newme4lanzarote23 · 29/08/2022 07:54

I am 5"3 and weighed in yesterday at 15st 8.5! Heaviest I have been in a very long time 😭 feeling unfit and unattractive. I have so much going on and know that I am sabotaging myself and comfort eating due to tiredness but can't let anymore weight creep on. I am going on holiday next summer and Therefore am going to make that my goal. To be feeling healthier and more confident for next Aug. Going to return to MFP and back to tracking what I eat. Feel free to join me x

Hello, would like to join:). Nearly exactly the same height and weight as you OP, except I’m currently 8/9lbs heavier. But I am 39 weeks’ pregnant and due Thursday so that should kickstart my weight loss!

@NotYourOscarSpeech congratulations, hope all goes well 👶
Welcome everyone so glad to have you with me 😊

@LadybirdsAreNeverHappy Halving the portions is a huge deficit. I would say that is definitely a win.

Thanks. I’m really not looking forward to weighing myself in the morning 🫣
I am just going to try to lose as much as I can for the moment and get fitness up a bit. Thinking of trying for 2nd baby so want to get in better shape for it. If it works out, I’ll try lose the rest and keep it off afterwards. I just haven’t been bothered. Saw almost nobody during the pandemic and just let everything slide. I didn’t really care until recently but I know in my heart I’d be happier if I was at least a couple of stone lighter.
Thanks for starting the thread. It’s given me some motivation to get started 😊

StampOnTheGround · 29/08/2022 20:39

Me please (although maybe more 4-4 and a half stone), I can't keep using the excuse I've just had a baby when he is nearly 5 months now and I've just been eating awfully!

Will need to re-weigh myself tomorrow as I've had a blow out weekend (needs to be the last!) but I think I'm 14.2 (5 foot 6)

ErinAoife · 29/08/2022 20:48

Can I be added to? Same height, not sure of my weight as sc not working but I said I am around 14 st. No motivation so hopefully this thread will be the kick in the arse that I need.

RuthW · 29/08/2022 20:50

Can I join please?

Wishihadanalgorithm · 29/08/2022 20:52

I’m not starting until Wednesday but aim to eat within a 12 hour eating window, do calorie deficit and reduce carbs as they seem to pile on the pounds for me. What plans are everyone else following?

I used the TDEE calculator that @CheshGirl linked to and it's given me a 1400 cal per day target to achieve a 500 cal deficit per day.....yikes!

Have made a big pot of veg soup for lunches and prepped overnight oats for a few days too. Have ordered some All Plants meals to have in the evening too. DH and DD are both carnivores but I'm veg. So DH can cook for them both and I'll have my All Plants meals at 400-600cals. We often eat at different times anyway as we all have various clubs / hobbies so hopefully it's not too big a deal that I'm eating differently.

Aiming for 12k steps each day too. Always get 9k due to dog walking but will try and push for a few more.

Hopefully that's enough to generate a difference!

How have you found eating in a limited window? I hear good things but not tried it myself

Blacktreacle · 29/08/2022 23:03

Hi - I’d love to join! 5ft6, 15st 11, would like to get to 12 stone, maybe 11 stone if I can get there. I’m mid 40s, perimenopausal, really need to lose it now.

I’m fairly good with exercise - run, pilates, walk 10k steps a day. Need to get weights in more consistently and be as active as I can each week but broadly going in the right direction. But my diet is a mess - I eat mostly home cooked but way way too much. The carbs and chocolate are the killer for me. And the slim husband who I eat with and who can eat what he wants 😬

Easing in over next couple of days but thinking I’ll go with Fast 800 (though it’s my birthday soon so won’t be 7 days a week Fast 800, more like 5 fast days and 2 normal) for a few weeks. Then if that goes well will look to settle into 5:2

First goal is a wedding in late Sept. I have a lovely dress but need to lose a few pounds for me to feel like it fits properly and be more confident.

C0rnflake · 29/08/2022 23:04

Me please! I Am 5ft5, was 15st 3, down to 14st 12, would like to be around 10 and a half.

Crumpleton · 29/08/2022 23:11

I'd like to join.
Signed up to nutracheck which is really good....unlike me, as I just dip in and out and make very little effort to track my calories each day.

AndYet · 29/08/2022 23:16

Evening all, I will join you and really try and stick with it this time! I am 5ft6 and 15st 5ish (will weigh in the morning). All the same things people have mentioned - knees and hips hurt, everything is more difficult, feel tired and crap ect. Starting to worry about my health as well, have family history of diabetes so I need to be careful.

I'm late 30s and I know it's just going to get harder and harder to lose so I need to get a grip on it. I eat way too many carbs and not enough fruit and veg. I also drink diet fizzy drinks, going to try and cut down and drink more water and squash.

I'm going away on 1st October so I'm planning to be very strict until then - no sugar or refined carbs, loads of water, loads of veg, chicken and full fat dairy to keep me full. Once I'm back from my holiday I will choose a more realistic long term way to eat. I'm not sure what my goal weight is at the moment.

Nice to meet you all!

YorkshireTeaCup · 29/08/2022 23:31

I would also like to join. 5'8 and 15st 6lbs. Had first baby last year - she was very ill after birth, followed by loads of feeding issues so my focus was all on her. I then developed PND and just didnt look after myself. I feel like i havent lost any of the baby weight at all. I also have PCOS which makes the weight gain worse and the weight loss harder. We want to try for baby # 2 early next year so i want to try and get as fit as i can be before we go for another round of ovulation induction.

My PCOS responds well to low carb / intermittent fasting so I'm going to try that first. Plus see if DH can have an afternoon with DD each weekend so i can get for at least one long swim a week to start with - i seem to fritter weekends away on housework and / or playing with DD until the time has gone.

Morning everyone

How is everyone feeling about today?

My plan is to cook up a storm today so we have healthy food ready and waiting.
The only glitch coming up is we are away this weekend which I would normally use as an excuse to push the fuck it button but I am going to try my very best not to do that.

I have also downloaded the active 10 app, the idea is to sign up to 10 extra minutes of brisk walking every day which seems small but is something.

Good luck everyone

RadFad · 30/08/2022 09:10

@Fatasbuggery I've woken up ready to draw a line under the last 5 days.
I'm back at work tomorrow after 2 weeks off so that will help me get back into the routine of actually having lunch instead of picking here and there and then massively overeating in the evening.

I'm going to download that app too. Sounds like a good motivator.

MmeHennyPenny · 30/08/2022 09:34

I have 3 stone to lose to get back to my pre children weight. I’ve been struggling to motivate myself for years.
I started swimming every other day a month ago, just to help my arthritis.
Yesterday I plucked up the courage to get weighed and I have lost half a stone!! I’ve not been dieting so immediately went out and bought new scales as I thought my old ones must be faulty. The new ones agree with the old. It’s given me the incentive to start properly calorie counting.
Thanks for the link above- it was helpful.
So onwards and upwards- good luck everyone.

newme4lanzarote23 · 30/08/2022 09:34

Thanks @Fatasbuggery I have downloaded the app too 🙂

Got on the scales and I’ve actually gained another half stone since last time 🙁
I’d say because I stopped bf recently.
Had porridge this morning, no extra toast or anything. Dd starting pre school tomorrow so I’m going to start going for a walk in the mornings and build up to running.
I’m also going to go shopping and buy healthier food.

Push the fuck it button 😂I’m stealing that!

MmeHennyPenny · 30/08/2022 09:46

I apologise- I missed the 5 stone loss bit! I was thinking it was an any weight loss thread.
ignore me.

Find out your TDEE

Total Daily Energy Expenditure

Basically how many calls you burn by just existing.

tdeecalculator.net

You then need to cut cals to make you in a deficit.

Do this but cutting cals, not through exercising, exercising should take off further cals on top!

I'm 5'2 and weighed 140lbs last year, now weigh 110

This is sound advice. I'ts about making sustainable life long changes. The weight will come off more slowly but is less likely to go back on.

Mannymoomin · 30/08/2022 10:01

I think this is definitely somewhere I need to be if I can join in please!
im 5ft6 and 15st10,
and need to lose around 5stone too, which is almost a third of my body weight. Saying it like that sounds really unachievable so I think I’ll aim for 10pounds a time and then reset my goal.
I’m 31 so I really need to pull my finger out before my metabolism really slows down.
I think I’m really going to try and focus on exercise

I'm in. I'm currently 7 stone down which I've kept off for 2 years but I'm 3 stone from my original goal and I'm stuck. I'm working with a dietician and I've started saxenda weight loss injections. I've starting at 16st 6lbs and I'm 5ft 8, size 20. Aim is to be a 16 and honestly I will be happy there. I use mfp to track calories and my biggest issue currently is I eat too much sugar and need to reduce this.

I've a bit more than 5 stone to lose and like you find it unachievable when said in one go.
I'll be breaking it down into 7lb blocks then hopefully won't find it so daunting.

I don't think anyone will mind you staying.
Hoping this is going to be more of a 'come on mumsnetters we can do this by supporting each other' thread rather than the normal everyday stuff on here.
Sometimes it's not easy especially if like me you eat your emotions, happy, sad, fed up...I eat.
