It would appear that all I do is stuff my face with crap, lots of crap.

I'm going to try and sort myself out, starting tomorrow.

I'm scared, I'm useless at dieting but it's getting serious. I'm so unhappy, I caught sight of myself in the window walking past Costa coffee today. It was grim.

Anyone want to join me?

Weigh day tomorrow.

Well that was a disaster ( or maybe a sign of too good a party) - 4lbs up this week.

my mind is blown.

Runnerduck34 · 28/11/2022 07:59

Sympathies @Sodullincomparison
I have gained 0.5kg this week. I'm premenstrual but I know I've eaten too much, had weekend revolving around meeting family and friends and eating and drinking, window of eating abandoned, not eating healthy food etc. I need to pull it back, the closer to Xmas it gets the harder that will be.
I've also hurt my knee so exercising and even walking the dogs is limited.
But I don't want to gain the 3-4kg I've lost since October. Going to try and focus!

whyhere · 28/11/2022 08:01

Monday weigh-in day so here I am 🙂

Remarkably, 3 pounds off since last week, so now at 11st 9lb. Waist up by half an inch, at 32".

Now I have a dilemma! I set my goal weight at 11.10 (I'm only 5' 6" but I'm in my sixties, and carry my weight well in that it goes all over, rather than centring on one particular area). Having reached goal, what do I do now? My reason for losing weight has always been health, rather than appearance, and I know that if I go much lower I will start to look unwell (my face becomes a bit gaunt). Having said that, the BMi charts (I know, I know!) say I should be a maximum of 11st 2lb, which sounds a bit low for me.

I'm very aware that this is a nice problem to have, and there is no smugness here - keeping the weight off is always much harder than losing it in the first place. So well done to the rest of you who are keeping on keeping on - if I can help anyone else, please let me know.

Stravaig · 28/11/2022 08:20

Well done everyone! 🥳 Whatever the scale says today, it's all about perseverance and more conscious eating. Feasting with friends is part of that, food for the soul.

I've lost 0.5 kg in the last 8 days. Not so impressive, until I reframe it as two whole sticks of butter, which suddenly seems a lot of fat to lose in a single week.

PaulineFowlersCardigan · 28/11/2022 08:43

Thank you @Sodullincomparison and @Stravaig 😊
@Sodullincomparison i hope it was a fab party! That 4lbs will come back off, probably a lot of salt/water retention from party foods and drinks x
I’ve stayed the same this week, but I’m ok with it, one dc birthday and soem
of the cake may have hurled itself into my mouth. With help from me!! And a couple of drinks this week too, so was expecting a gain.
got to try to balance the good with the not so great again this week as have other dc birthday and my dm’s!
I love being able to read through all your posts, and the food ideas etc, it’s definitely helping me not to spiral!
Into December this week, and I’m going to try to really push from wknd onwards.
Another 4lbs would feel great for Christmas. And I’m determined to keep going after too.

Stravaig · 28/11/2022 12:33

I've spent November re-enacting Wile E Coyote and the Road Runner cartoons. One part of me trying to cajole, trick, manoeuvre towards a desired outcome; the other part invariably outsmarting myself with a nonchalant 'meep meep' :p

Fuck I'm so lardy, I've hit peak fatness and need to sort it out.
Sodullincomparison · 28/11/2022 14:34

I’m glad - it gave me a kick to make it happen this week.

I am aiming for more colourful meals this week like @Stravaig.

Who knew Snowballs could be so dangerous??? ( that’s definitely outing because I don’t know anyone else who drinks them!!!)

well done on losing and maintaining! You are smashing it!

illiterato · 28/11/2022 15:51

Hi All- sorry- overslept and forgot to weigh. Will face the music tomorrow. For your amusement and to contrast with @Stravaig's delicious menu's, here was my Sunday menu

12am-approx 2:30pm: Many glasses of wine
9:30am can of coke
10am: can of sprite, 2 paracetamol
11am: another can of coke
3pm: piece of stollen and 2 cups of tea
6pm: 2 slices of leftover pizza, bag of crisps with tzatzki, twin, bag of mini cheddars.

Never drinking again. Still feel a bit rough today.

whyhere · 28/11/2022 16:33

Poor you!

SameKeyThough · 28/11/2022 17:01

I didn't weigh in this morning as having a bit of a mental health dip - my anxiety has been very bad and also my depression. So I haven't been eating which would normally be a good thing but as it stands I'd rather be eating and not feeling suicidal.

Stravaig · 28/11/2022 17:37

@SameKeyThough I'm sorry you're having a rough time. Have you checked in with your GP? See if they can review and tweak your medication, and refer/fast-track you to counselling. Eat something earthy and grounding, even if you don't feel like it. Stew, beans, potatoes, that kind of thing. Hang in there.

Runnerduck34 · 28/11/2022 17:38

@iilliterato sounds a great diet plan you should market it🤣

@samekeythough
I'm sorry you are feeling so low, please be kind to yourself, we are here for you.

@hairyknobsandbroomsticks, how are you doing?

Stravaig · 28/11/2022 17:46

@illiterato 🤣That is glorious! You poor thing, are you restored to health yet?

SameKeyThough · 28/11/2022 17:50

@Stravaig, thank you, I saw my psychiatrist today, I'm in the process of switching antidepressants and am at the unfortunate stage of having withdrawn off one and the new one not having kicked in yet. I've only eaten a couple of biscuits and a banana today, will try and have something wholesome like eggs for dinner which I can usually manage even when I'm very anxious.
@Runnerduck34 thank you, I appreciate that.

Stravaig · 28/11/2022 18:04

@SameKeyThough Well done. The transition can be rough. Healthy routines will see you through, keep doing what you know to be important for your wellbeing - good nutrition, rest, warmth, etc. Make the eggs and eat the eggs. Discipline not desire. Hopefully things will settle soon.

Sodullincomparison · 28/11/2022 18:26

@illiterato that made me chuckle! I think that might have been my undoing this weekend.

Today I had a cheese salad sandwich at 2pm and a tuna sandwich at 5pm. A very dull day food wise.

I ate School lunch four times last week- that could have contributed. I’m going to weigh each morning to see what’s going on.

On Friday it is a night away and out with friends. These are ones I can be upfront with and say I can’t be tucking in to a full feast.

Sodullincomparison · 28/11/2022 19:04

Well done @ReginaPerrin!!!

Runnerduck34 · 28/11/2022 19:37

@SameKeyThough Hope youve eaten, changing meds is tough but worth it, hang on in there

PaulineFowlersCardigan · 28/11/2022 21:33

@Stravaig the wile coyote I definitely get 😂
@Sodullincomparison I drink snowballs at Christmas, and I thought it was only me!
@illiterato I’m sorry you’re feeling rough, but I am jealous of your day!
@SameKeyThough sorry to hear that, Take time for you and be kind to yourself x

Stravaig · 29/11/2022 07:09

Today is the beginning of my third month. I lost 2.6 kg in the past 31 days 🥳

Compared to 6.5 kg in month 1 😫 I didn't do anything different food wise. Possibly cystitis plus D-Mannose derailed the efficient fat burning of the first month? Perhaps it's a peri/menopause effect? Or?

However. Must not let impatience or frustration make me Eeyoreish!

🌟Milestones last month: under 75 🥳 a third of the way there 🥳 lost 10% body weight 🥳

Onwards!

whyhere · 29/11/2022 07:52

@Stravaig Well I think you're doing brilliantly!

illiterato · 29/11/2022 08:51

@SameKeyThough Sorry you are feeling low and fingers crossed that your medication change makes all the difference.

@Stravaig Well done. 2.6kg is still between 1-2lb a week and they say that 1-2lbs is the most sustainable level of weightless.

@whyhere I am similar in that I am heavy compared to how I look and there comes a definite face vs arse size trade off once you reach a certain age- I can have a flabby stomach and a bony chest simultaneously- the joys of middle age!!. Maybe maintain for a month and see how you feel.

@Sodullincomparison snowballs not my thing but I'll have a Baileys with you!

@PaulineFowlersCardigan well done on staying the same despite the borthday cake curveball

@Runnerduck34 that's frustrating- do you know what's wrong with your knee?

Also guys, I realised I wrote 12am -2:30pm for my wine drinking- I did not actually go on a 14 hour all night bender. Way too old for that. I meant 2:30am. Went to a party Saturday night that started at 7pm and ended at 2:30am but I only included the bit that fell into Sunday. Hope that clears that up Grin

Anyway, reason for posting - delayed weigh in today at 70kg on the nose so still up from PB but down slightly on last week which is quite miraculous all things considered. I reckon I am down 4.5kg fat and up 1 kg muscle as legs and arms definitely getting more defined. I may yet regain my "quadzilla" glory.

Well that was a disaster ( or maybe a sign of too good a party) - 4lbs up this week.

my mind is blown.

Me too @Sodullincomparison !!😂 me it was a total blow out long weekend with farrr to much wine and bread ! And potatoes !

Back on track..... I'm sure it won't be as bad as it's seems.. aiming for 15" 5 again on Monday.

Sodullincomparison · 29/11/2022 17:44

@illiterato your times did make me think that was a punchy drinking session 😂😂

@AnnieHoooo I thought you might reach the 14s this week. Mmmmm bread and wine- a winning combination.

im two pounds down from yesterday morning. By doing this thread it’s the same pattern. I do great and then eat out or have a drink and it throws my whole body out for days so I guess I can’t have ‘cheat days’ once a week.

will this thread fill up soon?
