Fuck I'm so lardy, I've hit peak fatness and need to sort it out.

It would appear that all I do is stuff my face with crap, lots of crap.

I'm going to try and sort myself out, starting tomorrow.

I'm scared, I'm useless at dieting but it's getting serious. I'm so unhappy, I caught sight of myself in the window walking past Costa coffee today. It was grim.

Anyone want to join me?

Weigh day tomorrow.

PaulineFowlersCardigan · 29/11/2022 20:48

@illiterato I did think that was a good session 😂

PaulineFowlersCardigan · 29/11/2022 20:50

Oh posted too soon! Today has been a good day,
man’s I didn’t have any cake so a win in my book, as I’ve never met a cake I didn’t like!

Sodullincomparison · 29/11/2022 21:14

@PaulineFowlersCardigan that’s definitely a win!

DH out for football so had six starburst for dinner. I said I would add more colour this week. 😂

just chopped celery and cucumber for work snacks for tomorrow with little tomatoes.

SameKeyThough · 30/11/2022 12:30

@Sodullincomparison that’s my kind of dinner!. I was feeling a little bit better last night so had some toast and some chocolate. Dinner of champions. I finally weighed in this morning and am 12.12, so a 2 pound loss. Which considering I've been eating about 500 calories a day due to my terrible anxiety just goes to show how much the pills I'm taking cling on to every calorie. In pre evil fat pills days I would have lost half a stone at least eating that little for nearly a week.
Am greatly enjoying this thread. Full of people who eat as randomly as me 😀

Stravaig · 30/11/2022 14:00

It's wintey bean stew weather!

Red onion, fresh rosemary, red pepper, chorizo, butter beans, cavolo nero, tinned tomatoes, smidge sugar, fig balsamic. I'm never sure until it's served, but this is a good one.

whyhere · 30/11/2022 15:08

Just done a whole load of batch cooking, created new recipes for it on the app I use, and am delighted to see how low in calories my tofu in black bean sauce is!

Sodullincomparison · 30/11/2022 19:52

@stravaig how do you have the time to make such delicious and inspired dinners?

I had a boring tuna wrap for lunch and DH made a rich tomato and meatball sauce with rigatoni for dinner.

I had two mini gingerbread men and two truffles throughout the day.

the weekend weight and bloating is reducing. Down 3 pounds from Monday morning.

Stravaig · 30/11/2022 20:34

@Sodullincomparison Thank you 😊

It's just me here, so a family potful is batch cooking! The bean stew got decanted into glass jars, half to eat this week, half in the icebox. It's actually quite repetitive, same thing day after day.

Chronic illness has made me very strategic about where my effort goes, and how much nutrition I pack into the meals I do make. The ingredients are mostly basic staples, but I try to manage a few special items like the aromatic oils & fig balsamic.

It mostly works - but then I don't have to work around multiple family members, each with contrary preferences. So much easier! The downside is, it would have been so, so helpful to have someone cooking for me when I was at my illest.

Sodullincomparison · 30/11/2022 21:32

You have such delicious ingredients- they sound fabulous. Do you like eating similar meals?

So sorry to hear you’ve had it tough. It’s an impressive way to approach cooking- maximum nutrition for amount of effort.

we have one meal option In our house and we work best with a meal plan. DH and DD would never have the same meal twice nor even take leftovers for lunch. We aren’t very organised as a family though but we are also not fussy and would eat anything out in front of us!

Stravaig · 30/11/2022 23:02

@Sodullincomparison I feel a lovely warm glow for non fussy eaters like your family! It's rewarding to cook for people who will try different foods.

It wouldn't be my choice, to eat the same things, but I'm used to it, and I don't have the energy or money to do otherwise. It's a good incentive to make the food as tasty as possible!

Even without illness, it's expensive and fiddly for a person eating alone to maintain the ingredients to cook different nutritious meals from scratch every day. A proper freezer helps, so you can batch cook and have raw ingredients to hand. I do my best with the icebox compartment of a small fridge 🤷‍♀️

Good quality ready foods are pricey, so my choice was between crappier ready foods or repetitive home cooked food. In other phases of my life I made my living growing organic vegetables, so no dilemma really 🌶️🥕🥦🍠🧄🧅🍅

illiterato · 01/12/2022 13:21

@Stravaig agree- it's hard to balance variety and food waste/cost. I'm the only adult here so my diet tends to be fairly repetitive. I do use the freezer to mix it up a bit and I'm that annoying person who forages at the back of the shelves to get a slightly longer date on things but it's annoying being the only person who eats bread or hummus or mozzarella. Eat halloumi quite a lot purely because it's long dated.

@Sodullincomparison Love the Starburst- "eat the rainbow". Reminds me of when my PT asked me what I had for breakfast and I had to confess to "a Jaffa cake and a handful of jelly babies"

Non-scales victory today. Managed to get a pair of jeans done up that I bought online in the summer and there was about a 3 inch gap between the button and the button hole- no amount of lying on the bed and breathing in was going to get those to meet. Still probably couldn't sit down comfortably in them but baby steps!! Maybe I'll be able to wear them by Christmas.

Stravaig · 01/12/2022 15:33

@illiterato With you on the longer dates, and the halloumi!

Congratulations on your svelte jeans figure 🥳

Sodullincomparison · 01/12/2022 19:01

@illiterato well done on the jeans!!! That’s a great success. the scales are good but getting into smaller clothes is the winner!!

@Stravaig ahhh you used to grow organic veg- that explains the casual use of cavalo nero! 🤣 I think you eat much better than most people.

Today, I had some veggie lasagne at lunch ( kids portion as our new chef is a bit mean with portions) and a half sandwich mid afternoon and we just had some chicken breasts in a tomato and chilli sauce.

our Lunches are pretty fancy for schools which means DD gets a healthy lunch filled with many portions of veg. Don’t worry - I don’t feed her starbursts for dinner.

I did have some chocolate buttons though today!

the weekend weight is all off- four pounds gone - now I need to find the weekend culprit which is making me bloat and retain water. I think it must be bread and Brie! ( And snowballs perhaps)

Stravaig · 01/12/2022 20:30

@Sodullincomparison Fab that the partying resolved itself so quickly!

🥬 I do love my vegetables, including my dark greens. Though cavolo nero is just a variety of kale, and plants like kale and seaweed are very ordinary foods here historically. I think they're only considered fancy outwith the Highlands.

Pre-empting the day I casually throw samphire or dulse in something, and you all think I'm a gourmet chef 🤣

Sodullincomparison · 01/12/2022 21:32

One of my uni friends from Skye used to eat massive bowls of greens several times a week. Nobody else in our student flat did!

illiterato · 01/12/2022 21:40

God - when I was at Uni I lived on pasta pesto and toast.. I ate hardly any fruit and veg. I’m amazed I didn’t get scurvy or something. I love greens now.

SameKeyThough · 02/12/2022 10:45

@illiterato well done on the jeans. I can't get into my jeans at the moment but don't want to buy new ones. I think I'm waiting for a magical day where, because I'm withdrawing from one of my fat making pills, the extra wright just disappears. Not sure that's going to happen. Annoyed at myself as my other pills causes restless legs as well as food cravings/metabolic issues, so I ended up getting out of bed last night and standing in the kitchen eating cereal and toast. It's like I was in a carb trance. Can't wait to be off these pills too but also scared to come of them. So fed up with being fat. I literally have nothing to wear. One outfit of loose trousers and a jumper.
@Stravaig very impressed with all the greenery. I literally just eat toast and rich tea biscuits at the moment.

Jenasaurus · 03/12/2022 12:58

Sorry, I havent been on this thread much lately, I am still on track and now under 10 stone for the first time in ages, I started on 1st July at 14 stone 4 and was shocked into taking action by a diagnosis of Diabetes, so have been eating 1200 calories a day and cut my carbs to a max of 130g a day and each week have lost between 1-4 pounds (higher amounts at the start of my journey) my body composition scales tell me my fat is too high at 38% (it was almost 50 so its come down considerably and my visceral fat is ok) despite having a healthy BMI, and it is correct I still have subcutaneous fat on my belly :)

Anyway, I wanted to share today's breakfast with you as it was only 14g of carbs and 414 calories and has set me up for the day. I had 2 vegan sausages, 2 poached eggs, 2 grilled rashers of bacon, grilled tomatoes and a benecol drink together with a cup of black coffee.

Before anyone says I have burnt the bacon and tomatoes, I like them burnt :) It is the first time I have poached eggs, normally have them scrambled, boiled or fried, I think I may have poached some years ago in a poaching pan but didnt have one, so bought some Pouchies, or pouchletts, cant remember the name but you basically drop an egg in them and then place in the boiling water to cook, well the egg plopped straight in the pouch and promptly into the mug, so I just popped them in the boiling water without the pouch, they came out OK, although one was cooked to perfection, I like them runny in the middle, the other was slightly overcooked but still edible.

I hope everyone is doing well, I am going to have a read back on this thread to see what I have missed :)

This may make you smile, having managed to fit into my little black marilyn dress which actually has a waist rather than just hangs, I proudly did a little dance for my tiktok, only to walk backwards onto a plug from the christmas lights! I think I have covered my pain well in this! Pride comes before a fall they say and it certainly did for me, that will teach me to show off my weight loss!

@Jenasaurus You are doing amazingly, congratulations! 🥳💃

Thank you :) I am going to be challenged tonight as having a meal with my eldest son, he is free tonight as his girlfriend is visiting her mum so we have booked a vintage inn festive menu for tonight, and all the options look like I will gain weight just be reading it!

Stravaig · 03/12/2022 15:26

@Jenasaurus Enjoy ~ a night off does no lasting harm, and there is recent thread research to prove it!

Stravaig · 03/12/2022 15:31

First thing: blue tea, green tea, wee bit of dark chocolate
Meal 1: half an odds and ends frittata; apple and crowdie
Meal 2: panful of rainbow carrots and cavolo nero, with beef strips, brambles, rosemary; piece of dark choc chip shortbread

Look, lovely colours! (5 seconds after the plate photo I jumbled it together into a delicious mess :)

Tomorrow will be much the same - the other half frittata, the rest of the prepped vegetables. I'll cook the cavolo nero and beef with chestnuts and balsamic, and keep the carrots raw, mixed together with some coriander leaf.

Fuck I'm so lardy, I've hit peak fatness and need to sort it out.

@Jenasaurus Enjoy ~ a night off does no lasting harm, and there is recent thread research to prove it!

I had a lovely night out, had the turkey and cheeseboard, but my DS had my pigs in blankets, Yorkshire and one parsnip and roast Potatoe, I had all the veg, turkey a mouthful of yorkshire and one Potatoe, they included the calories on the menu, it I ate it all it was 1680 calories! so I hopefully reduced it by sharing with my DS, I had some cheddar, a little brie and red leicester with some chutney but didn't eat the crackers, had probably a whole bottle of red wine and a gin and slimline tonic, we walked a lot though as went to a pub a long way off after eating, today I have gained a pound or so the scales say but lost fat, how is that possible, I did fall top to bottom of the winding stairs in the pub after visiting the loo and have a massive bruise on my bum, but thanks to the alcohol I didn't feel a thing! :)
