I am 5"3 and weighed in yesterday at 15st 8.5! Heaviest I have been in a very long time 😭 feeling unfit and unattractive. I have so much going on and know that I am sabotaging myself and comfort eating due to tiredness but can't let anymore weight creep on. I am going on holiday next summer and Therefore am going to make that my goal. To be feeling healthier and more confident for next Aug. Going to return to MFP and back to tracking what I eat. Feel free to join me x

It's about changing habits. I go to Pilates and then swim on a Tuesday. I was stopping at the shops and buying a bag of crisps and chocolate bar as a "reward" on the way home. So basically eating the calories I'd just worked off. Really daft when I write it down and read it. I've stopped that habit and make sure I have a bottle of cold fizzy water and a banana/apple with me for the post exercise munchies.

thesugarbumfairy · 30/08/2022 11:34

Yeah I'm in.
I'm currently on a mission to lose 2st (actually needs to be 6st but I have a shorter term goal as I'm getting a hip replacement in November and I doubt I'll be thinking about weight loss just after my op)
I have lost a stone so far but put a few pounds on after my holidays and struggling to get back in the 'zone' and time is running out!
I use Nutracheck - I find the only way for me to lose weight is to do it sensibly and just cut calories. I can't exercise but then for me exercise doesn't help with weight loss anyway - only calorie restriction. No fad diets work for me either - I was losing a lb a week on keto - my body just says no - so I don't see the point when I can lose that and eat what I like in moderation.
I need to get back on the wagon!

Riverskye · 30/08/2022 11:52

I’ll join! Same height but 16st 5. I was 12 stone 4 years ago, picked up some scales recently and was absolutely mortified that I’ve let myself slip so far 😭started loosely watching my weight the last few weeks and have lost 4lb so far. I’ll stay on until I’m down 5 stone or until I get pregnant - whichever comes first!

I’m using MFP and reading into fast800 to try and help snowball my progress for the first month.

Fatasbuggery · 30/08/2022 11:58

Reminder to drink more water 😁

I know I can reach for snacks when actually I just need a drink of water. It really helps.

AndYet · 30/08/2022 13:02

Weighed in this morning at 15st 1.

I've got long term interim goal of 13st 3 by Christmas, I chose this as according to BMI measures (flawed I know) it will take me to "overweight" rather than "obese"!

My short term goal is 14st 7 by the time I go away on 1st October.

feliznavidad2 · 30/08/2022 17:50

I'm keen to join, probably need to lose 5 stone but want to lose nearer 3... I'm 9 weeks post partum after baby number two, and planning to get back to intermittent fasting - approx 16/8 as this worked for me before, and I found it not too restrictive.

Following with interest!

ShoopShoop · 30/08/2022 21:02

How's everyone's days been?

I'm calling day 1 a success;
1340 calories
12,400 steps
2l of water

Baby steps.....

Fatasbuggery · 30/08/2022 21:07

@ShoopShoop
Do far so good , have eaten well and kept busy which helps. We have a power cut which is tedious so I have come to bed early which will save me from snacking

WhenDovesFly · 30/08/2022 21:18

I hope everyone's had a good day and stayed on track. I'm feeling really motivated (only day 2 and enjoying the feeling while it lasts) and it's great to have so many other MNers on this thread for support and encouragement. I've decided in real life I'm only telling my daughters, as I don't want that constant "hows the diet going" from friends and colleagues, which adds pressure. Hopefully in time they'll notice by themselves that I'm losing weight - if I stick with it.

piglut · 30/08/2022 21:21

I'd love to join you all as today is my first day back on After a few weeks making a big dent in my progress!
I'm 1 stone 3 down, got 5 more to go!
Today was ok - not enough steps, but calories on plan at 1,448

RadFad · 31/08/2022 06:55

Had my first on track day for a week yesterday. It's my weigh day this morning and I've gained so ready to stay on track and start losing.
Back to work today which helps with eating routine but it's a sedentary job so need to make a conscious effort to go for a walk after the kids are in bed.

Ohmywhat · 31/08/2022 07:09

Would you mind if I joined? I'm significantly heavier than you all but would love some company on my attempt to lose weight.

TooHotToTangoToo · 31/08/2022 07:53

Me too, can I join? I started my journey yesterday.

I'm 5'3" and 13stone 6lbs. I'm 50, have arthritis in my knee and hurt my ankle this year which won't heal properly, due to the weight it's carrying. I've also started getting heart palpitations, which I'm sure is weight related. I'm 50 in 6 months and determined not to be this heavy for my birthday

Blacktreacle · 31/08/2022 08:17

I’m not officially starting until tomorrow as we’re just back after 3 weeks of holiday and visiting family so need to sort menu plans and exercise plans etc. And then I can’t really contemplate being fully on board until the kids are back at school. I am losing a bit of holiday bloat so down 2lb this week.

Looking to plan meals today while my youngest is out at a holiday club and think about prepping soups etc so lunches are easy. Anybody got good low cal salmon recipes? Although I like most fish and seafood, it’s the only fish all 5 in the house will eat so I need to work with it. Usually just do it with rice and stir fried veg but would like to try something else.

Starlitexpress · 31/08/2022 08:20

Hi there, also 5ft 3in and am now 14 bloody stone...... 2 stone more than April 2020. Aiming to lose 2 stone before Christmas but in reality would be ecstatic with one!

Fatasbuggery · 31/08/2022 08:24

Morning and hi to all.

I am going to log in every morning to set myself up for the day.

Today I have to go into town for back to school stuff and boring admin. Then home for housework . Living the dream 😁

Good luck everyone and keep drinking the water !!

FartOutLoudDay · 31/08/2022 08:33

Marking my place here to start tomorrow - I reckon I’m now over 17stone, 5 years ago I was 12st so a long way to go. Just back from a week away and.cupboards are bare so meal plan and shopping later to get things started. When I got down to 12st previously it was a combination of MFP and having a supportive group of friends who were also dieting and exercising so hopefully this thread will have a similar effect!

newme4lanzarote23 · 31/08/2022 09:07

Morning all, welcome to all the newcomers 😊 and well done everyone seems like some really positive starts. I am just starting day four and so far so good. I readjusted my usual "lose 2lbs per week" on MfP to 1lb and its given me a calorie allowance which is much more manageable. Yesterday I had weetabix with banana, a chicken and cucumber sandwich, apple, yoghurt for lunch and a tuna and sweetcorn jacket potato for dinner. To me that feels like I'm being mindful of not eating extra junk or huge portions but not that I'm on an extreme diet. Hopefully I can keep it up. Back to work/college/training plus kid's school/clubs etc tomorrow so that's when the real test starts!

I'm 14st11 this morning. Down from 15st3 a couple of weeks ago.

I am drinking plenty of water, eating mainly fruit and veg during the day at work. I've had an easy peeler, apple and an apricot this morning with a cup of tea and a couple of glasses of water.

For lunch I'll have extra light philly on crispbreads and some cucumber, tomatoes and celery.

I've found that sticking to a few hundred calories in the day, and getting a walk in at some point means I'm not limiting myself too much at tea time which is the meal i value the most.

I've been using Noom which I like a lot

Fatasbuggery · 31/08/2022 10:27

@C0rnflake That must feel good to get out of the 15s

C0rnflake · 31/08/2022 10:31

@Fatasbuggery it definitely does. Next goal is to get out of the 200s in terms of lbs. Which is anything under 14st4!

Half a stone to get there 🤣💪🏻

Fatasbuggery · 31/08/2022 10:36

Breaking it down like that is how I am working as well. I can't look at the whole picture or I will cry and end up face first in some kettle chips 😁

TooHotToTangoToo · 31/08/2022 11:56

Porridge for breakfast today

Dh made one of his curry gravies with loads of veggies in it yesterday, he puts protein, of some description in it, but I just have it like a veggie curry with rice for lunch. It's all made from scratch so it's not too calorific. We keep a pot of it in the fridge for the week.

Not sure what to have for tea, but I've just seen someone having baked potato, so might have that with tuna and some salad.

I've decided not to weigh myself daily, but do it every Monday morning. So will check in weight wise on a Monday

LittleFluffyCloudz · 31/08/2022 14:17

I'm giving myself a target of 7lbs to start with. It seems do-able. Although I'm sitting at the airport on the way to Portugal for a week, so I'll start next week.

I'll re-assess once I've dropped 7lbs. I think I'll give myself from next week to the end of October. So that's 1lb per week.

Looking forward to reading about your successes.

😅yes the totality of it is quite overwhelming isn't it.

206lbs this morning for me! So another lb lost, 14st10. Although work was incredibly busy yesterday and i only had chance to snack on my fruit, had a low calorie ready meal when i got in and went straight to bed shattered. So i suspect given i intend to actually eat today at least some of the 1lb i dropped overnight will be there again tomorrow! I'm just empty 😬
