1st January start, anyone up for it?

I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

I’ve just been tracking my food and put in my start weight on the nhs weight loss tracker.
I think you can only put weight in once a week though. I’ve been making a daily note in my diary.
move weighed daily so far and am apparently 5lb down (have a lot to lose) so that’s good and motivating. Really feeling in the zone atm!

KathyBurke · 03/01/2023 10:13

I'm back from the dentist. I had a big clean and one filing.

Mumski45 · 03/01/2023 10:15

Decided to face the damage and start the daily weigh in. 61.8kg this morning and my target is 54 so 7.8 to go. At 0.8 per week that would 10 weeks to target weight which is mid March. 🤞🏼

sylv165 · 03/01/2023 11:16

I know I’m late to the party, but can I join please? I joined a similar group about 2 years ago and found it a good motivator- at least until I fell off the wagon and regained all the weight I had managed to lose 😳

Weighed in this morning at 11st11lbs, which is thoroughly depressing. Exercise always helps me a lot with both motivation and weight loss, so that is going to be key for me. I’ve just restarted c25k - is anyone else doing it? Also going to try and do some weights/strength training on my off days. Also ditching the booze for January.

Ive tried Second Nature in the past and found the principles quite sensible and effective. I can’t afford to rejoin, but will follow their rules and hope for the best! Good luck everyone!

JoyPeaceSleep · 03/01/2023 13:25

@sylv165 same! Here we go again!

I lost this 10 kilos 2 years ago, keto sure is effective, but then I fell in to a cake and put it all back on again. So here I am again. I know how to lose weight but it's the psychology of giving the middle path the same adherence i can give one extreme (or the other), that's what i need to get on top of. I dont want to be fat thin fat fat fat thin.

Such a gruelling thing to put myself through repeatedly.

KathyBurke · 03/01/2023 10:13

I'm back from the dentist. I had a big clean and one filing.

Treat yourself to something with no calories!

Eggsley · 03/01/2023 13:47

13st 0.8lbs this morning, which is the same as yesterday. I'm ok with that as I was planning to start properly today now that I'm back at work. I think I will have to weigh myself every day to keep my motivation going!

Had porridge for breakfast, two sandwich thins with cheese for lunch and have got a banana for a snack. I've also got some chocolate fingers as I am eating up the Christmas stuff slowly rather than scoffing it all like I usually do. Had a few cups of tea and coffee, and on my second pint of water. Have been out for a walk at lunch time too. I didn't walk too far, but it's a start.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

sylv165 · 03/01/2023 13:54

Exactly @JoyPeaceSleep. 10 years ago before I had kids I was really fit and around 7.5st (which sounds tiny but I’m only 5ft so it was just about the perfect weight). I would love to say that I’ll get back to that weight one day, but realistically my hormones/age/lifestyle make that pretty much impossible- or if it is possible to get there, impossible to maintain. I like going out for dinner with friends, I enjoy wine and chocolate and think life is too short to give that up completely. So I’m aiming for health and fitness, and would like to be under 10st and ideally a lot less, but will settle for a weight that gives me that balance

wizzler · 03/01/2023 14:23

Well done @KathyBurke ... hopefully that means you don't have to go back for a while

recklessgran · 03/01/2023 15:38

Bad day today. 3 digestives and 3 slices of toast and marmite. Emotional eating as something is upsetting me and I'm not sure how to address it. Have given myself a talking to - I just wish I knew why I do this....... EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

Mumski45 · 03/01/2023 15:46

@sylv165 I agree with you that overall balance is important.

I tend to go in cycles though as I go through a period of strict control for about 2-3 months and aim for a bit below my target weight. I then relax a little and go with the flow until I hit my max at which point I control it again. I usually get about 15-18m before I hit that point.

@KathyBurke well done for getting there in the end.

@Eggsley good luck for sticking to it today. I find the first few days are the hardest. Your stomach then shrinks a bit and you get into a bit of a routine and it gets easier.

KathyBurke · 03/01/2023 15:46

@recklessgran tomorrow is another day. I have just scoffed two small packets of crisps so now I can't have any tea. My reasoning is I feel a little traumatised after going to the dentist earlier. It's hard work being that frightened 😁

comeon2023 · 03/01/2023 15:50

@sylv165 I'm doing c25k! I started (yesterday) on week 2 run 3 though cos I've been doing a fair amount of cycling & yoga recently so thought I'd push myself a bit. I struggle to find time to run more than once a week though

Mumski45 · 03/01/2023 15:51

Today's indoor bike ride is done so that's 291 calories extra for tea tonight and 291 to add to potential weight loss.

I had to guess the calories for the tapas last night but I don't think it was as much as I feared. I had a goats cheese salad, half a small portion of patatas bravas and a small portion of mushrooms with cheese. No drinks other than water and a cup of tea and no desert.

Hoping the weather is good enough to ride outside tomorrow as it's my day off.

recklessgran · 03/01/2023 15:52

Thanks@KathyBurke I really admire you - I need to go but can't summon up the courage to even make an appointment so well done you! I've now eaten 3 chocolate Napolitains - surrounded by Christmas stuff still. DH is able to eat ANYTHING he wants without gaining an ounce bless him!

EddietheEagle · 03/01/2023 16:05

I'm on day 2 and have stuck to it!! Actually feeling so much better already. Got healthy low calorie evening meals planned, and have been and got a big bag full of low calorie snacks and fruit.

KathyBurke · 03/01/2023 16:07

@recklessgran how long has it been since you have been to the dentist. I left it four years. I'm glad that I have been but I was literally shaking in the chair. I don't know why I have such fear because I've never been hurt by a dentist. It's really traumatic for me.

recklessgran · 03/01/2023 16:17

@KathyBurke not since before Covid - I dare say I'll pluck up the courage one of these days!

CurlyClairey · 03/01/2023 17:10

Hi all! Please can I join? Day 1 today as I’ve just started back at work. Really need to stop eating, I feel as though all I’ve done is eat alllll day. Posting now as I’m hoping to stop myself eating anything g else this evening if I’ve already done my post.

Exercise: Morning 20 minutes Peleton

Food: Cornflakes, chopped banana, oat milk
3 black coffees
3 hash browns and 1/3 can of beans
Tub of cottage cheese and pack of raw baby sweetcorn
2 fried eggs on toast with spinach
Decaf coffee and oat milk
Trek bar

im going to go for a light swim now instead of sitting and watching TV and snacking - not sure how far I’ll swim but even if I sit in the sauna, I won’t be snacking!!! 😂

Eggsley · 03/01/2023 17:57

Thanks @Mumski45, so far so good.

I've got sausages, sweet potato mash and beans for dinner and hoping to get a workout in this evening too.

@KathyBurke well done for getting through the dentist trip. I've got an appointment in February and haven't been since 2019 as our dentist stopped doing routine appointments for about 2 years! I'm apprehensive rather than terrified but I find it an unpleasant experience generally!

JoyPeaceSleep · 03/01/2023 18:01

I did pilates earlier and i'm shocked by how weak I am now! I am really motivated to build up some strength. I'm in a good place mentally to try right now. But scared about going back to work. I hate that I need ''headspace'' to eat healthily and exercise! This is what I need to change.

Twateralflow · 03/01/2023 18:39

Rubbish day exercise wise. Only 2000 steps as in the office all day and no running/working out as so tired from work. Kept under my 1600 calories so that's good. I'm going to try and run before work tomorrow and may squeeze some yoga in before bed if I ever get off the sofa

HairsprayBabe · 03/01/2023 19:51

Mine are 2 and nearly one so i just have no time! Im about to go back to work so it isnt going to get any easier!
Agree especially this time of year I don't want to go out in the evenings or get up before them 😫
I do spend most of the day on my feet scuttling after them and my 2yo is enormous so at least that is weight 😅 I'm still BF so I need to take those calories into consideration but my 1yo is only 9th centile and has never had a huge appetite the weight fell off with my DS because he ate so much, this time has not been the same!

Good day today scales are still the same though,

mothertrucking · 03/01/2023 20:05

I've tried to eat reasonably healthy today, protein porridge for breakfast, jacket and beans for lunch. I've snacked on some nuts and raisins and an orange. Dinner was chicken pasta but filled with peppers, chilli, garlic, spinach.

Did a quick workout at the gym after work too.

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 03/01/2023 20:08

Just making a peppermint tea and then that's me done for the day.
Scrambled egg on toast for breakfast, home made lentil soup and a roll with chopped veg on the side for lunch, sweet potato, cauliflower & pea curry for tea. My only snack was an apple.
I had one coffee with milk but the rest was hot water with lemon, herbal teas and a black coffee. Such a contrast to the last few months when I was having a latte, a couple of coffees with milk and a few cups of tea each day. Not to mention the alcohol in December!
Exercise wise, I did 30 mins on the cross trainer and level 1 of the 30 day shred. Working from home so very limited steps even with the cross trainer.
