I am 5"3 and weighed in yesterday at 15st 8.5! Heaviest I have been in a very long time 😭 feeling unfit and unattractive. I have so much going on and know that I am sabotaging myself and comfort eating due to tiredness but can't let anymore weight creep on. I am going on holiday next summer and Therefore am going to make that my goal. To be feeling healthier and more confident for next Aug. Going to return to MFP and back to tracking what I eat. Feel free to join me x

Welcome to everyone that as joined 😊 first full week back at work, college, training placement etc next week. That will be the real challenge for me. As soon as I'm tired and stressed the comfort food starts creeping in. Hopefully I can stay strong 💪

@newme4lanzarote23

You can do it, tiredness, stress eating and darker nights are tough but won't stop the ball once it gets rolling.

That's my first hurdle. Getting the ball rolling. I did a good food shop today, lots of greens, nuts, healthy protein. I did a quick recce with vitamins and settled on a multi-vit for women to start with....

I always try too hard to change too much at once, so this week will be 16:8 intermittent fasting, healthy snacks and vitamins. And that's it - no calorie counting yet. I'll make one change every week until it gets comfortable and add something else. I have a bit of a challenge getting fit and feeling good!

Here is to the next week everyone!

NeedToMakeAStart · 04/09/2022 20:52

@Riverskye

I can't eat cottage cheese either! I would be interested if you find a way to make it palatable....

Good morning all

I am back from my weekend and although I definitely wasn't perfect , I was better than I could have been.
Have weighed this morning and I am 5 pounds down from when I joined which I am delighted with. I know a lot of that is water weight but I don't care 😁
Back to school proper today so going to be organised about food and make sure my water bottle is full.

Meal planning later which always helps.

Good luck and happy Monday !

TooHotToTangoToo · 05/09/2022 07:40

Not a great weekend eating wise, but it could (and usually was) a lot worse so I'm happy. My first full week weigh in tomorrow

chalkyc2 · 05/09/2022 08:29

Ok - I've had a weekend of prep and time to get my head in the right place. 12 week plan (fast 800) starts today! Morning weigh in done. I've had my breakfast smoothie and all set for work with big bottle of water and a pret salad (healthy eating saviour!). Let's go!

AndYet · 05/09/2022 11:06

Here's to a good week everyone!

I'm back up to 15st1 this morning (my start weight last Tue)... trying not to be disheartened as I had a day off on Saturday (pre planned social event) plus had salty food yesterday.

I've just had some yoghurt with flax and an apple, planning salad with tuna tonight and will snack on carrot/babybel at lunch. Hopefully will drop back down at least 1lb so I can register a loss on proper weigh in tomorrow!

TooHotToTangoToo · 05/09/2022 11:12

@AndYet could you move your weigh in until Tuesday, that way you get a more accurate measurement, having the ability to eat well on Monday, and stop the usual 'high salt' weigh ins

Riverskye · 05/09/2022 13:11

@NeedToMakeAStart I return with my cottage cheese experiment results 😁

Still not a fan of the chunky version HOWEVER it blends really well! I blended the entire tub on high for about 2 minutes and the texture is like a thick, creamy, yogurt. Tried half with salt, herbs, garlic and parmesan on wholewheat pasta and it was delicious! The rest I added some lemon flavouring and sweetener to make a cheesecake style filling and it was also really tasty. 10/10 would recommend blending cottage cheese!

Going to start subbing it for things in my usual recipes from now on for that extra protein 😊

ShoopShoop · 05/09/2022 14:15

Hi All

Hope everyone is ok.

I've managed my 12k steps everyday this last week and kept to my calories apart from Thursday when I had dinner out with friends.

Lost 3.2kg which I'm really pleased with. I expect this weeks loss will be much smaller but trying to think of this as a marathon not a sprint!

Does anyone else struggle with feelings of impatience?! I know it's taken me 40 years to get to this sorry state but I just want to be "normal" right now....not in the many, many months this is going to take me 😭😭

TooHotToTangoToo · 05/09/2022 15:06

I'm with you @ShoopShoop I always feel so much better in myself when I'm motivated, but frustrated I'm not suddenly a size 10 Grin

LeanQuizzine · 05/09/2022 18:06

Yes @shoopshoop I feel exactly the same which usually means a crash diet which means failure which means no further along really. Trying my best to keep in mind that it will take time. Hard though isn't it?

Riverskye · 05/09/2022 18:18

@ShoopShoop I feel exactly the same way, I know it's taken me years to get here so will take years to really get where I want to be. I'm honestly a little ashamed of myself for letting myself get to this position 😕

I'm trying not to think about it though and just taking each day as it comes!

I think part of it for me is that I'm surrounded by people my size and bigger, so I never realised just how big I got, especially over lockdown. It wasn't until we had a face to face party for work and going to a wedding recently did I realise just how big I am.

I'm definitely doing my official weigh in on Tuesdays as that was the day I started. I weigh every day though as I find it keeps me on track, though can be annoying when it goes up instead of down!

Crumpleton · 05/09/2022 23:52

Checking in late tonight...Had a terrible night last night sleep wise tossed and turned all night.
Started off with porridge for breakfast then it went downhill from there....ate about 4 chocolate snack bars throughout the day along with biscuits a cheese sandwich and packet of Crisps..
Anyone else go off piste when tired?

Crinkletinkle · 06/09/2022 04:50

@Crumpleton yes tiredness makes a huge difference to me too. I've had some bad nights sleep over the past week and the following evening I feel uncontrollably hungry for sugar and fat.

TooHotToTangoToo · 06/09/2022 06:59

I'm gutted, first weigh in, had a really successful week, has a bit less of a successful weekend, but so much better than I'd normally have, weighed in and I've only lost 1lb. Was hoping for more considering it's week 1.

newme4lanzarote23 · 06/09/2022 07:06

Yes, @Crumpleton tiredness is a big trigger for me too. 9/10 times stress and being tired is what drives me to give up. I need to learn that if I have a blip it doesn't me I have to completely lose it. Hope you got a better night's sleep and have a good day today xx

NeedToMakeAStart · 06/09/2022 07:21

@Riverskye Thanks for the update 😀 i will put it on my shopping list for the weekend and give it a try.... still not sure about it but it is healthy protein and I need lots of that!

@ShoopShoop Impatience has always been a problem for me. I am not sure how I am going to manage that. I have so many different areas to work on. Lose weight, get physically more active, start taking better care of myself, I am just looking at it as a series of mini-goals and not one big goal? And each mini goal will make me feel better? But I'm only setting the mini goals. My first one is 7lbs. I'll probably go to the cinema when I reach that. Then it will be something like start a class at the gym and reward myself with some magazines. Just need to keep going! That's the only thing that works. As long as you are doing something for your health, every day. That's got to count?

@TooHotToTangoToo Oh I'm sorry, I have been there. I always think a week is not really a good measurement though, I always found when I looked at monthly losses they tended to even out. And I am going to say that annoying thig everyone says! a pound is still a pound. It's half a bag of sugar! REALLY well done on having a good week last week though, if you keep it up then the scales will show it! Don't let the scales win! You have got this!!!!

My first day was okay. Looking forward to getting into a routine with the IF though. I'm used to snacking whenever I feel like it (not good at all)

Hope everyone has a fabulous Tuesday!

newme4lanzarote23 · 06/09/2022 07:30

@ShoopShoop I am the same. I have been weighing in daily because it normally helps me stay motivated and in track but for the last five days the scale hasn't budged. Lost 6lbs very quickly and enjoyed the excitement of seeing the weight drop. Now I'm getting impatient 🤣

FartOutLoudDay · 06/09/2022 07:38

Lack of sleep increases the amount of hunger hormone and rescues the amount of satiety hormone in your body so is a big driver of eating more!

FartOutLoudDay · 06/09/2022 12:11

Reduces - not rescues 😁

Riverskye · 06/09/2022 18:33

Had a positive day today, yogurt with granola for breakfast, toasted cheese and ham panini for lunch and then some soup for dinner.

Weighed in at 16stone on the button so down 4lbs from last week, I'm hopeful to get into the 15s this week.

feliznavidad2 · 06/09/2022 22:15

Joining tomorrow... posting for accountability. Hoping fairly new baby sleeps tonight as that has a big impact on my ability not to search like a crazy woman for a sugar hit.

porkmarkets · 06/09/2022 23:02

Hello, can I join. Started last week at 18 stone 1 Blush current weight 17 stone 11 1/4. Mini goal is 15 stone 7 which gets my BMI under 40. Realistically I'd like to get to 12 stone or as close as possible in the long term. I'll never be thin and I'm ok with that, but I need to be healthier for my kids.

Im using the Nutracheck app and it's fab. I can't believe how much easier dieting is than it used to be even 5 years ago. Skinny bars are a revelation!
