily but this can lead to odd fluctuations.

Thank you :) no loss, but my clothes are fitting better so I'm happy with that. Hope everyone is doing well!

PeppermintChoc · 07/01/2023 07:17

I have managed 6 consecutive days of NOT stuffing my face! Kept within my calories mostly. Went 160 over yesterday but that’s pretty good IMO. Been squeezing a walk in each day.

Im 9.10 down from 10.1 so all good progress, I feel much clearer doing dry January, I drank too much through December, I think that’s helping to curb my appetite too.

16:8 fasting working best for me. DH has made me porridge with the kids once or twice and those days have been harder to keep within my goal.

EddietheEagle · 07/01/2023 09:29

It's official weigh day for me! It's day 7!

Just weighed, and I've lost 5lbs in my first week! So so pleased it's working. I've been cooking meals from the Pinch of Nom books, so I don't feel like I'm restricting calories. Had a gorgeous pasta dish last night.

When I've craved sweet things I've been having sugar free jelly which has really helped.

Hope everyone else doing ok?

1st January start, anyone up for it?
