wrapmefestively · 03/12/2004 23:58

Miam,

Your post has made me feel really upbeat and positive

miam · 04/12/2004 09:42

I'm glad wrapme - we all need lots of encouragement and 'feel good' stories I think to give us a boost. It just makes a change for me to be able to give a 'feel good' story for a change!!!!! Hope you have a good week xx

JennisaurusUnderTheMistletoe · 04/12/2004 16:01

Miam thats fab!!

According to my scales I am now 10 stone 11!! Ok so still quite fat, but much better. I am also depserate to be in smaller clothes sizes but am still 18/16 in some clothes.

miam · 04/12/2004 21:09

Hi jenni - well done to you too! I love the shops that make generous sized clothes i.e. I can get into a 12 in Debenhams clothes but have to squeeze into a 14 or sometimes even a 16 in some other shops. Mad isn't it? I stay away from the latter now - does nothing for the ego!!

glitterfairy · 05/12/2004 08:32

Jenni well done and to you as well miam!

Champs well done too you seem to have been o track for a while now.

Brandybutter how are you?

LunarSeasonsGreetings · 05/12/2004 17:08

Oh miam - perhaps I'll have to go shopping in Debenhams... (Slight technical hitch there - we don't actually have a Debenhams in either the town where I live or the one where I work.) I usually end up buying things from Monsoon because I seem to be a size smaller there than anywhere else. Anyone else got any tips about where to find generously sized clothes?

miam · 06/12/2004 08:58

Thanks glitter!! Lunar - George clothes at Asda are very generously made too.

wrapmefestively · 06/12/2004 13:23

I find Principles very good. I am currently a size 18 in other shops but can manage a 16 in Principles!

Diet going okay - I think I've got the bit between my teeth now. Saturday night dh sat down to a huge bag of those Thai chilli crisps and I sat next to him and didn't feel the slightest bit of temptation. Also today in the office (at work currently) a colleague brought in some home made mince pies and again I politely refused without much angst or suffering!

BRANdybutter · 06/12/2004 15:31

Hello all - how exciting to hear about your shopping trips. I'm still waiting to go down a size, despite loosing 1.5 stone. I have gone down a bra size though, and my wrists and ankles are almost slender. I'm not a very keen clothes shopper though, when I get a bit thinner I might just book myself in with a personal shopper at a department store as a less-hassle way of getting a capsule wardrobe. Has anyone ever done it?

I'm fine Glitter, how about you? I was feeling a bit sorry for myself at the weekend though. Now that I'm loosing weight my periods are a bit more regular (used to be only 2-3 times a year), but I never used to have period pains and now I have 24 hrs of bad pain on the first day usually accompanied by a severe case of the runs (too much information?), fortunately starting on Saturday night so hasn't interfered with work. I'm quite proud that I managed not to comfort eat, even though there was an open box of chocolates in the flat.

wrapmefestively · 06/12/2004 16:02

Brandybutter,

Yes re the personal shopper thing. Did it at John Lewis when I was about to go on a trip to Rome (it was dh's business trip and I was accompanying him).

Found it excellent! Pesonal shopper didn't just show me designer stuff either, she picked out some 'high street' fashions too

champs · 06/12/2004 23:45

hi all!!
bran you are funny!! little too much info, but then again poo becomes an everyday convo when you're a mumWinkGrin

still aiming for dress size down for christmas.

did anyone see fat man slim on discovery health last night?

BRANdybutter · 07/12/2004 09:12

wrapme - did you give her information in advance of the appointment eg. your size and general body shape, or did you turn up and let her look at you and then she set off 'round the racks?

I'm going to have to buy a new posh frock soon (I only have one Blush) which I really hate so perhaps I'll try a personal shopper for that. My current posh frock is definitely getting a little baggy, which is a pity because I really love it. I probably should get two new ones as since dh started his own business we've been having to show our faces at the kind of posh charity dinner dances that I particularly hate and it won't be long before people notice that I'm always wearing the same thing.

wrapmefestively · 07/12/2004 09:42

I told her over the phone that I needed smart casual for a business trip in Rome. She didn't ask my clothes size at that point. When I got there we had a further chat for a few mins about my requirements, and then she pootled off around the racks and brought some clothes in to try (it only took her about 10 mins to do this). I liked almost everything that she picked out.

Well, weighed myself today as its 7 days into my diet, and I have lost 5 lbs Smile - so well chuffed!

StuffTheMagicTurkey · 07/12/2004 18:56

Sheepishly dropping in to announce I put on a pound this week. Went away for the weekend and ate my way through the city (Copenhagen). What could I do? They have chocolate fountains there (I kid you not).

OhComeLetUsADiorHim · 07/12/2004 19:42

Bran, the runny tummy comes as a result of your muscles contracting during your period (or so I have been led to believe). Not nice, but then at least it um...how can I put it...clears the system for a lighter weight on weigh-in day Grin

BRANdybutter · 07/12/2004 22:04

Thanks Dior, it's good to know that, it makes sense that it's linked to bad period pains then. It is a bit annoying that I've been trying really hard to get my PCOS under control and get my periods regular only to have them come back much worse than they used to be.

What was Fat Man Slim about Champs? I don't get Discovery, I already watch much to much tv to consider getting cable Wink.

Don't worry about putting a pound on STMT, I worked in Copenhagen for two summers when I was a student, and it was a very tempting city. If you enjoyed yourself putting on the pound then it's probably worth it. Anyway, I think it's not worth worrying about weight gains that are outside of your routine (like holidays) so long as it's only a few weeks a year and so long as you are still loosing when you go back to your regular lifestyle. If it helps we can all be very stern with you until you've lost the pound again (whips at the ready Wink).

champs · 08/12/2004 00:06

Hi all!!
STMD--- chocolate fountains!!! OMGosh, it's a wonder you only put on 1lb! dont worry too much about it, you'll do better next week.

Bran--- It was about a guy who was 26stone and lost 10 stone in a year. He took a year of work to get fit.

Glitter--- Hi!! how are you and your soggy buns??!!Grin

I confess ..................... last night I had 2 slices of roast beef and 3 small spuds and I have never felt so stuffed and uncomfortable in my life. The reason was I felt very low as my g'ma passed away yesterday. As a result of easting I went without my meal packs yesterday and felt so guilty because I'd eaten. It shouldn't ruin the diet should it?? That was the 1st thing I'd had to eat in nearly 11 weeks and now I feel really bad.

wrapmefestively · 08/12/2004 11:43

God no! - one small lapse really doesn't have any impact on the diet at all. However if you were to do the same again for brekkie, lunch etc it might! Don't give it a second thought...You are still doing brilliantly

woodpops · 08/12/2004 11:50

It's stupid getting to stage where eating somthing is making me feel guilty isn't it??

StuffTheMagicTurkey · 08/12/2004 11:52

woodpops - you will be fine, don't worry. ((((hugs))).

woodpops · 08/12/2004 12:05

I can't help feeling that's it I've stuffed the whole diet up now!!!!

I can't believe how full it made me feel though. But then I suppose my stomach has really shurunk from not eating!!!

champs · 08/12/2004 16:27

woodpops, so sorry for your lossSadSad
dont let this one day affect your diet. so you had one meal... if you can call it that, you didn't have much and like you said you didn't have your packs, I have a feeling the calories you ate yesturday would have been less than the packs. Dont be so hard on yourself, you have kept this up for a long time, longer than I could. 11 weeks!!! put this little slip in the past and keep uo the good work.

I'm sorry to hear about your grandma Woodpops, I wish everyone we love could live forever. Don't be hard on yourself about eating, it wasn't very much and you should be being nice to yourself at the moment not feeling guilty. I doubt that it will make very much difference to the rate that you're loosing anyway, it really wasn't that much food.

I bet you still loose much, much more than me this week, I had 1 lb off. I really must do a bit more exercise to try and speed up the loss, but my natural exercise level is bone idle and it's hard to try an convice my body that it loves exercise after so many years of doing next to nothing (if you exclude walking).

That progamme sounds as though it was interesting Champs, if I took a year off work I don't think I'd get much fitter, but I'd know a lot more about daytime TV Wink.
