Thought I'd save you the hassle @poorpaws.

Well done for those who have lost and good luck to those struggling.

My focus at the moment is just to be wiser for food selection and to keep active. The slow moving scales can wait although I did check this morning and showing I'm nearly back to 14 and a half stone.

Signed up to Oddbox and got my first delivery yesterday. To make sure I have lots of healthy stuff in the house. This is my first delivery.

Going to plan my meals around it now. Feel at least one soup in there.

@Zebracat unfortunately I didn't know I would have to be weighed or I would have worn something more suitable. I received a text from my GP asking for a blood pressure reading and I dont own a blood pressure monitor so I walked to the GPs surgery (in dog walking clothes and wellies) and the receptionist took me through to have it checked. I was so horrified at my weight and loss of height that I didn't note how my blood pressure was.

@Gottoloveatakeaway that fruit and veg looks lovely quality, what's on the menu?

It's been a war zone here this morning. My daughters child kicked off and there was shouting and crying so I can't wait until 7 Feb when they leave and I can get my home back, I'm counting the days.

I hope everyone is doing well with a last push this week to try to meet goals or in my case get nearer to goal.

Gottoloveatakeaway · 26/01/2023 18:06

Was just trying to plan some meals @poorpaws . Thinking
Quorn shepherd's pie with swede mashed in.
Smoked haddock and spinach kedgeree
Roasted beetroot, squash and tomatoes topped with crumbled feta lite
That's my next three dinners sorted.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 26/01/2023 23:24

Just checking in after sniffling through most of January with a horrid cold... obviously now DP has it it is A LOT more serious than a cold, and necessitates him taking to bed whenever he can Hmm

I've signed up for some new online exercise classes starting next week, let's hope they'll be useful!

@Gottoloveatakeaway I really like getting my Oddbox delivery, their customer service is great too. I just need to eat a lot more veg to make the most of it Grin

Zebracat · 27/01/2023 08:18

Good morning. I also have a horrible sinussy cold. I can’t swim, can’t go anywhere, can’t sleep. So of course I’m back to my default position on the sofa with biscuits. So fed up.

PinkArt · 27/01/2023 10:38

I've hit my first goal today - I'm a pound down and 'only' 17 stone as of today's weigh in. I was a little annoyed with myself as I think I could have got down into the 16s with some more vegetables and some less bread but I'm shhing that voice because a win is a win.

So because I seem to be responding better to a step-by-step approach at the moment, my next goal is 16 stone 7.

TalkToTheHand123 · 27/01/2023 14:17

Target is 14 stone now. Took a long time to get from 15 stone to 14 and a half so will likely need a bit of patience. Feels like it's been worth the torture ☺️

OP posts:
PinkArt · 27/01/2023 15:17

@TalkToTheHand123 Do you set yourself smallish targets each time?

TalkToTheHand123 · 27/01/2023 22:56

Hi @PinkArt , my scales are quite rubbish and are not digital so quite difficult to read, so I set targets in half stones. I used to fluctuate between 15 and 16 stone until a few months ago.

It then settled on 15 stone for a while then dropped to 14 and a half stone which it's been on a few weeks now.

I've slowly managed to stop eating rubbish and last couple of weeks have got by on soup, fruit, fish, baked potatoes salads, veg and chicken. I have the odd slip up, biscuits, chocolate bar. I'm hoping to totally give up alcohol and it's been a couple of weeks now so far.

Eating more fish has helped me to stop binging quite a lot and quickly with relative ease.

I often try not to weigh myself for a while as a big loss (when it actually happens) feels great.

Gottoloveatakeaway · 28/01/2023 17:49

Late update. Weighed yesterday and lost the lb I put on last week, plus 1/2. So 1/2 lb down in reality. Not ideal but a loss.

PinkArt · 28/01/2023 19:09

It's so interesting how different approaches work better for each of us @TalkToTheHand123. I'm finding smaller goals much more achievable this time - not my first rodeo - but prefer a weekly weigh in to help keep myself focused.
I'll be thrilled when I reach the kind of weight you're currently at. That was my starting point last time around, so psychologically I think it'll feel good to know I've reversed a few years worth of 'fuck it' eating.

TalkToTheHand123 · 29/01/2023 13:36

I agree @PinkArt , the difficult part was to find easy ways to fit in the lifestyle which is sustainable, which touch wood, I've finally cracked. Just need to be patient and focussed.

I don't really have a target date, just to lose another 1/2 a stone as soon as possible as long as the scales appear to be moving in the right direction (which I'm hoping they will start to again soon).

effiesgoldwig · 29/01/2023 14:49

I think we are on a fairly similar journey @PinkArt

I'm currently 16st3.5 but when I started in November I was 17st11. I'm going for slow and steady. I've done slimming world in the past which saw big losses but I found too restrictive which meant that I gave up completely and ended up regaining and then some all that id lost.

I'm not calorie counting with MyNetDiary app and am allowing myself 1850 calories a day (the app lets you choose the weight you want to lose and sets the calorie intake accordingly) I am aiming to lose average of 1lb a week. It's going slow and steady but I'm getting to eat most things I want to. And I'm trying to introduce more veg to have a healthier lifestyle.

I'm aiming to be 15st something by the end of February which will be my lowest weight for 10 years and will hopefully put my bmi below 35 for the first time since dd2 was born. It was 40 and it currently 36 so I'm super proud of how far I have come.

effiesgoldwig · 29/01/2023 14:50

*im now calorie counting

Sorry should have proofread

Theredjellybean · 30/01/2023 09:01

I ended Jan at 72.8..so not my mini goal of 72 but considering I started at 74.4, hit 75.5 at one point and have been up and down like a frigging yo-yo on speed ,I'm happy
Goal for February is 71.5 and to do three weights based workouts per week and two runs
Hope all of you with colds etc start to feel better soon...and new goals are set.

TalkToTheHand123 · 30/01/2023 09:07

Hi all. Weighed earlier this morning after feeling a bit lighter and currently just under 14 and a half stone ☺️, so at my lowest in years and not gained even though I pigged out a bit last night 🐷

Have managed to sneek in a couple of cheeky naps this week which seems to have helped.

OP posts:
Zebracat · 30/01/2023 09:57

98.8 for me. A disappointing but not surprising gain. I am starting to feel a tiny bit better, so I’m hoping to get back to my routine. It really seems to hang on breakfast for me. I lose weight if I start with porridge, gain if it’s toast, but I couldn't face dairy with the phlegm…
I will aim to swim twice this week. I will be having 2 meals out, but I am determined to pick healthier options and not have too much.
Target for February is 97. Seems doable, doesn't mean it is though. Time to shake off the post Christmas doldrums! I really want to lose 6 kilos over the next 3 months. Closer to 90 kilos than 100.

effiesgoldwig · 30/01/2023 14:35

16.4.5 for me this morning. I ate a large amount of cake yesterday. So a maintain compared to last week but still beats my mini January target so I'm happy with that.

Aiming for 15st13 by the end of feb. Should be doable but I suppose it's back on the soup for me tomorrow.

PinkArt · 30/01/2023 17:00

Your post is great motivation @effiesgoldwig as you're hopefully only a month or so ahead of me.

I hit 18 stone 9 at my worst during the third lockdown and that shocked me in to action. I knew it was bad, as I was using food as a coping mechanism, but not that bad. My previous worst case was 15 stone 4, which was my starting point to lose about 4 stone about a decade ago. It initially started to pile back on when I had my gall bladder removed and then there was a big 'fuck it' tipping point at some point where I figured if I was putting it all back on eating what I had lost weight with previously then I might as well put it back on by eating loads of chocolate.

I wasn't sure initially that losing from the 18 stone 9 peak was going to be possible so I have to keep reminding myself that every win is a step back towards a goal I wasn't sure I could reach.

effiesgoldwig · 30/01/2023 18:15

Ah that's nice to hear @PinkArt

I'm getting over a bit of a "fuck it" weekend to be honest. Dd baked a cake with buttercream icing and nobody else is eating it. There's only half a cake left. Add that to general unwell feeling and the possibility that another period is round the corner and I just want all the chocolate and cake I can get my hands on. Fortunately the online food shopper in me was fairly sensible last night and so there's not much in for me to scoff.

BeyondMyWits · 30/01/2023 19:05

Hiya all... 15st 6 here, so demoralised, but getting back on that bloomin wagon tomorrow. DDhome from uni and made cookies, so cannot , just cannot start tonight!!!

TalkToTheHand123 · 30/01/2023 19:08

Demolished half a cheesecake today😲, hoping the soup will help.

The big boss is on a diet now so it's a little easier as she usually brings in lots of cakes.

I don't know if I like others being on a diet, there is two other people now in the office on diets 😂

You can freeze iced cake, @effiesgoldwig, if practical advice helps! I say this having just eaten a bar of Tony's and a bag of popcorn 🤦🏻‍♀️

Zebracat · 30/01/2023 22:10

I’ve had a better day, kept within my calorie allowance, moved about more. I am not giving up this time. I’m going to get this back and get the next 10 kilos off. The alternative is going back to 17 stone and up, and sore skin and diabetes etc. I’m not having it.
Little wins. Arranged to change a meal out to a picnic, and then bought modest and healthy food for it.
@effiesgoldwig . I agree , you are an inspiration, just going from strength to strength.

effiesgoldwig · 31/01/2023 02:23

Ah you guys! You'll make me blush.

No inspiration here today just a d&v bug courtesy of my 1yo.

I am never going to soft play again.
