Fuck I'm so lardy, I've hit peak fatness and need to sort it out.

It would appear that all I do is stuff my face with crap, lots of crap.

I'm going to try and sort myself out, starting tomorrow.

I'm scared, I'm useless at dieting but it's getting serious. I'm so unhappy, I caught sight of myself in the window walking past Costa coffee today. It was grim.

Anyone want to join me?

Weigh day tomorrow.

Well done everyone, especially considering abundant festive temptations!

@Runnerduck34 I'd love to carry on too, hoping someone knows how to make Thread 2 when the time comes.

@LadyRue Welcome, the more the merrier!

Stravaig · 14/12/2022 07:39

🥳 Halfway!

In the middle of a lovely wee cluster of milestones, very motivating after last month's doldrums.

Sodullincomparison · 14/12/2022 20:23

@Stravaig that is great news!

I feel Im making great progress today so I finally look forward to next Monday.

Stravaig · 15/12/2022 07:00

@Sodullincomparison That's brilliant, we can do this!

Stravaig · 15/12/2022 07:25

🥳 I am now in the Healthy BMI category! 🎷💃✨

I've still got a ways to go. The Healthy category is some 18 kilos/3 stone wide, and my happy weight is somewhere in the middle of it. In the top third I'm already overweight, in the bottom third I'm already underweight. So I'm aiming for the centre, within a 6 kg / 1 st personal healthy range.

This might be about body frame? I'm medium height, always active and strong until recent illness, but my underlying bone structure is quite delicate - neck, wrists, waist, ankles, feet are all very slender. So this might be why I can't gain or lose much weight without it being obvious?

Both times I've been very overweight it's been preceded by first becoming rapidly underweight, after bereavement or illness. So going forward I want to set up guide rails for myself so I don't veer too far in either direction.

whyhere · 15/12/2022 08:26

Such a wise approach 🙂

Runnerduck34 · 15/12/2022 10:14

@stravaig congratulations 🎊
That's fab news and well deserved as I know how hard you have tried.

I'm am not doing as well, I absent mindedly stuffed heroes yesterday just because they were in front of me and I was a bit stressed.
I need to be more mindful!

Stravaig · 15/12/2022 21:59

Thank you ☺️

PaulineFowlersCardigan · 16/12/2022 11:34

Everyone is doing so amazingly! I fell off the thread, the whole family had covid so I was running around and then I got it last week. My third time. And I still feel so awful 🤦🏻‍♀️
Before it struck I was down to 12st 9lbs. But I don’t know what it is about covid, it’s not like anything I’ve ever had, I just want sugar!! So I’m not even looking at the scales until I’m better.. here’s hoping I get my taste back for Christmas 🤞🏻X

whyhere · 16/12/2022 11:49

You poor thing! Three times: that's so unfair! Hope you feel properly better soon.

Stravaig · 17/12/2022 08:33

@PaulineFowlersCardigan Oh no! ❤️‍🩹 That's not sugar, that's medicine. It is known.

@Runnerduck34 I've learned the hard way that selection boxes cannot cross the threshold!

Had the dentist and Covid+flu jags this week, and am feeling shivery and sore all over. I've just cracked and broken house rules which say that mountain kit in the spring of its life is not to be (ab)used around the home. (10, 20 years down the line, ripped and patched and on its last legs is a different story.) An icy dawn rummage through some boxes and I am now sitting snuggled inside a down sleeping bag as well as duvet and blanket and am toasty warm for the first time in days 🔥

Sodullincomparison · 17/12/2022 13:14

Congrats Stravaig!!! That’s awesome news! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

and glad you are warm again. We have gone from -8 to good old rain again.

@PaulineFowlersCardigan Are you feeling ok?

@Runnerduck34 every day is a new day. 😀😀

I went to weigh myself ( maybe feeling a little smug due to illness and not much appetite all week) and got an Error alert on the scales. I said to DH oh that’s weird, they were fine three days ago. He says “they were good for me yesterday huh”

so I use them several times a week no problem. He uses them once a year around his birthday and now they don’t work.

he then started to suggest that he get me some for Christmas but my eyebrows couldn’t have raised any further above my head.

one week to go for our first challenge. Let’s go for it!!!!

Stravaig · 17/12/2022 20:19

@Sodullincomparison Thank you!

🤯 Oh my! Your DH veering into risky territory there 🤣

A wee thank you to everyone 🙏😘 ~ my life has shrunk to quite a small space recently, and while I think of myself as relatively self-sufficient, the encouragement and cheering on has been really lovely ❤️

Sodullincomparison · 17/12/2022 21:27

I think we are now near the end of the thread and I don’t seem to be able to start a new one on my app.

anyone else able to?

Stravaig · 18/12/2022 13:05

Is 1000 posts the max? A few dozen to go!

It's surprisingly unobvious, how to start a thread, but after extensive hunting around menus, I discovered a 'Start New Thread' button on the Active page which I rarely visit. (I'm using the website on a tablet.)

So I can give it a try, when we the time comes, unless someone who actually knows what they're doing already has! In the last 10 posts, is that good timing, just space to post a link?

I feel like there must be a more obvious place to start a thread from, but I couldn't find it!

Pelo22 · 18/12/2022 13:30

30 min spin class done yesterday and today
Food is a bit hit and miss Blush but I'm not weighing as it's my period and I always weigh about 5-7lbs heavier!

Stravaig · 19/12/2022 08:05

Lost 1.1 kg in the past week. The scale flickered upwards this morning, but I am ignoring that 🤣

whyhere · 19/12/2022 08:09

A not unexpected small gain, as my job means that I have to attend lots of social events at this time of year, and I can't get away with eating nothing at all!

So, a pound onto my weight (so just one pound over goal weight) but waist measurement has remained the same.

Fortunately this week is quiet, socially, so I can be very focused to give me a bit of leeway for Christmas. (That's the plan, anyway!)

Do you have any foods that you simply have to avoid, or you just keep eating it? Mine is definitely chocolate - not going to risk even one tiny one, despite it being Christmas.

Runnerduck34 · 19/12/2022 10:20

So I weigh exactly the same as last week 76.7kg .
Not an ounce lost or gained.
Given its Xmas season I'm ( kind of !)content with that.
I have another Xmas meal tonight then I will try and be good til Xmas eve!
I have hurt my back - probably by wrapping presents sitting on the floor and also doing lots of walking, carrying heavy bags . Honestly feel like I'm 100 , first my knee( which has improved) and now my back. So any exercise is out of the window at the moment struggled even to bend down and pull scales out from underneath bathroom cabinet lol!

Runnerduck34 · 19/12/2022 11:23

@stravaig that's amazing 👏
@whyhere I think a pound gain over silly season isn't too bad!
For me it's also chocolates, as soon as my hand hovers over the tin of quality street I'm doomed!
And between Xmas and New year it will be the temptation of cheese and crackers in front of the telly....
I just don't want to gain everything I've ( very) slowly lost over the past 2-3 months in a week!

Sodullincomparison · 19/12/2022 18:56

I can join this past Christmas weigh in with the new scaled arrival tomorrow.

well done 👏 to all who continue to lose.

I can’t have anything in the house that is sweet. So we will limit that over Christmas as much as possible.

xx

Stravaig · 19/12/2022 20:08

@whyhere Chocolate for me too. I've spent a lot of time experimenting to find the things which are delicious but not moreish. They are the only allowed treats.

For me that's fancypants dark chocolate. I enjoy just a little every day, but never want to scoff the lot. Unfortunately it's also very expensive! So when I run out (I just have: spectacularly bad planning) I enter the danger zone of eyeing up jars of chocolate spread, giant trays of Ferrero Rocher and Cadbury sharing bags THIRTEEN HUNDRED CALORIES.

Dark choc chip shortbread and chocolate biscotti are also safe. They're satisfying in winter but also very dry so I only want 1 or 2 (mostly :)

🥳 Maintaining or a temporary upward fluctuation surrounded by festive temptations is heroic, so well done everyone!!

Sodullincomparison · 19/12/2022 21:27

I Received sooooo many ferrero rocher last week. DD said the best present was biscuits.

All the veg has arrived for this week and the cheeseboard!!!!

temptation is here.

Stravaig · 20/12/2022 14:23

Thwarted! Foiled! Saved from myself! Huge box of Ferrero out of stock. I decided the small box wasn't worth my time. Weirdo.

Made a fresh batch of chickpea curry, ready for when the weather dips again.
Red onion, garlic, mild curry paste, chickpeas, coconut milk, lime juice, sugar, salt, multicoloured cherry tomatoes, spinach, basil, coriander. Gently warming.

Fuck I'm so lardy, I've hit peak fatness and need to sort it out.
illiterato · 23/12/2022 11:56

God I need some of that curry. On my way back from Switzerland. Have scoffed all the food and skulled all the booze ( proper commitment to apres ski). Actually looking forward to January as just cannot eat or drink anymore. We did ski but definitely not enough to offset it all. Ah well. That’s what holidays are for I guess.
