I am 5"3 and weighed in yesterday at 15st 8.5! Heaviest I have been in a very long time 😭 feeling unfit and unattractive. I have so much going on and know that I am sabotaging myself and comfort eating due to tiredness but can't let anymore weight creep on. I am going on holiday next summer and Therefore am going to make that my goal. To be feeling healthier and more confident for next Aug. Going to return to MFP and back to tracking what I eat. Feel free to join me x

@Iwantniceclothes well done 4.5lbs is a few packs of butter...

Iwantniceclothes · 01/12/2022 17:36

Well now you come to mention it, it is a lot of butter! Or lard! Actually it’s probably really water but still if it stays away I’m happy.

Iwantniceclothes · 03/12/2022 00:40

I’m away for the weekend so I’m hoping not to do too much damage. Had a lovely dinner but it was fish so hopefully not too bad and we walked absolutely miles. I think it’ll be fine.

newme4lanzarote23 · 03/12/2022 08:53

Hope you enjoy your weekend @Iwantniceclothes. My willpower is up for a test this weekend too. Taking my grandma out for a pub lunch today and next weekend I am out again with my best friend. Lead up to Christmas is definitely going to be a challenge. I'm just hoping I can just stay sensible for the majority of the time.

Well my weekend away wasn’t great on the diet front compounded by being so tired yesterday I ate all the wrong things. Back on it today though hoping the damage hasn’t been too great. Saw some old photos of myself and I can’t believe how fat my face has gotten! How did I not notice!

greenerfingers · 06/12/2022 20:08

May I join? I always say I'll make changes and never do. I'm mentally preparing myself to make changes starting Monday. I have 4 stone at least to lose for now..

Iwantniceclothes · 06/12/2022 22:07

Hi @greenerfingers. I think it can be a good idea to take a few days clearing out the rubbish and getting the good food in - hard at this time of year admittedly. I've been saying I'm starting for about 13 years now and have just got fatter but vanity has got the better of me finally and I really DO want nice clothes! Do you have a rough plan in mind?

greenerfingers · 07/12/2022 04:51

Well I've been trying to lose weight for 3 years now but instead have been gaining. It's finally got to enough now and I need change.

I'm currently a week post partum. My biggest mistake in the past was that I breastfed for a couple years (always being told it'll help me lose weight too) and ate terribly, increasing my calorie intake as well as junk and ended up increasing in even more weight once I stopped (although portion sizes stayed the same or less). Perhaps it was hormonal but I added a stone and half upon stopping out of nowhere. After I'd spent ages losing it!

The plan this time is simple on paper but just hope I can stick to it, stick to enough calories to breastfeed and heal, no snacking in between and eating healthy wholesome meals rather than any junk I can find. I've made a meal plan and don't plan on cooking or moving too much for another week so will wait till my husband is back at work and then start. I'm nervous and worried what if I don't lose anything due to hormones etc but need to try and be positive. I also plan on trying to walk every couple days for 10/15 minutes.

newme4lanzarote23 · 07/12/2022 07:11

Welcome @greenerfingers. I have to confess I've had a dreadful two days! After being pretty sensible over the weekend despite being out I completely lost it on Monday. Had a huge portion of sausage and mash and 3 chocolate biscuits and yesterday I binged on a doughnut and biscuits! I need to get control of the need to eat when I am tired and stressed. 5 mins back at work and I'm back to old habits the second I am in the door! As a result I am back up to 14st 8 and 3/4 today. Not good. Going to try my best to get back on it today.

I'm having good days and not so good days, and the not so good days are meals that contain bread, for quickness.
Toast for breakfast, seeded bread, which in itself isn't to bad but involves a good layer of butter, I've tried the scrapping of butter but the marmite doesn't look good..

More bread a lunchtime, again a quick grab easy to prepare sandwich, not so much butter, does contain greenery, but that is 4 slices so far, crisps and a chocolate snack bar....or two.
And if evening meal is salad based one of those bake off rolls.

Old habits...took years to make so can we really expect to break them so quickly....let's be fair none of us got over weight over night either so expecting weight to fall off quickly isn't going to happen...but it is darn annoying that I can't seem to stick to eating healthier for more than a few days...

Not giving in this time though...
Summer bodies are made in winter months, so it's said...

greenerfingers · 22/12/2022 12:49

I've had a good week, weekend I had treats and took a break and back to it again this week. Started with something simple and just aimed to cut snacking out and have big meals. Will aim to turn those into smaller meals spread more through the day but want to get my love of junk out of the way first. Mine is mainly comfort eating. I feel mentally better even though I've only lost a measly 1lb in 2 weeks.

Bluevases · 25/12/2022 18:27

May I join? I need to lose 4-5 stone and am starting 1st Jan. I'm committed but it seems such a lot to lose...😐

I've also a fair amount to lose and have decided to focus on losing it in 7lb stages as it's a bit daunting to think of the weight as a whole.

greenerfingers · 25/12/2022 21:20

I agree about doing 7lb increments at a time @Bluevases. It's the only way we can get it done slowly slow.

Bluevases · 26/12/2022 13:13

That makes sense, thank you!

I've 'kind of' made a start today. I'll still eat more Christmas stuff than is ideal but I'm being mindful about it eg. I'll have a large Baileys this evening but the calories of a mince pie are just not worth it. I'm just getting over the lurgy so I hope I'll be able to walk more too.

Not an easy time to start eating healthier especially if you've got left over Christmas nibbles to finish off.
Cold meats and salad, which I enjoy will be my next few days meals....and a few of those nibbles...
But new year new start.

newme4lanzarote23 · 26/12/2022 16:33

Hi everyone. Welcome to the newcomers. I have to admit I have lost it completely!!! Christmas has killed me. I'm restarting on the 3rd when I go back to work. To much nice food in the house. New year, new start. Well done to everyone that has had better willpower than me xx

Im starting the 2nd. Got guests coming new years eve so no point stopping and starting til then also have turkish delight, nice cheeses and biscuits and other lovely stuff and cant expect DH to scoff it all. Must admit though im a bit fed up with rich food.

chalkyc2 · 27/12/2022 09:20

Rejoining and transferring over from my own failed thread - I thought if I actually started one myself I might stick to it!! But nope.

Interested to see what diet solutions are working in here. I'm currently in despair but need to pick myself up and sort myself out.

You and me both OP. I fell off the wagon after a few months of being f on this thread (under another name), and put the weight back on. I've just weighed myself this morning and OMG! I'm pretty disgusted with myself tbh. I'm back at work on the 3rd so will join you in starting again

Crumpleton · 27/12/2022 11:41

That time inbetween Christmas day and New year's day....
No man's time, what to do, waiting for a new start.
Eating fest.

StampOnTheGround · 28/12/2022 19:34

Haven't been on this thread for ages, lost my way a bit - didn't gain more than 4lbs luckily but wasn't close to losing either! 😂

I've actually been poorly the last 48 hours so have dropped a little so am now 14st exactly (the only perk!). I'll be starting properly again on the 3rd Jan too and really pushing on from there!

newme4lanzarote23 · 03/01/2023 07:35

Right, here we go again! Back up to 15st 😪 eaten way too much over Christmas and done zero exercise! Have actually eaten really sensibly for the last 2 days so god knows how much I would have weighed if I'd have braved the scales on Sunday! Need to keep going this time because I am feeling dreadful!

OP posts:
Crumpleton · 03/01/2023 07:58

Morning...
Yes I also braved the scales.
Not a pretty sight but it's done.
A few bits still left over from Christmas but will eat them as and when, I've frozen remaining mince pies and will just remove and defrost one at a time when I plan it in with my days foods.
Haven't done a food shop since Christmas week but I'll only buy fresh bits as now is a good time to use up pretty much all the food cupboard/freezer stock, oh how often have I said that and still bought the same items.
